I hated that S2 took the time to set up the "old character in their younger body" angle and then did absolutely nothing with it. I was hoping Little Cato would have trouble adjusting to being back with the crew or acknowledge that all those years might've fucked him up inside, but no, the next episode he's back to being his old self.

Unironically executive meddling. The creator went on record saying TBS made them rewrite 80% of what they originally had planned for the season, to make it more like a Family Guy/American Dad style sitcom. The aged up Lil Cato episode is the one the network hated the most. That's why it's never referenced again.
