Eddsworld's animation really hasn't aged well and it's actually kind of sad how much the animation quality went up after Edd died, but the stuff he made was still funny.

I'm trying to think of which localized anime did this the most egregiously.

Edd barelly improved his animation and style because he was a lazy piece of shit, when compared to any other big newground animator his progress was embarassing. He was easily the least talented artist of the newgrounds old guard but people treat him like someone who changed things.

Arin's lost a great deal of his sense of humor and appeal, but Jon was kind of a nobody until he made Grumps with Arin. Arin was the only reason people really gave Grumps a chance initially. Obviously, things have changed dramatically, but Jon actually does owe some of his success to that initial association with Arin.

This isn't true at all. I don't think you were there when it started or at the least don't remember properly. Jon was already really big, had major success on Reddit consistently by that point, etc. The two coming together for a show was widely seen as a dream collaboration or uniting of the mega powers.

Still think it's sad Arin gave up on animating/drawing. He has talent. It felt like he was just hitting his stride and then he gave up.

The most valuable and entertaining part of Arin is his voice acting skills. Prove me wrong.

I can tell you when Arin's animation peaked. it's not that hard to find it
there was this video he made somewhere around 2011 or so
it wasn't grand or very cartoony, but he was able to keep the spergy animation down to a minimum,. kept everything on-model, and it moved fairly smoothly

it's some video called a letter to game studios or something. I don't quite remember anything other than the animation being the best i'd seen from him
it's basically the proto-sequelitis, wherin he describes how he wanted the game industry to change

He probably has the most loyal fanbase of all the NG animators.

maybe saying he was a nobody was inaccurate, but his subscriber count was considerably smaller than Arin's, and his popularity grew an enormous amount from the association.
The same thing can be said of Dan.
Sadly, we seem to have reached a point where both of them somehow have better things to offer and Arin's kind of stagnating while apparently burning bridges, but the association did open some doors for them.

That's true, but before his association with Arin, NSP had like, 100,000 subs and Dan had to work additional jobs and his living situation sucked.

His situation improved enormously from the association--granted, he faced irrational hostility from the fans for way too long over the fact that he wasn't Jon, but his band's popularity grew explosively once people finally warmed up to him.

Definitely this, not only did it shatter any illusion that he had a semblance of knowledge about how video game design actually works. Calling into question all the work he has done on Sequelitis. It as just made him seem like a shitty person cause he's an asshole the entire time and has meltdowns over a children's game that he doesn't bother to read or even attempt to learn the game mechanics for.
If we are talking purely animation downfall I'm not sure, it's more of just a petering out and deciding to focus more on Grumps than animation. It bothers me that I still get videos in my recommended that are Starbomb music videos and they aren't even animated by him. I can't even think of the last time he animated something himself.
