The Residents’ Commercial Album
>Cutest Eyeball?
Don’t know what this means

For me it's green and Commercial album

Keyed and gem

really like their more melancholic songs, such as this one youtube.com/watch?v=_s_OZP9ohT8 despite the album itself sounding kind of cheap, its very endearing

Great for their time all in through 1980.
After that:
13th anniversary show
Bunny boy internet project if you can find a freak that archived it (I did) - god tier art
Sadly mostly junk post 1980 though

Oh, and Bad Day on the Midway was the best PC game of it's time

Not Available is their masterpiece

One of my favorite acts. Top ten for sure. Most people here are too moronic to "get them" which is ok

Who else got into Residents from Primus?

It was the opposite for me

Love em

Anons talk about 'Wormwood' but nobody talks about 'Roadworms' - the studio recording of the re-done songs from the album and even new tracks made for the road show.
My favorite Residents song of all time is 'Abraham' from that album - the music, the emotion, the lyrical content, it all shows why the Residents is such a spectacular band when the stars align

tl;dr This song encapsulates why the Residents are great

Like the early stuff.
Anything after The Commercial Album is alright, but hit or miss, although I LOVE Eskimo on a hot summer's day.
Favorite albums are Duck Stab and Third Reich and Roll
Favorite song is Beyond The Valley Of A Day In The Life. (You can bet your bottom dollar Jon Oswald was paying close attention and taking notes0
I listened to Not Available once, and I swore that I would NEVER listen to it again.

I haven't listened to them before and I have no opinion but I'll bump your thread because I like their costumes

If you dislike Not Available, watch this GREAT live performance of one of its songs - I think you'll have more of an appreciation for what the compositions are without all the production

Why are you here?
Based.
Double based
Ngl, Judas Saves has the best synth work I've ever heard

They made an album called baby sex and used child pornography on the front cover. It's memory holed hard and referred to as B.S. in their catalog, but they can't deny it. Someone mentioned that these guys might be into weirdo sex-freak trafficking shit (pgate), and I didn't think anything about it until I remember the baby sex album (good luck googling it lol).

Also the sampling they do is what hacks lean on when they aren't good enough to write their own shit.

user, they're faggots and possibly worse, Californian. They obviously diddle kids

is that true?

My dad went to group therapy with the daughter of one of the members. She described the band as “something you probably never heard” and told the group that he was a total dead beat to her and his family due to his pursuit to be a musician. Apparently she’s pretty fucked up from it.
Do what ever you want with that information

Holy shit, I only knew the black-out cover. This is something else

I thought this was common knowledge
I thought they were all poofs. Although they have no time for family, it checks out

what the fuck..

>Someone
who?

Silence, chud!

Why did you reply to that comment?

Because he's a bigoted chud and so arr you

then why didn't you reply to and

my friend manages a large venue on the west coast and the residents played it last year, said he had to sign an NDA over their identities, said the lead singer looks like he's in his 90s.

Because I hadn't scrolled up. I don't know why I come here, it's a trumpy chesspit

>chesspit
like that scene from The Wire?

What year was this?

Yearma ball!

Damn
Well I love what they've made. This thread pretty fucking rough, but the aesthetics they've tapped into are something else.

Hugely inspiring for dedication, prolific output.
Autistic dedication has its downsides though, and this really put that into a reality for a second. sigh

>reddit spacing
>sigh
>this thread's been rough
Why did you come here?

The 'Wormwood' live shows were some of the most kino Residents phenomena ever, shocked so many anons here say they dropped off in the 90s.
youtube.com/watch?v=Zdczijn3F4s

Everyone’s identity is pretty much confirmed at this point, at least all of the original residents. It gets more and more apparent as they die off who did what.
For everyone who here thinks the residents fell off in the 80s, you should check out negativland. I think they are pretty obviously inspired by the residents, while making their ideas their own.

I'm not, first thread I made was back in 2014 about Johnny Kidd & The Pirates. The only reply was to tell me that the board was full of redditor plebs. He was right then and he still is. Their 90s conceptual work is equally as well constructed and cohesive as the prior decades. I'll admit to having an 80s fixation tho

It's not that I disliked Not Available.
In fact it's a fine piece of work, but I wish I had never heard it, and I vow that I will never listen to it again.

You have to understand that Not Available was NEVER meant to be heard by the general public in the first place, and if I ever listen to it again, I'd feel that I would be dishonoring the memory of N. Senada. As much as I liked listening to it the one tine, I wish I hadn't. I feel quite ashamed of the fact that I did.

reminder that they used cp as the cover for their first demo
meettheresidents.fandom.com/wiki/B.S.

Holy hell, go jump off a bridge retard. You need death by impact as soon as humanly possible. God speed with ending your life. Jesus Christ, you are a waste of life

yes, and the other anons actually tracked down the cover (thankfully censored), which blows my mind... get THIS, that image was used for their early promo t-shirts! I don't have any other information on these guys that is this substantial and damning. It's a shame, because I would enjoy listening to their output even if it isn't 10/10 "avant-garde made by hand that hits the abstract feels that changes my life" type stuff. You don't have to be genius level to have an enjoyable discography, but this ruins it for me.

>>Now I'm thinking about how they were always anonymous, and how that might help to keep from getting recognized by a victim or identified by police.
my goodness, you aren't implying that they produced it themselves, are you?

they did, but I'm pretty sure it's a collage and not an actual photo

Don't get all reddit about 'oh my goddddd anons, we cracked da case!!! we found da pedos! Thats why they're anonymous!!'
The picture wasn't taken by the band, it was outsourced from a Danish imaging company -- almost certainly, the band wanted that counter-culture shock value on their demo tapes (ala golden age grindcore records) but it was is in very very bad taste

Gonna go with the red one on the right

this. those guys started out as first-rate edgelords, only topped a few years later by the likes of Throbbing Gristle (and never forget that the post-TG British industrial community had actual pedos in it), they just morphed overtime from edgelord shock humor to depressing humor

>implying they produced it themselves
>pic related
>Cover photograph - Dana Associates, Denmark
>Package design - Pornographics, Ltd.

Attached: Bs-back-cover.png (1688x1688, 2.6M)

Pornographics is the Residents design wing.

those... sick... FUCKS!

that doesn't mean anything other than we already know. that just means the Residents aproved the picture be on the tape and designed the title; that's implicit with them having sent out the demo tape out with the cover at all.
it's the Danish company that produced the picture

why are you trying to defend them? wank out a few too many loads to that cover huh?

People are accusing the band of CREATING the picture - that's a fucking lie. It's disputing slander cause redditards like
want to go extrapolate about how "they're pedos bros!!!!!!" when they used a very tasteless shock image made by another company to cement an early grindcore image for the band.
Not defending it's use, but the Residents didn't make the image and obviously weren't trying to make the new 'Buyer's Market' with this

well why were they looking at that kinda stuff in the first place ?

I did
