THE FLASH Director Andy Muschietti Talks About His Take On The Character

Fifth time's the charm?

>"What captivated me about the Flash is the human drama, the human feelings and emotions that play in the drama of it. It’s going to be fun, too. I can’t promise that there will be any horror elements in it, really, but it’s a beautiful human story."

>I can't promise that I'll put stupid horseshit in the movie
Holy fucking shit it's like no matter who they put in charge they're a colossal retard

Just leave it to the TV show.

Batman movie worked,Superman movie worked, Shazam movie worked, Wonder Woman movie worked, Aquaman movie worked and now Joker movie worked

WHAT IS SO COMPLICATED ABOUT MAKING A FLASH MOVIE?

He was directly asked if there would be horror elements since he's a horror director.

>Batman movie worked, Superman movie worked

I hope this one stay, he's a pretty good director.

>Superman 1 and 2

>Batman 1989
>Nolan trilogy

Completely different studio managements, though.

But I agree, I thought you meant MoS/BvS/JL specifically.

shhhhh, zoomer wasnt born before snyder movies

Shazam’s director mostly does horror, and it’s one of the best movies of the year.

Into the Spiderverse is the best Flash movie we're going to get.

What the fuck does that even mean?! How is Barry any more "human" than the rest of the Justice League?

I fucking hate how Marvel turned Spider-Man into Flash 2.0 with his own "Spider-force" and multiverse adventures bullshit. It was way better when he was just a guy mutated by a spider dealing with small scale problems.

Considering Aquaman and Shazam, it seems like horror directors can make good DC movies. Hope this ones good.

Well that and Geoff Johns was heavily involved with both of those. Would be REALLY weird if they didn't allow him some wiggle room on Flash considering the stuff he's done on the book. But then again that was mostly Wally shit

>Shazam movie worked
not really

Flash is incredibly OP, arguably moreso than Superman. There can't really be conflict when a guy can react faster than you can think. He is a fine character to jump inbetween movies (see quicksilver), but not so much in starring in his own thing.

Probably the fact that most of the upper JL aren't humans.

I think the director means human as in ethics/morals and not biological in nature

You mean like in Homecoming?

Homecoming was a little too small scale especially considering he fought the avengers in his first appearance. The worst part about that film is that they removed all the consequences of having a double life and made marvels biggest character a sidekick to RDJ

I may feel investment in this choice, if he actually makes his Flash movie.

The biggest problem with the Shazam movie was overcomplicating with the entire Shazam Kids nonsense and other things that are direct lifts from Cereal Lords stupid retcons from one of the worse books in the New 52.

There's nothing wrong with refreshing Billy's basic story from the GA for modern times, but Johns was just looking for AND got another paycheck for something for which the audience appeal was not the things where he lifted his leg and chose to mark Billy as "MINE" but what remains from the basic story as defined by numerous people that came before Johns.

Take out the Shazam family, keep Billy an orphan (save the mom reveal for a second movie) and do not connect or super power Dr. Sivana and you have a simpler, more stream-lined plot.

Aquaman worked due to charisma and a big budget that was used well. It had little to do with adapting Cereal Lord's stupid shit.

Yes, really.

>How is Barry any more "human" than the rest of the Justice League?

Because Barry only gets his powers very late to the game and until that he's just an average joe. Like Cyborg, he's one of the more human characters of the current cinematic league.

>(save the mom reveal for a second movie)
Are you high? The mom reveal is the best part of the movie and it ties Billy and Sivana thematically together.

>human,human,human
God damn it were gonna get another Eobard story. I just want at least a Lil silver age ridiculousnrss

My point was that Sivan and Billy didn't need that - try a little reading comprehension and put away those Cheetos

>I just want at least a Lil silver age ridiculousnrss
How about time traveling by running really fast?

I always travel forward in time when I run really fast, what's the big deal?

We want him to travel BACKWARDS actually, to when Batfleck decided to kill and Cavillman was told not to smile.

We've had plenty of that. I want dumb cold, hot, slowdown, Kilg%re style ridiculosness

I still say Nolan's was a deconstruction and not a proper adaptation. All this post-modernist revisionism is bullshit or at least should be considered different from traditionally adapting work.

>Flash movie

Finally. Could never get into the series since television is so fucking low budget and 90% of the time it's just plainclothes models standing around looking concerned.

it's going to be like this, isn't it?

It did, easily one of the best origin movies yet.

Looks like your complains are all based on your personal tastes, without the Shazam family the movie would be a generic teenager superhero movie like homecoming, the shazam family did show well the message of humility and contrast with how superhero movies usually make the side characters completelly pointless and little more than plot devices.

Don't hold your breath, they've been trying to get this thing off the ground for like 5 years now and it already burned through 3 directors. It's never seeing the light of day.

Technically nothing. Flash movie worked.

It's easily the best DCEU movie

>Take out the Shazam family
>(save the mom reveal for a second movie)
That would've legit ruined the movie

So the audience is full of colossal retards. Got it. What's with the modern obsession with horror anyway? Why does every fucking movie have to have "horror elements" now? It's so fucking stupid.

If you take a horror director its fair to assume they might want to go for horror angle

For something like The Flash? Only if he were a complete incompetent.

You've clearly never read any classic OR modern Billy Batson's stories. He's not a teenager, for starters .... my point stands, very little done to 'modernize' the story actually made it original. You could say that giving him an 'instant unrelated' "family" is no different than bringing a generic group of unrelated people together into a super hero team to meet some challenge.

You're trying to make a stupid point by stupidly arguing that Spider-Man movies where he's a teenager are the norm for superhero movies, when it's far from the case and it's actually the more rare form of them - even other TEEN superhero movies are (animated or live action) the same thing as Shazam! - e.g. a found family film; look at Teen Titans Go, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Big Hero 6, or Into The Spider Verse just to name a few recent examples.

why - just because it's your opinion?
