And at this point she didn't view other Gems as being worthy of their own freedom or independence so she didn't see anything wrong with telling Spinel to stand there and abandoning her for 6000 years.

For a movie that promotes that the protagonist's change is what helped him save the galaxy, if this movie never happened nothing would have changed. The entire plot arc outside of Spinel boiled down to recapping character arcs in a highly condensed format and then having Steven realize he has to keep fighting for peace - something he only has to realize because he suddenly didn't want things to change because the movie needed a character development point he's already gone over without the series spelling it out so blatantly.

Realizing this, he gets his groove back and accepts he can't have nice things and needs to allow for change, even if it fucks with his happiness, because it can lead to others getting their happy endings.

Spinel had a whole fun green garden to live in. Unfortunately she took the waiting game way too seriously and literally didn't move while the whole place rotted away around her. The way the other Diamonds were such dismissive assholes, she very possibly could have told them to check on her at some point and they just never did.

Accept this doesn't really happen.

Spinel realizes at the end she's taken away his happy ending, which is why she says she'll go off on her own and find her own friends. Deep down she WANTS to stay and make friends, but she knows she's bad at it and she fears people won't be able to get past her half-destroying earth, which is why she says she wants a "fresh start". She's ultimately sacrificing herself and her own feelings (yet again), and just trying to move on.

It's the same for the diamonds. The diamonds wanted to live with Steven, and he expressed reluctance about wanting them to come to earth, because they're troublesome to deal with. Then he decides to kill two birds with one stone, and introduces Spinel to the Diamonds.

The deus ex machina comes when Spinel and the Diamonds just happen to fall for each other, and the two sail off into space happily. It's like they just want us to pretend Spinel doesn't have delicate issues to work through at all, or that the Diamonds still aren't learning empathy and might cause misunderstandings.

It's just bad writing.

You can always just make up new gems that Pink Diamond hurt though. You can end the series whenever you feel like it now lol.
