Marvel likes to print a dozen variants for some big issues they put out but these smaller publishers do it with all their comics and I never understand why. It can't be for incentives because no shop would buy that many copies. Can't be for collectors because the comics are never valued for anything more than it's initial cover price. So it's basically paying several amateur artists per issue and just for the cover.
