The problem with the diamonds redemption is that they are way too powerfull, so if they don't redeem themselves the heros can't do shit against them anyway, so steven and the gems are going to accept the redemption in one way or another

She was close, honestly. But she was thinking too high in the chain of Command. The person who could do all of those things easiest WOULD have been Rose's pearl. No one would believe a Pearl would or could turn on their diamond, no one would suspect them and Rose Quartz was very well known for having a renegade Pearl. If it were me I probably would've explored that possibility before accusing My Diamonds.

This. It's a situation where nobody is really right or wrong. Steven was being brave, but he was also rash and almost got himself killed. The whole "breakup" arc is about two kids awkwardly dealing with an incredibly emotional experience. Unfortunately since it followed such a long hiatus people just look at it as bad filler.

You know I actually had the opposite problem with the episode. It bothered the hell out of me that steven was completely oblivious to why connie was upset (though seeing how a lot of people on here reacted I guess its not unrealistic)
Steven doesn't even have to think that he was wrong to do what he did, as I really dont think that has a black and white answer. He could have had an attitude of "I understand why your upset but I stand by what I did" instead of "lol why are you being so hysteric over nothing? Everything worked out fine."
It would have bothered me way less if any other character behaved how steven did, but he is literally mr empathy. It was really out of character for him to not try to see things from connies perspective.
