The same reason why they keep making duplicate of Superman now: They are creatively bankroupt.

It was a fun one-off they never got to do during the short period all those characters were around.

I miss the original Parallax, I was a teen and a Halfag for years when Emerald Twilight happened and it really wowed me. It's probably the reason I'm a sucker for storylines where heroes go bad or villains go good since then.

If anything the Death and Return of Superman animated movies show that Steel can still make a good character to base a movie off of though
