The wings let him fly/glide

No cape. He's far enough removed from "classic" Batman without it and his own thing. With the cape, he looks more like he's trying to be old Batman and not his own Batself.

Looks better with the cape. It's fine for Terry to not have one, but I can't really make myself believe it's "Batman". I dunno.

The whole design works best capeless with a slim Terry.
A burly Beyond outfit just lacks the same sleekness which is the whole appeal, it's better with a cape but still kind of just a lesser vanilla suit.
