Can't wait till this film exposes how we live in a society

>On multiple levels, it’s the most challenging, subversive and nihilistic comic book movie ever made.
>Jordan Farley, Total Film
Does it also have a wicked sense of humor?

So fucking tired of deconstructionism and societal metaphors.

>does a joker movie have a wicked sense of humor?

I'm actually really anxious to see how many shootings are blamed on this movie. It would take one single asshole in makeup clown to start shit everywhere

This movie was already made once, to the exact same critical review.
All this "new" Joker movie represents is an experiment by WB to see how profitable it is to rehash old scripts with DC comics branding.

Attached: King of Comedy.jpg (932x751, 157K)

Well you can't exactly make a movie about Reconstruction

>see how profitable it is to rehash old scripts
I mean, Avatar was a shameless ripoff and it made billions. It's a solid strategy.

Movies are made about people getting their shit together and finding a place in society all the time.
Sylvester Stallone of all people won multiple Oscars for such a film.

The "Man from the West defends the ways of the noble savage" is an old, old trope. Long before a Disney cartoon. Avatar was just the latest film in a genre, it wasn't a remake.
Joker is literally a remake with branding.

>World is encased in "we live in a society" memes

I can't hate them, they remind me that Margaret Thatcher is dead, and probably spinning in her grave.

Seething mousecuck inbound

Huh? Yeah you can, you make a normal tropey story that's really high quality.
Shit, that's why I like Lovecraft-it's not good as horror but it's great as spooky-fantasy

Let them have this, they've already lost the cinematic universe war, and since they can't set up a universe properly then just forget the universe and do whatever

Like how MCU has made the same movie 40 times, marvelfriend?

Ah yes Thor Ragnarok is exactly the same as Ant-Man & The Wasp, and Civil War was identical to Doctor Strange. I'm very smart.

ladderbro, still sad about Spidey?

Why can’t marvel drones accept this may be a genuinely good film based on a DC character?

Is it because Marvel lacks a villain that could support a movie to itself?

WE

The highest-grossing film of all time is about Reconstruction, though.

>Why can’t marvel drones accept this may be a genuinely good film based on a DC character?
Because said character is the Joker.

Why are you bringing up Marvel? People can be skeptical about this movie without being 'Disney drones'. From the reviews it sounds like it makes Joker a likeable antihero instead of the villain he's supposed to be.

Don't get mad at Yea Forums crossborders, they're special.

I just thought the scene where the Joker took a shit in the "donations for Haiti" box was a little over the line.

I didn't mind that scene much because it was mostly implied (you only see him take the box with him to the bathroom, then drop it at the table after he's done), but I gotta say, his long ass rant about "holes" (referring to women) and how they're breeding factories really took me out of it. Specially when everyone was cheering, even the women themselves. Crazy.

I was trying to remember what Oscar Stallone has ever won, so I looked it up, and he has won 0.

>Like how MCU has made the same movie 40 times, marvelfriend?
1. They haven't even made 40 movies, my mathematically challenged friend.
2. At least they remade their own movie, and didn't remake "Ferris Bueler's Day Off" but with a Captain Shield or paint Mathew Broderick green and pretend he's the Hulk.
Because this film isn't based on a DC character? It's like if you re-filmed Thelma & Louise, except they are dressed up as Harley and Ivy, or you refilm Scarface, except now he's a ventriloquist puppet instead of a latino.

Attached: Scarface.jpg (640x480, 27K)

i'm mostly looking forward to the articles denigrating this movie by pissy pants cat ladies

Imagine being this shit at the internet.

Wait that's not actually an existing artistic concept? How? Figuratively you pick up the rubbles, the shit that caused the collapse (you don't just ignore it), and you build with them. Kingdom Come has its issues but it's Waid's mildly retarded attempt at it. I'm sure there are more obvious examples. The Brave and The Bold Batman cartoon might be a better example.

I fucked up the link, somehow

That's not what that means. "Deconstruction" isn't about your character going to shit, it's about deconstructing a genre (or more generally an artistic concept). In the case of cape comics it's shedding light on the darker aspects that might have only be implied before. Like maybe being Batman isn't a healthy thing. There's nothing wrong with it per se, what's tiring is it being praised as refreshing or even revolutionary when that shit's been happening for at least 30 years.
Rocky is a pretty fantastic movie though.

I think the basic premise is that this isn't a deonstruction of comics, or based on a comic or a comic character at all.
This is taking the movie The Outlaw Josey Wales, except now he's dressed as The Crow and calls himself the Crow. Except in this case you've taken a Scorsese movie from 1983 about a stand-up comedian.

WB should re-film There Will Be Blood, but now the main character is bald and named Lex Luthor.

>and didn't remake "Ferris Bueler's Day Off" but with a Captain Shield or paint Mathew Broderick green and pretend he's the Hulk.
That's a pretty bad example, m8.

Oh and Scarface was a remake, the original wasn't a latino. The Batman character's puppet is named after the original.
And now I realize you're baiting while replying to bait, maybe even to yourself. So wait is Joker and Harley that shallowly ripped off from Thelma and Louise too?
Decent craft.

Bullshit.

>it's about deconstructing a genre
This isn't a genre film.
It's 1982's "The King of Comedy" with a Joker paint job.
Does Raging Bull become a deconstruction of the superhero movie if you stick a Wildcat mask on his head?

>Because this film isn't based on a DC character?
It literally says "based on characters from DC comics" in the end card you fucking mongoloid

Attached: 1567260421504.png (344x419, 6K)

PLOT TWIST:

We don't live in a society, it actually is the society that lives in us.

>I think the basic premise is that this isn't a deonstruction of comics, or based on a comic or a comic character at all.
It's not THAT divorced from it, user. Think of it this way, it's like sampling, the guy sampled some bits he liked from some movies and some bits of what (little) he knew of the Joker. It might be a lazy remix, I'll have to watch it to find out, but I can understand why they made it a Joker movie.

Oh Jesus Christ stop replying the same thing to every fucking post ITT. We KNOW what it is. It's clearly using the perception people have of the Joker to its advantage, like Snyder did with people's perception of Superman even if he wasn't really making a fucking Superman movie.
Now stop damn shitposting.

If they had literally made a movie about Peter and Ned slacking off from school, where Pete breaks the 4th wall to explain his life philosophy, you'd have a point.
But Homecoming is not a literal remake of FBDO, whereas Joker is a literal remake of KoC, with Gotham namedrops.

They sound like faggoty garbage just like this one

a scarface movie would be awesome

They all had quips.

Quiptinematic Universe.

Literally all the jokes are the same. Nobody talks like that IRL. Joker is a masterpiece just like BvS was, finally the critics are seeing it and you Mouseshills are fucking BTFO.

How does it feel to be in our shoes finally, faggots?

DC is picking up the slack left by Logan, god knows Disney isn’t going to.

It's been done.
