ya it is a shame. not as bad as my favorite sci-fi show...Babylon 5 has the worst luck for actors dying/destroying themselves. Main actor developed schizophrenia and had to be written out, almost cancelled the show.

never understood fantasy genre? it's just like any other genre, just a way to explore ideas. Or if you are meaning Heavy Metal, it's a way of doing adult storytelling in comics with really amazing art. It takes stuff like Conan and pushes it to the logical place it should go. Or the other end of Heavy Metal is just to go as far sci-fi as possible and explore ideas that normal comics don't allow.

I miss Witchblade. I miss the Sara, Witchblade dynamic. Which to me was Woman that has a pretty solid handle on life gets dragged into the weird and supernatural and tries to make the best of it, tries to survive it, tries to come out on top, tries to do some good. Every attempt at a reboot has kind of missed the mark on the whole new wielder out of their depth and tried to rush them into deep end of crazy shit.

It's feels really fucking odd to say when comparing it to old Image/TopCow comics but they all lacked nuance and subtlety when developing the wielders and coming up with a story for the Witchblade. I think maybe there impression of it was the last couple of years of Sara's book when she's teaming up with other people all the damn time to stop world ending events.

The Marz/Sejic stuff had a fantastic intense & suspenseful X-Files style & story structure to it. Had some fantastic world building/mythology and side characters. Had the best handled nuanced Lesbian storyline I have ever read in comics besides Batwoman Elegy.
The fanservice was still present but wasn't every page or even every issue. They got the balance perfect.
