May I type my report? It will be easier on teacher's eyes!
May I type my report? It will be easier on teacher's eyes!

I was in the weird transition period where teachers were beginning to demand typed documents over written reports. My family was poor, and didn't have easy computer access for typing, printing, or even internet
i always found writing for long periods to be physically difficult. Typing is way easier. I didnt empathize with this joke
My teachers would actually discourage typing because it was "easier" than writting.
Mrs. Krabappel! Isn't Bart supposed to face the window so he won't be tempted to look at his neighbor's paper?

Once my teacher demanded hand-writing, so I typed it up and then traced the printout.
When you have to write your papers by hand you can just write with larger letters, space out words more, skip lines to make it easier to read
It makes it a lot easier to write multiple pages.
But if you type it up then suddenly your 2 page paper becomes 4 paragraphs
RIP Russi.
;_;
>be left handed
>hand in report smudged to hell and back
Why hasnt there been a simpson tribute to this actor? Mrs.Krabappel had one
when that episode came out typing was still done with a typewriter, computers were still very rare and printers even more. typing was fucking awful because if you made one mistake that was it, you fucked it up, you could use correction liquid but most people I used to work for demanded no mistakes in the paper, it was hell.
Now THAT I can emphasize with.
This episode came out in 2002 or 3.
that was almost 20 years ago
Yes, typing on computers was common 20 years ago.
not for school children
I was in the middle of highshool in 2002 and basically everyone typed everything. It would probably have been uncommon for fourth graders though.
Springfield was lower middle class I didn't really have access to computers outside school and who the fuck wants to stay late and do school work at school and fuck up your family's schedule because your teacher is an asshole?
I did this in like 2nd grade, back when they gave us words to learn how to spell and we had to right each word ten times correctly for homework. It was weird I convinced the teacher to let me type the words instead of write them, but I still had to physically write each word on paper once to prove that I could do it something. Pretty sure I just did a bunch of copy and pasting.
Writers were still making jokes based on growing up in the 70s and 80s
Cringe
This was the same season as the episode where Homer becomes Mr X.
That’s some weird shit about human nature isn’t it?
Imagine if some hotshot teacher tried to pull that reason again.
Like, what difference does it make if it’s easier? Isn’t being efficient the entire point of a report here?
>Imagine if some hotshot teacher tried to pull that reason again.
That's why I get mad when people shit on kids being more easily offended by some things.
Those assholes used to get away with a lot of bullshit and I'm glad that kids don't stand it anymore.
I also remember my teacher putting a chair next to the garbage bin and making the kid with the worst notes sit on it.
