Listened to new frontier and your mixes are getting better but the recording quality is still a bit lacking. A huge thing for me is that the guitar isn't tuned so a lot of the soloing you're doing is sounding off. Another thing I noticed is that the whole song uses a kick snare and hi hat but no cymbals so it sounds like one really long part that repeats.
Listened to All My New Pals and I was really surprised at how good it was. Reminds me of the shins or old death cab. The quality you're recording in is impressive I could see this actually getting somewhere. Genuinely nice job here

1. vocals are too loud, in general
2. background vocal lines with effects should be quieter relative to main voice, IMHO; this is a stylistic choice, but I'm personally not a fan of such a close harmony combined with all the 'robotic' sounding effects
3. in the intro, the pad is too quiet compared to the drums
4. I think the further you go into the song, the better the mixing gets in general; second half sounds far better than the first one
5. I'd say this needs more bass, in general
the guitar tone is weak (if it's real, try double tracking; if it's a VST, get better one), but I do like the composition

Idk kinda sux. I think the mix is just okay nothing special. Any thoughts on what would get me to the next tier of mixing!
Any feedback or suggestions are appreciated. Thank you
Hey dudes. Shooting for some catchy experimental indie but also trying to get weird and noisy with it (especially in the latter two tracks below). Would love any feedback you've got!

This stuff is great man (and I love the band name).
Saw you in other threads and been meaning to check this out. Good stuff! What happened to the keyboard??
Twig here.
Thanks man.
The keyboard kept outputting tweaks of the knobs when they weren't being touched. Pretty annoying.
Thanks for listening friend I was very happy to hear your songs. Sound great from writing and production. Get on SC, it’s easier for me to follow.

Second single, would love any feedback
Everyone else in this thread I think I responded to in the other threads.
turn down the main vocals (especially at the start) and turn up the bass. Nice track.
I heard this last year May. Drums sound a bit weak, the whole song sounds a bit too sparse or repetitive for me so I think a second guitar might be cool. The solo at the end is nice but would be better with a different guitar tone.
Good stuff, like the guitar tone and the drumming. Personally the pop and slapping of the bass is impressive and all but I feel I would prefer if the bass had a heavier tone/more presence.
I only heard No Light. Good atmosphere, I like when the noisier elements come in about a minute and a half in but they do feel as though they drop back out after meandering for a bit. The flute at the end was a nice touch.
Personally the mix is okay (I would maybe make the mandolin-ish instrument a tad louder, especially in the first half and when the melody changes), it's just that there's not that much going on in the track. I'd also emphasize the dynamic change at 0:40 in

I like the production and vocals quite a bit. The 2nd chorus sounds better when the guitars are a bit louder, I think distortion on vocals could add a bit. Also I like the soundscape you create.
Oof hopefully fixable without too much cost. I listened to a few more and I love the variety on More than Redemption. I'm also a sucker for manipulated vocals so the second half really landed with me

this is me: great guitarwork, the trombone/brass was an interesting addition but towards the end at the start of the guitar solo the dissonance of it got a bit distracting. I enjoyed the scream at the end.
Thanks for the feedback
(reposting what I said from an earlier thread that got archived)
well produced, good hook. The instrumental and bridge are indeed highlights, would have loved if that instrumental and stylistic variety carried on throughout the song
Could have used better transitions between parts 1 and 2. Pretty interesting stuff overall although i'm not much of a drone guy
(repost from archived thread)
kickass logo. Interesting mix of vocal styles. Catchy refrain. Could have used greater variation in riffs in the metal-leaning parts
Definitely not pop music. The combination of samples with distorted and lo-fi elements is pretty interesting, and the almost demonic tone the rapping takes at times with the vocal manipulation and overlapping is striking.
this is fun :D

This has some cool sounds, definitely a good sound. Do you guys play live shows? I bet that would be awesome. Singer is actually pretty damn good!
This rocks! I definitely think you guys need to play up that you aren't like too serious. The instrumentals are but the logo makes you seem a lot more serious when you seem to have like a Brenden Small thing going on (which imo is awesome)

are you a woman? because this level of passive aggression is not achievable with XY chromosomes.
Making music is not hard. I mean, you know, all the work was already done for you centuries ago. All the theory and science, it's all in books that you can download for free and read in an afternoon. And yet you make poop.
I gotta say that your branding isn't doing you any favors. People can tell visually whether or not they might like your music before they listen to more than even 15 seconds. Just looking at it, your album cover is a complete mess of random colors that have no harmony or even contrast. There is pink, blue, green, orange, red and gray. That's not a color scheme that's a color mess. Also, your profile pic is just some shitty blown out picture of a literal who. Your banner looks like it wasn't even made by you.
And then we get to the music. There is no visual structure. Look at the waveform, there are no quiet or loud parts of the song which indicates a lack of structure, tension, drama, progression, all the shit that makes a song a song and not a random collection of sounds. Just looking at the music I can tell that I am not going to like what I hear. So when I listen to it, and I must admit, it doesn't sound as bad as it looks when you let it play for 3-5 seconds, but it doesn't completely wow me, I am just going to decide like any other rational person to not listen to any more. Time is really valuable and you have to respect that. Other people should be able to tell immediately that your song is going to be good by just looking at it so that they are prepared to invest the time needed to properly enjoy it. Once they start to listen you just have to confirm their (hopefully positive) preconceived notions about it.

man, that was incredible. hands down one of the best songs I've heard on Yea Forums since the year began. I just love your voice so much. but not only. the composition, the infectious emo choruses, the immaculate production... literally everything is perfect (to me) about this. except this artwork maybe? although it kinda makes me nostalgic of those 00s computer generated covers. I'll say it again, but I loved this so much. 6 minutes passed like nothing. I really hope you'll keep posting here so we can stay up to date on all your new stuff.
I'm grateful for hearing passionate music like this in a time where a lot things seem soulless and derivative. I wish I could write songs this good!

will return all feedback!
Hey, Enjambment guy here--thanks for the listen! Love the opening riff to this, the drums complement the xylo perfectly. Also love the glass shattering at the end; maybe could have used a few more percussive surprises like that? Either way, I dig it

>I was typing out a list of my nominations and recs but it seems like everybody gets butthurt about my opinions 24/7 so I guess I'll just delete it.
I've never even seen you here before.
Well, people like you would start raging that they weren't the ones I chose to be best, because apparently my opinion matters enough that it makes people mad or something. Just look around at the dumpster fire I caused by giving constructive criticism to somebody who a s k e d for it. Imagine what would happen if I implied that not everyone was equally the best musician on earth and that some people on here make better music than others. It would be apocalyptic.
You know you're probably right. I always veer between keeping it simple and probably more like an actual game or just going wild and adding as many channels and effects as possible. So I'll will keep that in mind for the next one, thanks!
You are so far up your own ass it’s unreal. Your criticism was worthless because, ultimately for Yea Forums standards, the pic is meaningless. The waveform means nothing, people want critique of the sounds they make not what it looks like on a screen. That you can’t figure that out just further proves you aren’t here for anything other than to shill your cybercrap and shit on anyone who isn’t in your circle jerk group.

I've heard your stuff before but i'm really liking Lazy Moon. Thoughtful songwriting with nice lyrics that keep me hooked. The part at 1:55 that leads to the instrumental section is pulled off great
>newfags don't remember J Marion
Newfags? It was last year?
Definitely gave off a video game feel, so you've nailed that!
I realized I didn't answer your question about shows—I'm a one man band at the moment, so no plans for that, but I would love to get there! Just a bit difficult to put together a band these days!
Other people were shitting on the guy and he asked for feedback as to why they were shitting on him. I thought his music was alright but his visual presentation made him look like he had no artistic abilities. If you honestly think people don't jump to conclusions based on first impressions, then you have no idea how people work.
Big mad cuz ur not in our club
Most of us who shill are shilling music not pictures, thanks for the lesson dr psychology
Your club sucks, making ambient and circus music on a computer doesn’t make you a musician.
Your music just isn't up to our standards. Gitgud.
>Your club sucks, making ambient and circus music on a computer doesn’t make you a musician.
Yeah there's only about four people here who even know how to play an instrument.
Do you even understand the concept of what shilling is? Shilling is self-promition. Self-promotion is marketing. Marketing involves visual presentation. When people are shitting on someone who has good music but bad visual presentation, I will criticize the visual presentation, not the music, because that will be of the most help to them. But of course, everyone gets mad at me for trying to help. Maybe because they are stupid and hate reading, and it's impossible for me to express these ideas in a shorter form. Maybe it's because they are incompetent visual artists and reject the notion that they have a skill that they need to work on. That doesn't change the fact that I am right and you are butthurt and wrong.
That's not very helpful.
How's everyone else's art? Just curious
Hey guys i just finished my 4th track so id like to know what do you think? Zworker || ROAD TO HOME

Clearly you are autistic and focused on visuals. Why don’t you go teach your advertising 101 somewhere else, I just want to hear the music 4channers make, I don’t give a shit how competent at selling themselves they are.
post nose
>I just want to hear the music 4channers make
Great, that's fine. But when someone asks for feedback on why people are shitting on them even though their music is decent, and I tell them that it's visual presentation, don't get mad at me. I am only helping them.
They're only stupid user why u gotta be so mean
From the other thread
> Hopefully you're just trolling, if not, you need to spend some time outside of your own brain - because it's an absolute mess in there... and clearly you've got nobody to tell you when you're having deranged thoughts, so you just get more and more confident in your own retarded theories and ideas.
This isn't an attack, take it on board.
Jacking each other off doesn’t help anyone idk I think you need to share your thoughts and people need to take it without getting ass blasted.

Honestly it's a mixed bad. I am not claiming to be perfect. I have some stinkers of album covers that I made just to push a song out quickly (which I regret, those songs deserved better). Some people make great album art and others don't. What bothers me more than incompetence is when someone just clearly doesn't give a single fuck about the visual presentation of their profile. It tells me that they don't give a shit about their music enough to even try and make some art that will go well with it, which I find very lazy and uninspired. Usually these people also make shitty music too.
>Some people make great music and others don't. It tells me that they don't give a shit about their music enough to even try and make something that sounds good, which I find very lazy and uninspired. Usually these people also screech about album art or real instruments too.
