The continuation of the Steven Universe with two focuses: the ongoing story of Crystal Gems, and Steven in particular, and Greg DeMayo's (Steven's father) backstory. Regarding the ongoing Crystal Gems story, it is about two years since the events that concluded Change Your Mind. With the murders of the heads of the other three Diamonds, Crystal Gems has unassailable control in Beach City. The move to Nevada went smoothly and Steven Universe controls several hotels and casinos in the state. Spinel, the gem who runs Steven's interests in Homeworld, comes to Steven, asking if he can take out the Emerald Brothers as they are infringing on Spinel's turf and business interests. However, the Emeralds are backed by Marty, a business partner of Steven's and a long- time ally of Steven's father, Greg DeMayo, and Steven refuses. An attempted assassination attempt is then carried out on Steven's life, in his own home. Steven investigates who is trying to kill him, and suspects that there is a traitor in his family. Meanwhile. Steven and Marty fly to Cuba to finalise some business deals there. The Cuban trip reveals all. In a story interwoven with the present day, we see the backstory to Greg DeMayo. From how his parents and brother were murdered by a Don in their home town of DeMayo in Delaware, to his escaping, as a boy, to Beach City, his adult life and his rise to Greg Universe.

In a show all about emotional bullshit, never addressing the emotional bullshit that a major character caused is tantamount to saying they did nothing wrong. The writers went 'it's epilogue time, the Diamonds are over, yay let's all go to our happy-ever-after'.
