Why is comic making a 15 year old joke?
Why is comic making a 15 year old joke?
The joke isn't 'lol vidya', it's 'lol at this dumb trend of remastered pseudo-retro vidya from 10-20 years ago'
I assume the blond character is actually older than he looks and the additional joke is that he's behaving as he went back to being a teen
Because WoW Classic just released.
>I assume the blond character is actually older than he looks and the additional joke is that he's behaving as he went back to being a teen
Jason has been a teenager since the nineties, user.
Well, WoW Classic just came out and it's the full vanilla experience, including 3+ hour server cues.
Jason’s not even a teen he’s like 10-12 years old
I'd watch a Foxtrot cartoon.
Or at least web shorts.
>The joke isn't 'lol vidya', it's 'lol at this dumb trend of remastered pseudo-retro vidya from 10-20 years ago'
Foxrot ain't that clever, the joke is "lol this kid's a fuckken nerd"
Do you not know how Newspaper comics work? Most characters don’t age and just have a sliding timescale
Met Bill Amend last weekend at Keystone Comic-Con he was such a super nice guy
>there are probably comics of this kid playing wow when it first came out
Oh my god, I finally noticed.
The kid has glasses.
I thought he was blind for the past 25 years.
One thing I was always puzzled by with this strip was that Paige never had a steady boyfriend. I always thought she was cute.
Amend is a man of the culture
Yeah the only guy that tries to get a date with her is usually this guy
Foxtrot is so good, god tier newspaper comic
“Someday I will Rule You All!” Is what he taps in Morse Code
user, you do know they had an actual blind character in the strip and that Jason never acted blind in any way, right?
Didn't Foxtrot reference Homestuck or something
Is he still a sissy who's too afraid to get /ss/-d by Lara Croft, though?
I dunno why but I love when comics and cartoons do this and reference the old art styles.
Best newspaper comic.
Stephan Pastis btfo
What makes it so good, I wonder?
Inoffensiveness? I have a hard time actually seeing anyone be upset at any strip from here, even in current year.
What happened to Denise? I thought she was good for Peter
She was mentioned in one of the modern strips
Honestly, Stephan Pastis shits on his author avatar a lot so he's probably in on the joke
Because this generation is pretty slow. :-/
Comic Strip Writers poke fun of each other and do crossovers or in jokes all the time
The joke is that he's using the ridiculous amount of time everything takes in the game to stall for time
Aww, that's sad. I wish they aged up. Would be nice. Foxtrot is my favorite
Bump
1/3 cheese, 1/3 sausage and unless they ordered more than one whole pizza it should be 1/3 mushroom. Do people struggle that much with math?
I mean many people aren’t great at math, but it’s more the principal of what Jason did of making the pizza order more complicated than it needed to be
This. The joke is that you still get the same thing in the end, even if you had to be annoying about it.
It would work better if the first two weren't so trivial.
I would.
It's what I would do if I knew math like am Asian.
Hot!
I laughed out loud
based FoxTrot
You know I used to think this kind of thing was a joke, until I started reading the worldbuilding stack-exchange.
This shit happens so much that I can't help but laugh, but it's a laugh out of desperation. A couple of my players tend to think less as their characters and more about what they can read on Wikipedia.
oh god the mom is so fucking hot I would destroy her
the sleeveless shirts drive me crazy
>not liking Zippy
pleb: filtered
>I assume the blond character is actually older than he looks
Holy shit the absolute state of this board, not knowing Foxtrot.
Wow, this one actually made me laugh a good belly laugh. Bill Amend is pretty good.
thank you, was wondering what it was.
All I remember of this comic strip is before the LoTR movies came out, two characters were auditioning for Frodo and Samwise but spoke all the original dialogue, and apparently that would have made the movies ten times as long. That stuck with me, for some reason.
Hey, I saw that, too, and thought about making a thread on Yea Forums.
it has the be the general chill-ness, at least if you can call it that. I met bill amend at Indiana comicon 2018 and he was really nice, down to earth kind of guy.
Bill Amend actually did a few guest strips for Penny Arcade.
>the additional joke is that he's behaving as he went back to being a teen
The joke is that he's a little shit who's doing things the hard way to monopolize the computer and fuck with his older sister, dingus.
The question you should be asking is: why a household in would have only a single computer in the living room for the whole family to use rather than the kids having their own laptops?
oh good. I'm not the only one to remember those. Pretty sure I got those up on my shelf. I even gave a copy to my cousin's ten year old. Didn't even think how dated the references may be.
oh wow. never realize how much Roger looks like my uncle.
Damn. I too remember when Apple not running Flash jokes were cutting edge. Good thing everyone uses Flash now and Apple is a dead brand.
"It's cold in here. Hoth cold."
"Quick move around. Make more Star Wars references."
Probably one of the few strips to acknowledge 9/11 as an in-universe event.
this is me right now
I've lost control of my life
The joke is actually he likes that it takes longer because it delays him from giving his sister access to the computer to do homework.
I remember when Mortal Kombat just came out and Jason's mom was giving him shit because it would teach him bad things, like combat being spelled with a "k"
>I assume the blond character is actually older than he looks and the additional joke is that he's behaving as he went back to being a teen
Nowhere in the strip does it say that The Blonde Character played WoW back in 2006, just that he's playing Classic now.
The joke in this is as subtle as a rock
Why does a joke have to be subtle? sometimes it’s nice to have a very obvious jokes
I love foxtrot
The First Strip
There isn't enough whipped cream if you can still see pancake.
user that’s pie from the color probably pumpkin or Sweet Potato
There isn't enough whipped cream if you can still see pie.
user let it go, does it really matter in the scheme of things? The point of the joke still comes across and is executed well
part of the joke would be lost if you couldn't see the pie underneath
But like for real, that Raptor quest to the silver in the barrens fucked sucked.
So did the feather one.
Fuck I wana play classic.
Fuck McDonald's fries are so good.
It was a comment on the deliciousness of whipped cream, not the art,
you
dumb
fucks
user your the one complaint about the amount of whipped cream on a drawing of a pie... maybe you need to re-evaluate your life
Is the older brother still banging the blind chick?
She was for the most part phased out with a few references popping up from time to time now
I wasn't complaining about it, I was agreeing with it, as in "yeah, smother that food!"
you
dumb
fuck
Thats kinda sad, I remember liking their interactions and the occasional blind humor.
>Why is comic making a 15 year old joke?
>In a comic about rereleasing a 15 year old game
Is this too deep for you?
Flash is still good and Apple is still shit.
>inb4 profitability is quality
applies to runescape as well lol
My family is still like that. One PC for four brothers, two in college, one in high school, and one in middle school.
I used to do this all the time.
Holy shit, these aren't abhorrent. I'm actually chuckling sensibly at some of them. They're no Heathcliff, though.
>Paige deep-throating that rainbow pop
She has all of those fantasies about older guys so it's more that she isn't really looking for one her own age than anything else.
Well, that first answer is 1, according to Wolfram Alpha.
>Doesn't know about Foxtrot
Zoomers disgust me
I always throw all my clothes together colors and whites on hot/cold and I've never had this problem
I liked this one. Made me smile.
Where is Heathcliff
I quite dig the old title font
wow. that's a webcomic tier joke, but delivered with an edge and panache that most webcomics dare not approach.
i'd not seen this before, and now i'm really interested to see how amend's writing has changed from the beginning. i wonder what resources and techniques he used to rise from the ordinary to becoming a beloved daily newspaper comic.
Bump
Foxtrot is still being made? i though the writer quit over a decade ago.
i think that's around when he moved from daily strips to sunday strip only, which is probably what you're kind of remembering.
she's cute
>Yea Forums enters an LCS
Damn, they've really not aged in this entire time? It's been 31 years. I guess only Funky Cancerbean and For Better Or For Worse care to acknowledge the unstoppable march of time.
Gasoline Alley, too.
"Magsweeto" is so fucking funny to say.
Winkerbean's timeline doesn't make much sense either seeing as how Mindy was a few years younger than Funky at one point and is now about half his age.
Baby Blues too
Baby Blues is more extremely slow aging.
Here's the Pearls revenge strip.
heh.
This was how I spent most of my spring breaks in college.
Huh, I think I could actually do those now.
Yeah, and for what it's worth for a boomer Bill Amend seems surprisingly very in touch.
is that a The Joy Of Tech reference
Why are you playing a 15 year old game?
>one hand
and into the trash it goes.
>Hark! A Vagrant
Based. Also F.
That's exactly the kind of shit I made when I was a kid.
Considering how conservative syndicates can be, I'm surprised that they've always let Amend get away with such small swimsuits on Paige.
One strip had her and her friend complain about it being so cold in a theater only to pull away and show them in clothes so small they were practically naked. I guess that got by through a "Those damn kids and their clothes" deal.
And you're hogging it to go on fucking Yea Forums?
>magsweeto
I would have gone with Swagtreato, myself.
Newspaper comic characters never age user. That kid's the same age he was in 1989
...that almost makes sense.
Foxtrot pioneered nerd humor, user. Long before web comics became a big thing.
The sad thing is that DPS number isn't super impressive anymore. In Mists of Pandaria people were regularly hitting for millions.
That sounds disgusting. Fucking kids got no taste.
This would work better if D&D hadn't renamed Balrogs Balors.
The Silver one was fine if you teamed up with someone. The one where you have to rebuild the samophlange manual was complete ass though.
They might be playing Palladium Fantasy.
He also did one where the little nerd kid was telling a "scary story" of a company who designed a computer but it had no floppy drive, back when floppy disks were the standard for data storage and transfer.
she is waaaaay to cute to not have 100 boyfriends this is highly unrealistic
She IS a freshman. Not even other freshmen will date such an inferior lifeform.
>implying a bunch of horny high school students wouldn't want a girl that would be an easy lay
>amend to that
Is this a pun? I don't get it.
Yes it’s a play on Foxtrot creator Bill Amends name and the phrase “Amen to That”
fa/tg/rognard here, literally my experience playing HackMaster
