Into The Spider-Verse 2

Will they be able to repeat the success of the first one?

Not only are superhero romance movies a tough sell on their own, the people that were crucial for the success of the first one aren't involved in favor of new writers and directors, and Sony is meddling now, potentially more than they initially planned, since the MCU deal is off. Will they manage to recapture the magic despite the circumstances?

Spider-Verse was seen as a masterpiece for animation fans, especially after it left theaters, so yes.

For the second one dealing with shipping though, the reception's gonna be divided.

Yes

>My name is Otto Octavius, and for the last two years, I've been the superior Spider-Man.

>My name is Oliva Octavius, and for the last two years, I've been the Superior Spider-Woman.

Pretty much this: The first one was perfect as it is, and I feel the sequel will downgrade it. Best to just leave it as it is

>Best to just leave it as it is
Sadly "leave it" is not in Sony's dictionary

>>My name is Peni Parker, and for the last two years, I've been Yea Forums's cum dump.

If they brought in a Madam Web plot line I think that would spice shit up quite a bit. Bring in Man-Spider but make him good and the chattering non-verbal comedy relief. They have so much material to work with. But yes, it'll be difficult to match the charm.

>Will they be able to repeat the success of the first one?
Not critically, as a lot of the appeal was novelty. It might actually do better at the B.O. though.

>and I feel the sequel will downgrade it. Best to just leave it as it is

This doesn't make any sense. The potential sequel doesn't effect the quality or the reception of the first one. If a bad sequel makes the original somehow lesser than, then that's on you and you're a crazy person.

So, the sequel is all about Peni's revenge on Yea Forums?

Your personal pick ITSV 2's Big Bad?

I don't see multiverse stories working as anything but a one-off, it gets contrived and forced pretty fast

Wishful thinking on my part but I'd like to see a bunch of alternate reality Venoms as the big villains, or maybe every Goblin.

I don't know about you but when I hear "the sequel is going to focus on X character's romance" from Sony, I imagine it as a straight up romcom and nothing else, so I don't think we'll see many other Spiders or creative villains, only as jokes or distractions maybe. They don't have the subtlety to make it just a part of an actual movie.

>success
worst performing spider shit eve only likes by retards

>Will they be able to repeat the success of the first one?
Remember Hotel Transylvania 2? Yeah, thats gonna happen to ITSV sequel

This time it focuses on different Spideys dealing with Venom:
>1602. "Thou taketh the mantle of the spider, forswooth slaying villeins in the name of her majesty!"
>Brer Spider. A black dude from the old south who plays tricks on people. Anasazi references abound. Likes messing with 1602.
>Grimm Togir: "In the age between the sinking of Atlantis, and the rise of the sons of Aryas, there as a age undreamed. And onto this, the Spiderman came to wear the throne of Nymedia. It is I, his chronicler, Jonah, who has recorded his innumerable exploits."

Goblin wasn't much of a factor in that movie, so it'd be interesting to see that. I wouldn't mind seeing a team-up with Olivia and Otto also assuming that deleted scene is canon.

eat a dick spidanigga lovers

If they can do the same sort of creative animation tricks and some of the clever writing it'll be fine. Worried about execs fucking up as always.

Animation didn't save Hotel Transylvania sequels

Off topic but how bad were the Hotel Transylvania sequels exactly? I just rewatched the 1st one and it was so comfy.

If they get 2099 right, yes
