don't know a single one of these.
i don't have much to say about this chart
pretty great chart but uh... islands? really?
i like to search these chart threads for cool albums that intrigue me
i see a naked woman as the cover art
and i find something fucking chaotic and amazing, thanks for that lol
scaruffi fan
pulp godd sticks out like a sore thumb here
lots of non western music, either massive nerd or lives in europe

you dont go out of your way to listen to new genres?
nice chart good job recognizing boces is best mercury rev most people get filtered
however stgstv is miles above danse and anything else anco has done
At some point if I'm not lazy, I would be looking into free jazz or whatever classicalfags like. Sometimes it's a chore going through a shit ton of albums that I remember loving at first. STGSTV is great although I'm into messy noise.
bump
stgstv is pretty messy but in a more subtle way but yeah fair i used to swear by danse being the best anco album when i was more into straight up noise
if you appreciate danse then you probably dont care about accessibility at all in which case i would recommend royal trux - twin infinitives and some of the more insane fushitsusha like secret black box and les rallizes like france demo tapes
classical wise xenakis definitely and pretty much any free jazz, ornette coleman, later coltrane, charles gayle, peter brotzmann
i think you'd also like scott walker - bish bosch
yea i know my taste is very basic
Bump
check out
Hospital Bracelet - Neutrality Acoustic
Family Might - Floor Connections
I was a big fan of hospital bracelet around the time that south loop summer dropped but it just fell off my radar, and revisiting it i don't really feel it click
too basic to comment on, sadly. why don't you listen to something sight unseen just on a whim sometime?
Nice punk picks, +Clube da esquina
+Orchid, as it looks like you appreciate the more chaotic side of emo/hardcore diving in late 90's metalcore or mathcore, or even try other screamo bands might be up your alley, envy, pg99, sesha, etc..
it is basic but the rap picks are good for the most part, also +nujabes
id appreciate any recommendations
+pig destroyer
+soad
+linkin park
yeah i got into emo originally via math rock so my taste has always kind of stayed around more messy music, though i have vehement distaste for twinkledaddy emo funnily enough, considering the math rock
there's a chance you know them already but based on mass of the fermenting dregs you'd prbly also like my dead girlfriend
How does one develop taste in music, anyway?
I've just been working my way down the "best-selling albums" lists, listening to whatever seems significant and/or appealing- Thriller, Dark Side of the Moon, Rumours, Sgt. Pepper- am I doing it wrong?
DI6, pretty based
I don't think you will get to good music by trying to find it. Good music finds you.
nah youre good but move onto scaruffi and then rymcore (the avantgarde stuff not top 100) when you're ready
There's not really a way to go about it, more just feel your way through. I personally like to go into a style or genre and look into what types of music within those genres/styles I find interesting and dig deeper in those areas
feel like what i listen to is pretty varied, nothing too crazy though
also yes i'm a tranny
Your tastes are pretty diverse. Here's a hodge podge that might appeal to you.

you should listen to 327 by westside
only one reply
Hey man usually these threads are complete shit, but this chart actually made my night. Thanks for sharing this, I'll also rec
Art Bears, Donovan, and Dom - Edge of Time if you haven't heard those before.
>Dom - Edge of Time
i've heard the other two but i'll def check this out. thanks!
Again the sophisticated meditation bro. Ever heard of Bernard Xolotl? I like Prophecy a lot.
youtube.com
>pulp godd sticks out like a sore thumb here
I think if it does then only for the image of it. It has some classical inspired composition or arranging and it's new agey, so I think it fits.
youtube.com
>Bernard Xolotl
it's been too long since i listened. i haven't actually heard that one, but there was a time i would thrash journey to an oracle. will check out. thanks, mate.
i'm getting into some of joanna brouk's lesser known stuff. she dabbled in whalesong towards the end, which i was surprised to find out.
I'll admit I haven't listened to Joanna Brouk but I will now because I respect your taste. Not a lot of people here know Xolotl or David Naegele already when I rec them.
I'll try to rec a couple more in turn. Riley Lee - Oriental Sunrise. Just Shakuhachi and Koto but some of the best of it out there, some good sea recordings on it too. It was originally from the early or mid 80s, and I think it was reissued during the yoga boom but be aware that version may or may not be different, I can't remember.
Also Himekami, if you don't already know him. But I suspect you might. Take the one off my chart, Moon water, which is technically a comp but is still probably his most complete album. He's like halfway between Kitaro and YMO and ranges from straight up electro pop to deep new age but Moonwater is mostly the latter.
lots of nice stuff on here
Neat. This minus Kanye could have been my chart on some weeks, depending on my mood
Have you listened to Nas' Magic yet? It's surprisingly good. Also nice Rage, nice QOTSA and I really like one of the songs off of Doppelganger, but never listened to the whole album
nice Daft Punk
nice DG
nice Sweet Trip
24?
the rise against album has me second guessing myself
neon indian- vega intl. night school
haru nemuri- harutosyura
I actually saw jinsang last week. dj sets aren't usually my thing but he was pretty good
+clipping
+adrianne lenker
---snarky puppy
lemon jelly- lost horizons
based for image alone. I've had that as my desktop wallpaper for two years now.
you're fine man, listen to whatever makes you happy. DOOM, Wu-Tang, Tyler, Kanye, Denzel, Death Grips and Bowie, all great picks. I know he's shit on a lot on this board, but check out Carti, especially if you like Kanye. Start with Die Lit.

I'm more of a bat you'll fly Chad. But you already know that don't you.
also a fantastic song definitely breaks up the album a bit and always a fun time
i also love how complex the polyrhythmelodies are

la rapet
april and the phantom
spirit theyve vanished

I need to listen to it properly a couple more times but my ranking is similar. I think chocolate girl is the best but. Also for some reason I assumed Danse Manatee was super inaccessible but it's fine imo. Glad I listened to it because it's quite good. Especially essplode, sounds like it is from spirit.
am this dude
Listen to the rest of the Talking Heads discog.
Listen to At The Drive In - In/Casino/Out
Listen to Plaid - Double Figure
>Grazhdanskaya Oborona
Based as fuck. I recommend looking more into his discog.
Not only a troon, but also a weeb.

Listen to Charles Mingus - The Black Saint Sinner Lady
If you liked Cap n' Jazz, you should listen to Joan Of Arc.

motorpsycho - demon box
killdozer - twelve point buck

shabazz palaces - black up
off minor - some blood
basement jaxx - rooty
so you have synesthesia by any chance?
yeah i love essplode and danse it used to be my favourite album of theirs
their first 4 are their best imo i dont like the vocals and emphasis on poppiness feels and onward despite mpp probably being one of the best albums ever it just doesnt jive with me as much as it used to
You've probably listened to Algernon Cadwallader, but if not, check them out. Sorority Noise - You're Not As ____ As You Think is kind of like Tawny Peaks. Also try Иcтopии - Пaлиcaд [Palisad]
i love you, user
faggots
damn u weird as fuck
++chrome red exposure
ego mackey
faggot dont post if u know ur taste is shit
kill yourself
also kill yourself
seriously? kill yourself
i'll definitely check both of those out if you vouch for them. i tend to avoid j new age cos, in my experience, it shoots more for twee than the transcendentalism and transportive qualities of western new age. so while i'm aware of them, i've passed over them until now.
>Listen to Charles Mingus - The Black Saint Sinner Lady
Neat>seriously? kill yourself
kek, why would I?
Yeah I can tell I probably have a higher tolerance for "cheese" than you. Still the Riley Lee is real good straight up shakuhachi stuff, nothing extra about it. The Himekami does start to get into that "pokemon music" sound so it might be a bit much for you but I still think it's very pretty if you ever have an itch for that.
cheese i ain't got not problem with. heck i still vibe with post-golden age new age for the most part (sorry, new age nerds, i can't hate on enya, enigma, yanni or david arkenstone).
it's just a lot of the japanese stuff has that element of frivolity and whimsy more suited to animal crossing 2 hr mixes on youtube than meditating.
but i'll def check those out, heck, maybe i'll change my mind. it has been a while since i went in for it.

Listen to Diamond Life by Sade or the SADEVILLAIN fanmix.

i am a big fan of both prefab sprout and aztec camera actually! have you heard of microdisney or the pale fountains? if not def check them both out you'd love them
No I haven't! thanks for the recs :)
Since you've listened to mine already I guess I'll throw another: Norichika Horie. He's a professor at the University of Tokyo making 80's new wave stuff as a hobby. It's more endearing than great, but I think it's worth a listen.
oh cool i'll check him out, his stuff seems to be completely unknown, at least on rym. thanks for the rec!
forseti is the pinnacle of neofolk. once you move past the entry level, you will understand this.
The fact that only shitty TikTok zoomer tier charts are getting replies proves how dead this board is
