Creative freedom is important, it's how we get new innovative takes on things, and more importantly it's how we get new media that isn't a sequel.
That said, it's also how we get terrible things that shouldn't have been made.
So while it varies hard it's still essential.

Robbie was one of the highlights of Suicide Squad. She was one of the most marketable characters and pretty much the only one any fangirl cosplayed that year. My dick was quite pleased at the time.
But Will Smith decided to quit DC and without him, Robbie didnt have much reason to stick around either. WB decided to sweeten their deal with her by giving her more creative power (big mistake), make her the leader of the Birds of Prey (another big mistake), and then they hired a lady director, which was perhaps their biggest mistake of all. Now, the movie won't be about Harley being sexy and free, it'll be about female empowerment in general, with zero eye candy.
