I'll never not rep Steranko
Jock
Alex Ross for covers
Don't have a favorite. Way too many good and great artists, too many genres, and so any decades to choose from. And when you say "artist", what do you mean? From pencils? Inks? Full-colored work? Inkers and colorists can make a significant difference, enhancing or spoiling a piece.
That said, do or die, gun to my firstborn's head...Kirby (and making that choice felt like cutting off my right arm, for all the artists I didn't name). He's not confined by genre, he was a ground-breaker, and Founding Father of modern comics. The older I get, the more I like his work -- in a decade or so I imagine I will be sacrificing virgins on an altar in his name (so expect a visit from me, Yea Forums, sometime in the future -- gotta get my virgins somewhere).
>ctrl-f
>no Bernet
Oh you dirty, dirty fuckers.
Probably Mignola.
literally go without saying
It's a ruse
Mike Zeck
I could name dozens but I'll just go with:
John Buscema
He hasn't had a lot of mainstream exposure in the US
Will Eisner
