Every adaptation this century got cut short

>every adaptation this century got cut short
At what point do we just call Spider-Man cursed?

So far PS4 Spidey’s storyline hasn’t been cut short yet

Spider-man hasn't existed for over 100 years. Of course looking at the entire history of the character you're going to see a lot of projects that have been cut short or never saw the light of day.

>Every adaptation for the last 25 years got cut short
FTFY
You're forgetting the 94 cartoon that got canceled, also on a cliffhanger

>So far PS4 Spidey’s storyline hasn’t been cut short yet
Not OP but it looks like it has.
Do you know who has the Spider-Man videogame rights? Is it Insomniac? Nope. Is it Sony? Nope. It's Disney.
Insomniac were leasing the licence for Spider-Man. Sony have got the movie rights but they can't make videogames with that.

So now it just remains to see whether or not Disney will allow Insomniac to keep making Spider-Man games for the PS4. Especially now that Sony have outright bought Insomniac.
Do you think Disney will allow Sony to make Spider-Man videogames when Sony doesn't allow Disney to make Spider-Man movies?

Spider-Man PS4 recently beat Batman: Arkham City as the highest selling superhero game ever.
I think we’ll be fine.

And Far From Home made $1,116,677,596. Just saying.
Sony denying Disney Spider-Man movie rights can absolutely result in Disney denying Sony spider-Man videogame rights.

I'd hate it if the videogames got fucked over because of this, but I am not exactly holding my breath at this point. I don't think it's looking that good.

Under Sony we got the two Amazing Spider-Man games which were not all that good as both were made to cash in on the release of the ASM movies, even having scenes that are supposed to expand upon or adapt from the movie. While the Disney deal was in play we got a Spider-Man game following its own original storyline that only gave nods to the MCU in the form of costumes. This game also made a boat load of money. I think we’ll be okay.

Casuals don't know about Parker Luck?

Your point being?

That Disney gives fuck all about videogame synergy with the MCU and will get a portion of the profits from the game regardless of who has what film rights. If Disney did give any kind of a damn we would have had a videogame that was a bridge between Homecoming and Far From Home..

He’s only cursed if he doesn’t return the slab.

user. We are talking about the same company that fucking erased all ongoing and future Fantastic 4 and X-Men productions from existence until they could secure the rights for themselves.
They faced major losses from this approach even though they ultimately acquired the rights.

>Fantastic 4
This is actually true, Tho Jonny and Ben were still around 616 having adventures with the Avengers. I think Jonny was dating Rogue at the time.
>X-Men
This is blatantly false as X-Men, well into the Fox vs Disney times, had more ongoing than any other marvel comic franchises including the Avengers, and this was during the deepest depths of the movie synergy times. I honestly don’t get why X-fans act like Muties being killed off haven’t made up like 85% of all X-Men storylines.
I’m willing to bet you a dollar that the next PlayStation Spider-Man game is still on its way.

Could the comics survive the loss of pete? I can see them cancel everything spider related but I couldn't see them canceling amazing. Are we going to get another superior?

We didn’t get that much out of Friend or Foe :(

Bendis already pushed to have Peter killed off during Civil War 2, his argument being that people didn’t like Peter any more and thought there were too many Spider-people. Rather than Hulk being killed, Peter would and Miles would inherit his role as the one true spider-man. It’s was ducking Slott of all people that shot the idea down, and so, along with Hulk being killed, Bendis also killed She-Hulk with a “Thanos Killing Missile”, but reversed that’s into a coma after fan backlash.
Good times

>I’m willing to bet you a dollar that the next PlayStation Spider-Man game is still on its way.
Hopefully you are correct.

The funny thing is I thought pete was safe in the MCU from being killed since infinity war happened but now I wonder if Sony is going to double down on making a miles film since BP and captain marvel did so well

Marvel is the one who owns the game rights, yes i'm aware Disney owns Marvel but Marvel has the say on whether they make another one or not.

Pretty sure Layden and Cerny implied that a sequel was already in pre-production only a couple months after the original came out. We'll be fine.

I’m convinced that Sony will kill off Peter in the first 20 minutes and replace him with the break out star of the award winning into the Spiderverse, Miles. It felt like the cast that Sony picked out for the MCU’s Spidey was made for Miles, which is probably why most people say that MCU Peter is just whitewashed Miles

Honestly it seemed that both marvel and sony were very tepid about who they used in those movies. Both knew that this fallout was inevitable so they just used the most tertiary characters possible in order to keep the major players from being tied up in any sort of legal limbo. I don't doubt that sony will do what they will do but I can't see them being that incompetent of course I can but still

MTV Spider-Man and Spectacular also ended with cliffhangers.

Wait, did he try to kill She-Hulk to get back at Slott for keeping Peter alive?

>raimi two first movies
>SANDMAN
>Spiderverse
>mysterio finally goat status
Dude spidey got lot of great moments in the cinema.
Same with X men.

Imagine being a fantastic 4 fan.

Yes, Bendis is a petty fuckwad who got super pissed that the Spidey office told him to fuck off. This is also why Bendis demanded that Miles and Peter not have any prolonged interactions with each other in comics that he wasn’t personally writing because Slott had pitched and arc wherein Peter was going to mentor Miles a bit.

>Galactus reduced to the space cloud
>that very embarrassing Silver Surfer
>The Fant4stic movie
>Cyber Punk God Doom
Man that’s hit to be harsh

Bendis gets money from characters he creates, it's the only reason he kills off characters and makes replacements he has no integrity and no soul he is a blight on the industry, he, his bloodline, and influence should be expunged from the material realm.

those were terrible so who cares, 94' Spider-Man ended with a cliffhanger and that was an unforgivable crime.

Word on the street is his kids hate how he transparently goes "LOOK I MADE A BLACK SUPERHERO THAT'S SMART AND INTO STEM DO YOU LOVE ME YET?"

I guarantee you one of his kids is gonna end up believing the only reason they exist is for his "artistic freedom" I've seen it before, white dudes making black kids or only having black friends so they can use it it their advantage or feel special or claiming they get a special race pass or some other bullshit.

If Disney owns the rights to Spider-Man video games, then why is it a PS4 exclusive?

This is logical and critical analysis. Well done user.

Because they worked with Sony and Insomniac to make it, Disney approached them

when you realize that parker luck is a real thing

wait what about ultimate spider-man infact nearly all pre 360 era.

"This century" and "this decade" can be interpreted both as "the last 100/10" years and as "years since the turn of the century/decade"

The last ~20 years can be referred to as "this century"

>Bendis already pushed to have Peter killed off during Civil War 2
>Peter would die and Miles would inherit his role as the one true spider-man

>"Let's kill off literally THE most popular Marvel character ever and give all his success and popularity to one I'll receive royalties for, for the rest of my life"

What a fucking cunt Jesus fucking Christ, what a cancer upon comics.

holy shit, maybe spider-man adaptations really are cursed
remember that stage show that killed a guy?

Attached: bill.jpg (400x400, 23K)

I hope Sony starts pushing Miles hard as fuck, the only reason Spider-Verse was well received was because they didn't bother to meddle, but now that they most definitely will, I hope they tank the character into the ground in the eyes of the public like they usually do and we don't have to see him ever again

What's the cliffhanger in the 94 cartoon? Didn't he get to meet Stan Lee? What else is there to do after that, I watched the show but what did I forget?

Ultimate Spider-Man the cartoon? I guess that hasn't been cancelled but it was awful so I don't feel like it's a plus. Which others are you talking about?

He never found Mary Jane.

they go off to fond MJ and instead we get Spider-Man Unlimited where he fights a bunch of anthros and this shit

I think Disney didn't really want the 50% profits off of Spider-Man movies, just doesn't seem like the move of a company that drops $71 BILLION on Fox for a few IPs, especially since they didn't back down after being told no. I think it was a move to break the status quo between the two companies and start a campaign for permanently acquiring the rights by strongarming Sony exec chumps, and I think withholding game rights will be a part of that campaign. Also an announcement of a MCU "Spider-Man Homecoming 2: He's Finally Where He Belongs" and the resulting hype would easily bring in $2 billon in the box office.

Sony wants something like 10 or 20 billion for Spider-Man, they'll never get him back.

They'll buy the entirety of Sony Pictures for less once they prove incapable of making use of the franchise, as we all know they are

>Sony wants something like 10 or 20 billion for Spider-Man, they'll never get him back.
That's like 25-50 years of net profits from their entire film division.

It's more likely Disney will over extend themselves and return their poverty stricken 80's form with the amount of terrible shit and number fudging they keep producing

Disney doesn't get to keep merchandising without the previous deal and Sony has nothing else as far as super hero movies go but that genre is ripe for being replaced with basically anything else action oriented at this point.

Oh shit, right, and here I thought that there are exceptions to the curse

>Disney doesn't get to keep merchandising without the previous deal
They do, Sony sold them to Marvel in 2011, they had nothing to do with the MCU deal. That's what most people overlooked when they called out Disney for being greedy, they lent Sony their talent in movie making and the popularity of the MCU for pretty much nothing new in return, while people thought they were given the merch profits by Sony. Now Sony will go back to making awful movies that barely make money while Disney still profits off of merch based on the movie.

Supaidāman ends as a complete story

2011 is when Disney bought Marvel

there have been more bad MCU movies than Sony Spider-Man movies

I literally haven't read a single modern spider-man comic, but actually want to do it now
is it a good idea to start around one more day/brand new day, while also skipping a ton of Dan Slott stuff including his whole Superior run?

F4 were wiped from all future mobile and console games
And for marvel heroes, the f4 were removed from sale
They were entirely absent from tv ans movies, cartoons and expanded media.
X-men had books but were rarely important in events, crossovers or the grand scheme of continuity, and half the f4 and the team concept was absent from 616.
It was there and it was noticeable

Oh and mutants were wiped from games too, press F for MvC

Cool, maybe that'll lead to a new series with less cinematic and forced stealth bullshit. And without Miles

Enjoy your low budget venom game starring Spider-Man with a contractually obligated voice cast

K, might be cool, just don't give it to an AAA western studio

They get cut short because they all want to run forever and there's a fuck ton of stories to adapt, no one is content with writing just a few ones and calling it a day

>run forever
They literally all get cut short at the third movie, be it by getting cancelled or getting fucked by Arad and friends

That doesn't explain cartoons and games

Those kinda are more explainable with the "can't run forever" theory. Videogames especially are a volatile thing, also because we're talking about a licensing propriety and not something a specific publisher owns in the long run

Also, really, what games' series counts as interrupted here? The latest PS4 thingie?

Don't worry dude, they'll realize they can't do more Holland movies without the Avengers, but that a bunch of Indian fanboys would boycot a reboot and they'll bring back Raimi and Toby for SM4

>a bunch of Indian fanboys

Attached: 1537832933348.png (376x294, 141K)

Yes but those bad spider-man movies have been worse than even the worst MCU movie

Don’t forget those terrible posters with art obviously photoshopped together that blatantly never had the FF or the X-men we’ll see spidey dropped from those now I suppose

I'm not giving up hope on Disney and Sony cutting a deal. I do not want another reboot. I'll fucking boycott all Spidey shit if something isn't worked out and I adore Spidey.

I’ll be pissed if there Sony continues to pull out but that’s the best option to finally do away with the ancillary spider characters (Miles and Gwen)

Wouldn't Sony push them more if they stay out? With more spiderverse stuff. It gets so much praise but Spidey dies asap and then Miles gets over powers and does nothing the whole movie but still wins. I don't get it.

>but that’s the best option to finally do away with the ancillary spider characters (Miles and Gwen)
What? Didn't they want to literally replace Peter with Miles somewhere along the lines of their planned Sinister Six movie and other crap they had planned? What makes you think they wouldn't push them hard?

no I mean the game

Because right now Sony’s track recoded is literally 3/6 good movies, they’ve already announced that the spiderverse team isn’t coming back and the steaming shit they have in the pipeline will kill any good will they may have garnered. Considering what happened to every Fox character I have no doubt that Disney would reduce the spider-man comics down to amazing because it’s the only one selling comsistantly well (but I suppose we’ll see what happens after Miles “hits 250”) and see if he still sells his book

Amazing was coming out before Miles so how would they have made that plan? Did miles sell well at all in the ultimate years?

That was just an adaptation of the comic (which got cut short)

>doesn't get cancelled in your path

Attached: 1567258450032.jpg (600x595, 178K)

Avoid anything after ASM #508 at all costs.

Peter dies and is replaced by Miles in the next movies, but plot twist, Disney e Sony come to an agreement similar to that of the Hulk and Spider-man heroically returns in New Avengers to save the day.

Why would Based Sony want to cut a deal with D*sney when they have the Award Winning Break Out Star Of Into the Spiderverse, the one true Spider-Man Of this generation: Miles Morals

Did you read what I wrote? The point was, Miles become the star of solo movies and Holland Spider is somehow, allowed to continue to exist as a guest star for the Avengers movies.

>they have the Award Winning Break Out Star Of Into the Spiderverse,

They also had Raimi and everything went well until they decided they wanted to meddle in his work.

Naw man, Peter will be allowed in 2 movies, the first one so he can die and be replaced by Miles, the second will be in a Rami styled Uncle Ben Flash back wherein Peter tells Miles he’s a better spider-man and has a way cooler costume. Don’t forget, Sony had final say on all casting choices for Homecoming and FFH, there is a reason why nearly all of the classmates resemble Miles’ side characters and why Peter feels more like Miles than he does Peter Parker, it’s because Sony thinks Peter is a relic of the past that should be made fun of while the new generation swings by.

Maybe it's time to shelve Spider-Man. He's become so saturated lately.
