The show does a bad job of portraying Ladybug and Chat as competent equals but I would argue she doesn't always do the heavy lifting. There are episodes like Gamer 2.0 where she can only do the "heavy lifting" because Chat basically sets everything up for her, or Style Queen where Ladybug is basically completely ineffectual on her own and has to be saved by Chloe and Plagg.

Season one was an horrible offender when showing how effective they can be, where Chat is mostly useless until LB save his tail.

Latest seasons do at least try to make an effort and balance the things sometimes. You give Ladybug tricky opponents like Reflekta, Troublemaker or Befanna and she's generally fine for a while, but the moment you put her against something really offensive or hard to counter, like Gorizilla or Riposte/Oni-chan, she barely can do something without Chat or some support hero. The same for Chat, put him against Dark Blade? He'll endure a lot? Something tricky? If it have mental control as part of the powerset, he's doomed.

On the other hand, give her at least one advantage and she'll have a walk in the park against anything. Plot armor aside, the show loves emphasize she's the brains and Chat's the brash.

I can only wait to see if Adrien really have the brains to use lucky charm without Marinette discovers the use for him.

I think Weredad was setting up further parallels down the line. Marinette was willing to fight her (admittedly akumatized) father because of muh duty, and Adrien won't be. Not initially, anyway.

To my memory, Adrien had no issue fighting his dad when he was Collector. What'll likely happen is that he'll be initially shocked to find that Gabriel is Hawk Moth, then decide to fight him anyway regardless of personal feelings.

A theory I have from a long time is the possibility that the Kwami's personality influence on the Miraculous' holder when transform.

If that's true, I hope for this being more than a Miraculous swap; maybe they will swap aspects of their personalities too. I can't stop imagine about Marinette (as Lady Noir) trying to flirt with Mr Bug, while Adrien (as Mr Bug) reprends her about staying focus.

I assume he, not knowing Adrien is CN just figures Adrien would be happier in ignorance with his mother just miraculously returning one day, rather than knowing that his father had to terrorize the city and potentially kill someone to make that happen.

Depending on how close she was she could have been involved with whatever Gabriel and Emilie were doing with the Miraculous that got Emilie comatose in the first place. At which point Gabe would obviously have to make sure she was on board with his plan, otherwise she'd easily make the connection.

My guess is Lila frames her for something while Marinette was Ladybuging and she has no choice but to take everyone's judgement because she has no alibi that isn't admitting she's Ladybug. Hence why her sentimonster is Ladybug, because really pissed off at that whole thing at the moment.

That's just development from bieng a superhero for awhile. She's just as serious and confident in situations where she's dealing with an Akuma but hasn't or can't transform yet like in Sandboy.

I think the point is trying to say is that some of the heroes powers are redundant.
I mean the horse also grants teleportation. So the rabbit has similar powers to the snake and the horse. But keep in mind that Bunnix is older and has more experience with her powers. It’ll be interesting to see the heroes utilize their powers when they can use it more than once.

Lila's plot-thread is to be the ultimate enemy that Ladybug herself created, and this season has only pushed her closer to that inevitability.

The main weakness of that type of time travel is the risk of killing yourself/all of reality. One wrong step and you back to the future yourself out of existence.

These days with tons of super hero comics turned into live action movies raking in vast sums, that seems rather strange a conclusion.

The problem with time travel in a show like this is the fact that it's NOT used 90% of the time. Even when it would be the most sensible option available. Also, the "rules" are rarely all that well explained unless time travel is the entire premise. Is the future immutable or not? It's not clear in ML's case. Which is just as well, as it probably will only show up one or two times more.

Shit, I nearly bust a gut laughing at this part. They've only ever been a team in name only. It's Ladybug who gets to hand out miraculous. It's Ladybug who's needed to purify both the akuma and feather. It's Ladybug who always comes up with the object that saves the day. And it's going to be Ladybug who gets the plot-important moments with Hawkmoth despite the villain being Chat's own father.

In this show, Chat has only ever been a meat shield/tool to help Ladybug's charm work/eye candy. You could replace him with just about any hero from the miracle box and they'd probably be more effective.

It didn't make things better which means it was wasted. They learned it and on the next occasion they didn't do it.

Wow. How good for them was wait until that late to air that episode, because if it was aired in the correct order, with the first episodes, I'd be turn off of the rest of the season.

The show is called Miraculous, as in those accessories which give you power. Have it right user. There is no reason why Chat Noir can't be an equal to her. The show even goes out of it's way to constantly point out that they are a team and that she needs him

Note that this was actually one of the first episodes written for the season, well before some of the better ones were written.

It's why she's still obsessing over Adrien even though Stormy Weather 2 and Puppeteer 2 had her decide to dial back on that. Granted that might not stick either, but in this case she relapsed because the season went back by about 13 episodes.

This episode took forever to animate and finish. They'd been waiting on it for months. Probably because of the giant mecha and needing 5 new pieces of stock footage.

Talking about the transformations scenes were cool, so as the powers summoning, I guess. Both deserves webm.

Marinette being the only one with a brain and motivation was frustrating as usual. But I did like the contrasts in their abilities.

Adrien already knows what item he wants and the Lucky Charm actually gives it to him, but he doesn't have a Ladybug esque complex plan on what to do with it.

Meanwhile Marinette decides to just outright destroy the whole monster with Cataclysm but only breaks it slightly because she didn't aim for a specific part like Adrien typically does and guessed wrong on it's damage level.

Partially but alot of it was Juleka pretending she was fine with it when she really wasn't. Like with some others, she tried to be a good sport about things but Hawkmoth Akumatized her anyway because you still feel sad anyway.

Marinette just saved her. It looked like Juleka was going to have a heart attack.

Yeah they keep trying to have their cake and eat it too by acting like all the heroes are important and a team but also making the lead the specialest most powerful character so all the kiddies love them.

Marinette's obsession is not constant. It fluctuates from one extreme to another depending on what the episode needs her to do.

This is why I don't actually watch the episodes and only read the summaries for the crucial details. In the end, the show can't do anything proper or interesting on its own.

This theory is pretty dumb because the only Kwamis with any significant level of characterization are Tikki and Plagg (and maybe Trixx and Wayzz to a much lesser extent) and we never see what influence, if any, the other Kwamis have on anybody besides Adrien and Marinette.

I assume she has to actually physically hit them with something, so LB CN Ryuko and Viperion can get away, and later so Dragonbug and Snake Noir aren't just instantly controlled. So as long as they aren't on the field they'll be fine.

Maybe, but Chloe was strong enough to reject Hawk Moth back in "Miraculer". Taking advantage of the "psychic link" between her and Hawk Moth because of her Akumatization, she could still take control of Hawk Moth.

Her motivation is literally just like Adrien's. She's not deep anymore deep or interesting than any other female character in this show. She's just like Adrien except she's Asian and has tits. Was interested up until this part. Too out of character for Lila. She's an opportunist and a manipulator, not the type to get her hands dirty or risk the consequences of an assault gone wrong. It would make more sense if she blackmailed Gabriel into to going after her preferred targets, or tattled on him to Ladybug and Chat so that she could get the clout of taking down Hawkmoth while taking advantage of the chaos involving Gabriel's arrest and Adrien's angst to swipe the butterfly miraculous while nobody was looking.

It actually sounds VERY interesting. But it's difficult to imagine that Lila would be the new Hawk Moth from here to 10 years in the future.

Stealing it directly from Gabriel is her only real chance, and that would mean having to catch him in a spot where he's got no counter.

It's too early for Lila to take over. As Hawkmoth she'd have to deal with the same power limits LB and CN have as she's not an adult, meaning her Akuma could only last 5 minutes.

That would be interesting new take on the subject, but the show is allergic enough to change without having that drastic of one. So much of the ongoing plot depends on Hawkmoth having a massive power advantage that I don't think a teen Hawkmoth could last too long.

Once the Akuma is out and about, it doesn't matter if she stays transformed or not, as seen in Simon Says where Gabriel lets the Akuma run amok for most of it. She only needs her power on to communicate with and command them.

For all the rage this is basically consistent with Origins where Adrien mostly got the hang of his powers right away, barring not knowing about the timelimit, while Marinette struggled at first.
