On the otherhand, a bad inker can ruin an artists reputation if they aren't big names. Look at the Injustice comic. He might also be an artist who's pencils are loose because he's planning around the inking stage being where most of the finish is done. A good inker is indeed a godsend, though; I'd say a lot of big names in the 90's wouldn't be working today if not for the inkers who picked up their slack.

Some times inkers have to do many, many pages in a matter of days because someone has delayed the pencil deadline
and sometimes the inker has to work on layouts
not many people know what happens
and sometimes the editor and the writers decide to make changes even after everyone has finished the issue
