It's not going to do well, I'd be very surprised if it did do well. Already I think this is better than Jared Leto Joker but inferior to Heath Ledger Joker.

The budget for this is tiny compared to blockbuster cape films. It is $55 million. Double that for marketing. It will make back its budget on opening weekend.

Well I'm reading through the script right now and frankly I'm not all that impressed. This is your standard "guy's sanity declines as the world continuously shits on him" plot and feels nothing like the comic material it's based off of. Don't misunderstand me, I'm tired of this cookie cutter MCU bullshit audiences have been fed over the past few years. This though? This is just the brand "Joker" slapped on a recycled script. I don't like Thomas Wayne being a dick, I don't like Joker popping up before Batman does, and I don't like the shitty memes that are likely going to spawn from this film. Nothing against Phoenix, he's a terrific actor. But maybe I'm at fault here. Perhaps I'm just sick of seeing The Joker, and this doesn't fit my vision of what Batman material should be

Looks like a massive waste of time. I don't see how the Joker of all characters benefits from an origin movie. He works better, the less you know about him. Seeing that he used to be a bitter middle aged loser is just gonna demystify him. It seems like they're gonna turn a cool super criminal into a cookie cutter Travis Bickle type. We've seen that movie dozens of times. Taxi Driver, King of Comedy, Falling Down, Fight Club, God Bless America... I don't need to see it again. You can make a movie about the Joker but at least than actually make it about cool, over the top super crime, the kind of stuff Nicholson's Joker would pull, and don't make it an origin story. Especially not one as generic as this. Shame too, Phoenix is a great actor for the role.

It's either going to be a wonderful experiment or something truly awful.
There will not be an in-between, but everyone will agree Joaquin Phoenix was good.

It was conceived of as a small-budget character drama villain movie, and true to that, it only has a budget of $55 million. It’s practically an indie film that just happens to be about a licensed DC character. If it made half the numbers of Shazam!, already a modest take, it would make over 3 times its budget. And at the same time, the trailers for it almost all get way more attention than Shazam! ever did. This movie is basically unfloppable.

Read the script and it's basically a buncha bad shit happening to Joker over and over that it's almost unbelievable. The acting is probably going to be phenomenal but the script doesn't really have any weight or depth, it's just shock value after shock value. The end.

Looks okay. The only reason it's even getting this much attention is because it's a comic movie otherwise it would've came and went like a turd in the wind.

I genuinely think it's gonna be an amazing movie on its own right, but it might be too much of a mature take to appear to a broad mainstream audience. Either way, I'm excited for this movie. The trailer had me hooked without even having to show barely any violence. The character itself just seems captivating.

WB wouldnt be that careless with a script like this and probably has a pretty close eye on anyone who has a legit copy. also typically each script has the person who its intendeds for name on it
