It wasn't when I stopped watching, but that episode was the first I really hated.

This utter garbage of an episode. I never looked back.
It's full of straight up lies. Inaccuracies. Misrepresentations. Throughout the entirety of the thing. It's nothing but propaganda and even so none of the joke lands anyway. It's fucking terrible and terribly preachy.

Attached: 1567094197.jpg (1920x1080, 521K)

>he didn't hate about 75% of Seasons 11-12
Come on now.

It’s a cartoon bitch.

Dilate your bait

The moment this beautiful scene came up, i knew in my heart that the Simpsons would never achieve such a masterpiece again and it would go all downhill from there

Attached: Sneed's_feed_and_seed.png (640x480, 222K)

I never watched them in order but the part that was so bad I never even tried to watch again was when Marge raped Homer

Helter Shelter

I seriously disliked them but I didn't actually hate them, that was the first episode I watched and went "wow that was complete shit" once the credits rolled.

Yes and? It was a very, very awful cartoon that was not worth watching in the slightest. What a fucking waste of time.

Kill yourself manchild

>It's full of straight up lies. Inaccuracies. Misrepresentations. Throughout the entirety of the thing. It's nothing but propaganda
>episode is pro-piracy
Okay Mr Shekelwitz

That dumb Trump skit. It should be illegal to make fun of him. Simpsons was great up until then.

Attached: trump.jpg (1100x619, 82K)

this post is like three layers of bait

Attached: piggg.jpg (500x400, 109K)

When they switched to digital animation. Either that, or when they switched to HD

Why do they keep making him oranger?

Where do you think we are?

>he didnt saw the fourth layer of bait that makes it funny
retard alert.

>>episode is pro-piracy
Dude. It's fucking anything but. It's such a complete corporate schlock the entire thing.

I used to watch the simpsons twice on weekdays and once on sunday for years but started not actively watching around season fourteen. It blows my mind that I've seen more than three hundred episodes but probably haven't watched half the series.

Pressed central.

I stopped watching every single night like I used to before long it, but season 20 episode 19 was where I just stopped caring at all.

Lisa Goes Gaga did it for me.

Hammering down the inaccurate notion of file sharing = theft over and over again.
Completely inaccurate and misleading statistics about how much the oh so poor copyright holders are hurt with every little download.
A Breaking the Law cover to shill for corporate interests, Respecting the Law, Copyright Law. Fucking hell.
Claims that downloading movies in Sweden isn't illegal and that Sweden is a haven for pirates, even though in reality the Swedish government that took The Pirate Bay to court and convicted them.
They still make the Swedish ambassador a fucking clown even by Simpsons standards.
The episode ends with the family admitting what a supposedly grevious crime file sharing is, and the family are full of remorse. Preachy as hell. And they double down with Homer getting super upset when the rest of the town got his movie through the internet.
And the final line of the entire episode is Lisa answering Bart and once again re-iterating that file sharing equals theft.

>pro-piracy
Holy fucking shit you corporate shill.

I hate when they push past the boundaries of their established level of realism.

Attached: emersion lost.png (955x358, 460K)

Simpsons was never realistic retard, they are yellow

In 1990.

Attached: Fartman.jpg (691x700, 32K)

this was the first episode that was 100% crap

Season 14 was the one where I quit watching altogether. Irredeemable pile of garbage with nothing interesting going on.

I'm serious, it's crazy how Trump is the only president that people are allowed to make fun of/criticize. Especially when he's one of the best presidents we've ever had.

user specifically wrote "established level of realism", you fucking moron.

>Changes the narrarive
Just admit you fucked up

I’d bleed your tongue.

I'm expecting by 2020 they are just going to draw an orange. No suit or human features, not even a big sized on. Just an Orange on the desk.

1-I'm not him.
2-I'm literally quoting the post, nothing was changed.

i know you are baiting but making fun of presidents has been a thing since forever in media.

Fucking retard

When I realized that the Simpsons isn't a cartoon but real footage of the victims of a nuclear meltdown that turned their skin yellow and they tried to cover it up by saying it's a cartoon.

They switched to digital in Season 14, I think.

Attached: Good_Night_(Simpsons_short).png (720x540, 549K)

this isn't based or redpilled, this is fact

Attached: 1566953814488.png (660x802, 324K)

Correct. Though they still have some leftovers episodes from the earlier season. They switched to digital in the 6th episode of the season (although that season's Treehouse already used that style)

Season 14 actually wasn't too awful. Not amazing but certainly watchable most of the time.

Radioactive Man and Tennis the Menace tested out digital coloring before the animation switched completely over to it in the EABF episodes. The Simpsons was one of the very last cartoons with cel animation and the percentage of animators who still knew how to do it was dwindling.

Fuck no, Robot Jones and Ed Edd n Eddy still used cel animation around 2003-2004, after Simpsons stopped using it

Yeah, Robot Jones was the last new cartoon produced with full cel animation, whereas Ed Edd n Eddy only switched to digital ink and paint in 2005, I think?

>Look up the scene on YT
>Don't find anything strongly angering about it
>If anything you could say it foreshadows the EPA being the villains in the movie.
Is that just because I know about newer episodes?

I remember watching this episode on delay via a DVR recording when it premiered. The recording stopped just as Homer was about to be read his verdict, and cut back to the end of the movie adaptation of his trial, and I felt like I missed absolutely nothing.

Have sex, fucking brainlet.

People just didn't like the screamapillar's screaming, that's all.

>No argument

She did? What ep?

damn I hate that caterpillar

Attached: 487760.jpg (640x480, 39K)

Horrendously bad episode

it was meant as a meta joke, but kinda ruined the magic for me, too. unlike Halloween Specials, which were among the best.

Ironic. kek

sorry I make your blood boil

Attached: 3f45d-screenshot2014-05-18at12-24-06pm.png (1280x800, 646K)

Worse than that was the ending of the episode.

fuck you! the movie was comedy gold.

Didn't someone on the crew say they do this on purpose to piss off their most autistic fans?

George H.W. Bush episode. I don't know why, but that episode just killed my interest entirely. The jokes were stale, unimaginative, and the whole thing felt forced, I guess.

Nah. It did have some fun parts, but it was pretty mediocre over all. It was the best that Zombie Simpsons could manage, though.

If I recall correctly even the golden era had some crazy shit going on, nothing comes to mind right now though.

Attached: jockeys.png (600x300, 263K)

It did, see e.g. the NASA episode, but even the crazier Golden Era stuff always had a feeling of being grounded in the established world of the Simpsons. I think one of the early showrunners described the show's approach as "rubber band reality", where crazy things can happen but it always snaps back to the baseline "regular family" dynamic.

One of the defining features of Zombie Simpsons is that the rubber band has snapped. They don't even care about grounding what happens in the world or justifying it in-universe.

Attached: Screenshot_2019-08-29-13-28-40.png (2560x1440, 1.24M)

Clever girl

That was just awful, one of the worst things Homer has ever done.

It's not even the part of making fun of him. The scene itself is just complete shit

They've said that about a few episodes, but that's part of the problem. When you do that too much it just weakens the show because the focus is no longer just making a good show. Same with all those non-endings like the Lord of the Flies episode where the joke is there is no joke. If you keep doing that it wears thin real fast.

The jokes are also about the most tame, inoffensive stuff imaginable like his skin being orange. They don't have the balls to actually call him a nasty name.

This. It was the first episode I explicitly remember the advertising being Homer crashing into Baldwin and Basinger's house and him going OMG CELEBRITIES!

youtube.com/watch?v=VCnTOph_iNA

It also says you're letting autists on the Internet get to you when the smart thing to do is not acknowledge them. Remember: The opposite of caring is apathy, not hate.

>that one episode where it's revealed that all Simpson women are smart and all Simpson males are stupid

IDK, the writers never acknowledged all the autists who want to see Lisa naked.

I think there's even worse shit he has ever done but this shit it's legitimately out of character shit,he loves Marge,he loves drink with her,he has made some shit with the police before,so why even care about that?,the normal homer would ignore it like he always do,maybe not the worse but it's the most disgusting and out of character shit he ever did

What episode?

not him, but i dont recall obama being made fun of that heavily as previous presidents.

Herb is smart though

Add to this the hypocrisy that there's tons of reasons to make fun of the Squad but they'd never do it.

Co-Dependents Day

The Strong Arms of the Ma
>"When Homer refuses Marge's sexual advances the night before the contest, she callously ignores his worries and then proceeds to pin him down and rape him"

Thanks!

So Homer's been raped by both Marge and a panda. What's next to rape him?

Attached: screen-shot-2012-10-02-at-1-13-03-am.png (455x339, 215K)

Lisa. After Homer refuses to switch to a more eco-friendly car she rapes him like he's raping the planet.

The rest of the episode was just bitching about the Star Wars prequels. Of course now that Disney owns SW and the Simpsons, Co-Dependents Day will never be aired or mentioned again.

Matt Groening

Attached: 09_02.png (661x497, 267K)

You get the feeling the show started getting written by a lot of younger siblings at some point.

>tfw only just recently saw the episode where they make up with herb
Liked it a lot, was expecting herb to backstab them or for homer to fuck it up somehow but it ends up alright in the end. Very wholesome.
I hate how often in animated sitcoms that something good that happens to them is just thrown away for status quo or a joke.

Well man, you can't expect them to make jokes indiscriminately now can you? I mean after all, were in a crucial point in history, Trump's presidency proves that we need to hand the reigns of power over to WOC or we'll all die as climate change transforms our planet into a burning hellscape. With that in mind, we need to never, EVER under ANY circumstances make fun of WOC politicians, especially The Squad. We need to portray them as our saving graces, because that's what they are. Put here by God herself to save us all from ourselves.

So just learn to love Trump jokes. After all, they're the only ones that won't end with us all dying due to cow farts

In the movie Bart directly calls Mickey Mouse the mascot of an evil corporation. Will Disney ever let that see the light of day again?

Too old and the wrong sex.

Oh right, it's that ep where she takes steroids isn't it?

Wasn't there a later episode where Herb called to say he's broke again?

I was the eldest sibling. Don't know that feel.

Yep. She also beats up a bar of sailors and other miscellaneous nonsense.

But the Marge raping Homer scene will stand out forever to me as the nadir of animated television.

The Boy Who Knew Too Much because Dr. Hibbert says that Walt Disney had the evil gene.

Catch 'Em If You Can had the worst Marge characterization ever.

>why don't they make fun of these politicians I dislike instead of this one I like
Besides, is modern Simpsons is the first place you go to for biting social commentary?

Yeah, I see your point. To me however, it was poking fun at roiders and how they're willing to sacrifice their health and life just to win a contest. Marge was the only healthy enough person on the family to take up lifting, and roids do flare up female libido while fucking up the male's. I don't know, I'm into femdom so I may be a bit biased

Wasn't the show originally going to end after season 23? One of the future episodes I believe

Holidays of Future Past, a very overrated episode.

I loved their cutting commentary on roiders by having Marge rape Homer. It really brought home that sometimes Marge rapes Homer.

It didn't poke fun at anything. Someone on the writing team shares your pathetic fetish and that's what happened. On a family show.

>Strong Arms o' the Ma
>Written by: Caroline Omine

>hurr durr all I see is rape
You're dumb as shit and don't know how roids work then.

But we're not talking about how roids work. We're talking about an episode where Marge rapes Homer.

>When talking about rape you're only talking about the rape
You know when Homer was getting fit to climb the mountain and really wanted to climb the mountain and then he raped Marge to poke fun at people who climb mountains?

It's not the focus of the episode and it didn't break homer mentally or some shit like that. All he got was a bruised pelvis at most.

>episode had a female wri...
Does that make it at least slightly less pathetic than if a dude had this fetish?

What is even the point you're trying to make here?

It makes it more pathetic. At least the man wants to be dominated, the woman is desperate to dominate.

Fuck off, rape apologist.

That's even worse. It not only has a long term TV relationship include rape for no good reason, it plays it off as a fucking joke.

I nearly never find jokes distasteful by Marge raping Homer is just awful.

YELLOW TOES BAD

It's an unwritten rule that every Simpsons episode includes the writer or showrunner's personal fetish.

>Homer vs Dignity
Humiliation
>Natural Born Kissers
Having public sex for the excitement of possibly being caught
>Large Marge
Breast inflation

And so forth.

You're slinging shit like a chimp and I'm the rape apologist? Male rape is real and I don't agree with it but society always downplayed this like a funny thing. It's a fucking cartoon for fucks sakes, meant to not be taken seriously.

Oh well, better go outside then. Male rape has always been portrayed as a joke on most if not all media. I don't agree with it but that's how society views it.

>3/662
>every

Still waiting on that episode where Marge gets fat.

what about teenage girl showing lisa her dick?

That shit would never fly because the butthurt would be gigantic. /ss/ has always been more accepted by society than the other way around. South Park even made an episode about that with Kyle's brother and his teacher.

That wouldn't happen IRL anyway. A 10 year old boy would be super curious about an older girl's tits. Why would a teenage boy have any interest in a grade school aged girl who has no development?

Is this one of the few reccuring characters introduced in the last couple of years?

CONCHETUMADREEE

Why would a loving wife want to rape her husband?

Unfortunately yes and unlike other Bart love interests she's just voiced by Tress MacNeille instead of a celebrity so they can use her whenever they want.

Because roids crank up the female libido to 11.

So some teenager gets into his dad's viagra and Lisa is the first female he sees.

this, I loved skinner

Attached: exmarine.gif (480x362, 2.16M)

Early Simpsons had an episode about gay acceptance lol

Classic Simpsons would have done a "Nessie really exists" joke. The difference is that it would have been amusing satire rather than "LOL HOMER FINDS NESSIE THEN GOES TO A CASINO".

except this one felt forced and pandering.

I'm okay with this being the finale of the show

>youtube.com/watch?v=ErhaWVG0o1I

But really I stopped watching it 20 years ago, I think during the episode when Homer turned gay for a week.
>Groening's friendship with Epstein makes me turn away from all the political ideologies he propagandizes for on the Simpsons. If the creepy pedo elites are supporting this agenda, it makes me think it's wrong.

Attached: maxresdefault.jpg (1280x720, 44K)

Go to /pol/ for your political rants thanks

Did it ever happen in the series? And that's not how viagra works. Holy shit, did you never study chemistry on your life? Look up what roid rage means.

Is roid rage that thing where you rape your husband and face no repercussions both in-universe or even karmically out of universe?

It’s not rape if the woman does it and they are both married you idiot

Wasn't Traci Lords raped by a teenage boy in her neighborhood when she was 10?

Season 14 was the first shit season
youtube.com/watch?v=iLVsa2a_VYQ

Attached: 1541067388509.gif (245x225, 1.05M)

This isn't the 50s, marital rape isn't considered legal now.

It literally is nowadaaysy

This one. I know it's pedestrian, but it really does show who The simpsons has become the inverse of what it stood for at it's height. Sucking off the celebrity of the week with only playful jabs at their gimmicks instead of going to the jugular on celebrity and consumerist culture like it used to.

That's what roids do. They make you do stupid shit like starting fights for almost nothing. Did Homer experience the life-shattering experience that an actual rape would provide? No, because it's a joke on what drugs make you do to your loved ones.

>Did Homer experience the life-shattering experience that an actual rape would provide? No, because he's a man.
She could have punched him. Choked him like he chokes Bart, which is close to an actual joke. Instead he gets raped and then the next scene happens and it's never brought up again.

You are retarded, aren't you?

I have a huge loathing of Bart vs Lisa vs the Third Grade, it's absolutely painful to sit through. Bart and Lisa are so fucking unlikable, the jokes are forced and unfunny, and the voice acting is also pretty bad.

It had one of the best moments in Zombie Simpsons history though

youtube.com/watch?v=bavkg5oZbuQ

This was a key point for me too, not even because of how low Homer sinks, but just because I realized the show hadn't made me laugh in a long time and I was mostly watching out of habit.

>my sneedpost was deleted
what the fuck you guys are pussies

>How I Spent My Strummer Vacation: 8/10
A lot of people hate this one but I've always enjoyed it and the rock stars mostly deliver some great performances.
>Bart vs Lisa vs the Third Grade: 2/10
I just covered it in the above post.
>Helter Shelter: 2/10
Feels like a Scully leftover especially the reality show ending which was basically reused from The Frying Game. It was horrible and cringy there, it was horrible and cringy here.
>The Great Louse Detective: 4/10
Mediocre and probably the most forgettable SSB episode.
>Special Edna: 4/10
Also mediocre and forgettable
>The Dad Who Knew Too Little: 6/10
This isn't too bad and has Al Jean's influence all over it--he really loves these Homer/Lisa plots.
>The Strong Arms o' the Ma: 1/10
The first act was ok, after that it was downhill on a rocket sled.
>Pray Anything: 6/10
Not too bad all things considered.
>Barting Over: 3/10
Tony Hawk blah blah blah. Not as painful as BvLvTTG but still pretty painful.
>I'm Spelling as Fast as I Can: 7/10
Not bad Lisa episode and some decent jokes, also the characters are likable enough. Also George Plimpton is great.

The whole idea could have worked in the first two seasons when a lot of episodes were basically slightly edgier Saturday Morning cartoon episodes ("Call of the Simpsons"), but at that point it just felt so late in the game it wouldn't work even if it had been funny.

I kinda liked Great Louse Detective, but yeah, this was the first Season I really felt was a total dud when I was watching it. 11-13 weren't great either, but had enough episodes I enjoyed enough to watch on re-runs.

>A Star is Born Again: 6/10
Cute episode and Ned gets laid with a 10/10 movie star.
>Mr. Spritz Goes to Washington: 6/10
As political commentary, it's ok. It manages to stay pretty cute and inoffensive, doesn't have the edge of Sideshow Bob Roberts, but given the post-9/11 climate, I don't blame them for playing it safer than they did in 1994.
>C.E. D'oh: 7/10
Not bad either, again not as hard hitting as classic season episodes, but it is nice to have the old bumbling Season 3 Homer who'll give up his dream for his family.
>'Scuse Me While I Miss the Sky: 5/10
I have a soft spot for this one because I've always been into astronomy since I was a kid.
>Three Gays of the Condo: 3/10
Bland and forgettable, Harvey Fierstein was smart to pass on it.
>Dude Where's My Ranch: 6/10
Bit Scully-like since it has a high quotient of grossout jokes, but the animation is pretty good at least and some decent jokes here and there.
>Old Yeller Belly: 4/10
I can't remember a single thing about this episode other than that Santa's Little Helper did some stuff.
>Brake My Wife, Please: 3/10
Boring, generic Marge/Homer marriage crisis episode.
>The Bart of War: 4/10
Don't remember anything about this one at all.
>Moe Baby Blues: 3/10
Bland and forgettable.

Take it to Reddit

When they banned the Michael Jackson episode for no reason

What if they'd been naked in the woods like Homer and Bart in Call of the Simpsons.

Attached: hqdefault.jpg (480x360, 27K)

Yeah this ep was pretty bullshit

I never felt Al Jean did political satire that well.

When homer skateboard fought Tony Hawk.

The series had clearly jumped the shark.

Ruined the series not because of the episode itself, but because pretentious Usenet faggot nerds complained endlessly about the episode ruining their beloved character and the writers got incredibly butthurt and said "fuck you pathetic fat nerds, they're our characters and we can write them however we want" youtube.com/watch?v=IkQ5oARNxLU

>Roswell announced that she had asked for a raise, not only because she was tired of the traveling, but because of the increasing cost of flight tickets.[1][27][30] Roswell was paid $1,500 to $2,000 per episode during the three seasons before she left, and she asked Fox for a raise to $6,000 per episode. However, Fox only offered her a $150 raise, which did not even cover the travel costs, so she decided to quit.[30] Maggie Roswell told The Denver Post that "they offered me a $150 raise. I mean, that's lint in Fox's pocket. But Fox wanted to prove a point, I guess. I was flying myself back and forth from Denver to L.A. It was exhausting. I loved doing the show and they thought that I would come back. But now I'm busy doing other things."[31] She further added that "I was part of the backbone of The Simpsons and I don't think the money I asked for was exorbitant. I wasn't asking for what other cast members make. I was just trying to recoup all the costs I had in travel. If they'd flown me in, I'd still be working."[32] At that point, the six main cast members of the show were paid $125,000 per episode.[33][34] As a result of Maggie Roswell's departure, the Maude Flanders character was killed off in the episode "Alone Again, Natura-Diddily".
Ah, so these are the """leftists""" behind The Simpsons

In the DVD commentary, Mike Scully said "[Maggie] took some time off from the show for personal reasons" because Fox wouldn't let them say what really happened.

See and

As an aside, Maggie Roswell voiced a whole bunch of characters including Helen Lovejoy and Ms. Hoover. I wonder how they decided Maude got the axe instead of those other ones.

Too bad, that was one of the best latter season episodes.

I waded through a lot of shit for a lot of seasons just to to dredge out the one or two good oddball high-yield jokes hidden throughout...

But the episode this most recent season, where Marge does tupperware parties for drag queens, assumedly a parody of Victor/Victoria or something... Halfway through the episode my interest abruptly died and its corpse post-mortem evacuated its bowels.

It's not like I haven't seen episodes of other shows that sounded like they were written on fumes, but there was something about this one that kinda psychically summoned all the other empty-headed social politics episodes and focused them all into a disappointment laser that incinerated my interest for the show.

Man, I miss Obama
The ratcheting up of the illegal spying on US citizens
The ratcheting up of foreign wars
Bringing back slavery to Libya
The killing of US citizens by drone strikes
without due process.
Having his entire cabinet picked by Citigroup
Using the IRS as a political tool
Spying on reporters who didn't do as they were told
Using executive orders in order to write legislation and thus bypassing Congress
Running guns to Mexico and getting US citizens killed
Making NASA into a muslim outreach agency
The blatant race baiting
Creating ISIS
Prosecuting whistle blowers
All while the media and celebrities kissed his ass on a daily basis

>It’s not rape if the woman does it
correct
>and they are both married you idiot
incorrect

>I don't want to alarm you boy...

You know the one.

SONY won't allow disney the rights to use spider-pig

When they meet tiny hawk and the one when they go to Brazil are the two that killed my interest in the show. I have seen some of the episodes before these as an adult and I can't believe I didn't see the death of the show much sooner.

This one definitely. It gave off shameless vibes. Stopping point for me was the Kid Rock episode. I was just watching simpsons due to routine at that point. And just dropped it there

Can't even remember. Don't think I've watched regularly since before 2010

This. Homerphobia is a classic episode whereas "Homer is a wacky priest at a gay wedding" isn't

Why were you still even watching The Simpsons in 2014?

Of what?

Can't even remember. Don't think I've watched regularly since before 2010

All NuSimpsons episodes are forced and pandering. Celebrity voice actors play themselves, for fucks sake. You chose this episode because you're trying to role-play as a biggot.

user, the Simpsons are for adults. Hell, a lot of adult animation has been picking up steam lately, unless you're the kind of Yea Forums tourist who is willing to ignore the fact that animation is no longer a "children only" medium in favor of blind superiority.
Plus, cartoons are an easier and cheaper way to tell stories. Telling a fantasy story in live action takes an ungodly amount of money.

Who is Obama, Bush, Clinton, Bush, Reagan, Carter, Ford, Nixon, Kennedy, Truman.

Shit the only ones I can't think of the media being smart about in the WWII to modern day is Roosevelt, Ike, and LBJ because the stuff making fun of them really isn't in things I read or watch. (excluding that one bit from Animaniacs).

If you really wanna go down this rabbit hole discuss the merits of Bush the Lesser's chimp cartoons vs the backlash on Obama's when people want to claim a post racial USA. Both guy had faces that lent to the animal with the big ears and both had bumbling policies. One was just black skinned.

came here to say this exactly, the john episode felt spot on despite having an agenda so it was not bad whether you agree or not

as for when i stopped watching it was when the show became so mediocre you had to force out awkward laughs instead of naturally enjoying it, it became hard to watch around family and friends because it felt like a waste of time... i think we all have our own moment (circa 2003) when we knew this was the case

also they got good actor steve buscemi on an episode around then and completely wasted him with 2 crappy lines, this soured me on the show completely

Those things aren't really funny or make good comedy fodder the way Clinton playing the sax and getting his dick sucked did.

If you fancy that, Clinton had a bazillion shady and crooked things he and his old lady did.

they are made of CHEESE

But again, what humor is there to be had in Whitewater or Waco?

In the Season 24 Episode Changing the Guardian, Homer calls Herb but his awsering machine has a message where he says he's poor again, they brought Danny DeVito back just for that line, so yeah, they threw away everything for a single joke.

these are the some of the worst contenders, the episode I dropped the show was the tony hawk one but I think the bart rapping one is also pretty fucking dreadful as well.

Just testing something out.

why'd you have to tag me to test whatever it is you're testing

shit taste. 'what he needs is a visit from kindly old doctor foot' is one of homer's best lines.

Damn this hurts.

I unironically did stop watching there. A few weeks ago I tried to go through all seasons but couldn't get past this one episode.

I didnt get this refference at the time and thought it was time to throw in the towel.

When Lisa became a Buddhist, "She of little faith"
When it aired I was a good little Christian boy, old enough to learn the important parts of Christianity.
When you're a kid, Christianity is just: God is watching you in Heaven, good people go to Heaven and bad people go to Hell, and Jesus did magic tricks.
But when you're 10, they tell you about Jesus preaching mercy, his horrible execution and his unending mercy.

So at that age, you're an idiot and like, >Everything I like must be like me, so Lisa not being a Christian is not acceptable!

But as the years went on; and losing the faith over a decade late, I get even more upset about the episode.

1. Lisa was clearly Christian in the golden years. From worried about the family going to Hell for stealing cable, to taking Church seriously.
2. It was well into the Simpsons making episodes nothing but "This weeks guest star is!', so it was a Richard Gere episode, and to pander to him they changed a main character's faith to match.
3. More of making Lisa the black sheep. I liked it better when Lisa was just a bratty little sister. Then they made her a nerd, then a vegetarian, then a feminist, now a Buddhist. Lisa is used to preach pretentious liberal shit and used to make normal people and her family look like stupid barbarians.
4. They made Lenny and Carl Buddhists too.
5. They kind of try to throw Christianity under the bus at the same time in order to make the shitty plot work.

So it was the last straw for me of them making Lisa a pretentious twat, celebrity bullshit, and just more poor quality shit.

This was the weird era where the Simpsons got way too self congratulatory and meta

Because of the issues everyone faced with posting a few hours back.

Fucking dead on

I'm latin american and I grew up watching the Simpsons in spanish. For me its when the main actors in the Mexican dub were replaced around season 15. The show already took a big dive in quality by that time, but at least the dub voices were still enjoyable. Until Homer, Marge, and Lisa's god tier voices were replaced with soulless imitators when season 16 started, because the original actors were involved in a pay dispute or whatever. That was the point of no return for me and for many in my region, in my opinion.

No one here watches the new Simpsons episodes anymore. In my country, Fox channel regularly broadcasts the early episodes with the original dub actors. That's because they know that everyone hates the new voices.

The ending makes it worse
>Marge figures she only likes getting drunk with Homer
>But she still can;t forgive him for putting her in the drivers seat
>Homie, pls cut out taah drinking
>Sad eyes and I promise Marge
>Ends up drinking out of hip flask in the lobby of a rehab center
It made Homer such a massive cunt

My God, I like Basinger but she's an awful voice actress

Get over it /pol/cel, he hasn't been president for nearly 4 years now

When did Conan left?

I stopped watching in 2000

Everyone in Hollywood except Mel Gibson is a leftist, user.

The Simpsons hadn't made me laugh in quite a while leading up to it, but I would still occasionally turn it on if I remembered it exists. The moment I officially quit was one Halloween episode ages ago that was so bad I actually quit. It is the one with the Avatar parody. I don't remember much, other than pure boredom and annoyance.

This.

But user, we like the prisoner.

I still watch it but I bitch the whole time

(you)

i'm similar to this post. I remember the exact moment, but not the episode
>kids hear some noise coming from santa's dog house
>some racoon or some shit inside
>attacks homer
>his internals are exposed like some looney toon character
>he's fine a second later
they have episodes about health risk and characters nearly dying, but let's just throw all that history away and have episodes with characters losing arms and reattaching them a minute later.

it also bugs me how money is no longer a problem for them. remember when they had to sell their tv to pay for therapy? when the dog was sick and they had to give up their luxuries to pay for his operation? homer just throws around thousands like nothing, gives the kids hundreds like whatever and they fly all over the globe, on the same salary that broke nigga had back in the 90s.

shit only works in halloween episodes.

I hate that episode for being a clear example of orientalism and noble savage bullshit. Lisa didn't even lose the faith in the Christian dogma for real but just got angry for her local church "selling out". Is she aware of all the wealth and power the Buddhist monks have? All the fucked shit the lamas did in the Tibet?
