Good evening owls,
issue 3!
Good evening owls,
issue 3!
also brb gotta take care of a bit of stuff first
Hello, Storyteller.
>Control
>hear it takes inspiration from the SCP Foundation
>find out the paranormal stuff barely matters and it's just an action game
The sheer level of disappointment hurts so much.
Anyway, back to Caitlin being the best Supergirl.
re: hughes likes women
You can get some of that playfulness from his covers
that Superman face is amazing, the "what the fuck, kids"
this is the best DC comic story timed on here today
Yeah, absolutely, there's always a sense of good humor and the women he's drawing being in on the joke and less "here she is splayed out for you to fap to but god forbid she have a thought of her own"
this isn't Dial H
even Hughes' Penthouse comics have some heart in them
Don't let these morons get to you Supes.
HI user
what's good today? I am about ready to pass out tired
lol
>dat Inza
>vastly improved
Hughes has taste. I feel like he's the kind of person who finds a woman sexy because of who she is. ... Which, I guess makes him a waifu-fag, actually.
Poor Clark. Pls no bully.
Marvel 1000, Doctor Strange, Mountainhead
that's the chick who was in love with her ten year old stepson
I'm almost scared to even ask the story behind that...
heh
Basically Hawkman reincarnation (connected souls), except one was in an older body.
Linda was in her mid twenties, and Eric was in a ten year old body. Eric got aged up by Nabu ("Kent!"), and they never fucked because that would be creepy.
It had a very good ending (The Endless Ending) that involved both dying, but their souls getting stuffed in appropriate bodies.
It's JMD doing straight-up Meher Baba stuff, remarkably unfiltered
GODDAMN Fairchild looks too damn good in that costume.
LOL
You ever read "Seekers into the mystery?"
They let him do it again
Bobby is the only not being a jerk.
Hughes should take over Superman from Bendis
I have a lot of that in grab-bag singles but I haven't actually read it
I have a deeply variable tolerance level for mysticism
Which is a weird reversal, since he's usually the worst of the group.
He's learned to respect Superman, after the burning building.
They each get their little moments.
Looks like Roxy's up next.
it's very uneven, but acts like a good showcase of early-mid 1990s "alt" artists (Glenn Barr, Jon Muth, Michael Zulli, Jill Thompson).
A lot of it is the same plot beats as his Doctor Fate, but with some more unfortunate child molestation, which actually comes up enough in his work to make me wonder if it happened to him.
It had absolutely shitty sales (13K in 1997), so it just sort of ends before really going anywhere.
.pick me up daddy
Roxy, now do you see the appeal?
fun stuff
I like this
The heart pupils in a comic with great, but otherwise straight art, is my favorite part.
Did Jimmy ever learn clark's identity as Superman in the post-crisis stuff?
its like the Shazam movie but actually fun
Grunge won't like this! Hahahaha
They're some punk-ass little kids, but they're not bad kids.
Oh god, it's my third or fourth time reading it and I just noticed Lois's hands in the second panel!
omg
I love how the cops are all jaded
>They're big
>Like, could crush a popcan big
She'd be worried, but Clark's a leg man.
When you're working for Dangerous Dan Turpin in the Science Police, you get used to some crazy shit.
Ha, this just reminds me of how Maggie (nice fruitcake comment there) was introduced by Byrne looking older and rougher, and became progressively prettier over the years
It's so important how Metropolis crazy shit is different from Gotham crazy shit, though
Hi
HoX still rules. And Hickman said the X-Men ongoing is planned to be all done in ones. Very exciting times.
And the Legion is back which in grimly happy about
I’ve only read HoX and some of Marvel 1000 so far today so dunno what else is good
>in the Science Police
Special Crimes Unit
Metropolis has an entire branch of the police to deal with Super Science, while Gotham had a department for Magic, for a little while.
>all done in ones
no shit? Well, if he's committed to it, that's quite the battle plan, given that I'm sure he's more obsessive about a metaplot than something like Ellis Moon Knight was
Am I thinking of two different things, or an unofficial name for the same thing?
>Hughes has taste
Then why can't he draw a proper booty?
>the battle cry of parts of Yea Forums
someone crop this
They haven't any fucks left to give after all the bullshit they've seen. This dude is just a minor inconvenience, frankly.
Yeah he said that there’s carry over stuff from issue to issue but A plot is done in one
I need to find the interviews people were talking about actually
For all that I'm still pissy at him for Avengers, he does have the technical skill to do Levitz graphs and make them work.
also nice quads, me
Three for three.
Now Rainmaker believes, all that's left is Grunge with my second favorite after Roxy.
Life Story's finale was good, neat twist on Superior and any time Pete has a good death makes me tear up. Still feel like it should have went on a lil longer.
I still find it hilarious from how Zdarsky went from
>uuuuunclebeeenimsooooorry
and
>Iron Man has "cyber sex" with Mr Fantastic b/c he thought he was an 18 yr old chearleader(Screenname: MistyFantasdick)
to one of the best Spidey one shots in a decade, Life Story, Invaders and Daredevil
Flash doing part of the Drake meme
Yeah, I hate saying this type of thing but Life Story is easily the best Spidey content in many years. I haven't started Daredevil yet but Invaders is scratching the itch Robinson totally failed at.
>Robinson totally failed at.
no surprise there
It would've been nice if the series was 12 normal sized issues rather than 6 double sized but it is what it is. Though I liked friendly neighborhood today, though that MJ thread from yesterday kinda ruined it for me
Science Police are a Legion of Super-Heroes thing. You're off by about a thousand years.
This is honestly one of the better "Superman is cool, actually" stories. Usually it comes across as directionless bitching at them damn kids, but here it's actually directly showing said damn kids WHY Supes is a timeless character.
Also, for real, anyone who dislikes Superman for being "boring" or "outdated" is an ignorant chode.
I'm pretty sure getting kicked in the nuts by Caitlin would kill a man.
"Boring" is usually code for "not snarky and quippy" and "outdated" is usually code for "not violent or cynical enough"
looka that body turn
I never noticed how detailed Caitlyn's costume is until now
Usually the big one I get is 'He has too many powers, nothing is a challenge for him. All his weaknesses have to be used every time. I don't relate to him...'
Agree'd, hopefully in the future editorial gives Zdarsky more space since he originally wanted more issues
and is repeated for Yea Forums content
Check out that sideboob
It's from people who don't read comics but for some reason think they can have opinions on them, so they have this idea in their head that every issue of Superman is a villain showing up or a problem starting and Superman solving it in one page before wanking for the rest of the issue
this is one of the better Superman stories.
Trying to explain to them that Superman goes up against things outside his weight class all the time goes on deaf ears.
Hell, I try to explain the whole point of Superman is that with all his powers he still isn't God. He does fail people, and people have died because he's done the wrong thing before.
dammit Linda/Matrix/whoever the fuck she was at this point in time
Nice projection on that rack.
And I blame Jurgens for that superman problem
I don't get the hype for Zdarsky's writing at all
Wasn't red kryptonite a post-crisis mxy thing?
Thanks.
Zdarsky’s Invaders fucking rules and is gone too soon. I’m one of the only 5 reading it. I’m not sold totally on Daredevil but it’s not bad and the first time I’m continually reading the book since Waid started
Nope, it was the Go-To Plot for Superboy's adventures back in the Silver Age. Superman gets hit with some Non-Green Kryptonite Radiation, it causes goofy to happen temporarily.
Noticeable bulge in that first panel
>is gone too soon
it's not cancelled
It sounds like a Silver Age thing but I’m also the Jurgens defender
I like snippy, cynical characters, but I don't want every character to be like that. Sincerity is severely lacking in our modern media.
>MUH RELATEABILITY
Oh they can absolutely fuck off with that. One, Clark is the most every everyman to ever every. Dude is basically Dorky McSitcomdad for fucks sake. And two, not being able to enjoy a character because they don't act exactly like yourself is fucking asinine. Hell, I don't want a character who's just like me, cause I'm some asshole rando. I'd rather see the story of someone more interesting than me.
Oh yeah, I know that, but I think red kryptonite from post-crisis continuity was a mxy thing. Luthor tried to make some, it failed, but Mxy animated it and made it steal Superman's powers.
I think it was an ordway plot
I heard an interview where Zdarsky made it sound like it’s wrapping up and bleeding cool is doom and gloom about it but would love to be wrong.
look, it's not gay if it's for Superman, it's just understandable
And there's Grunge on his side.
Yeah, that sounds accurate. Course, I'm more familiar with Pre-Crisis supes than Post. Because one if Maggin and the other is fricking Byrne.
something tells me this is a pretty good reaction image, if I was better at photoshop I would've thrown an actual reee in there
Yep. Krisis of the krymsom kryptonite. I think that's how it was actually spelled.
Take the R from Ruin and the E from Women or Everything, then resize?
I love how surprised Clark is that that shit actually worked
Krimsom
>Superman (Volume 2) #49
>Adventures of Superman #472
>Starman #28
>Action Comics #659
>Superman (Volume 2) #50
Thank god for those fan-made compilations.
Triangle era Superman scratched a very specific type of comics itch for people in the same way Spider-Man did for me at that time. I don't blame anyone for having a fondness for that era.
I could see a lot of people finding it boring, but it's certainly not because of Clark's powers or personality, if so.
d'awwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
I'm no wizard, it took all of my mad hacking skillz to make that
Roxy's like "Hey, Caitlin, mind lending that to me once you've had your fill?"
that was truly wonderful, thank you
thanks for reading, back tomorrow with I think there's some more random Gen13 stuff
Cool Schumacher costumes
thank you OP, this storytime made my day, this is one of the few Superman stories that don't suck to me
the clone saga and all that lead up to Action Comics 700 was fucking fantastic, but can never happen again.
Four books coordinating for over two years to pull off one of the most cathartic endings to a plot in capeshit
Thanks for posting as always, Storyteller.
That was just damn solid and enjoyable. Again, probably one of the better of this type of story.
Wholesome.
The amount of time I waste on this type of shit
Not all heroes wear capes.
That last panel is literally the fucking Viper cover album meme
>Super dense
Lol.
i have no life
Adorable.
I love the idea of a super hero just showing up on a bicycle.
10/10
To be fair modern superman stories usually have Superman easily dispatching a thread before the actual multi-part story begins.
Thanks for the story, it was fun.
you're a godsend user, a man among manchildren
Hello OP. I missed storytime!
I like how this cover parallels the first Campbell cover, but with Caitlyn checking out Suoerman's ass this time.
And Nate with the "Why boner"
Roxy and Rainmaker have felt kinda off this whole mini.
This is adorable and Caitlyn should do it with sick children in hospitals.
Hey Maggie Sawyer before they ruined her by turning her into a Bat-character!
And Dan Turpin?
SCU is what usually deals with Superman related stuff, Science Police is from Legion, but around OYL, they added them to modern Metropolis as part of the larger New Krypton arc.
They have to act flanderized so they could like Superman later.
>And two, not being able to enjoy a character because they don't act exactly like yourself is fucking asinine.
Worse still is the internet helping to extend the idea of not being able to relate to a character you don't look like, either.
Thanks for running OP.
Gen13 has been fun.
Fair enough. Roxy wasn't flighty enough and Sarah was too flighty, but I suppose in the interest of contrasting the kids and Supes it works.
I put off reading Superman for ages because his fanbase cries to much about shit like this.
stop it. It’s a turn off.
Reading the Exile omni right now. It’s great. I’m not sure why everyone is so down on Jurgens. I liked the first couple years of his Thor too.
me too, I'm like one of the Gen13 kids here
hilariously enough superman himself admitted he wasn't cool in this "I was never fashionable so I can never be unfashionable" Its a solid way to describe his longevity
(I think his Thor stacks up with anyone’s but I’m also a huge JrJr fan)
Jurgens devoting like 3 years of his Thor run to an extended storyline where Thor gets drunk on power, conquers the Earth, kills the Avengers and has to undo it all was one of the more epic things to have ever been done with the character.
bump reading now
