i woulnd't be to harsh, given their $7:00-$8:00 price range it seems the comics don't really have a high budget, so you are kinda getting what you pay for.
the art varies from being good to not so good and to the charmingly cute and simple but i would blame the not so good on the artist not being that good in drawing in the LH style and resorting to tracing and a possible rushed job.
As for the writing it again varies from pretty entertaining to just eh. i suspect they were trying to replicate the feel of old newspaper comic strips (the LH biggest inspiration) which weren't really high art lets be honest.
