Yeah, I'm thinking she's going to be based.

watch him sing some stupid song and make everything better
Why do you even care, the show's trash, its been trash since inception
this
I want her to win is that wrong bros?
Yes she will.
For an hour. Then in the third act she’ll be redeemed and become a boring character. Like White
SINGING NO JUTSU!!
There is a song near the end call “let us adore you (reprise)” which I think is aimed at her.
So yeah, pretty hypocritical
We haven't even seen White's true personality, what are even talking about?
>which I think is aimed at her.
>I think
discarded.
Well I KNOW this movie is gonna be fucking garbage at least
Not him, but that song is all the diamonds and spinel as per the song list. But yeah I agree OP, she's gonna be a great antagonist. Basically Aquamarine on steroids but with an obvious personal connection to Steven and most likely Pearl, Rose and Pink.
Plus she's voiced by Sarah Stiles from Avenue Q and is featured in 6 songs (one of which is a solo) so that's cool too.
who do i have to kill too get spinel getting facefucked with running mascara where her black marks are
How the fuck is she supposed to pose any kind of threat? They've got the Diamonds on speed dial and Steven should be even more OP than he was 2 years prior. How does this random chucklefuck pose any kind of danger?
I am not one of those guys who has to bitch about everything SU related but there is straight up no chance that she won't be redeemed at this point. He won't sing her down he will just talk her down and all of the wind will fly right the fuck out of the movie's sails in an instant.
>There is a song near the end call “let us adore you (reprise)”
>Not him, but that song is all the diamonds and spinel as per the song list
Consider the following:
It's a song about Earth itself.
So another Talk no Jutsu?
Damn, just as they are about to mix things up in a freakin' musical movie.
Any number of reasons. For one, his leg ship is stored on Homeworld and he has a warp connection there now. No direct connection and no way out
trouble
Doing something random instead of actually sticking to your message or ideals isn't "mixing it up". That's how you get directionless and hollow content like The Last Jedi.
4-way diamond fusion Carbonado when?
I'm definitely getting a Far Cry 3 vibe here, where the work sets up one bad guy as being the main antagonist only to get defeated and replaced with a new previously-unmentioned antagonist before the story is over.
Commision it, poorfag
I just wonder what it means that they're not in the finale song.
>Look up spinel on r34
>Only one result that's actually her
>It looks like shit
Early days yet, wait for after the 2nd. Also bara art with Steg and Opal (Potential spoiler for the movie)
>it's literally ms paint tier
Oh yes, I do wonder what will the personality of a character constructed to be a villain will be.
It certainly won’t be boring and lame.
>You can't just make everything better by singing some stupid song!
Goddamn it, this is gonna end like Mother 1 and Earthbound isn't it?
Wouldn't this be the first time steven's even sung to a villain? At most I can think of jasper and that was garnet while they punched the shit out of each other.
He's never saved the day by singing.
The closest was Garnet singing Stronger Than You in Jailbreak. He's never cried either so maybe we can go for a twofer!
> A Harley Quinn like gem
> Based
Nah.
Red herring, she's so gonna get reformed with a song.
The song made everything worse, what are you talking about?
>Giegue gets song'd into submission
>Goes so insane from confusion and grief that he ends up becoming into Azathoth, effectively becoming the source of all evil in the entire timeline of the world.
>His influence ends up turning Porky into the monster from Mother 3.
Ok SU fags, help me understand this.
>Steven has never sung a villain into redemption
Then why does that line exist? Why was it written if singing doesn´t make people change their minds on this show?
He made Peridot complete her redemption by singing. Also like 4 or 5 problems were solved by singing as well like Pearl and Greg old bad feelings.
there's peridot, but at that point she was basically already switched
>why does it exist
criticism on Yea Forums has devolved into shitty one liner memes
it doesn't matter if it's accurate because it's just an insult
I just realized that this yet another homicidal gem from homeworld ready to fuck shit up that the CGs forgot to warn Steven about prior to said homicidal gem tearing everyone a new asshole...
Actually, peridot didn't fully switch until the following episode
After steven sung to her about how amazing the earth is now, she basically just said "man wouldn't it be great if everything blew up?"
Ah good old peridot.
She still has those zingers in her
>In 42 hours all organic life (...) will die. Birds, plants, animals...you know *shrugs* people
>Welcome back! You're just in time for the end of the world!
>villain acts as a surrogate for critics of the show
>thinking that villain won't eventually succumb to the very things they criticize
Adorable.
>comparing a major plot situation where a potentially dangerously naive sentiment is challenged to TLJ
It's not something random, it's a direct challenge to the idea that the show is built on, not a disrespectful half assed attempt at subverting expectations and pissing people off.
spbp
She's what you call an "anime movie villain". You've never heard of her before and by the time it's over Steven won't even remember her name. But for the next 90 minutes she'll be treated lime the most badass motherfucker that has ever walked this Earth.
The idea is challenged by literally every antagonist of the show though, it's the ideal that they can't squash since it's such a powerful and comforting one. I get not liking it, I even get being annoyed by it, but this is why people like Steven Universe so much. Talking things out obviously doesn't have a 100% success rate irl, but in the show it's possible. I think kids deserve a show like that and I think it's important for the older fans too.
I've enjoyed plenty of shows where the villian is beaten down with force or even killed and I will again when SU's done, but for this one show I want them to stay the course. It just wouldn't be the same show otherwise.
I'm thinking that Steven is going to talk to her. He will reason with her. I don't know if this is good or bad. Is talking down your enemy bad? I guess whatever works. History has proven that violence works more often. Is that bad? Is that just reality? I think that arguing about it on a cartoon/comics image board is pointless and yet here I am.
I just hope the animation is adequate.
god I really REALLY just want to see a gem get shattered. Is that really too much to ask?
I think you might, though I'm not sure if it'll be Spinel or not. There were official bingo cards handed by CN during S5 and a few of the squares were never checked off.
They are:
>1) Beach City gets destroyed
>2) Diamond Fusion
>3) A gem gets shattered
>4) Onion steals a spaceship
Now 1 you can see clearly happening in the trailer (will probably be reversed at the end) and 2 might just be referring to Rose and Pearl's first fusion attempt in Now We're Only Falling Apart, but 3 and 4 are still up in the air.
If I had to guess
>Spinel did something in the past that resulted in a shattering so Rose cast her out
>Onion stole Lars' ship and took it for a joyride
It won't happen but damn everyone would go nuts if the crazy gem actually did it
the trailer is cool and all, but I really don't like the steriotypical "THIS SUMMER" narrator voice
I was half expecting it for Jasper back in the day. Would still sincerely enjoy it.
>The idea is challenged by literally every antagonist of the show though, it's the ideal that they can't squash since it's such a powerful and comforting one
But is it really? An approach that works practically all the time creates no suspense or worthwhile investment. Why do you think so many people are complaining?
>Talking things out obviously doesn't have a 100% success rate irl, but in the show it's possible. I think kids deserve a show like that and I think it's important for the older fans too.
I don't because it's pretty dangerously naive. Say what you will about comforting fantasies but there comes a point where reality does and should come crashing in. There are other shows with peace and talking things out as a message but this show is trying to teach a message about peace while having it's world and characters bend over backwards for it or become irrelevant and ignored for it when it doesn't work. You're right that talking doesn't work in the real world all the time, in fact situations as grave as in the show with the approach Steven has, it rarely does.
It's like a show where hyperviolence with minimal consequences is the answer to everything, it's just the opposite side of the spectrum.
Most shows have a middle ground between talking and fighting for this very reason.
>Talking things out obviously doesn't have a 100% success rate irl, but in the show it's possible.
And this is the main problem with this show; virtually no one actually believes the utter horseshit that's being presented in the show. Not the people in the show, not the people watching the show, not even the people MAKING the show. There's an air of insincerity around the whole thing that most other saccharine friendship shows simply don't have.
Calling it naive is pretty ironic my dude. No child is going to watch this show and think they can talk dictators down, it's why clowns like Lily Peet never made any headway with their terrible "it condones/promotes fascism" arguments because those ideals were shown to be weak, feeble and eventually completely dismantled. No child falls for this tripe, it's nitpicking at best and concern trolling at worst.
You're being way too gung ho about this, it's a fantasy sci-fi show for children. Let them escape for a bit before the grey dreck of life pulls them in again.
What? No seriously, what? Nothing you said there makes sense. The showrunner who is on record as stating that the show is clearly escapsim and real life isn't so simple doesn't believe the thing she just said?
I need a Yea Forums to English translation device for this.
Ragyo was based as all hell
You're the one who's saying it's important for kids and adult fans like it's not some dumb escapist fantasy.
How is it not important? I've seen a fair few anons both on Yea Forums and off say the show has helped them with their lives. It's good for simple things like emotional management or mindful meditation.
>with a new previously-unmentioned antagonist before the story is over.
But the antagonist in Far Cry 3 was built up as Vass' boss even before his death. Hell, he was there since the very first cutscene.
>"Vaas! Stop scaring the hostages! I need you to take care of the rejects."
Well she is and will always be best mom. Also, nice satan trips
Most media has the potential to do that, even ones that don't have the same messages as SU. When a person needs a fantasy completely devoid of consequences like the carebears to straighten them out it's more a testament to their own problems and will than the actual quality or importance of the thing in question.
What consequences? It's still good guy beats bad guy at the end of the day, you're just stubbornly refusing to accept the execution for reasons obviously related to your biases. Sorry user but you're jaded. I feel like you're two posts away from screaming about libtards being hippies or whatever. I tried to give you the benefit of the doubt but you really don't get it and that's a damn shame. It's not the show's fault you've mistaken physical conflict as the only way a person can grow and mature, that one is entirely on you.
Reminder that a screening for the movie is happening tomorrow so expect spoilers then
The businessman guy was technically present but it never felt like he had a large role in the plot until Vaas died, or even did anything that memorable prior to that point. I guess he was shown once and he was alluded to sporadically, but it's nothing extensive. They may as well have just made him an unseen, off-screen character who's vaguely directing Vaas' atrocities from behind the scenes. Businessman guy didn't need to be there in person because Vaas and his sister worked just fine as the main antagonists.
It doesn't help that businessman guy was a cliched non-character, or that he didn't have a real tangible connection to Jason's struggle beyond being Vaas' boss. Vaas had a tragic side and an interesting connection with Jason, but businessman guy was just the stock "evil corporate executive" archetype.
>It's still good guy beats bad guy at the end of the day, you're just stubbornly refusing to accept the execution for reasons obviously related to your biases
I don't care about good guys beating bad guys. I care about how they get to that point and how much the hero has to lose to get from A to B. When I know how they get there and they get there in a way you know and with miminal effort in a way that bends the story around them to accomodate it of course I'm going to be biased. I'd hate if in some show that a conflict that could be resolved though communication was instead solved with violence just because that was the message.
>I feel like you're two posts away from screaming about libtards being hippies or whatever.
That's a lot of assumptions and projection on your part. Have I even brought up anything political?
>I tried to give you the benefit of the doubt but you really don't get it and that's a damn shame
>its just 2deep4 you faggot
>It's not the show's fault you've mistaken physical conflict as the only way a person can grow and mature, that one is entirely on you.
I never said that. I literally said in an earlier post that there's usually a middle ground and that hyperviolence as the answer to everything was just as bad.
Calling it now, screencap if you care: they'll make her ruthless and/or insane enough that she doesn't stop because of a song or talking, instead they'll go with the Disney villain treatment where she'll get blasted by her own device/power and either be sent away or puffed and bubbled so the heroes can defeat the villain without delivering the finishing blow themselves. They'll likely keep baiting people by saying Steven can't talk his way out this time et the only thing he'll do is spar a bit and maybe have a couple power feats.
I'd like to think that the movie ends with Steven having to do a "heroic" sacrifice and either die for good or have to give up being a hybrid and go pure gem or pure human
They specifically say in the trialer that theres no time for anything. I wouldn't be surprised if the movie takes place in real time.
im gonna robust you with a bike horn
It wants to be escapism while also trying to address real life issues? The show is a walking contradiction.
Are you trying to reason someone around hard facts? Theres no problem to figure out here, people aren't guessing at wrong answers. He hasnt sung to turn a villain before, the fact that youre still stuck on that as if that's wrong despite never seeing the show shows you shouldnt trust Yea Forums on what to watch.
It really doesn't work all the time though.
>centipedle
Had to be bubbled and shelved for later, too far gone to reason with.
>Peridot
Came to her own conclusions, even resisted joining the gems for a bit after leaving Yellow.
>Lapis
Started as Stevens friend and mostly stayed neutral anyways, no conversion necesary.
>Jasper
Literally never listened. She corrupted herself to avoid talking it out, and shouted Steven down to her dying breath. Steven clearly fails plenty of times.
>Lars
It took about four redemption centric episodes that he ignored and him dying for him to change.
that's a nice king crimson impression
>it's invite only
that theater has really uncomfortable seating anyway...
No way. They will absolutely never make Steven have to take a side like that. I'm telling you the only thing he'll do in this movie is get serious once the machine starts killing earth and show a feat of strength (to show he's learning to use his powers with the years) then he battles the villain as I said her own actions backfire and she gets poofed for it. Maybe if they want some extra drama make her actually shatter and Steven lament that he couldn't save her (before reviving her with his magic Jesus powers).
Why would you think that when you KNOW she's going to be proven wrong?
Reminder that Jasper isn't in the movie even though off-colors and other random Gem Townies are confirmed
Have seen the movie
Can confirm Jasper is in it
>Plus she's voiced by Sarah Stiles from Avenue Q
Sauce? If true, great.
>gem townies
Signs that youre just looking for shit to complaim about, saying this phrase.
>defeating the enemy by singing
You've never seen Attack of the Killer Tomatoes, haven't you?
What the fuck is this horrible design
Just because it’s not fuckable doesn’t mean it’s a terrible design faggot.
Spinel is by far the best designed character on the show. Her rubberhose cartoon clown look is much more interesting then most other Gems. The only other character with an interesting multi-layered design like Spinel is Blue Diamond.
Maybe she’s more powerful then the Diamonds?
She could’ve curb stomped all three of them as soon as they got there as far as we know.
Uuhh...
Will Steven also get an anime movie girlfriend or is that too heterosexual for this show?
Wait, her name is...Spinel?
PFFFFTT AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH SERIOUSLY?
SPINEL?
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
DEEDEE! GET OUT OF MY STEVEN UNIVERSE SPECIAL!
KEK, be hetero in Steven Universe is some kind of hate crime
wrong. women are for sex and the design of female characters should reflect that
but what about steven himself?
Rock Breasted Girls will NOT be Going To The Beach And Taking Their Tops Off in *this* movie young man!
this artstyle
Alternatively
Yes I can.
>instant loss 2koma
>White's true personality
what are you hallucinating?
is there a new trailer?
this
that is what they all say/sing
youtube.com
Considering that all the plot points of SU are from Pink/Rose LARPing and committing suicide via murdercock, Steven is literally the the living abominable embodiment of heterosexuality being deadly to gems and their society. Even Steven+Connie only works because Connie is a tomboy and is more masculine than Steven now. Connie might as well be an otter shota pegging Steven's boipussy with how she wears the pants in the relationship.
grow up
Keep jacking off, faggot. I'm sure that's doing wonders for you, you fool.
So the villain gem is called Spinel? Where did this get confirmed?
>just because it's not fuckable
you fool, her rubberhose look is EXACTLY why she turns me on
Just like Disney hate this is just promotion for the movie mate, don't let it bother you.
Shills be shills
hey leave Basara out this shit show
>voice actress is currently in a musical where a guy dresses up as a girl to usurp acting roles and is therefore deemed transphobic
Oh. So that's why she's the villain.
Nice
Imagine if the rest of the movie was as good as that song
>inb4 an intellectual song saves the day
does Yea Forums still remember bauhaus?
