Because they either grew up with Wally in the comics or cartoon, or he was their first exposure to the legacy concept.

Honestly, a lot of people first gain a love of DC through Wally's story.

Yea Forums is also obsessed with the concept of "how many good stories does x have?"; Barry really only has one super mature storyline for mature readers such as myself and that's his trial, so most people just equate him with Silver Age wackadoo stuff. Plus people equate his return with Didio, even though every writer at DC wanted him back except for Waid, including Morrison himself.

One thing that I think takes away from him is he's characterized these days as too young, when he should be authoritative and a bit older and more experienced. It makes him feel a bit too similar to how Waid and Johns wrote Wally.

I don't think that Yea Forums hated Barry.Most people are bothered that DC seems to have shafted most of the Flash family to prop him up.

DC ruined a perfect story by bringing him back to life only to do mediocre stories when he already went as a legend and had a sidekick that surpassed him a long time ago and had the best Flash stories ever told.

Him dying in the first place was awful shock value shit, it was only redeemed by Waid
