So user, how's that fanfic going? You aren't procrastinating, are you?

Orwellian

In my home country of Chechnya this video has caused many murder suicide.

I'm done writing my nsfw Bomberman fanfic

>wrote 4k words then just stopped
>haven't updated in months
>people are starting to get annoyed
Fuck

I want to say that I'm getting close to done with my Shocker fic's prologue, but it's been taking longer than expected so I dunno.

>people are starting to get annoyed
Is this really what fanfic writers worry about?

Only the ones that do it for attention

It's a pretty secondary concern but yes

Seems unnecessary if people can find and read other fanfics.

>Tell me, Yellow, if you can. You have already destroyed so much. What is it, exactly, that you have created? Can you name even one thing? I thought not.

HA! I write original shit now user!

>You aren't procrastinating, are you?

Uh...

>Welcome... to City 17. It's safer here.

>First you lead me straight to the doorstep of my oldest friend and then you deliver yourself.

>If I'd known you were going come straight up to my office, I wouldn't have bothered hunting you in the first place.

That's the problem, mate, there aren't many.
I only give a story the time of day if it has perfect English, anything less goes to the trash. Add that to both the relative difficulty of speaking English, difficulty of sorting through stories and ease of entering sites not called AO3 and you have a recipe for very few good stories rising to the surface. Consider the ones that have terrible characterisation and plots and that list drops even more. As a result, when I find a diamond in the rough I get invested in it, and it's annoying when they just stop updating even though I have no real right to feel that way given that it's completely free.

>Having both of you in my keeping ensures I can dictate the terms of any bargain I care to make with the M&Ms.

I don't write fanfics any more, I write original fiction now.

Actually, that's a lie, I still write fanfics too. But I tend to prefer shorter fanfics these days, and I finished the last one a few months ago. Haven't felt an urge to write a new one.

Before I respond, are you a fanfic writer? If so, are you in a social circle where others are also writers and critique fanfic?

Would you fuck the green m&m tho?

Alright, I'll bite.

Show your work.

keep going

>not a writer
>not good at writing
>want to write anyway
>write
>its utter shit

Ive started my Hellboy anthology, I just need to get into the writing groove.

>What neither you nor I can do is convince that rabble in the streets to give up their senseless struggle.

>are you a fanfic writer?
Yes.
>are you in a social circle where others are also writers and critique fanfic?
Not a circle, exactly. I do, however, have one guy that I brainstorm ideas with. My long-term plans have been made better by his ideas and I appreciate his input. Does that help?

I finished it months ago.

>Will you let your stubborn short-sightedness doom the entire species, or will you give your child the chance Yellow never had?

Just continue writing, everybody, and I mean everybody, was shit at writing when they started. However what separates the wheat from the chaff is that some writers continued writing and looked for ways to improve rather than throwing in the towel. Just post your shit under some fake throwaway account and learn from it, and then you can actually start writing.

It explains why you feel the way you do then. It's common for creators and their audience to view the craft so differently. It's also common for creators to overplay the importance of what they create in fear of criticism or harassment from the audience. Fanfics exist in all languages and there are so many of them. It's up to "fans" to find the right fanfics. To recognize the difficulty in that doesn't mean that a good fanfic of your favorite series is rare, just means it is hard to find.

I just find it hard to get motivated to write anymore, especially delivering on here. You'll get, what, 2 or 3 people saying "cool" or "Its shit" and that will be the end of it and the feedback. I've had like 3 or 4 fics in mind, one 2/3rds completed, and zero work ethic to continue unfortunately. How do I fall back in love with writing? Was thinking of posting on archiveofourown.

>Yellow. You really shouldn't be out there. At the moment of synapse, as I teleport, this chamber will be bathed in deadly particles that have yet to be named by human science. Perhaps when I have the leisure to do the work myself, I'll name one after you. That way you won't be completely forgotten.

Go ahead, Red, if that's the worst you can do, send us both through your portal!
