The amount of shitposting and obvious bait in this thread is unbelievable but since I'm rewatching it right now I'll take this chance to talk about it.

Dipper is a great main character. He's the straight man and voice of reason for most of the show, but has enough quirks to be entertaining. At no point in either season is he ever very poorly written, and even hischaracters flaws are generally endearing or at the very worst, short-lived, non-obtrusive and understandable.

I think dipper is actually one of the less grating examples of that kind of character. He's still flawed in ways that the show criticizes and gives him consequences for and he isn't perfectly interchangeable with every other character of his type. I think it also helps that the show gives much more focus to side characters to the point that he really doesn't feel like the most important player by the end of the series.
