How does one stop comparing themselves to other artists?
Brandon Mitchell
well fuck, that's way more vibrant than it was on my screen and now the site won't let me upload a different version
Joseph Reyes
Early on, most characters were people I knew, although slightly adjusted. 80% of what one certain prominent character says stems from the real life origin. I have this problem that I'm running out of material to write the character with and the source has gone in hiding. tapas.io/episode/1498863
no, otherwise they'd be the same word. influence pertains to things that affect and may even show up in your art. inspiration pertains to things that drive you to create that art.
Nolan Campbell
That's the exact same thing user
Camden Gomez
there can be overlap, but it's absolutely not the same thing your dead mom inspires you. national geographic pictures inspire you.
Michael Fisher
>national geographic pictures don't* inspire you.
Carson Cooper
Can anyone explain to me why when I reduce the size of to it changes the color like that. They look the same in the folder preview
I don't think this is the first time this has happened to me and I just don't understand it
Adrian Gray
Would any of you read a comic that's in this sort of style?
>What are your inspirations? Quite a lot, honestly.... I'm inspired by anything from cartoons, video games, locations, real life experiences, to small things like the feel of a cool breeze to the way light reflects on water and how pebbles sound underneath a footstep....
There's also a quote from a movie director that resonated a lot with me in particular. I don't recall it exactly, but it greatly inspired me to continue working on my projects.
not that I'm aware of Just reduced image size from photoshop is there a different/better way?
Josiah Cox
If you want to draw fan art just draw it you spaz.
Jacob Wilson
You’re a treasure chanchimi. Don’t ever change.
Caleb Wilson
there are a billion options when you do that, check them all for some color mode change contest guy please don't be possessive about your contests. It's cool you work so hard on them but it's really mostly you that cares about them one way or the other.
Brayden Flores
save as a full sized in ps and shrink it in mspaint, see what happens
Elijah Davis
>Ask if anyone wants in >Get 4 people I don't think so user. I wouldn't be able to do this at all without at least four other entrants. Why the hell do you have a stick up your ass about me? I'm not stopping you from doing whatever fantart exchange thing you want to do. Go do it. I'm not stopping you.
Jacob White
and I certainly hope interest remains this time, long enough to actually finish
James Lee
The last one finished.
Daniel Wright
That's being pretty generous, but I'm not trying to make you feel bad about your thing. Just realistic.
Xavier Adams
So what are the rules for cat fight tournament?
Nolan Allen
1. no fat ugly hookers
Dylan Sanders
be so dogshit at art that theres no point of comparing yourself to anyone
Xavier Perez
That has to be one of, if not the nicest things anyone has said to me on here.... Thank you user, it means a ton. You made my day!
Robert Edwards
No, I seriously want to know how to stop comparing myself to better artists
Elijah Adams
>Being pretty generous By that you mean "Yes, it did actually finish."
1. You draw your character wrestling with whichever character you're matched up with, your opponent does the same. Mild lewdness is encouraged. 2. Thread votes 3. Winner advances to the next round, loser draws their character tapping out, giving up, or suffering some form of humiliation. The very first one from over a year ago ended with a foot kiss, though it's up to the loser how far they want to take it.
Can the four entrants please post a reference for their character as well as briefly explain their personalities/histories/abilities?
Juan Howard
test 2
Comparison isn't bad, but demeaning oneself due to not measuring up to others abilities is where it becomes destructive. personally still trying to get to the point of learning from others work instead of shutting down when i cant get it right.
1) Metro 2033/34/Exodus + Fallout 4: FROST (for the tone and environment); 2) Skyrim (it pushed me into worldbuilding myself, without magic shit though and no fucking elves, orcs, dwarves etc etc); 3) 1800s (for the technological level); 4) Deus Ex: Human Revolution (for the whole conspiracy part, plus a faction is inspired by the Illuminati); 5) Nazi Germany + Soviet Russia (for a key faction); 6) History + geography in general (always handy)
Brayden Smith
wh-what if my mask DOES cover my ears?
Landon Reed
looks just like the last one, which sounds like what you intended. it's the better design too imo, the green is much better suited for her. it's good stuff user, sharp and clean.
Jaxson Johnson
Thank you kindly, that's good to hear
Still not sure what happened with the first post, but glad there is a way around it
Chase Hill
I went and took screenshots of the director's quote that inspired me. Kinda long, but I figured I'd share it. I always strive to create stories that can move people in some way, and his words motivated me further to work hard towards that goal, regardless of how silly or low-brow my stories can be sometimes (though not quite on the same level as Troll 2, haha.)
yeah. she is leader of the sky high sentai, a military aircraft themed team. she pilots an Sr71 Blackbird wich forms the head of the mecha, Turbulancer.
Anthony Moore
>blunt bangs
Good design (tm)
Alexander Cook
>Inspirations The Power of Stardust is strongly influenced by the Outer Limits, both in how it looks and in its story. It's ultimately a story about a destructive outsider and a lot of OL had that theme--Galaxy Invader, The Man who was Never Born, Behold Eeck, I Robot, etc.
I think I might be the only superhero comic that can say that.
It depends on the superbeings involved. When on Spectro and Stardusts level, things get real abstract and really weird like in the fight with the energy dragon. One of the ideas that's going to be explore in issue two is that WW2 is much, much, MUCH more vast than just a planet. It drives Spectro to a great depression that he and the other superhumans can pull off cosmic feats and do the impossible and yet they're stuck making slow, brutal progress fighting over
And the worst part to Spectro is that they let it happen. The superhumans of the world had a "watch and contain" attitude towards the Axis. They didn't want to bully elected governments. They created islands for Axis countries (which includes Russia and a Spain that never had a Spanish Civil War) to send undesirables and in exchange they allowed them to sabre rattle and build up their military.
In something like DC, the reason the big superheroes didn't stomp Hitler was because he had the spear of destiny. Here, its because the Axis powers had Vril, and kami, and the coolest of all--the children of Futuro modeled after Italian Futurism.
So battles range from guys blowing up robots to abstract cosmic stuff taking place "behind the curtains" of the universe.
I would read, subscribe, and buy. That style is right up my alley.
What, a guy can't compliment a girl online? Get real.
Caleb Bell
I mean, who doesn't? Most of us are just aware that it's not allowed, like most wholesome things. It's far more acceptable to harrass people
Jeremiah Cooper
I don't
Jeremiah Wright
Man, what a terrible week it was. I haven't done anything productive because of my stomach, almost killed my mood for the whole thing. And today i had headache all day. Finally i started drawing again, hopefully i will release character spreadsheet in couple of days.
I make the little decisions with a dice, maybe a cointoss?
Kevin Bailey
I think this one is the best.
William Hughes
I didn't post this one I used india ink brush to color this instead of the fill tool, and I changed the hat color. I don't know which hat looks decent though.
Mason Fisher
You respond to it when you're announcing your comic's been updated, for easier viewing.
I'm on a road trip until the week after next, so I don't have anything new. I'll simply report this week's six supplementary hiatus updates for The Concord Initiative.
that's been done too many times. It'd be funny if someone actually sued someone else over their mcdonalds parody being ripped off. that said, had it been an upside-down triple-arch, you could have at least pronounced it "Triple-yu" as it is I have no idea how you'd say that thing, and NO idea how you'd write its name. Though I guess if you write it by hand you can just go (triple-lobed-M)cArthur's or whatever.
Chase Cruz
I actually didn't give it thought to how the triple-M would be pronounced. Somehow the fact that it's difficult to figure out makes it funnier, haha
Parker Sanchez
really love the colours in this. has an otherworldly feel... she's secretly quarantined.
Elijah Gutierrez
>Hey let's go to... uh, fast food. >Sure, where? >You know, the.. place. >Oh I love that place! The sauce on the Big... uh.. sandwich.. is really good, I'd buy it bottled. >I like (car passes and blocks the noise)nuggets.
Ryan Butler
Thanks, cooks! Happy to hear you think so! I was looking up the interiors of 90's McDonald's, and found their color schemes and lighting had a somewhat unnerving quality about them, so I decided to try and capture that in this piece!
Darn it. You're making me want to draw that out now, haha.
at least it sounds like he did it deliberately, didn't just disappear like the Count Your Sheep guy
Asher Cook
yeah i have the entire script done, with character arcs and everthing. the only thing im winging is some dialogue and paneling. if you pay attention as the story goes on, there is not a single throw away joke. everything is plot relevant the joke about the hind geting smashed by a one one eyed monster is from the very first page of the comic.
Asher Baker
Here's my character T-Posing in 3D to dominate all you 2D dudes.
It's so different from his usual pose. I'm freaking out here!!
Charles Ross
Thank you, Ardi!! So happy to hear!! I am planning on having it fully finished before publishing. I know it will take longer this way, but I fear if I begin releasing it while I'm still working on it I could burn out, like with what happened on my Color Seekers comic....
By the way, your pages are looking FANTASTIC.
William Scott
just finished two more pages, probably my best ones yet! what do you think Yea Forums bros?
This is like what a lot of modern cartoons would look like if they had a budget. I'm so wonderfully disturbed.
Matthew Brooks
Got to reread it and you art got noticeably better between chapter 1 and 2.
Well, we can wait. Im actually happy about it. I feel like most webcomics suffer because of the slow, short updates. When you are reading the entire thing in one go its a different and better experience in most cases.
kek, thanks user! funny you mention budget, because I'm poor as shit. I'm hoping to eventually get a patreon going but I'm probably going to need a lot more pages and hype before I can do that. Seriously though I appreciate any feedback, I feel like I'm going crazy when it's 3am and I'm alone drawing literally tittymonsters.
got any good recommendations? I'm a complete noob at the actual publishing aspect of this stuff. I'm posting here mostly to gauge interest and generate hype.
Blake Richardson
The sites I see used are Tapas, webtoons and smackjeeves. Those pages look astounding imo. I normally reccomend tapas because im a cheap fuck and like reading all the series I follow on the same site.
Some create their own websites too but I know nothing about that.
James Nguyen
I could see you making money with this if you do it right. ganbare.
Christopher Davis
A B S O L U T E N O I R
Christian Ortiz
I feel like I must be missing something in this one
also next time you do a fancomic contest, it should be something original, not just redrawing a panel. I bet you'll get a lot of creative stuff since this comic is so simple and geared towards good gags.
Grayson Clark
thank you so much, that means a lot to me.
Noah Ross
Arigato senpais! I'll check out those sites. I'm really glad you guys believe in me. It might sound gay but you're kind words keep me going.
I appreciate your patience!! At the moment, I do plan to release it in updates though as opposed to all at once.... But because the pages will be all completed, the updates will be frequent and consistent! :)
Jack Campbell
is not gay if the webcomics dont touch
Grayson Ortiz
we are all friends
Justin Wright
Is it true that just doing a webcomic can help you become a better artist?
Brandon Garcia
It depends. If you rigidly stick to your update schedule, it can only entrench your bad habits. But showing a comic around here can help you see problems you didn't realize your art had. And comics in general have a way of bringing up things to draw that you'd never drawn before, or wouldn't have drawn otherwise. So ideally that makes you stop and learn how. I think it'd be more accurate to say that becoming a better artist can help you do a webcomic.
Dylan Hernandez
bump for catfight
Carson Williams
I mean, realistically you're going to be drawing a bunch, and drawing a bunch is basically practice, soo...
Isaiah Thompson
YES, PLEASE It will be popular too, you'll have the Cuphead vedditor audience.
Camden Lee
Not that other Cuphead guy, but here's my original character Fox-Ox the Ox-Fox. Do no steals.
>design a character finally. get most of the details. > Can't draw him in a good enough pose for a cover. guess this is what I get for drawing porn all the time. The fairies are coming pretty easy though.
Anyone got tips on drawing dudes? I'm great at women but all my male characters look wack
Jordan Lopez
How do you find the energy to make a comic while having other NECESSARY responsibilities? >if you want to pursue a creative ambition, you have to make time for it and see it as a long term investment >-make the conscious decision to hunker down and crank out the work, even if it means sacrificing parts of your lifestyle to do it >it takes a lot for amateur artists to realize even a small dream project. Meaning it takes willpower, discipline, consistency, time management, and patience. Is the correct summary from Gus?
Charles Richardson
When you are drawing the pelvis lines, remember to leave a space between the thighs. The dick heavily dangles in there.
Lincoln Nguyen
Um, no, you were supposed to express libtard outrage at based Stonetoss. Please try again, I worked hard on my point.
James Gutierrez
If you treat webcomics as practice, then you will get better. That means constantly coming up with poses/compositions/subject matter that you are not used to and taking yourself out of your comfort zone a little. I find that I do not branch out very much from what I'm used to when I'm just scribbling on a page, so having comics to focus on is helping me a lot.
Oliver Nelson
I... I can’t
Jace Walker
I have OCD, im scared i'll make the squares not aligned.
Any advice on how to start the actual comic? As in how to get myself from not pussying out from working on the first chapter, I have the entire story of the comic outlined and chapter one scripted but I get cold feet and derail into doing something else.
given the way moderation has worked lately, it's bold of you to flat-out admit you were trolling what would your parents think of what you're doing? OCD is what aligns your squares. if you're that scared, you can't do a comic.
Isaiah Green
Still going at it, I still don't get a lot of comments so any is welcome. There's a bigger sample now.
dude in the future it's gonna be illegal to be straight, not the other way around, get a grip
Cameron Diaz
>What are your inspirations? Robert Crumb and his art style has been a big inspiration. Say what you will about the guy, his art style is pretty fucking cool. Speaking of which, I really want to revive The Underground comics of the 80s-90s style of comics. Nobody really does stuff like this anymore, or atleast not in a large scale. Digital and clean art seems to be a the rage these days. Not that I'm saying that's a bad thing of course, because of course not So I thought, "Fine I'll do it myself", Thanos style
Sooo make sure they’re aligned? What software do you use?
William Morales
(Cont'd) Forgot to say that the art is not mine. It's Crumb's.
Grayson Peterson
I thought it was about porn being illegal
Christopher Turner
I got to chapter 7 and you're right
Elijah Young
Yeah it's weird porn being illegal, this will be made clearer in some future strips.
Ian Ross
I got the impression enough from the descriptions of their crimes like 'being toxic' and 'making memes' that this is basically a future where the worst of social media moderation has taken over. It probably IS illegal to be straight. either way I don't know what to make of this comic, I kind of like it but it also kind of makes me really uncomfortable, especially in the ways that it's... so comfortable in some areas.
Brayden Gomez
> in the ways that it's... so comfortable in some areas What do you mean?
Aiden James
thank you ;_; I appreciate you like my weird style and want to see more
William Barnes
What's the best site for posting a story based comic?
Cooper Morris
i mean it's better than real prison and that reminds me of a lot of weird dreams I have where i'm in some bad situation like work or school, and some aspects of it are way more oppressive than usual, but others way more comfortable and permissive so it's just... I dunno, infantilizing. It reminds us what pansy-ass children we've all become.
Kayden Peterson
>story based comic first illuminate me on how you can have a comic without a stort
Christian Wright
gag comics exist
Luis Martinez
At work, hitting the latest (storyboard) issue. Next site I work at, i won't have to leisure of a desk to draw; rolling with the punches!
Seems legit, I'd trust her. also hey now we know where you live, cool.
Lincoln Garcia
R E L A T A B L E C O M I C S E A L L I F E
Jaxson Johnson
Yeah, the main reason it takes place in some silly future society is that all the ideas I came out with would have looked too weird and unrealistic in a contemporary setting, so I get what you mean.
The jail will switch between kinda nice and actually a bad place depending on what's funnier in the page, so yeah the reader isn't meant to think about it too much.
Just had a realization last night in regards to Space Pack.... I realized that there's a whole chunk I can cut out. I'll have to rearrange some things and go back and fix stuff, but it should make the story flow better and give more time to flesh out the characters.
so nothing happens, no progression of events at all?
Andrew Murphy
i have trouble cutting anything out
Ian Gutierrez
It's tough. For me the most difficult part is piecing it back together after making cuts. It's also kinda sad to remove a few parts I liked, but sometimes it's for the best.
Luis Ortiz
I have a different problem. I have too many possible story ideas and I can't narrow in on which story would be the best option.
Jose Cooper
Had most of my script done years ago but still editing stuff to this day, eventually when started on the comic there was a lot that could have been cut or moved to the beginning parts of the story. There seem to be no end to it, as the story became more complex more chapters and characters were added.
Christian Hall
>My inspirations Well, those are mostly animated series and video games >The DCAU, specifically B:TAS and S:TAS >Batman: The Brave and The Bold and GL: TAS >The Powerpuff Girls, Dexter's Lab, Samurai Jack, Courage the Cowardly Dog and Lenore TCLDG >Classic Mega Man, Classic Castlevania
I have the opposite problem, i'm struggling to draw females, but have less problem with guys. I usually finish all my tasks around 9 pm and draw for 2-3 hours and go to bed, if i'm not playing games with my friends or go out. Honestly it feels like i'm moving at snail's pace.
Lucas Reyes
It's a comic about a young girl who grows up to become a galactic heroine. It starts of slice-of-life-ish, but becomes more superhero-stuff later on. I'm still busy sketching out the first issue.
Yeah! It always seems like there is more that can be edited. I often have that fear of finishing a story and it being too late to go back and fix it.
James Murphy
easier to keep an eye on your sketchan if you resize first, friend
Jose Garcia
I could consider joining but 5 is a mess. Maybe if someone else joins before. Not making promises.
Eli Myers
Only 5 means 1 person is seeded
Wyatt Russell
True, six would be easier to work with than 5.
Nolan Nelson
There would be byes with any number between 4 and 8. I'm not opposed to byes, but I can understand why Ardi would think a bye in the first round is a mess.
Gavin Roberts
Arigato for the tips, user
Angel Martinez
I don’t know how long you want to wait, but I’ll give it a shot if you can wait for me to return from a road trip next week, September 2/3
Owen Parker
A week before round 1 sounds alright. What character are you going to enter?
Juan Anderson
Wait, who would you be using? I thought you were against these events?
Kevin Walker
Ardi did dodge actual lewdness on the last event but that kinda misses the point of the whole thing.
Austin Thompson
Well, if it has to be lewd, I am not interested. I understand that lewdness is encouraged, and that’s fine, but I’m more interested in drawing some cool fight scenes.
As before, I have Estella. I have a better reference for her at home, but I have this on my phone.
I’m more than willing to participate, but I do admit that I’m not interested in drawing lewds. That would be a turn off, pun intended.
Carson Gray
Lewdness is encouraged, but not a requirement. If you want to then by all means enter her. Can you tell us about her powers/abilities/character?
Ian Lee
I, for one, would love to see her in this event. She exudes raw cryptid energy so its just perfect. No lewd needed. I wouldnt even know where to begin to lewd this girl.
That said if the point of the event is indeed lewds, then im probably out of the game too. Im bad at it despite my goals.
are you telling me this isnt the lewdest thing ever
1. Loser ultimately decides the content of the loser pics, but please do them and don't flake.
2. Lewdness is encouraged, but not required. The first tournament had several fights that were basically Naruto/DBZ fights except the girls had swimsuits on. It's totally valid to just draw a brawl.
3. No killing, no maiming, nothing too humiliating unless you've okayed it with your opponent first.
4. For all entrants, please include how you wish your character to be drawn if you want them to not be in their default look, such as in a swimsuit or MMA outfit. Lewdness is encouraged, but not required.
if you're going to pixelate, don't cut off the pixelation around the outline, that looks ridiculous nowadays you only have to censor a bar across the end of the glans anyway read the ToS on each individual site, they're all different. Newer ones care about fictional ages, older ones obviously don't.
Estella is a former slave who was abused terribly for most of her life. Maestro freed her and tutored her in a very unusual pseudo-school of magic, hoping to guide her to a place where she could turn her suffering into wondrous new creations. However, Estella is irretrievably broken, and she chooses to use her newfound potential to punish everything and everyone other than Maestro.
She doesn’t talk, she never takes off her mask, and she is filled with an unquenchable hatred born of almost two decades of abuse. It is the only way for her to avoid the reality of what happened to her, which, if she confronted it, would be too much for her to bear. It’s like a twisted game of tag.
Estella has a splitting axe, but she primarily makes use of enigmatic necromancy involving horns and thorns. I’m still figuring out exactly how it works, but for the time being, think of it as thematically limited necromantic Druid magic. Bones and deadwood.
As a Cuernobite (sort of like a satyr) she is stronger than the average woman and relatively tall. Her martial abilities are nothing special. She is simply ferocious and desperate with her axe. Her magic is comparatively limited. Short range, relies on touch, requires organic matter, and is largely about inflicting pain. She does not have that much imagination.
tl;dr Just treat her like a masked, mute, female Slasher movie killer with a splitting axe and thorn/horn conjuring abilities.
My only issue with Tamamo is that 1. Cant use her actual moveset because its spoilery I guess. 2. She has zero close quarters skill, she can just spam magic shit and teleport. For the rest of the fight she would be just standing there. Azu has her own brand of martial arts instead.
But she is prettier and I kinda wanna draw her too.
Aaron Sanders
elitist* she's far from the elitest elitist.
Jeremiah Cruz
Could always give her some basic jujitsu skills. Coupled with teleportation to get her out of holds she'd be effective even if she isn't a martial arts mater.
Jack Lewis
Is she made out of wires? That's cool!
Colton Lewis
What about that tall oni girl?
Anthony Wilson
>Thorn conjuring Heh. And you said there's nothing lewd about her...
Sorry for the delay. I just got back home. Here is her character sheet. Its older so it has her working name, and her fuzzy collar is absent. I hope this helps.
I really look forward to this, i have been brainstorming over the top wrestling moves.
Nah, she is a witch with a huge demon protecting her, knowing any martial arts would be out of character. Guess I can make some stuff with the teleporting. Ill think about it. Might just go with Azu. There is time.
Angel Foster
Oh and I have no problem seeing Cole get lewded. spoiler alert she is kind of a bitch.
Luke Phillips
Dee, full name (Dee-Jinny) >she always needs to have a gold choker on (it's like Aladdin's imprisonment cuffs on Genie)
>character A valley girl from ancient Egypt that got tricked into becoming a Genie, forcing her sister to become one as well. She was once a cook, and uses her imagination to create any inanimate object from clouds. She can also turn people into animals with cloud magic. She bought a pet snake from a pet store, and the Ring's magic changed him into a Cloud Cobra. His powers range from basic espionage to party tricks. >powers/abilities While her martial arts abilities are almost non-existent, she can focus on her limitless magic and large imagination. In drastic situations, the Ring's magic allows her powers to increase dramatically. short/long range, relies on clouds and she must see the other object/person
Haven't really thought about fighting skills before. Made a quick rough sheet, idk
tl;dr Valley Girl genie with cloud magic (and snake)
Can you draw her in an MMA version of her outfit with jacket? I think it would be hot.
Noah Scott
How much of a bitch?
Joseph Wood
She definitely seems like the type to have some kind of high flying piledriver move. What would her submission hold be?
>Princess Nice! What's her fighting style like?
Tyler Sullivan
she is a hero just so she can con people. also she uses it as an excuse to harass and rob villains. she has never actually stopped a villain in an evil act, rather she attacks them when they are not working and steals their shit. then acts like a big hero.
Jose Morris
>(Dee-Jinny)
Oh you pun bastard.
Noah Nguyen
So essentially, she's a thief that targets villains?
Carter Lee
[Spoiler]There is a large community of Rehabilitated and retired villains. Also its just dickish to smash somebodies house with a giant robot while they are eating breakfast just to steal their wallet. Its not like she takes anything important or valuable. She just likes to bully bad guys and knows she can get away with it.
Bentley Williams
I would like to say that she fought like Bruce Li, but I actually didn't have a chance to draw her fight when I look at the actual drawing relating to her, so I would describe it as savagery, really fast and very heavy punches, stand up fights and rarely grapples.
On one hand, shame that the cute sentai girl is a villain. On the other hand, there's justification for her being humiliated if she loses.
Wyatt Diaz
Would you be fine with making her match a kiss my foot match?
Liam Powell
Very true. I have already made plans for her fight scenes, and her style is theatrical, cruel, and unfair. I feel like she may cheat during the cat fight. As for her punishments, i have some fitting things in mind. My original script only had her and her team as a bit part, but she has proven popular already. She may have some more appearances in the future. Especially since i like to streamline my cast and reuse characters whenever i can.
Landon Sullivan
Im sorry but I think Ill go with Azu. I have trouble using Tamamo here because of her moveset.
I am fine with whatever. If we are talking in character here, this is just another hustle for Cole, and if she fucks up spectacularly, then she isnt above tasting boot to get out of it.
Lucas Morris
Oh a few i have in mind. Pile driver from the bomb bay doors Forcibly strap someone to the ejection seat and launching them with a kiss goodbye Samoan Drop form 40,000 feet. If up against someone with some real super powers, maybe summoning Turbulancer for some assistance.
Adam Foster
>Some fitting things in mind Elaborate please...
Second one is my favorite.
Isaiah Myers
how do we decide who wins and loses
Jacob Scott
Thread votes. You draw your character winning, either in a single image or a comic, it's up to you, and so does your opponent. Then the thread votes. Winner moves to the next wrong, loser draws their character tapping out/being humiliated/begging for mercy/etc.
Alright here is Azu. She is Rau´s rather unrepentant sister.
>Skills Super strenght, claws and fangs, slow regeneration, home-made martial arts, can jump REALLY high.
>Clothes Draw her like this or with a sports wear (shorts and shirt) or fundoshi too, I dont mind. I dont mind lewdness either. I might try to go lewd myself here. Doubt it but might try.
If I decide to use Tamamo instead ill let you all know, but for now its Azu.
The oni curse works by "how much damage would this cause to people" since its purpose was to ruin the kingdom, so, for example, old people are the least appetizing and young healthy or children are the most. But personal lust can also be a huge factor.
Josiah Murphy
Why is Character Design so hard?
Brody Gutierrez
Favored submission hold? What would she do to someone she defeats?
Have any punishment in mind if she loses?
Landon Jackson
What is a more interesting way of having knights exist in the 21st century?
A. All knights wear Iron Man suits designed like retrofuturistic medieval armor B. All knights drive paramilitary sports police cars, like Batmobiles but silver colored with police lights
Austin Martin
I see London, I see France. I dont see her underpants.
Adam Wright
it's not, it's the easiest and most fun part.
Thomas Jones
the first one. things that aren't realistic are more interesting. well duh, she's a girl.
Josiah Cruz
Is her real name still Cole? Blackbird's just the hero name?
Asher Ortiz
Dunno, never thought about it since she is not the "takes prisoners" type. Bearhugs or leg stuff probably.
I cant think of a punishment because dear Azu never loses amirite. Or better said because she is really prideful.
A. sounds way more fun.
The good ol underwear paradox. She IS supposed to be sliiightly manly.
Joshua Thomas
>Really prideful ...Groveling?
Eli Turner
I think B is more interesting. I feel like knights driving sports cars like that is a bit more fresh and creative, but that's just me.
Jace Smith
i nixed the blackbird name altogether. she is just Cole now. like i said, that character page is a bit out of date. unlike the saurus squad, the sky high sentai does not use hero names. still punny though. the team members are named after colors. (Cole= coal, Silvia= Silver, Rusty= Rust, Perry= Periwinkle, and the absent Turk= Turquoise)
I'm going to ignore perspective stuff because obviously you're just starting out, and just judge this like it was any regular old comic I'm not really pulled in yet by establishing shots of a school. There's nothing to say yet, presumably more happens on page 2. That's not uncommon for comics, but if there's no hook, no characters, no nothing, I'm not going to be interested enough to go to page 2. the middle panel does you absolutely nothing. I say cut that out, and consider adding something a little more interesting. at least the characters going to school or whatever it is that's going on page 2.
Sebastian Adams
The biggest hurdle Im trying to overcome is overall speed and consistency. I spend too much time on one drawing/chatacter and that's not going to cut if I want to get the ball rolling.
I know what you mean. I've been doing some drawings of my characters at a much higher level of detail than usual, and I find that doing that and immediately going back to my normal level makes the drawings come out faster/more naturally
Brody Jackson
the real trick is knowing when to change from one to the other, to economically get the best look for the comic
Logan Perez
I'm back in the saddle with a new page.
It's actually illegal to not strike a pose together if you are on a sentai team.
man I'm feelin that. potatoes* and that line made me laugh
looks like you've redesigned the uniform slightly... let's say I was drawing fanart of Cole and it was already 90% done, could you maybe get an on-model reference image so I'm not making myself look like an idiot leaving out the fur collar and getting the jacket's emblems wrong and shit?
Colton Edwards
oh wait I'll just check the site and read the previous pages of this chapter again, duh. okay I have seen her from enough angles now to get this right
Colton James
I'm excited, I look forward to it. The only real changes i've made to her are the collar, the emblems, and the boots. I'm notorious for changing subtle things about characters on a whim. If i can't follow a model sheet, I cant demand it of you.
Cooper Watson
bam keep up the awesome puns. if I'm ever less inundated by commissions and game-art work, I'll almost assuredly draw one of your mechs.
Is it possible to make any money with webcomics? I worked on some comics and got a bit of an audience so i know people will read it, but i'm still scared it'll take all my freelancing time and i'll end without money to buy food lol
Carson Harris
that looks awesome my man! i love it. fucking saved!
We are in Magi’s wheelhouse. I will be surprised if he doesn’t clinch it.
Estella is out of her element, so I don’t expect her to make it too far—depending on what the voters prioritize.
I don’t have answers for the last two questions, I don’t know.
Aiden Perry
Why would Estella lose?
Lincoln Evans
>Most likely to win Magi too OP, pls nerf. >Least likely to win Dunno. I was surprised Rau even won one last time. >Is the sexiest dom Me. >Is the sexist sub Me.
its weird because I could swear I was reading your comic months ago, yet it looks as if its recent
Chase Wood
Last two updates for Tom N Artie #2 this week. We'll be going on hiatus for a month to work on #3, we've already started. So if you haven't this would be a good time to hop in on the series and catch up.
So I have a character development question right now that really has me stuck at a roadblock as I'm writing my outline right now. Basically: >one of the protags is transformed into a half demon with a good handful of powers against his will. with him being mostly unaware of these powers >includes firing an energy beam from the mouth, erupting into a small explosion pf energy (ala Vegeta's Sacrifice), absorbing energy from his surroundings, and instances where his demonic body adapts to a hazardous enviornment so he can use it to his advantage >there's a one or two year time skip after the prologue before the main story begins How in tune with his powers should he be if he ran off into the wilderness to hide? Should he be rejecting this form the whole time and not being aware of any of it yet, or having a minor knowledge of what he can do? It's a major roadblock in my writing
Nah no repeats. Hmmm... Rakshasa's whole deal is being assisted by her evil circus performers and trained animals, that doesn't work so well. Pixelface isn't that great. Chasi's a bit OP since she can just go insubstantial and escape from any grapple, gotta have magic to take that one out. Uzi's just gonna straight up murder everyone... One of the XXnauts or one of Uzi's gang would probably be better. But they're such minor characters.... I guess that doesn't matter really, but it makes it less fun.
all the heroes left are either too swordy or too beam-spammy to be suitable for this kinda contest... although... there is one from the old generation who's still around. What's more catfighty and grapply than a naga? I mean she can turn human but then it's not blueboard safe.
I guess these would be the best candidates.. not sure I'm feeling it though.
You have another comic? how'd I not know that? also how you jugglan so many?
Logan Jenkins
I mean you obviously came up with this character with a goal of being really cool, just run with that. Whatever's cool If he's unaware of them, how would he ever learn? just get mad at random shit, and the attack comes out? If he's been in the wilderness for a few years, what does that accomplish for the story? Sounds like it puts everything on hold and halts development also Ransomgram Monster a cute
Hudson Garcia
Depends on his character, you gave us nothing to work with.
Carson Smith
im not sure I get it, but I think he should be slightly aware. That said it depends on how much of a surprise for him do you want the powers to be, which is related to the ammount of danger you want him to experience in the future.
Hudson Hill
All I'm willing to do for now. Based on a character from Squires for Hire
That said, no. *some* people make money through webcomics but not enough and you'll earn more as an actual artist.
Lucas Brown
How do I get ideas for a webcomic? Do I just make shit up and hope for the best?
Julian Harris
How about Shami?
Colton Young
have you thought of picking 2 or 3 thigns you liek and try combining them together?
Aiden Wilson
ill post a model sheet when i get off work.
Jaxson Gutierrez
Cute. I want to pull on the locks of hair next to her ears. Any more of her?
Juan Diaz
Sorry I took a minute, was in my college classes at the time of the post The most basic of a summary I can make is that he was "adopted" from an orphanage that was basically a child slave labor camp, and the reason he was chosen for the ritual was because the children there are fed a magic serum that enhances the strength and endurance of the children exponentially as they grow up to make them the best possible work mules Honestly I want him to be afraid of his new self to the point where he doesn't want to use it period, and I should have specified that it's not just "the wilderness" it's basically the entirety of the kingdom elf-like race of people, and since their king got possessed by the main antag he's been trying to hunt him down for the past year. The most I'm thinking is that the half demon boy has no idea about the energy stuff yet, only that he's super strong, fast, and super scary, allowing him to mostly live off passing merchants and catch his meals, he would learn the energy stuff later. See I wanted to kind of handicap him in the sense that he can absorb the energy of his surroundings in order to get a quick boost of power or accelerate his regeneration, but the drawback is he needs to have his lungs intact to "inhale" the energy, and he needs to not be so close to a teammate that it sucks the life out of them and kills them.
Eli Reyes
You don't understand. What is his character? Think how he will react to this situation and what he will do next. Maybe he wants revenge and he is training hard, maybe he just want to use his abilities to survive.
John Cook
This is all still just setting stuff. There's no writing advice we can give yet.
Much better, now something's happening. now the first panel makes more sense and matters more, because now I know the red car is important Congratulations, you're officially better at scene construction than I am. Now time to work on art.
Jayden Brooks
The others don’t have that either dude
Matthew Lewis
That’s just the premise, not a story.
Jackson Allen
>Implying Helga and Fishergirl aren’t built for sex.
pick someone evil so we can have 4 villains and 4 heroes
Nicholas Ortiz
I still think Moria the goblin is more interesting. I'd love to see how different people drew muh goblins with their horns and their claw-ass digits and their little thumb-havin'-ass feet... Ehh let's sit on it, I have to go make food. maybe I'll think of a better villain to use.
Cameron White
oh fuck how could I forget Arachne? Arachne's way better. Earthfield drew her once and she looked great okay let me go make food and I'll come back with like, reference material.
Decided to post WIP before i go to bed. Still thinking about head and arms design, probably will go with tv head and maybe some antennas that looks like ears. The idea behind this character that she is mishmash of other failed projects created on tight budget, hence why lower part of her body clashes with upper design wise.
I mean, it's discouraged to just take someone else's idea and just mix them together with something else. I just don't see how someone would be okay with doing that. It just seems amoral to take credit for someone else's work.
Evan Reed
Can't think of a way to say this without sounding like a tool so whatever- it does look bad, but it's not the perspective so much as the cinematography. There are tons of badly drawn comics that look fine because of where the viewpoint is placed. Like, shit, my example comic was going to be an Assigned Male edit before I saw the last few of this one.
The biggest and most immediately solvable problems are the odd roundness of the background and something about the first panel make it look either amateurish or boring. I don't believe anyone would give up on the comic on the first page (if there's more), but that's my opinion on what should be changed going forward.
Alright I guess I'm feeling more interested if Arachne's involved. She's special. She can throw fireballs. She can fire out urticating hairs. She can probably tickle you with those extra spider legs even if her arms are busy, I dunno, not gonna write it for you. oh and she can totally bite you. That might come up. I don't know WHY jyourougumo have fire powers, they just do. A lot of shit in Japan does. I have theories.
God damn spiders with their fireballs. Kill them all.
Ryan Wright
(This post doesn't actually function as a response to the post you are responding to) Yeah, that's why I immediately switched to calling it the viewpoint. Pretend it's slang. You understand figurative speech, somewhere deep down
Last spot is yours, just tell us about your character and what they can do.
Aiden Stewart
How can you can tell that any of these are good guys?
Carter Kelly
Because of what their creators have posted about them?
Good--Fishergirl, Helga, Dee
Bad--Cole, Estella, Azu
???-Arachne
David Hall
Yeah she's a villain. At the very end of the comic she quits, but that doesn't make her good. just unemployed. and recidivism is likely.
Tyler Lopez
>She can fire out urticating hairs. For a second, I thought you said "urinating" and got all interested.
Tyler Kelly
>Good--Fishergirl, Helga, Dee >Bad--Cole, Estella, Azu, Arachne
Logan Edwards
NeNe did have that one special move in the old comic.. for some reason I used to think it was 'urtricating' like it has 'tricho' in it for 'hair' sometimes having a big meaty throbbing vocabulary backfires when it doesn't fit inside anyone's mouth, and nobody corrects you on things.
Jeremiah Peterson
Alright. Anyone got a good girl to add?
Ethan Reed
lets wait for that one masked girl hottie author to reply
>in the middle of doing a model sheet for Turbulancer and updating Cole to her comic look for the cat fight. >goddamn power goes out. this tornado better kill me.
Jason Martinez
gasolina the gas mask gal is a good girl. i think you should hold a spot for her.
How about making it a team match? Team with the most wins wins. If its 2-2 it goes to a sudden death with most voted good girl against most voted bad girl.
Jace Powell
Sounds fun. Though I had some ideas for the fights against the other "evil" girls too. But eh.
Noah Murphy
i might do a team bad girls pic. that might be fun practice >Cole is a card carrying hero who uses it to operate as career con artist and theif >lumped in with literal demons.
i feel like she would be offended, but this what she gets for choosing the thug life.
Dominic Richardson
Think of it as a form of scared straight for Catwoman-esque characters.
I read it's a good idea to place the anchor post to updates, so...
>What are your inspirations?
Fromsoftware's art direction (particularly Bloodborne), woodcut prints (from medieval to 19th century), and manga. Tsutomu Nihei has been a recent inspiration after reading Blame. What a fantastic and engaging manga series. Currently reading his Biomega series. Also, Sergio Toppi. His use of hatching and unique panel composition are awe-inspiring.
So that would mean we only each have to do one round? That would help with the usual dropouts over time as people get tired and busy.
Aaron Nelson
scared straight is a thing where young people on the fence are put in close proximity to prisoners with the hope that, rather than glorifying that lifestyle, they'll see its ugliness up close and try to avoid it (completely misunderstanding the nature of how people become criminals) catwoman is a character famous for not really being that bad, always sort of being on the fence between good and bad, could easily tip either way
Woops late again. yea other people are right, Gasolina is a good girl. she's fit, but she doesn't have any magic powers or stuff like that. She could probably suplex someone tho
Pearl "Percy" Adams is a member of the Fishermen, a tradition of superheroes that dates back to the 1920's where New England fishermen donned the identity of the Fisherman to protect their coastal towns from smugglers and gangsters.
The Fishermen have evolved throughout the decades. In the 30's, they were explorers of sunken Thule ruins saving artifacts from unscrupulous raiders. In the 40's, they were frogmen in the service of the US Navy who raided an experimental Axis U-boat designed to teleport between this world and the neighboring aquatic reality of Thule in order to launch surprise attacks. This U-boat brought the Fishermen in contact with Thule, and intermarriage between Thule women and human men created a generation of hybrids.
Percy is one of these hybrids, and while hybrids have commonly joined the Fishermen, she is the first female to do so--the first girl Fisherman, Fishergirl.
Percy works to uphold the traditions of her family as a crimefighter, though her greatest challenges aren't supervillains. The media tries to frame her career to suit their narrative. Many see Percy as opposing a patriarchal tradition, but that couldn't be further from the truth. She's fiercely proud of her forefathers and doesn't consider herself an iconoclast. She's just doing what she thinks she's best at, and that's crime fighting. She also struggles with her mother, a traditional Thule healer disappointed that her daughter is using her powers to fight instead of heal.
Her mother works as psychiatrist for psychologically disturbed superhumans and uses her telekinetic powers to alter brain chemistry and Percy is often the parole officer to her other's patients. This strains their relationship considerably as Percy is the one that has to beat up and capture her mother's patients should things go wrong. Percy also fears that her mother shows more affections to her patients than she does to her own daughter.
good thing that webbing is only between the fingers and not the thumb, or he couldn't wear that ring!
Brandon Campbell
>Powers
Thule evolved from Vril-Ya exiled from their subterranean home and forced to live in a part of the Atlantic ocean out of phase with general reality. Millenia of evolutionary forces adapted the Thule for life underwater. The earliest Thule struggled to survive. They had to constantly create and manage telekinetic bubbles just to survive. Modern Thule have telekinetic "force organs" they call eyes, essentially telekinetic bubbles that are always "on" even when Thule are asleep. These eyes can at will become harder than steel, but normally they are selectively permeable barriers that filter surrounding water and manage pressure. Thule can dart from the bottom of the ocean into the sky without any ill effects.
>Otto what the fu--
She's got a passive energy field that alerts her to danger and can become a forcefield at will. It also lets her be telekinetic and smack people around.
>Skills
Due to the perilousness of their existence (Thule waters crawl with powerful, predatory leviathans. The Vril-Ya considered the exile a punishment for a reason) Thule society is very traditional even into the modern age. Girls breed. Boys fight. Percy is one of the very few Thule woman to know the Thule martial art of "blinking" which turns the eye into a powerful weapon by rapidly reshaping it. Blinking also includes hand-to-hand grappling skills for when one finds themself inside an opponent's eye. >Personality
A consummate tomboy. She enjoys a good brawl and friendly competition. She's highly active and runs herself ragged working as a parole officer, Fisherman patroller on Earth and Thule, and a member of the superhero team the Coast Guardians. She's also thinking of working as a prison guard for the Thule super-prison known as the Sandcastle, though her older brother that works there blocks her every attempt. He doesn't want his little sister to be exposed to that kind of environment.
yeah I specifically didn't connect the webbing from the thumb so he could wear the ring. convenient coincidence, right?
Carter Green
sounds OP
Carson Myers
This is how i will be known from now on. Thanks.
Wyatt Harris
>Personality continued
Percy is fiercely proud of her family and the Fishermen. Anyone that disses them is instantly on her shitlist, especially her mom who she idolizes despite their disagreements and arguments. Never tell her that Thule women aren't strong because they don't fight.
>Weaknesses
Eyes are waveforms, and as such work better through denser substances. Ground>Water>Air. If you want to beat a Thule, fight them in the air or in a vacuum. Amusingly, a Thule is harder to fight on land than in the water as on land they have contact with the ground.
Thule doesn't dehydrate fast like Aquaman or Namor, but they do need salt. Lotssss of salt. While on land it's not uncommon to find Thule swallowing fistfulls of salt. The average Thule salt intake is toxic to humans.
Due to their eyes being sense organs, their physical eyes have been subjected to millenia of genetic drift. Thule eyes are large, pretty, and not as good as human eyes. Percy can't see as far as the average human.
She IS a superheroine after all. But Percy isn't going to Tetsuo her opponent unless they can handle that kind of power. For most opponents, she's not going to use her eye and will fight them fairly as more-or-less a jujitsu fish.
When's your surrender pic for the last tournament?
Lucas Jackson
cutie
Jaxon Lee
but tournament-user, you said it was finished. you INSISTED it finished.
Evan Jones
Come on bro. Why are you even on this board if you don't get something that entry level?
I'd like a team battle. Percy does like teams. She'd find Gasolina cool as Percy's from a race of survivors. She'd find Dee annoying and sympathize with Helga's family problems.
I'm not tournament user. It did finish though. Magi won and even made a group picture. That gynoid guy decided to be bitch-made and flake doesn't mean it didn't finish.
Connor Lewis
I made a new model sheet for the tournament, including Turbulancer.
>Bio Leader of the Sky High Sentai, Cole is an accomplished pilot of not just aircraft but giant robots as well. She has an accomplished history of heroism and has defeated many vile foes. However that is not entirely the truth. Truth is she is an extremely petty thief, con artist, and thug who uses her prestigious position to exploit her victims. She often attacks retired and rehabilitated villains in order to rob them as they are deemed 'Acceptable Targets'. She then masks her crimes as "saving the day" and reaps even more rewards. Villains arent her only targets, as she will screw over anyone she thinks she can get away with. Her attitude is superior, thrill seeking, and theatrical. She makes a big deal of entrances and being showy, to her detriment. She is also extremely petty. She is willing to destroy everything you care about just to take your wallet and mock you. She does it for the thrill of a hustle, not the profit. >Fighting style As a military trained Sentai, she is skilled in CQC. She is fast and acrobatic. She also knows how to street fight and is not above fighting dirty. She really enjoys theatrics which may be her biggest weakness. She also has access to her SR 71 Blackbird, one of the fastest planes ever created. It can combine with her teammates to form, Turbulancer. Turbulancer has sustained flight capabilities. It can move at super sonic speeds, create sonic booms, and generate powerful winds with its lance. It also has access to a Gau-8 Avenger Rotary Cannon on its arm for conventional warfare. Cole's theatrical flair carries over to the giant mecha, so it too will strike poses and do acrobatic attacks. It makes the Justisaurus look like shit.
9551457 (OP) >What are your inspirations? Quite a lot, honestly.... I'm inspired by anything from cartoons, video games, locations, real life experiences, to small things like the feel of a cool breeze to the way light reflects on water and how pebbles sound underneath a footstep....
There's also a quote from a movie director that resonated a lot with me in particular. I don't recall it exactly, but it greatly inspired me to continue working on my projects.
We're going to make it team themed for round 1. Goods against bads. We're see what happens for round 2, but as for now it's team good girls against team bad girls.
I'll go randomize the match-ups.
Randomizing fights shortly...
Cry cry cry
Julian Rivera
I'm on a road trip until the week after next, so I don't have anything new. I'll simply report this week's six supplementary hiatus updates for The Concord Initiative.
9565134 Im really excited for Space Pack! How much do you plan to get ready before publishing? All of it?
9564807 9564785 9564762 You have a great approach to Q and A, I would have just added a box with the answer.
9557176 Do you have an entire plot planned or are just winging it since its comedy?
And this is my latest one. Done during a time of grief and pain. But I tried to experiment with the shading. It sucks on the upper panels but on the lower ones I kinda dig it.
When i first started with this team I wanted to do a complete 180 on the first sentai team, the Saurus Squad. They were really lame, weak, and total assholes to each other and everyone around them. However they were still good guys, and dedicated heroes. So with this this team, I decided to make a genuinely cool looking team with (what i consider) really badass Mecha. I wanted them to be hyper competent, professional, and outwardly friendly. Then reveal that Tad had been hustled then entire time, and that he was getting played from the get go.
I'm really glad Cole has proved popular. She was originally just going to be a one chapter antagonist, but now she is definitely going to be recurring.
Oh great. Nice job, anchorman. Now people are flooding that one post with reposts of their latest pages. Fat lot of good that's gonna do when the thread dies in the middle of the night.
Nathaniel Bennett
Last two updates for Tom N Artie #2 this week. We'll be going on hiatus for a month to work on #3, we've already started. So if you haven't this would be a good time to hop in on the series and catch up.
Percy's got a lot of lore to her. Trying to explain her briefly is like trying to explain Supergirl briefly when no one knows what Superman and Kypton are.
If you got any questions about Percy, Thule, or the Fishermen just ask.
His use of hatching and unique panel composition are awe-inspiring.
>trying to explain Supergirl briefly when no one knows what Superman and Kypton are. for the purposes of a quick cheesecake contest, I could >she's ridiculously strong and fast, can fly, has heat beam eyes, x-ray vision, SOMEHOW multiplies air so that her exhalations can be gale force winds without having to stop to refill her human-sized lungs, and basically can't be hurt except for an esoteric material which you're unlikely to have access to. No specific resistance to magic, though. >She came from a more advanced civilization, so modern-day-earth seems kind of boring, but she's a nice regular girl-next-door despite that Didn't even get the '1000 characters left' warning.
Aaron Walker
Kudos to whoever fixed my mistake. I'm a dope, lol.
Nicholas Barnes
You know, when I said webcomics should have reruns, this isn't what I had in mind.
Jackson Cook
How about this then?
>Tomboy superheroine, half-human and half-aquatic humanoid. Has a passive telekinetic field that can protect her and move things. Knows martial arts. Likes competition and is fiercely proud of her family's superhero legacy.
Sebastian Campbell
works for me! I feel like most people who haven't read Boschen and Nesuko might have trouble with the idea of a passive telekinetic field without explaining that one in slightly more detail. That's an area where it's advisable to elaborate slightly. But thankfully we have your previous post
now how many of these posts are still going to be up when we find out our matchups and get started, god knows
Eli Morales
>Eyes
It's the result of millenia of evolution. The Vril-Ya outcasts that started the Thule were exiled as punishment. They didn't breath water, but they were telekinetic. They had to constantly maintain large, communal telekinesis bubbles just to survive.
Overtime, evolution improved things. They evolved water breathing so they could move around freely with permeable telekinetic bubbles that didn't use nearly as much energy.
Evolution selected for telekinetics that always had a field up over those that had to consciously shape one into existence. No longer having to be shielded from water, the field was able to be used for other uses--communicating with Thule across distances, alerting of danger, trapping fish for food, etc. The eyes evolved basic reflexes--a shield response to a fast moving object for instance-- because those with them had a better chance of surviving than those that did not.
Caleb Bailey
>tfw classic wow is out and don't feel like working on my dogshit comic anymore Anyone else?
That's more of a backstory. the way it works in the present is more pertinent, don't you think? it's also kind of dumb because anything that kills enough organisms to change the relative frequency of alleles in a population has a habit of wiping that population out, but that's another thing entirely
Colton Rivera
No, I feel incredibly guilty playing WoW now. I simply can't invest in that game anymore, I won't have time for my comic. WoW is addictive but not as much as making my own comic.
Liam Cooper
>It's also kind of dumb They had a longgggg time to evolve. They were exiled from the Vril-Ya before humans and chimps diverged from the common ancestor. They went from being like those spiders that make little air pockets underwater to being independently mobile. Their little telekinetic life-hutches became nets to trap prey and ways to avoid leviathans.
I think it's a little more creative than Marvel Atlanteans being able to fly because of ankle wings.
>The way it works in the present
At rest, an eye is a sensory device sensitive to sound and pressure, sort of like an invisible spider-web. With concentration, Thule and Thule hybrids can exert pressure through their eyes that can reach 15,000 PSI.
Size and strength of each eye are subject to individual variation. Females tend to have larger and more sensitive eyes while males tend to have shorter and stronger eyes. This is because males have historically been hunters and leviathan fighters while females have had to protect and nurture Thule children with developing eyes (Thule children go through 2 births. After being born, they are bundled in the eye of their mother which protects them like an egg until their own eye develops)
Percy's eye is above average in all metrics, but in its strength-to-size ratio its very feminine--something her mother constantly reminds her of.
>But Otto what the fu--
It's spider-sense that can make a person that triggers it feel like they're at the bottom of the ocean.
Oh it gets worse. >classic is out >my stomach hurts for a week >head hurts for 3 days >i don't know when i will see the doctor I, user, have a dream. And i will continue drawing.
Do you mind if we alter Cole's design a little? The working idea is that they're in a martial arts tournament for superheroines, Cole cheats, things escalate, and turbulancer gets summoned to fight Percy in the air where her eye isn't as effective.
sounds cool to me. do what you gotta do. im going to brainstorm today and see if i have a working fight idea by this afternoon.
Hunter Wilson
Really dig the thought you are putting into this.
Liam Hernandez
are her arms, dress, and hair made up of thorny vines? or shadow energy?
Joseph Myers
Right, that. Can I get a ref for that oni lady again?
Landon Lee
I think the mosaic is best, you already use alot of flat black in the comic so it reads weird. also the first panel is weird, like his dick is melting.
I think webtoons policy is "tasteful non sexual nudity". so I don't know if that crosses the line
Hunter Nguyen
From what I can tell, she is way above Estellas power level—so technically speaking, Estella is going to have a hell of a time holding her own. Actually it makes Estella vs Gasolina a great matchup.
She’s lovely. Estella has limited magical ability, no disciplined combat training, strictly above average female strength, and not a lot of imagination, so Gasolina should have a very good chance of getting that suplex in.
This was very kind of you to post, thank you!
As something comparable to a satyr, Estella has fur. It’s unhealthy and scraggly, but it’s not as long as it seems there. She has long black hair and twisted, unkempt, overgrown antlers. That said, she is pockmarked by spines and little horns, sort of like a rose bush without the roses. She can sprout foot long bone like protrusions and spectral thorny tendrils from her body up to 15ft or so.
Christopher Garcia
And her dress is just a simple barmaid dress, ratty, ragged, and stained.
Owen Campbell
>As something comparable to a satyr, Estella has fur. she have goatlegs?
