The cult and the super natural angle was easily the weakest part of the games. The high points come from the down to earth, hanging out with friends and town people, parts.

I really liked the game despite not really being inline with the politics of the creators or even the characters in game at the time.

The character writing in the game is pretty good, but the characters i liked while playing may lose something if the viewer/player loses the little control they had over mae.
As you can tell by the game, the creators don't really have a knack for over arching stories.

I really don't like Mae as a character. I'm okay with that though, I don't mind main characters that aren't perfect people, I think they can be very interesting.

What I don't like is when these characters get a happy ending just for kind of... Existing? Like when Mae explains to Bea why she had to leave college Bea is like, oh, I'm so sorry I had no idea! All is forgiven!

Maybe this is just my bias, but I'm in a point in my life where a lot of shitty people just kept being shitty to me and I had to walk away. I had to come to terms with the fact that a lot of people I know are selfish people and have not and will not ever put anybody, including me, above themselves. That's kind of why seeing Bea spend the whole game having Mae just do pretty shitty things to her and wave her total spoiling of an opportunity Bea would kill for to be just really mean. I don't think a heartfelt confession on a couch overrides this.

Also, I dunno, the game is about deferred dreams for a guy who has done cover illustrations for Time magazine and had an incredibly successful crowd funding campaign. I think you made it, pal...

The rationale of Men only suffrage was that a republic was made up of families who possessed a singular interest and the man, as the head, and the one who typically engaged with society at large, voted for the entire household. It was only when this economic model of the self-sufficient household proprietors was breaking down because of the proliferation of the factory system & wage work where people sold their labor as individuals that "women" as a group seemed to be meaningfully unrepresented.

In a nation made up of small independent households there's essentially no reason for women's suffrage because their interest was that of the entire household and not of themselves as a fully atomized "individual".
