She kept claiming connections to the company and RWBY in order to get attention for herself and they kept shutting her down and immediately making public statements that she was in way connected to RT beyond being a wife of an employee.

Once Monty died RT dropped any and all contact with her like a bad habit which pissed her and Monty's friend off because she kept trying to pretend she was involved with RWBY and she was supposed to VA a character in it who was based on her design and they changed the character completely as a result (and it's implied slightly altered that characters story) for fear that she'd try to sue them for likeness rights. She also said that Monty often talked about the story with her and wanted them to consult with her about certain things, which they again refused out of fear that she'd try to use that as a way to get money out of it.

Its a company founded on making Halo videos and doing voice overs literally over the phone and backed by Microsoft to appeal to dudebros.

Well, working and partying are two different things. RT has a lot of work between productions sponsors, and schedules. There is a lot of work that has to be done to keep up with the bullshit release schedule and having fun with man-monkies isn't going to do it.

I never thought I would find myself wanting to defend Rooster Teeth but this is such a bizarrely salty statement.

A good portion of the reason why the crunch stuff died out is because it wasn't just a case of some people being overworked and the talent not being overworked. Rooster Teeth's entire culture from top to bottom is overworking and constantly working. Even the "talent". It's why Ray left. Something they even discussed on the podcast. They are constantly in crunch and everything "goofy" they do is filmed and packaged into videos and they are constantly banking videos. Constantly. That is why Ray left. Not just the fact that they only played two games and had to do it weekly but because of how much they travel, they constantly had to enter recording crunches to compensate for how many weeks they were going to be missing people.

Going on location and going to fucking cons is not fun and games. Travel sucks. Yes it is not as fucking bad as manual labor, and yes it is not as bad as some other jobs, but in the realm it is being compared to it does fucking suck and considering what we are told about how much they travel, and how many weeks out of the year it sounds fucking horrible. Cons are fun to go to, but they're fun like a tour in Iraq. You remember the good parts and you have pictures of the good parts and the fact that you have eaten utter garbage for 24 hour and slept about 3 hours, are fighting off a flu, and might have picked up a new stalker fades as you look at the fun pictures.

If you're actually going to criticize Rooster Teeth, go after their leadership capabilities at a department level and their inability to restructure themselves from a small company relying on esprit of corps to continue going.

More than any other company it really seems like one that relies entirely on the loyalty of the people working there to make it work. Miles and Kerry sound like they are being genuinely overworked to an unhealthy degree. But they were fans and now they write RWBY so fuck it.

Also to repeat myself, because this is something I genuinely find annoying. Why do people think constantly traveling every weekend for con panels is fun? Again not as bad as most jobs, but it still fucking sucks to go through especially if you're going across time zones and international. And the stalker bit isn't a joke. The internet is hell. At 1000 followers you probably already have ten stalkers. At 5000 it jumps to fifty. When you start seeing the same face at every convention you go to, not even always going up to you, you will begin to have very nervous sleeping habits.

Really it's a reflection of pursuing media for a living in general, and a model at least partly dependent on platforms like Youtube in particular. You either press on, adapt and adopt work habits or techniques that you don't like/aren't cut out for, or you allow yourself to fade into obscurity and put yourself on the line searching for other work. In that sense, I pity the people who have only ever known work life at RoosterTeeth, because they're not going to be prepared for a typical work environment, at least not some of the "talent". People like Gavin and Michael had careers before they started doing stuff and can go back to them if things ever go south. I don't know about some others.

My Roosterteeth fanboy days extended for just the initial five seasons of RvB, but I went to PAX East for ten years and didn't miss a single panel because if how entertaining the original RT dudes were. My impression as Gus and Geoff and all the originals filtered out of that panel for literally who's (to me): Geoff (if that's the tattoo guy who does Griff) seemed less and less enthused about being there every year. He didn't seem to enjoy his newer coworkers antics and just seemed bitter and unhappy as time went on, compared to the camaraderie of PAX 2011 when it was like him and Church and Simmons and other panelists I recognized from the earliest days of RT. I don't think the new projects matter to him. He strikes me as an old guard kind of guy who just doesn't know what to do with himself if he were to leave RT, so he stays and just becomes more jaded as time goes on.

Also, the newer RT people were generally unfunny and insufferable. Were Monty's wife tried to take Rwby and sell it to someone else. She also remedied things that weren't true. Then people that worked for Monty tried to say how they helped crate Rwby as well. Soon all of them were fired and Monty's wife was forbidden from ever coming back. She tried to sue them but failed because she didn't own anything. She just kept telling lies and believing them. As for the people they fired they don't even work in the industry anymore. It shows that ether they have no talent or they burned all of those bridges. Unless they have just been not making waves.

Then there was the shit show with someone who was with them for years. The VA who 0layed Tex and Glynda. She was getting into fights with Bunrie for years and other rooster teeth employee's.
