Barney ranked up there with many of the contemporary Disney movies of its time in terms of sales, and was the highest-rated program on PBS during its prime, selling out arenas and got parents to literally destroy malls. They tried to rig a Gamespot competition for favorite video game hero so that the Bubble Bobble dragons come out on top. As you can see, they beat Master Chief and Sonic right out of the gate before falling slight. Much butthurt was had from people online, and Yea Forums had a good chuckle.
10 years ago Gamespot had a "Best Videogame Heroes of all time" poll very similar to shit you'd fine on Gamefaqs throughout the 2000's. Well Yea Forums got wind of it, noticed that the bracket sucked, so wanted to intervene on behalf primarily by choosing Bub and Bob to go against what was at the time the most normalfag candidate (Master Chief) that Yea Forums despised the most. The goal was to get Bub and Bob to win the contest, but unfortunately internal fighting occurred as some only wanted to only run with the joke until their personal favorite was at risk. In this case Samus.

I'll defend this user. The show itself isn't great, but some episodes are enjoyable. The movie, for example, is fun in a mindless sort of way. I think it's hated so much because it destroyed the original show and CN overplays it to insufferable memetic levels. I wouldn't call myself a fan, but it's really no worse than most cartoons on right now.
