At first I just saw Reggie as an annoying kid, but that episode really made me feel for her.

Quite introspective, she was about to break down during the memory showing to the endless inhabitants, but their acceptance cheered her up.

I think Reggie's hero costume was awesome. I made a 'bionic arm' out of a bunch of knee pads and a cool glove (you know how some gloves have like, fucking robot joint square-ass padding on them) and it looked pretty boss for being fabric. my parents didnt want me wearing it outside much though, worried i looked like a burn victim.

I said this in the other thread, and I'll only say this once more, because even I think it's really autistic yet I must get this off my chest. I like to think that the Dubai shown in Spec Ops: The Line is in actuality some part of Endless, or is some realm between that to here. It would explain all the weird parts of it, like how you always keep descending even when it doesn't make sense, seeing John's face everywhere, the sandstorm that's able to somehow block out signals, among other stuff. There's also the fact that Walker, the main character, is quite infantile since he desperately tries to become a action hero and refuses to admit he's wrong, in spite of all the troubles he causes, which seems like the type of person Endless, or what is something like it, would attract.

I also found it odd that he wasn't crazy like Esther and Todd got during spring break. Like one mention of his life and he remembered everything just fine. Seems more like being alone for 50 years turned him into an asshole is all.

I think Ester and Todd getting kooky then was a kind of a middle part to a transformation. The islanders may be wacky and usually pretty stupid, but most aren't so crazy.

Maybe Elmer is particularly resilient. Perhaps the more mature you are, the more you would get afflicted by Endless.

I think that the world of Endless is so big that , even if someone has been traveling around for decades, you're unlikely to run into another person who isn't from your same town.

I agree. Watched the whole thing. at best the show is bland and the humor is not my cup of tea at all. HOWEVER. I think its just not a show aimed at someone like me. its really written with the current social climate in mind. I loved buttwitch though. and its the first time I really want the badguy to win. Reggie is far too imature even for a 12yr old. if anything the way Endless works and its origin in the mini episode was far more interesting than what we actually got.

The show's hard to watch because I was reggie, maybe not as scab-picking gross, but definitely so fucking insane, aggressive and hyperactive that despite the fact I was a decently pretty and charming child appearance-wise, I had literally no self awareness or social skills to speak of.

And she's sulking on Endless, BW finds her alone, is ready to strike but when she goes to taunt her Reggie just kinda doesn't care? Like "I'm not in the mood to deal with you today". Butt Witch likes to play with her food a bit. I don't picture it like holding hands let's talk about our feelings. More like, taunting sympathy? If that makes sense. At least until she says something that accidentally lifts Reggie's mood. Then the battle would continue.

Not necessarily, Braceface did it years ago, And Netflix is a bit more free than major cable networks. I don't think it'd be a super intense showing of it, But I could see them at least saying it happened and have her deal with it a bit.

As for how it would go.. I kinda went with all but stoked in my short story. scared, annoyed, depressed, a little accepting.

It's a lot more likely it'd be esther needing to take a day off, then going to Endless and beating the shit out of things and Reggie is just terrified she's going to lose her mind and become like the other adults who regularly show doublethink and various signs of insanity

I think it'd be cool to see Kendra and Connelly as non-group friends. Like have them exist as their own groups that Reggie joins. E.g. the trio of Connelly, CJ, and Shaun. It'd be interesting to see Reggie have to switch up her dynamic a bit from group to group.

It's within possibility now that I think of it. If we're going to take what she says literally, at total face value, she died/disappeared/went into hibernation somehow before Reggie woke her up by hurling those puberty books into the volcano.

Hilda's just a cozy show about a girl who lives in the woods in a vaguely nordic/british world and interacts with all kinds of crazy fantasy shit, which her mom is refreshingly aware of even if she doesn't engage with it much
then they have to move to a more normal town, and you're like "here we go, nobody belives in the magical shit right?" but it turns out naw, this town has a fucking wall to keep out trolls. they're all aware of this stuff, they just largely don't want any part of it.
It ends up being much less a retread of 'nobody understands my fantasy world is real' and much more nature-vs-civilization. Hilda does shit her own-ass way and doesn't let anyone else tell her what's acceptable. Look at the babysitting episode- she dragged that poor kid to Endless because who wouldn't love it there? It took a bit for her to realize that hey, he likes that puppet show and connected to him that way.

Thanks for the honest criticism. If it makes any difference I am using some pretty shitty art tools - blunt ass pencil, old shopping list, shoe box. And this is the first time I've ever really attempted to draw something. But I do agree it's not great.

Truth be told, in a way I'm terrified of the stuff I put up on here. I've been pretty depressed and dead inside for a long long time so this sudden influx of creative desire is really fucking with me. It's just really weird to care about something. Not to mention the crippling judgement from strangers.

as far as drawing goes, there's the normal mainstream way to do it, which involves constructing things ahead of time out of shapes... it's less desirable on paper unless you're going to use another piece of paper laid on top of it later, but it honestly works great and I wish I'd started doing that earlier. It took me so many years of drawing without it to realize there's no substitute.

With practice and discipline you can improve user. I'm was a lazy bitch kinda still am. But i did made progress. If i finish my art by tonight ill upload it here. Good on you for making an attempt, some people just do nothing.

Draw stuff you suck at drawing. Right now, get the basics down. Keep drawing the basics until you're good at them.

Is your room a sloppy mess? You need a environment you can focus on well. When i come across obstacles that requieres all of my attention i can't stand having shit around me.
Also many people don't practice their refining their lines when they start. You need food eye coordination and control of your pencil. If you don't have any of that Its like running with untied shoes. You'll be making wobbly lines and rely on accidents to get you those smooth lines.

it's funny, that's a very Twelve Forever thing you just pointed out. People with clean rooms need them to be clean, but people who don't do it probably don't need that in order to focus

the lines thing is funny because a lot of people focus too hard on making the lines just right, and in the process lose the line-confidence that's necessary. that's more of a thing digitally though

I'm probably putting the advice bluntly. My day job involves doing code reviews and mentoring junior programmers and senior programmers who shouldn't be called senior, and bluntness tends to work best IMO. I'll try to simplify it so it's not daunting.

Do a drawing a day, maybe just more pictures of Reggie and the gang. You can copy stills from the show if you'd like. Don't trace.

After a while, you should be getting good at it. Maybe start drawing Reggie and the gang without copying from a still. Maybe try another cartoon. Maybe try drawing something in real life.

You just have to put in the work. If you want to draw, draw. If you want to write, write. If you want to cosplay, start making costumes. It takes about 10,000 hours to master something, and it's going to take effort to reach that point, but you have to start somewhere. You might pick up bad habits along the way, but you should always be willing to take advice and critique.

It just takes time and effort. Go start now.

To say my room is a mess is the understatement of the century. It's like a grenade went off. There's literally a hole in the wall and only 5sqft of walking space. I don't even have a bed. But like I said, I'm coming from years of ignored and denied depression. In a way I kinda thrive on this environment.

My lines definitely do need improving though. Though I worry if my hands will ever be steady enough for it.

Solid advice. I'll keep at it. I'll try to do a drawing sometime tomorrow. Maybe I'll try Judy next. Maybe another cover art for one of my stories. See how that goes. Balancing the writing and drawing will definitely be annoying for a bit though until I get into the swing of things.

I don't have anything like that going on. It's more like just I own too much stuff for my tiny room. I've got boxes of books that don't fit on my self, no room for another, clothing that doesn't fit in any dresser or closet, random trinkets I've collected over the years, that kinda junk. I could fix the hole, it's just a pain in the ass to move everything and actually do it. Like I just have never had the drive to deal with any of this.
