It's hard to make a game based around someone whom is effectively invincible

Got something with Mxy?

Skipped leg day.

Seems like all heavy hitters. I was kinda hoping for a few of the lighter fare, like Livewire, or Mxy.

I've done some digging and it seems like the guy who did this is called Thierry Doizon. His linkedin profile reveals that he was working at Square Enix Montreal from 2014-2016.

If I had to guess, whatever was left of this project before WB bailed got transformed into the Avengers Project. Given the lukewarm reception that currently has, maybe it was for the best that Superman was dropped.

That's just a plot idea not a video game picth

I disagree, so what does it need that you feel it doesn't have.

What you agree with isn't relevant. It's merely an idea, not an actual pitch made for a game.

>not an actual pitch made for a game
Okay then, train enthusiast. Let me be more specific since apparently I wasn't before.
>what does it need
*to be a videogame pitch
>that you feel it doesn't have
?

As an idea it's hollow, most people who buy games are casual gamers and the average person isn't going to buy a superman game when he actually isn't superman yet. And as said before, making a game based on a character whom for all intent and purpose, is invincible, is hard because game characters need limitations in order to be challenging and engaging

Ah, you didn't actually read that post at all, okay then, carry on baiting people into giving you (you)s
Godspeed

Thanks user. I don't like being the first to toss out that accusation, but I'm glad I wasn't the only one to think so.

Original guy here, nothing in that post talks about how mechanically the game will work i.e. level structure, fighting mechanics, what a player most do to progress and feel rewarded instead they tied it into rogues will sometimes show up, and of course GAMEPLAY. You can't just say "well it's like Arkham city but with Superman" and say you have all your bases covered. It's a two posts that go too long to say it's just prototype.

m.youtube.com/watch?v=lGar7KC6Wiw

Zod, Darkseid and Doomsday should be at least as strong as him

Yeah, user clearly knew fuck all about what he's responding to.

Although, for the record, while I like the idea a lot, it could use more detail on how the gameplay is structured if you want it to "be a real pitch". You do just vaguely compare it to Arkham, and other games in the genre, but if you're pitching a game, it's good to either include a unique mechanic or a unique twist on a common mechanic. And, most importantly, a reason why people would want to play/buy this game over others in the genre ("it has superman" I not really enough).
But then, the post is NOT pitching it to a real executive. It's just sketching a general idea for Yea Forums, and debunking the belief that a superman game is impossible.

Yes that is why the original image is from 2013, has no responses, and was taken by the very user who posted it, and in the six years since then nothing else has been elaborated. The original posts is nonsensical and can honestly be replaced with any other super hero and or fictional character.

>You can't just say "well it's like Arkham city but with Superman" and say you have all your bases covered.
Actually I fucking can because I played it, you played it and you know exactly what I'm talking about. I'm not saying I'm making the game. You're not a VC, so I'm not going to work my ass off to impress you to convince you to give me money you don't have. You said a game can't be made and those posts describe one that can be.
Take the open world metropolitan setting that Arkham, multiple Spidey games, Hulk Ultimate Destruction, DCU Online, or even non big 2 cape games like Infamous have done.
Want combat?
There is an attack button. There is a dodge button. There is block button. Want to use powers? If you've unlocked them they are on a wheel like Spidey's gadgets. Then there is a button to use them. You know how Spider-Man can charge a jump and jump high? Superman can too, and when you unlock it, that is how you fly. You know how you control Spider-Man when he jumps or webswings? That's how you control Superman, except it'll be more intuitive since you can fly.
>if you're pitching a game, it's good to either include a unique mechanic or a unique twist on a common mechanic.
Honestly, considering those posts were from 6 years ago, I can't remember if games included out of costume parts to the degree they do now. Actually taking down guys as Clark Kent might have been a twist to progress the story, and show why Clark Kent isn't as useless as people dismiss him as.
>Yes that is why the original image is from 2013, has no responses, and was taken by the very user who posted it
Right on. You want to know why?
You said a game can't be made and those posts describe one that can be. I posted it and screencapped it because I got tired of typing it out. It just became more convenient to repost it.

Yeah but those are boss fights. You can't spend the entire game as a boss rush, you need to spend time wailing on mooks like in Arkham or Spiderman. But you can't do that with Supes because to the average guy, he's indestructible.

Hell, the Injustice fighting game only made even the slightest bit of sense when they handwaved it as everyone getting superman pills.

>using all of the major enemies in the first game

That would've been a bad move. It makes the game feel crowded and leaves very little to look forward to in the sequel.

First off you're not very creative I can literally take your post and replace Superman with MegaMan, rogues with robot Masters and there's no difference in substance, and shows that you only post this for approval from people you'll never meet and lash out at the two of us who disagree with your shitty pitch, so yes you do need my approval if you've been reposting frequently enough to warrant the screenshot just to see who else would agree with you. And now you're just saying it's like the new Spiderman game but with Superman. You're a faggot and Superman games should be more than shitty Arkham ripoffs with an origin story as it's "twist".

>shows that you only post this for approval
How exactly is that shown?
>lash out at the two of us
Don't know about that.
The other user was pleasant and not a prick demanding I put together a portfolio for him like you are. I don't recall lashing out at him at all or even you as much as just pushing back as you drop your pants to show off your e-penis as though posting anonymously on a Indian cartoon image board give you any authority over me or any of us, so you probably shouldn't conscript him in your martyrdom.
>so yes you do need my approval if you've been reposting frequently enough to warrant the screenshot
Okay this is me totally taking you seriously. I swear. I'm absolutely going to check with you every time I post it in the future, and I'm not going to post again until Daddy user says it's good enough for his approval. Seriously? Why do you look so upset like I'm laughing my ass off at how pathetic an assertion what you just said is? I totally believe and respect you!
>And now you're just saying
Actually I said...6 years ago, but who is keeping count, big time.
>an origin story as it's "twist".
Didn't say that was the twist, but in a world where people say >It's hard to make a game based around someone whom is effectively invincible
It's a way to build growth into gameplay as Superman gets to that level.
>You're a faggot
Love you, sweetheart. Stay golden.

Based schizo user doesn't even know who he's talking to anymore, you coming off as passive aggressive to defend yourself is a poor move, especially when you still haven't even discussed gameplay for a video game. But thank you now whenever I see this image posted I'll know it's you and how in the 6 years you still haven't come up with anything better.

>you still haven't even discussed gameplay for a video game.
>whenever I see this image posted I'll know it's you and how in the 6 years you still haven't come up with anything better.
What ever helps you sleep, darling.

I've honestly been thinking of starting my own gaming/animation studio and doing a Superman game. A really amazing, uplifting, fun Superman game.

Superman answers to a distress call he picked up coming from a solar system far away, as he arrives, it's revealed to be a trap by the main antagonist, who installed beacon towers in the surface of the various planets that orbit that system's sun, turning the yellow sun into a red sun. Superman must now travel from planet to planet, aiding the local population's fight against the villain's forces occupation and destroying the beacon towers, gradually turning the sun back yellow and regaining his full powers along the way. Done and done.
Pic unrelated, I just really like the look of Space Gladiator Daddy Supes.

Attached: supes.jpg (400x609, 73K)

...

You hit the buttons to make him punch stuff and it explodes. If the enemies hit him he loses health because the sun is fucked and if his health reaches zero he dies. It's not rocket science, user.

Nothing good happens in this world.

Spoken like a retard who doesn't know what it takes to make a game

That's literally what all action games are.

The issue isn't inventing a plot contrivance to make Superman not invincible, it's that people expect to be invincible when playing as Superman. Making him not is just gonna make people not actually feel like they're playing as Superman. The challenge is figuring out a way to make playing as an invincible OP character fun.

The best solution I believe is to start him out reasonably powerful and let him grow into full powered Superman like a Prototype... type game.

Do what Prototype did.
Sure you aren't invincible but damn if you didn't feel powerful.

Don't make a fighting game- make a puzzle game.
>How do I keep a volcano from erupting by drilling tunnels around it?
>How do I get all these people out of a burning high rise?
>How do I get the giant robot to fall into the river in stead of on a building?
Occasionally a Superman villain shows up for a bossfight.
Doomsday gets a redemption arc

Someone also posted the canned Arkham knight sequel concept art on Yea Forums last week where you would play as Damian Wayne with Bat bike

It's too bad about TellTale, I think they could actually manage a good Superman game with their formula.

Have Clark Kent do reporter work with conversations and investigations, have something happen where he secretly uses his powers and then having a showdown later with him in full costume and QTEs.

honestly this. an open world puzzle game with some combat mechanics. it's not like the mechanics for superman returns were....awful (though not great)

>Sick of your shit Darkseid
>Frame of Doomguy HUD Face animation looking left to right
>hehehehehehehehe Doomsday

Horseshit.
Don't make the game about what damage he takes or not.
Make the point system be about how many people you save, how LITTLE damage you do to your environment, how creative you are with how you save people.

bump...

Here is some stuff from the Factor 5 Superman game.

Just make enemies who can fucking hurt him, none of this gay gimmicky bullshit about the city being the healthbar

Attached: superman-factor5-01.jpg (819x456, 33K)

the fact that theres no good superman game is a fucking joke

>Superman's deadliest enemies
>Doomsday
>Metalo
>Parasite
>Dr. Quest

There is a new freegame called UNDEFEATED. It seems like a good prototype for what a good supes game would be like.

Attached: 2019-08-14-image-25.jpg (1680x945, 190K)

Just fucking make him take damage, who fucking cares?

Just make the enemies strong enough to hurt him, like an army of Bizarros of whatever.
