It's an archaic word with roots in Middle and Old English. It could signify that this character is damn proper or that he speaks in a dialect. I don't really have comprehensive knowledge in Cope's use of dialects or the lifespans of Coppers to really say anything more.

With the exception of a few turns of phrase, Unsounded is perfectly readable.

I'm not even a native speaker and I have problem parsing the text.

By consulting a dictionary, you cheated not only the author, but yourself. You didn't grow. You didn't improve. You took a shortcut and gained nothing. You experienced a hollow comic. Nothing was read and nothing was learned. It's sad that you don't know the difference.

This may or may not be Vampire. This also may or may not be the guy Ashley mentioned years ago on her tumblr who's the strongest man in the comic or some shit and was designed to look like a pirate.

Maybe she just runs off down another cave or something. Or makes a second deal with the loyalist forces or something. I have little doubt she escapes alive and with little threat to her life given how Duane treats the subject. There's little reason for Duane to open up with a lie like this. Especially since we know he's so fucking bad at it. Sure, we know he had a fucked up recollection of what happened to Jon out of immense guilt and probably some narcissism, but it's unlikely something similar happened with the Salt Lizard. We've already played that card, narratively. I don't think we'll see it pop up again like that.

As I understood it, Roger and Vampire are two different people, both Coppers from Avelpit. Roger is a nobleman, Vampire is some kind of popular rebel.

However, Roger travels under the pseudonym of Vampire for purposes of rebellion, as the Foi-Hellick's and Vampire's causes are intertwined.

And besides, I think it was supposed to be something common to the eventual four major Senet Beasts also mentioned in the post. The eyes in mouth is really only Salt Lizard's thing right now, and they're there because otherwise her salt eczema would constantly get in her eyes or crust over them. That image of Ilganyag is not so much having eyes in her mouth has her being drawn mid body vomiting. She has eyes both in her bird face and her lady face. They may even be the same eyes? Don't know.

Wait. Four main senet beasts. Four Geffender gods. Right? Salt lizard is blue and white and has a fat belly and is female. Is she Yerta?

Cope said the "interesting thing" would be obvious after we'd seen all the major senet beasts but people have already said in the past that Tiddybird and Tirna have similarities. If we have Tiddybird/Tirna and Salt Lizard/Yerta, who are the other two gods?

Imagine how insufferable Sette would become if she knew Ssael was her real dad. Duane would have a crisis of faith of formidable magnitude.

Baelar and Riv

Both male, which complicates the idea. Also while Baelar was the creator of knowledge and art (most notably pymary) and Riv's thoughts (or other things) are the source of the world in Yerta's belly, the only male Senet we know of right now is Ruck, whose whole schtick is TAKING knowledge and memories

Ruck is also now in charge of the Blacktongues and is using his venom to help them dissect the human soul. Gaining and (incidentally) sharing knowledge is definitely a thing with him, and he's working with a group that pushes the limits of pymary. He doesn't have the "art" angle, but he seems most aligned with Baelar.

That being said, he also seems to want to truly experience the mortal perspective, which is something that was forced on Tirna as a punishment. Maybe Ruck's a red herring, and not one of the main four senet beasts. He's an impostor, hoping to usurp the domains of one of the four. He's a demon, not a god.

We know fish tits will be relevant to the plot heavily in book two, and we know from what Ashley said the salt lizard is one of the main four. If both Ruck and the lady were part of the main four, then we'd have all four now. So our current three probably Minnow, salt lizard, and Ilganyag.

Minnow is so different from the other two though, what would all three of them have in common?

I don't think Minnow counts, she's too small and powerless. There's something cosmic about Tits and Salt that Minnow the river slut doesn't possess. My money's on Ruck being the third and the fourth is TBA.

Maybe not, but the way she worded it was the story's fourth major senet beast. I took that to mean in terms of particularly prominent characters, but I suppose it could also mean something akin to particularly large and powerful eldritch-like senet beasts.

Guys, the significant feature that the four main senet beasts have in common is the lack of a navel.

Baelar is the mythological father of Pymary, while in reality it was taught to the Tainish by the Agib, which were Senet Beast birds with eyes in their wings (Master Ballenstern of the Black Tongues had one). But we already have black birds with Ilganyag... What colors are associated with Baelar?

As for Riv, I'm betting he was a Typhoon Whale. Just look at his description on the wiki:

I don't know if it's been stated, but everyone seems to be assuming that three of the four main senet beasts have been introduced.

We have Shaensigin, a goddess who has been separated from her "children", who she was unable to protect.

We have Minnow, an outcast from her own immortal people who now identifies with and cares about humans. She's also a complete sweetheart without a malicious bone in her body, and is not clever enough to be a sly trickster.

And we have Ruck, a cunning predator who is currently helping push the boundaries of knowledge and pymary because it interests him at the moment. He has no actual benevolence or creativity, merely taking things without thinking of contributing anything in return.

These three are like inverted versions of Yerta, Tirna, and Baelar. Could Tiddybird be like an inverted version of Ssael, and also not one of the "main four" for some reason? Obviously not, because the entire story seems to revolve around her, and she is way too close to Tirna to be excluded from any twin gods comparison.
