In every iteration of Spider he's portrayed as a mass murderer who has a sense of humor that is on par with THE FUCKING JOKER. The blue filter is a trend in Hollywood for a while now. They think it makes everything look "cooler". They've even been taking older movies, like the first Batman movie, and putting a blue filter over it for the 4k releases.

Producers/execs push for PG/PG-13 because they think it will make them more money. With R movies they can't abuse the inflation from kids bugging their parents to take them to see the movie.

Venom is a very popular husbando. The symbiote itself is weird, so they'd have to be creative with how they show it off but this ways can be used to make it a tad more nuanced and complicated so that the inattentive viewer would just see platonic character development.
