Lesbians in cartoons are an extremely popular trend now but what I think is wierd is that I can'd think of any time anyone in those cartoons actually said the word "Lesbian"? Is that word banned in cartoons or something?

Yes. They want to do it but never to make it explicit.
Lots of cartoons have deaths but can't say "die".

This thread is gonna die faster than usual
they dont want 9 year olds to fill the family computer search history with "Lesbian"
Other words never used are Gay, Bisexual, Partner, Queer, Transexual, etc.
It's not like they say "straight," as in the sexuality, for straight couples either.
They'll at least say "boyfriend/girlfriend" or "husband/wife" for straight couples. It's like they avoid explicit language regarding this stuff because it trips some sort of censor even when its already incredibly obvious.
I don't think it's a censor thing. I think it's that the target demo, kids, ain't old enough to follow or find interesting conversations about sexuality that are written from an experienced perspective. Besides, do any of those four examples even go into homophobia? In perfect little worlds with no consequences for being gay then there's not much of a reason to discuss the identity.
Yuri on the other hand doesn't use The L Word for different yet similar reasons; one that the main audience do not give a shit about the gay experience, and the other that open discussion about sexuality would remove 99% of these shows' shitty shallow tension.
Lesbians are better than gays because the fags get their "representation" and I get to fap without feeling dirty afterwards
Is the infinity symbol for autism now
Not since eightchan went offline
>Lesbians in cartoons are an extremely popular trend now
Just because writers want to push it doesnt mean its actually popular with audiences
They're too cowardly to use words like lesbian. They want to seem like they're progressive, but refuse to actually go THAT far with it.
>but what I think is wierd is that I can'd think of any time anyone in those cartoons actually said the word "Lesbian"? Is that word banned in cartoons or something?
How often do you heard the word "Heterosexual" or "straight" (in that context) being said?
Autistic canadian maniac posting in 4,3,2,1...
Korra, Asami, Bubblegum and Marceline are bisexual not lesbian. Get it right dumbasses
How can Space rocks be lesbians if they are genderless?
This. It would be clunky as hell to just randomly drop into conversation.
You don't need to use a label when it's normal.
Reminder that the Simpsons, one of the most popular and well-known series zombie franchises ever, has had homos in the form of Waylen Smithers and Patty Bouvier.

>fanbase HEAVILY shipped the 2 and the studio just went along with it along with a few other "these 2 background characters are always together"
>no one is upset by the outcome when they finally hinted at it in a episode equivalence of an April fools joke
