Read through the Claremont run up until Inferno recently. I can't even imagine how fucking hype that moment must have been at the time. The best part about comics is the way they progress and develop organically, that is a completely different Wolverine than the cowboy at the start of the run. Too bad that will never happen again.

New antagonist. Ninja-type fellow, symbol looks like a DD but it's... katagana? The other thing? Name is Ikari. Basically, has Daredevil's exact powers, training, etc, and is brought in by Bullseye to fuck Daredevil up.
And he's doing so, with aplomb, has DD on the run. Sprinklers are triggered and DD realizes this is his one chance to get the upper hand- radar sense is almost useless in these conditions, so he can prepare an attack Ikari won't be ready for. They're in a sporting goods store or some such. Matt reaches for an improvised weapon...
...and it turns out that Ikari can see fine, which means he's just been watching DD struggle and hide, biding his time to fuck with him.

Hulk's new thing is that whenever he dies he fully regenerates. He's fighting the new Abomination with acid spit that also negates his healing. So Hulk is left without hands, legs, and a face but still alive. Betty becomes Harpy and rips his heart out and eats. Pretty symbolic if you think about it. This kills Hulk and allows him to fully regenerate. It's also tied into gamma being a force from Hell that keeps everyone exposed to it from permanently dying.

I don't remember exactly if it's that issue or a few issues before when they're still at Savage Land but these are the point Wolverine went from "some dude who plays badass but kinda jobs all the time" to "a fucking killing machine", and it's so badass that it made it perfectly clear how and why Wolverine became the ubiquitous presence he is these days (and I say this as someone who kinda disliked the character, mostly due to the overexposition).
