You can, but be prepared to deal with people who come into DC threads to talk about how much they'd rather not be talking about DC.
We can talk about Kamala Khan. So cuddly.
What's there to talk about until WB fires Dan DiDio
>year of the villain
>LMAOS
>Doomsday delay
Shit is fucked yo
nah
Mostly did it because the last thread was deleted for no reason. Wasn't like there was shit flinging going on.
DC > shit >>>>>>>>>> Marvel >>>>>>>>>>> Sony >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Disney
Why have we had zero martian Green Lanterns? Yeah, they're extinct half the time, but when they do exist they are never mentioned. I feel like if we had sentient life in telescope range, they'd have a bit of a bigger role in our society. How do they feel about our rovers? Are there Martian worshiping cults? I Love the Green Beetle for this exact reason.
Lil upset about Krypton. I was just getting around to watching season 2 too.
Any Krypton-centric comic recs, Yea Forums? I'm a Supes casual at best and I've never read many if any stories that took place there.
That last thread was nuked for no reason. I guess the janny thinks it was company wars?
Anyways, what's everyone reading currently? For me, its transmetropolitan and superman brainiac, and sandman and some pre infinte crisis JLA
I guess its because they're already space cops
It depends. Can I talk about obscure shit like Doll Girl or nah?
>Can we talk DC
Better do it while you have the chance before the comic division is closed
Hulk will beats King's Batman again
I really want to talk Hypercrisis? Is it a DC thing or has it been present amongst competing religions? I really love that kind of stuff, I would appreciate it if someone linked all Hypercrisis threads and screencaps here.
Like Kryptonians, DC Martians are all either regular heroes, villains or fucking dead, it's not like there's much to work with.
That said, Martian Manhunter was once a Green Lantern in that one fantasy where he repopulated Mars, so I guess that kinda sorta counts.
Okay. Not that I care either way but eventually that run will run out of steam as well.
If you have to
>been present amongst competing religions
read some Mircea Eliade.
>go to barnes and noble
>look at their """""graphic novel""""" section
>75% marvel
>20% DC
>5% other
>out of all the DC books, more than half are batman
Does DC just hate publishing trades or do they not ship to big box stores? I'd be okay with DC not shipping because it's good for mom and pops
Is there a more pathetic company than DC?
>every movie is edgy garbage that flops
>cherish an award for makeup like it's a genuine accomplishment
>comics aren't selling because all their characters are boring idiots who don't act anything like human beings
>literally ask any normie and they will tell you DC heroes are stupid
>fans driven out of Yea Forums by based Yea Forums exposing them as reddit soibois
>80 bajillion cartoons nobody watches
>80 bajillion CW shows nobody watches
>Diamond's bitch for over 20 years
>Literally fired Didio quietly then rehired him after Johns proved to be a failure
>current business model is to hire every Marvel writer from the 2000s so they can make the universe a self-absorbed melodramatic hellhole for the next 20 years
"B-But at l-least we aren't SJWs...!"
why not
Please don't ruin this thread
So Doll Girl what a tragic character.
The thing that made her so compelling and a hero is what ultimately killed her. She was too small to have her cancer treated properly.
Since when did you give a shit? This board has been anti-DC for over a decade.
You didn't care when man of murder posting was rampant
You didn't care when pic related took hold
You literally had a sticky for Black Panther's Grammy awards or whatever just to rub it in their faces.
>no please muh cibil diskussins
Kek
We had a good run, 80 years is kinda a long time when you think about it. We got to have our brief time in the sun as DChads. How can you fault us for not being able to complete with Marvel? Nobody can get on their level. It’s going to be rough for us to transition into DCucks, but this is the path we chose. I just wish we could’ve had a few more years as DChads.
Would Jessica be better as a Blue, or Indigo Lantern.
Shit sucks. The show was good and had a great Brainiac and Doomsday.
Well, we'll always have superman and Grant Morrisons run on the JLA
I'd rather a graceful end over zombies.
Damn this is a spot on burn right here
>superman
What's it like knowing that when the general public thinks of a man with a red cape flying they think of Thor and not Superman
I know I shouldn't take the bait but...
>every movie is edgy garbage that flops
Wouldn't call either WW or Aquaman edgy
>cherish an award for makeup like it's a genuine accomplishment
You're confusing people baiting mousetards on here with anyone actually cherishing awards that everyone knows you can buy
>literally ask any normie and they will tell you DC heroes are stupid
Normies will also tell you the awful live-action remakes are fantastic.
So did it end on a hard cliffhanger? I'd hate to binge the thing and be left on a cliffhanger.
Do you think DC is in a good place right now? This is a sincere question.
Thor has a red cape? I know Thor is more popular right now, but his cape is never given attention. He doesn't even wear a decent chunk of time.
Oh man DC it's really fucking things up nonstop from years now. We won't have another golden age like mid 80's to '04.
Pulling JLD only for Zatanna and some cool art here and there. And Terrifics for some reason, this arc is kinda boring, I had high hopes of the writer since that guy killed it of on New Superman
No, but it's still a multibillion dollar company. That's not bad, no matter how much the greedy shareholders whine.
Why did DC hire Bendis?
Tradewaiting on Doomsday Clock and GL.
Editorial side Didio and Harras are an abominations and those awful writers in charge doesn't help shit either. Bendis King, Snyder and KSD must be purged.
On other note the animated movies really lowered their quality. Too much batman in general.
Who even possesses the power to delete threads?
If DC wants my money they need to stop using Scott Snyder’s napkin scribbles as the cornerstone of their line
B...... Bendis?
You mean Detective Comics comics, that DC?
#didiot
The comic books alone (not the IP) makes a half billion just with reprints of collections.
I'm really enjoying the "superman in the sky" run that's current
here is your starfire bro
How come we don;t have permanent DC or Marvel generals?
Been reading some Bates Captain Atom, I'm honestly kind of surprised it's way better than I thought it would be, have some more issues coming in the mail as well as some Ostrander Firestorm issues, really excited to get to read those.
Trying to get into some of the current ongoing, anyone got any suggestions? Flash is okay but never really gets better than that, Justice League Dark is pretty cool, heard good things about Deathstroke but also that it's been building since the start of the series so I don't really want to jump in the middle of it. Series I've heard the best things about is Hawkman and I see that it went from being 12 issues to an ongoing or something like that.
doomsday clock #11 september 4th
man I don't even give a fuck about the black starfire thing, but the whole thing just looks so bad. Like, what are they even wearing on their eyes. are they being mind controlled? god damn I dont even care anymore.
Hawkman, superman in the sky, green lantern, and jimmy Olsen come to mind
Is talking about how shit Marvel will be without Spider-Man on topic?
>Dr. Strange
>Ant-Man
>Black Widow
>Scarlett Witch
>Shang-Chi
>Whor
>Captain Marvel
>Blade
This is your phase four
Stop shilling Hawkman
Seems like a good thread to ask in. While reading Ostrander’s Suicide Squad I noticed that June Moon needs to say the word “Enchantress” to transform, much the same way Billy has to say “Shazam!” to transform. Has DC ever done a story wherein they explore this minor link between two these two characters? Is Enchantress ties at all to the Rock of Eternity? Seems like there should be but I have t found anything yet.
Justice League Odyssey has picked up since Williamson left and Abnett took over
The Green Lantern is great. Was originally just gonna be a 12 issue 'season' but Morrison has since confirmed he's got at least one more season and a middlefare series in the works too. Jimmy Olsen is on two issues thus far but both have been pretty entertaining, and Lois Lane has been good too.
He's asking for good currents. I'm not a fan of most of the bigger shit. It's relevant, so dont be a fag and shut up
I'd NOT MUH but I don't even watch Titans. I do however think their Donna is pretty cute.
It would spare this board of a lot of the shit that's basically made it Yea Forumstoo/
Or just ban live action and live action retards from Yea Forums.
Because mods are marvelfags
Definitely want to check out Green Lantern, I was almost considering just waiting for the second HC, but that's not out for another 3 months so I'll probably just get the first one and then the rest of the floppies and get those Blackstar ones coming out too.
Funny because I remember a lot of people saying how boring it was for the first arc and now with the writer change I've seen a lot more people liking it, might have to check it out.
Call me a boomer but I'm kind of partial to Superman-National Comics- DC (Detective Comics) Comics
Legit question, what are good DC stories you'd recommend to a relative DC newcomer that are like actually from the main books?
I've read Frank Miller Batman and All-Star Superman and a few other things people usually recommend as stories to "get into" DC but it comes across to me like it's always some limited series or off-shoot. Am I missing something here?
I like the '72, '76, and '05 ones the best
Grell's Green Arrow run
Morrison's Doom Patrol run
Ostrander's Suicide Squad
Moore's Swamp Thing
DC goes through logos like Marvel goes through Captain Marvels
It's what DC excels at. Great self contained stories partially tied to continuity and/or not in any main series.
Waid Flash
Levitz Legion of superheroes
Ennis Hitman
Byrne Superman
Morrison Batman
Factually false.
Superman is still more iconic than Thor.
I feel like baby steps are about all we can legitimately hope for at this point.
I remember years ago in certain circles people would say "what the Dan DiDio is going on?" but now that just seems more relevant than ever. Just fire his fucking head up his ass already WB.
Perpetua is the stupidest shit. Just really muddles up the lore honestly.
I mean giving Lantern Rings to Martians kinda cheapens them the way giving a ring to Kryptonians/Daxamites, Thanagarians, Amazons, Atlanteans etc would. They already got hella good super powers already or if nerfed they got decent tech/fighting skills to compensate. Give Spectrum rings to the more squishy multiverse beings instead.
I feel like DC lends itself really well to one shots or limited story arcs. Don't really know why but maybe because there wasn't the emphasis on world building from the get-go and most
characters stayed in their own little bubbles/cities for the most part and didn't really interact, save for the occasional crossover, so that's why I think some of the most recommended comics
are one and done stories. For getting into the DC universe proper and seeing more of the universe, you might like Morrison's JLA, Justice League International(and the following Giffen stuff)
Ostrander's Suicide Squad, Brave and the Bold, Dixon's Nightwing, Waid's Flash just to name a few.
Some other main continuity books that I liked are:
Green Arrow by Mike Grell, Kevin Smith, Brad Meltzer, Jeff Lemire
Batman: Morrison, No Man's Land era
Superman: Geoff Johns, Tomasi
Swamp Thing by Alan Moore, Veitch, Morrison, Millar, Soule
Green Lantern: Geoof Johns, Tomasi, Hal n Pals by Venditti
Gotham Central
Aquaman: Geoff Johns, Dan Abnett, to a lesser extent Peter David
Thanks a lot
Is Batman Hush any good? I kinda gave up on DCAnimated films after that terrible Harley one. Plus seeing Didio in BTS footage being a dumb fat fuck doesn't help either.
The 40s ones are pretty meh and don't care for 70 and 74 but the rest are pretty cool and memorable. Where's the Johnny DC logo tho? Doesn't that count?
This one?
Currents: Wonder Twins, Shazam (when it actually comes out), JL Dark, Jimmy Olsen, Tec, Red Hood, DCeased, BB,
I'm finishing up Snyder-Soule Swamp Thing. Some JSA, Power of Shazam!
You like the peel/toilet seat?
Ya know as much as I see the criticism I kinda like it's originality but yeah maybe it's good they retired it lol?
Guardians hate the Martians same as they hated Kryptonians, they split the original Martians into Plutonians, Saturnians, Green, White, and Yellow Martians to prevent them from becoming more powerful than the Guardians themselves.
The Guardians also supposedly did this to earth but far more effectively.
:D yeah
Hmm so the Guardians are kinda rayciss is what you're saying? Damn no wonder why everyone in the Multiverse hates them
Guardians are turbo assholes, their own race is so old it split into several versions each with godlike powers Guardians being the most powerful of them all and they know it the only good thing they ever did was decide to never reproduce because kids can't be trusted not to abuse god powers.
the movie or the comic?
That's rough, buddy
I guarantee you that's no longer the case, they had the opportunity to make him into the next Superman with Infinity War but they fucked him over so goddam hard in endgame he'll never be anything close to Superman ever again.
Thor will always be seen as a pussy faggot going forward, there are no men left in the MCU.
Give it to me straight guys. Honestly, how bad a place is DC really in? Will they be able to pull themselves out of this mess or will they go out of business? And I’m talking about all media comics, movies, TV ect. You can’t deny their movies just don’t put butts in seats the way Marvel does.
>Can we talk DC
We talk about shit all the times, OP.
>You're confusing people baiting mousetards on here with anyone actually cherishing awards that everyone knows you can buy
Implying DChodes weren't treating the suicide squad makeup award as their proof of superiority over the company that would dominate them a year later
And ladderfag is back to offer the board absolutely nothing once again. Crawl back into your Yea Forums hole.
who did this the retards on Yea Forums?
Indigo, choking on my cock as she goes "nok nok nok"
Still currently reading/following Red Hood, Teen Titans, JL, JLO, Tec, Superman Year One, and Green Lantern.
Non current readings: Robinson's Starman/JSA, and Batman Oddysey.
It's best to just ignore him and his rambling obsessions. He gets himself worked up over the same weak shit everyday.
>Superman Year One
I barely got through book one. Have you (or anyone else) read book 2 yet? How was it?
The first half is incredibly dull like the first book, then it dives headfirst in to lunacy.
Guess I'll just have to see the crazy through then. Never could pass up Brand Frank crazy.
I hated Snyder's run and loved Soule's run til the machine shit showed up or whatever. Is it worth trying to get back into it?
Good for Hulk. I fucking hate King.
They do publish trades. But most of theirs are either the same old same old or just dogshit runs nobody reads.
I want my O’Neil Question!
Stopped being mad when that show turned out be pretty entertaining.
Doubt it, you know it’s gonna get delayed again.
>superman in the sky
You know I just don’t get it. King on Batman and Bendis on Superman have been an abomination. But when you switch them around, why do they get good?
Current: Moz’s GL, Collapser, Jimmy Olsen, Dial H and RHaTO
Old: Moz’s JLA, some Elseworlds and Sebastian O
Anybody keeping up with Lucifer? I like it so far but I'm wondering if he's the original from vertigo or a totally new one. Didn't he leave the universe in Mike Carey's run?
The Guardians are huge hypocrites, they want to be the universe police so much that they annihilate anything that stands in their way.
The Kryptonians used to have an empire building era when the Daxamites formed. Then the Guardians fucking beat their entire empire back and turn them into the isolationist planet that later killed them.
The Martians used to be the most powerful species until the Guardians being the assholes that they are, genetically tampered with their species splitting them into white and green martians and also giving their deathly weakness of fire.
Or how they just casually eliminate magic from most of the fucking universe.
Or did you ever wonder why only Earth and a few other planets have mythical gods? Yep the Guardians genocides them all.
These fuckers are just like the dragons in Endless Legends - Pompous assholes.
Stupid question, but is Transmetropolitan related to Watchmen in any way?
It seems like a new version.
Still don’t get why people love Snyder’s Swampthing so much. It’s way worse than Lemire’s Animal Man which it usually get compared to.
Question, what do you guys think about Morrison’s GL? How does it compared to John’s run for instance?
No it’s a completely different universe.
Wat. Yea Forums are the biggest DCucks there is. Thought BvS would be the biggest movie ever. Still go on about it. Have thought Black Panther and Captain Marvel would fail saying no one wants to watch black people or women while those then broke records. Cry about Marvel and say it's for SJWs while Marvel breaks every record BTFOing them continually.
Do you realize just how defeatist this sounds? You aren’t even hoping that Batman could improve, instead you just wait for the other title to fail. Personally, I want Batman to improve AND seeing as I am enjoying Hulk at the moment I want it to keep its momentum.
Sadly...it’s far more likely that Hulk will run out of steam because of fickle fans and writers getting burnt out or shuffled over to other titles. Batman will continue to suck because the powers-that-be at DC are shit, we’re probably getting Bendis on Batman after King. Still...I can hope for better, while you chose defeat.
It’s just ladderfag being himself again. Recently he’s been LARPing as a Morrison hater calling everyone cultists, now since that didn’t work he resorted to being back to his old MO.
Just ignore him.
Really wish someone other than JR jr was drawing it. The first issue with Clark as a kid was really atrocious.
Which aliens in DC are your favorite. I just love the Dominators and their old event where they invaded Earth were one of my guilty pleasures to read.
I personally don't like it when Guardians are written as these egotistical assholes who ruin whole species for their ideas.
I prefer when the guardians are written as these moral but emotionally cold and often ignorant of a situation, who actually are super OP but never join in fighting conflict until it is Anti-Monitor level.
How do I find that while cinematic universe of porn that one huge DC fan made. Apparently everyone was really in character.
Has anyone here read Green Lantern Willworld? Currently reading Morrison's GL, so I wanna expand my graphic novel collection and heard it's pretty good.
About how awful it is and how the sooner it goes bankrupt the better?
King wants to write a savior and bendis wants to write an underdog. That's the best way I can put it
WHERE THE FUCK IS THE NEW COMIC OF MUH BOY GREEN ARROW!!!???
After how the CW has been? In the trash.
THEY FUCKING CANNED MAD
AND VERTIGO
FUCK
The Guardians as they stands now is acting like a big nation in our current world politics. Always blabbering about shit like human rights, democracy or freedom while finding every way to undermine their “enemies” which are literally anything that has a tiny chance of upsetting their complete domination.
And I think that fits.
It’s really fucking good. A good brain trip for everyone. Too bad Fisher died so young, he would have been perfect with Morrison.
Let’s be honest here, both Vertigo and MAD had been on life support for years before being finally put down. Now they’re replaced by Black Label, YA, Hill House and the Sandman Universe so nothing was lost.
2nd this. I want this.
You’ve been posting the same thing for 4 years now bud. They’re not going anywhere.
Wait, wat?
Why is DC always Marvels bitch? Why are their sales so much lower the Marvels? Why can’t they have a successful movie universe like Marvel? If DC isn’t dying why does it feel like they’re dying?
Just because they are a billion dollar company, instead of a multi-billion dollar company, doesn't mean they're dying.
Ok, fair enough but why can’t they compete with Marvel? How come characters like Antman can get sequels but Superman can’t?
How was the last ongoing anyway? Can't see them doing another so soon unless it's a mini.
Martha....
Good and promising stuff at DC:
>The Green Lantern
>Young Animal
>Hill House
>The Sandman Universe
>Black Label
>The Terrifics
>Wonder Twins
>Dial H for Hero
>Jimmy Olsen
>Lois Lane
>Prieststroke
>Martian Manhunter
>Wonder Woman
>YA Graphic Novels
JL Odyssey, JL Dark, Red Hood, Young Justice are fine/fun.
Never did I say I didn't want it to improve or change writers. But I'm also not all that invested like you seem to be. I'm not really on a Bat kick at the moment desu. And sure maybe King is part of the reason why but it's also just because I'm burnt out on the character. There really just is too many minis and ongoings and such. From the sounds of it Hulk is having a special quality run so good for it. It probably deserves it over a run that's been polarizing at best. I don't mind it when quality rises to the top regardless of the title. But I'm just being a realist here, it's probably not going to last. And that poster was just shitposting anyway.
I prefer Marta the Strong Woman!
Antman 2 fucking sucks man. I loved the first one but the sequel feels like a Disney channel movie with higher budget.
I’m really fucking hype for the new Black Label Question book. Finally they can explain what Vic’s been doing all these years after he died.
>Diddle Cock
The guardians have always been complete cunts, with the exception of Ganthet and his wife. And even then, not even his hands are unstained.
>JL Dark
Muh magic is ending DBZ shit
>Young Justice
Beyond boring and the sales is tanking hard.
Not much from DC these days, outside of the older material. Superman: Year One is the only thing really.
DOn't think I've gotten to the machine part yet (think there is only about 8 issues left though) but overall I have felt Soule has been a definite improvement over Snyder. Snyder had some decent ideas but the execution was wonky. Felt like Soule nailed the character, somewhat reminiscent of the Moore run at times imo. I'll probably finish it even if it hits a snag because there really isn't much left and I've really enjoyed what I've read so far.
Not much to talk about.
I liked Alan Scott and Jay Garrick and the JSA, Power Girl, Wally and Bart, legacy heroes as a concept, Dickbats, Tim and Young Justice.
They have killed or ruined or both all of my favorite characters for the neverending Bats Barry Hal show.
Fuck Didio and Johns and the whole DC editorial staff.
I thought Terrifics was cancelled.
I'm reading Batgirl, the one with Stephanie Brown. I'm enjoying it for the most part, there anything with her in the nu52?
Why Superman gotta narc on her?
>He's back
Sometimes, I wonder if VPNs are a boon or a bane to mankind
This. Dan has been around too long, and what he wants isn't gelling with the base readers.
Personally, I was into what they were doing with Rebirth, but pretty much everything set up has been undone. So I find myself caring less and less about the DCU.
I WANT A FLASH CARTOON RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!
nope! Gene Luen Yang took over
Any comics for them soon?
I agree, but at least it still got a sequel. Superman didn’t and there is no word of one coming anytime soon.
I wanna die!
facsimile sure are nice
Which has more to do with Cavill looking to sweeten the pot with a new contract and DC moving on from him alltogether. You're acting as if Superman has only ever had one movie. They'll reboot it soon enough, which would likely please the MoS naysayers.
https m imgur com gallery 9JYV6
Any synopsis on this yet? Definitely down for more Vic.
Just finished the New Frontier and I finally got around to reading The Killing Joke. Now I'm about 12 issues into new52 Green Lantern and I'm liking it so far. Not sure if I'll tackle Justice League International next or Red Hood and the Outlaws
Not even the MCU could get Thor higher than Supes in terms of wide spread recognizabity and popularity. And he'll never be that popular again
Mental health is a serious issue, user. I do sincerely hope you find help.
It will never not be amusing that Marvelfags take so muh pride in having on ongoing at the 20th issue selling better than one DC ongoing at the 85th issue.
How well you think Hulk will be selling at 85th?
>Actually thinking this
Speaking of Superman, god birthright is so good
Marvel fans have developed a number of weird-ass beliefs this last decade, including but not limited to "Thor is a much more well-known character than Superman".
My favorite ones are:
- Jonathan Hickman is the best writer in all literature since Joseph Conrad
- The peak of the medium "comic books" are stories about Doctor Doom becoming omnipotent
- "Civil War" is a tackling and sensible critic of post 9/11 America
>DC thread devolves into Dcucks butthurt over Marvel even with its current troubles
Pottery
I argue the animated movies are going up in quality and none of the 4-5 movies announced at this point are batman related
>Marvel fans get into every DC thread to "gloat" about how the material they read is of a much higher quality
If reading Marvel is a source of pride for you, you're already lost.
The only thing I've read by ostrander so far was his run on Martian Manhunter and it was friggen grand, I'll have to look into that firestorm comic
You'd be wrong.
>or will they go out of business
Once again, DC makes half a billion each and every year just WITH reprints.
It has the same concerns every other current comic publisher has with issues like the Direct Market, Marble has them, Dark Horse has them worse and only someone like Archie, which still has access to the supermarkets and drug stores, is less immune to those problems.
And Schoolastic is outselling all that Marble by 1000 to 1.
Arigato Amigo!
#didiot
janeys gonna janey
>MoS naysayers
A lof them liked Cavill. Personally, I thought he bulked up too much and he was too willing to go along with Snyder's stupidity, for as much as he claims to like comic books (I believe him that he's a gamer, I'm not sure i believe that he read comic books before the first time he tried to be cast as Clark).
'sup ladderbro
Hasn't the disney intern college credit lead to a degree by now?
me too, user.
With this kind of modeling, but starring and based in the same universe as the Flash from the DCAU with Rosenbaum voicing him.
But the movies are making BILLIONS!
>Laddercuck comes into a DC thread to shit it up
Typical
Yeah, he definitely could work as Supes with the right direction. But that seems less and less likely at this point unless it's all just a standoff but those rarely end well. The bulking at least differentiated him from the more lanky, swimmers frame of say Reeve and Routh and was more modern comics accurate. I think either one work depending on the tone and story.
I really want a director to take the dc heros back to being bulky badasses in spandex. I'm tired of the constant need for tech nonsense in the costume, they become too busy. I'd love to see what a live action version of alex ross art would look like in a movie
That’s Doll Man lol
Scholastic does publish marble books as well to be fair
Not that I'm aware of, sorry I cant be any more help than that
The problem with titans is that its actually kinda good? Everyone wanted to trash it because of the designs sobit being pretty good kinda threw a wrench into that
I'm a fan of the 2005 one, just think its aesthetic
1987 wonder woman is the best run she's ever had imo and the 1987 justice league is super short at just 7 issues but it leads into JLI which is godlike kino
This
The animated stuff has been getting better, with JL vs the fatal Five and batman vs TNT being recent gems
Im only keeping up with The Terrifics and Freedom Fighters from DC as of late.
Outside of that I've just been rewatching JLU
I know I'm late but what about the Batman Ninja movie
Worth pirating it?
my god, Dianne Guerrero is so god damn perfect
I'd skip it.
>crisis on infinte earths rebooted DCs continuity
What did infinte crisis and final crisis do in terms of continuity?
It's Batman time traveling to Ye Olde Japan, and doing wacky shit. It's not really meant to be good in a traditional sense. If you accept it's wacky fun for the fun of it, it gets much better.
If you just want bat cheese, it's good.
Didn't they also (soft) reboot it?
>Marvel living rent free in someone's head
Huh, I'm okay for wacky stuff, I'm a bit tired of super dark shit and muh society joker memes, let's see how crazy are these japs
Thanks for the sincerity
They were written to be read as 12 page stories, not for the trade.
>The series will investigate a mystery involving The Question's discovery that he is caught in a vicious cycle of reincarnation, dating back to the 1930s Old West.
>just work out bro
I like it. Big mystery with possible mind fuckery. I remember enjoying what Lemire did with GA, so cautiously optimistic.
>COIE rebooted the DCU and deleted the Multiverse
>Zero Hour to Infinite Crisis folds back in some Pre-Crisis history selectively and along with "52" reveals that the Multiverse is still alive
>Final Crisis was a lot of New God stuff, giving more information on the Monitors and showing off the new Multiverse. The effects of FC and Darkseids death impact the DCU even through the next reboot as you can still hear characters talk about the event in Multiversity which takes place Post-Flashpoint
Which brings me to:
> Flashpoint. Where DC/Warner execs force Geoff Johns at gunpoint to turn his follow-up to Flash:Rebirth time travel story into a line wide reboot. They let him and Morrison keep their ongoings essentially unchanged after the reboot happens, as consolation prizes.
>Rebirth. Everything Pre Flashpoint and some stuff that's flat out golden age shit starts getting folded back into continuity. Like 1/3 of the DCU timeline from before has now come back in thanks to Superman merging lives and other odd events.
Obviously you mean Eddie.
I'm working my way through the original JLI and some 70's Legends of the Dark Knight. Batman is shit now days, but it's easy to see how he became popular in the first place.
>Dan has been around too long, and what he wants isn't gelling with the base readers.
That's because everything he does is short-sighted bullshit that damages the brand in the long run.
That’s fine, I appreciate you taking the time to go ahead and give me an answer
Are there any non-swamp thing horror books published by DC?
His old books
They're rolling out a new horror imprint Hill House starting in October
Yeah I'm pretty excited DESU
The link didn't work for me.
Would only kick her out of bed to get a sandwich really
Will he ever get a movie or something after him
How are there all these sexy pics of her now? I couldn't find any before
I would be happy with a good mini series
The plot reminds me a lot of Black Hammer curiously enough.
Really want her to show something other than just Hammerhead all the time in the show. It just get grating really quick.
Most if not all of Ostrander's work at DC is really solid. I've heard good thing about his Hawkworld run so I'm going to see if my LCS has any issues of it this weekend
Karen was a lot of bubbly fun
Somebody uses Strong Woman as their code name?
>Black Hammer
Funnily enough I was just about to get into that
Is there any other DC writer that never had a bad run like O’Neil and Ostrander?
Honestly just something, JLD makes me want an series with just him so badly
Just give him another book really, that’s all I’m asking for.
She used to be Strong Girl but because of Hal’s pedo rumors, she changed it.
Maybe Dixon, I really like his Nightwing, Birds of Prey, and Batman stuff, and even things that aren't even on anyone's radar like his Green Arrow work is still pretty solid. Might throw Morrison and Tomasi in there, but I haven't read everything by them
Well I'll have to read more about them then
>five soft reboots
>only makes things more confusing
Like poetry. When will Marvel and DC stop with the soft reboots and give us the very much needed Hard Reboot?
Most of DC’s reboots are hard though. After every crisis a shit ton of things got retcon, and that’s not even mentioning the dumb as shit editorial mandates.
It was the series that made me think that Lemire can write a team book. Too bad I was wrong since his Terrifics was boring.
I've stopped enjoying DC post-rebirth. Since then everything has felt disappointing to the point where I've basically stopped reading comics in general. I think Super Sons was the last run I've followed and enjoyed. Dark Nights Metal was bad, Heroes in Crisis was bad, Doomsday Clock is meh, but has slowed down DC and continuity to the point where nothing's moving forward (I could be wrong. Isn't there a time jump or something? At least as far as I could tell at least). Bendis is doing his thing on action comics which isn't the worst, but is just annoying.
Are there any good DC runs currently worth reading? I'm only kinda interested in Grant Morrison's GL run, but I'm waiting for the trades on that one.
Even though I enjoyed the METAL event for what it was, as soon as it was announced I knew that was the start of the death of Rebirth. Literally every book was hyping Rebirth and building to it with a clear goal throughout all the titles. Then METAL happened and a lot of shit got dropped.
Green Lantern is good. Terrifics is good even though it was born out of METAL. Astoundingly Lobdell has kept Red Hood interesting even through all the editorial mandated bullshit
Give it another decade or so and both companies will be back at square one in the 30's. Like poetry. Expect a brand new Action Comics #1 in 2038
I like Terrifics.
But Lemire needs an oddball team that's his own and not one he just takes good care of under editorial duress. Put Animal Man, The Question, Hawkman, Superboy, Frankenstein + Bride, and Starfire all on a team and let Lemire go wild.
Ostranders Spectre
Robinsons Starman
Wholesome
He deserves better damn it.
Can DC do something like the recent History of the Marvel Universe? Or is their continuity too fucked up?
I know there is Legacies and the 80s History of the DC Universe by Wolfman and Perez, but they're not quite the same and so much has happened and added to the lore since then.
>Most of DC’s reboots are hard though.
Not really. Flash, Green Lantern, Green Arrow and JLA histories were kept and referenced, Batman was mostly kept, etc. That's a lot of shit.
Yep. There are more Marthas
I mean, after Crisis*
And that's not mentioning that Teen Titans continued seamlessly from where it was.
>Oh man DC it's really fucking things up nonstop from years now. We won't have another golden age like mid 80's to '04.
I'd make it '05. I like the Infinite Crisis era.
DCs continuity is so fucky that it has no continuity.
It’s not really that fucked up
It used to have. I miss the times when they at least TRIED to make sense of their continuity. Now they fucked up so much they don't even care to make the effort.
Man post crisis was fucking comicsKINO
I don't envy people who started to read DC recently. I really grew up in the best era of DC.
A better Rogues Gallery would help, preferably one with less evil martians.
You can't explain shit like Jon having being born after the Death of Superman and being 10 years old but Tim and Conner who appeared around the same time remaining teenagers. Everything is fucked to the core.
At this point they need to go full silverage shit
>justice league superheroes are on prime earth
>batman, superman, and wonderwoman series are all on earth 2
>action and detective and everything else is on earth 3
>black label and young animal are on earths 4 and 5
>new gods has it's own universe like sandman did (or still does?)
>jon born after death of superman
Is rebirth canon to pre flashpoint? Like, could you read death of superman and then pick up at the start of DC rebirth action comics and not miss anything?
All of those things happen following a reboot.
Yes, but they don't make sense when you try to explain it in a timeline. So it's impossible to make one.
Post-Reborn Superman incorporated almost the entire Pre-Flashpoint canon.
>Bendis turns him into a hateful scumbag
>Snyder fucking killed him and let Luther inhabit his corpse
Why does J’ohn must suffer so much?
>One GL
>Supergirl is an ayylmao taking the shape of the dead supergirl
>No multiverse adventures or crossovers
Yeah, that’s a yikes from me bud.
Youre clearly superior to them, since you only came in here to go off topic too.
>No multiverse adventures or crossovers
That is a good thing.
>No fun allows
Fuck off Didio.
>multiverse adventures or crossovers
>fun
I don't want to read fourty years of comics to understand the current story. Crossovers and Multiverse stuff can be fun, but DC is just alienating potential readers with it.
So now that most of Bendis’ books have flopped horribly, do you think that DC will drop his pathetic fucking ass?
I mean Young Justice has pretty much crossed the cancellation line last month and his Superman and AC have sales lower that what Jurgen and Tomasi did after 50 issues.
It took Marvel well past the reasonable point to get rid of him. He'll flop a few more, then his OCs will be shelved forever, just like Marvel.
I like this Lantern. They appear to have a real explosive personality. Where can I find more of them?
The problem is that it's "kinda good" insofar as it is significantly better than expected. If we scrutinize the first season, it becomes obvious that it was a mess; the writing was directionless at best and atrocious at worst, the costume design and CGI (in this context, an absolutely essential element) was horrid, and more type was spent introducing and examining side characters than the main ensemble. S1 was really mediocre overall. Sure, it wasn't trash and the acting - for what it's worth - was good, but the story is directionless.
I found it to be interesting, and I actually like the show. That being said, I like the show because I like the Titans
I want to believe, but I'm not very hopeful right now, I don't know how the comics business works or if Bendis' contract with DC even allows him to be fired.
>can't find a free link
Thanks for the name, that will help at least.
I love Volk even before this recent redesign. But he's appeared a lot in the GL Corps books.
Are you the same brainlet that kept autistically screeching in the last GL storytime thread? Because I’m an absolute newfag that only read Johns’ run but I still understand the reintroduction of old lore.
That’s because there’s no single timeline
I don’t think Marvel has a single timeline either.
The multiverse plays a part
The whole constant crisis really fucks with even explaining or making a cohesive timeline out of a character. Take for instance Donna, how many goddamn version of her did we have?
Try the usual channels. I like deluge. It's pretty user friendly too
The guy who wrote the MKX comic was hired by NRS to write Injustice 2 and MK11's story modes.
He said he had plans for more comics, which would've continued from the end of the X book, following Daegon teaming up with Goro, but DC/WB has no interest in another tie-in book for some reason even though the MKX one was successful.
Thanks user, is it only available on amazon?
>SHAZAM! yet to be taken off the schedule to give the creative team more time
>editors more retarded than ever
So no foreseeable future date on the next ish, eh? Christ.
Bump
>Not mentioning Robinson’s Starman
Come on now.
Is anyone planning to hatewatch Harley Quinn? I can't see myself enduring more than an ep.
What’s the best way to read the entirety of the Legion of Super heroes and the old superbly comics? I can’t read them on a pc monitor, I need paper
There's 2 Silver Age LoSH omnibi that go from the beginning to the middle part of Shooter's run, 3 or 4 Levitz LoSH HCs and a handful of trades collecting various parts of his and Giffen's run. I don't think there's any strictly Superboy collections out there
Would you mind sharing the name with an europoor?
Fucking this. I need to prepare my mind before reading Bendis’ garbage take on the LoSH.
Both fucking sucks so it doesn’t matter.
Hopefully when Morrison finally retires DC won’t die before that. I want my Multiversity 2 damnit!
But user, almost all of Snyder’s writing career has been napkin scribbles
He said Green Lantern is his last mainstream superhero work
So will he finish Seaguy or not? That’s all I want to know really.
I like this GL, mostly cuz his dialogue is so out of place in combat, I'm assuming he dies tho
I'm actually about to read the invasion event after I finish what I'm currently reading. Favorite alien race is probably Martians cuz I'm a J'onn fag
Oddly enough they did decide to name themselves DC after Dectetive Comics. Bates is great. His Flash and Justice League were personal highlights for me.
Is this actual cannon?
The dude’s brother was also a prince that got to become a GL as well. He really doesn’t want to participate in his brother’s job even though he has enough will power to do it.
Most of that are canon yes. The Guardians are just that big of assholes.
I love Invasion not only because of the huge scale but also how it led up to Morrison’s Doom Patrol with the gene bomb.
I fucking love the goofy as shit alien GL's
Superman's had at least 6 movies, 7 if you count Mole Men. Snyder just poisoned the brand so it'll be a couple years before the next one
>they can explain what he's been doing all these years since he died
.....doesnt being dead kind of explain it?
>stop liking what I don't like
Batman and robin Eternal, she's not the main focus but she shows up throughout
I'd watch that
Nu52 fucked with that and had him turned into a god or some shit that hangs out with the Phantom Stranger and Pandora (the bitch the Manhattan blew up). Also that book retcon his mask into some magic crap that erases your face and have Rene literally got her face erased.
Speaking of goofy aliens, I want B’ox to return goddamn it.
On the subject of DC books, are there any other underrated runs like Sandman Mystery Theatre? Just finished it and I want to read something similar.
The movies were a miracle for Thor, no one ever gave a shit about him before but now people compare him to Superman, friggen Superman for christ sake
That's just like your opinion man
Cool, I'll be sure to look up all the stuff he's done and begin working my way through it
not anymore, Thor has been turned into a steaming faggot after Endgame no one likes him now.
They are so Woke they are about to go Broke
I thought they turned him into a woman for the next movie or is there really no difference?
Thor loses the hammer, Jane Foster gets it. It was a comic that bombed, people assume the movie will too. Apparently Jane got the hammer before a few decades ago, and went by a different name, but now she is just calling herself Thor. It bombed so bad that Thor got the hammer back not long after. Also, the MCU Jane's actress has been bad mouthing Marvel and the MCU since her last appearance, Endgame was literally just reusing old footage of her. This is just a chance at big paycheck for her, and it will show.
Jane was Thor for 4 years, and the comics didn't bomb.
Four years isn't very long, especially for a legacy character to be milked. Marvel is still using Spider-Gwen, which is the same basic concept.
Writers bend over backwards trying to make every comic new reader friendly as possible.
she was never a replacement, not the same concept
He’s an established writer.
They’re not going to care about the opinions of a few nerds when it comes to his career
It's a shame about YJ, that is probably the first good thing Bendis has written in a long time.
Honestly I think Cavill has been my favorite Superman yet, and I agree that all the muscle fits Superman quite well. I would love nothing more than to see him in a good superman movie
Superman is close to 40 now same as Bruce.
So 10 years ago a 30 year old Superman can definitely have done DoS
Connor just doesn't age, and Tim is college age which is fine
I appreciate when they take the time to actually show friends being friends, instead of just saying it
Cute
Thank you, user, I'm not well versed on DC stuff, just getting into it.
But the sales does matter though. Most of his books are now in the shitter. It’s not about opinion but more about the profitability of his writing which is dwindling by the day.
That 76 one will always be DC to me.
super hero girls? yeah!
There a reason why SG hair is so short in this? She looks more like Peej t b h.
Same. The bullet is so economical, effective and iconic. It still looks fresh years later too.
Talking about logos, what's everyones favorite era? I'm not even sure of the full breakdown of that. I know there are ages and all that.
How profitable does the Super hero girls line? Never got into them but I heard it makes DC a fortune in merchandising.
For me it’s a toss up between the mid 80s or the early 2000s. O’Neil books and 52 made those era my favorite no matter what.
>Thor
Who?
1976>>>>>who gives a shit
This is just sad Based Marvel is announcing all this cool shit and you losers are here like "well DC still exists I guess"
Hey, ladderfag. Still being your needy self I see.
Back again already? Find better material to bait dude.
Bumping the thread with some RHaTO previews.
Wish Rocafort would be drawing more often. Love his art.
I don't care that much about live-action stuff to be honest.
Ladderfag got repeatedly banned and he always comes back. Just ignore him.
Bump
All that translates to into whether his current books are cancelled. I doubt that would have any factor on them firing him outright
>Books don’t sell even in trades
>Fan backlash (even fucking reddit and twatter shat on it)
>Entire line of books he headed crashed and burned
It’s either pushing him to the sidelines or canceling his exclusive contract at this point.
Neither of which mean firing him wholesale.
>>Entire line of books he headed crashed and burned
Didn't Wonder Twins and Dial H for Hero do pretty good? They did get extended from only 6 issues to 12 after all.
I really do not know about how Naomi and Young Justice did tho.
>Didn't Wonder Twins and Dial H for Hero do pretty good?
They are great but their sales are wholly terrible.
63 - YOUNG JUSTICE (Wonder Comics) ($3.99)
01/2019: Young Justice #1 -- 73,952 (+974,2%) [76,654]
02/2019: Young Justice #2 -- 37,081 (- 51.6%)
03/2019: Young Justice #3 -- 33,683 (- 9.2%)
04/2019: Young Justice #4 -- 31,319 (- 7.0%)
05/2019: Young Justice #5 -- 29,821 (- 4.8%)
06/2019: Young Justice #6 -- 28,182 (- 5.5%)
07/2019: Young Justice #7 -- 26,777
the ever increasing woke scale.
Opinion of DCeased? I can always go for more zombies in my life.
I can believe they were simply extended because of the good response rather than the sales.
Oh wow, I wonder if this will get any lower.
>Wonder Twins and Dial H are by competent writers, are therefore very fun books and getting great critical reception, but bad sales because they aren't A list titles. Part of Bendis' "line" but not actually touched by him.
> Superman, Action Comics, and Batman are by Bendis and King and are therefore terrible and are full of controversy from fans but maintain average though sometimes declining sales because of their A list status.
Fucking bullshit dude
Meant to follow that up with more actually, I really hope Wonder Twins and Dial H get to keep going based on their quality but yeah it's a huge surprise to see
Tommy pls
That first issue was soooo criminally putrid. I gave it 2 more issues out of pitiful nostalgia. No surprise on that nosedive.
Bretty solid so far. Found quite a few moments that hit sharply to my surprise.
I just can’t endure more of Bendis’ dogshit the moment he started to butcher Amethyst and Gem World. Fucking cunt why can’t he just leave good things alone?
Not that bad actually. I was expecting it to be way worse.
More like increasing scale of mental retardation but you’re right.
before the thread dies can you boys tell me which ongoings are worth a read?
coming back from a comic break
Just read these.
Avoid every that’s even remotely related to King, Snyder or Bendis and you’re golden.
>Bendis
obviously
snyder though?
>rocafort art
guess i'm reading that one
Snyder is kind of similar to Bendis in that he can write a small one off story but when given long runs he tends to shit the bed. Most of his “runs” are just shitty cheap rehashes of Morrison’s much better works.
That’s also the reason I stuck with Nu52 RHaTO and Teen Titans. Even when the writing was dogshit, Rocafort’s art somewhat made them palatable.
Next reebot when?
Marvel has kept black spiderman around, he just got an animated movie and is playable in the base roster of MUA3. I bet one of Bendy's DC OC's stick around long after he leaves and my money is on Naomi
>being a bib wearing, drooling mongoloid
I watch the shit out of it, I'll put up with Harls if it means I get a DC villain centric cartoon. I have a huge soft spot for DC villains so I'm really hoping she doesnt have to be in every single scene
Good stuff
I've never even heard of B'ox before. He seems grand tho
But Naomi isn’t stuck with the name of the most famous character DC has like Miles with Peter. Her issue with Supes was the worst selling issue yet. The only mildly good OC Bendis made in DC was the invisible mafia and with Superman movie being box office poison, they won’t get adapted soon.
I'm the same actually, just started this year. I've been hoping back and forth reading whatever catches my interest but it feels like I've barely scratched the surface
I love how Morrison is able to make shit loads of new GLs now.
Beefy tomboy supergirl is bae
My favorite is 2005 its exciting while still being very clean and simple
I'd say its pretty profitable, it's not all that old but it's already got like 6 animated movies, which is wild when you consider flash has 1 and GL has 2 and as you mentioned an endless stream of merch
Really like how wild the designs are for these kids. Wonder if any will stick around
If you want a comprehensive series that touches every part of the universe you should really have a look at 52.
A book that somehow with any A-listers but still the best series DC has in recent years.
The biggest problem with Rocafort is that his characters are just so fucking detailed that it would look like shit when anybody else draws them. So like Bunker they’ll use here and there but never rose to prominence.
Also one of them is literally a toddler that psychically controlling her mother’s corpse.
you should check out his twitter he posts fucking amazing art almost every day
it's criminally underrated
I like DC. BUT they need to do a lot better job of reprinting their old stuff.
Finish their omnibus lines, or re-release their old classics, like Alan Moore's run on Swamp Thing.
His art is a breath of fresh air
Wasnt Naomi well received? It got story timed here and honestly I enjoyed it.... cant remember the last time I enjoyed something Bendy did
Unrelated to the actual quality of the book but can we take a moment to appreciate that name? I wasnt interested in a zombie thing that was unrelated to Blackest Night or the Black Lanterns in general but that name won me over almost immediately
I'll have to start picking up Dial H. I'm Impressed it came back at all
Feels like something the Guardians would have you throne into a sciencell for
Neat. Looks like a smoky, liquid version of Alan’s armor from Kingdom Come.
It’s exactly the kind of shit Evil Star and Blackhand do. Bendis has a hilarious habit of just portraying his “heroes” doing absolute horrid shit and expect them to get showered with praise for it.
They should just turn her into a villain. Would be a lot more interesting that way.
Was it? I don't know, I just kinda read a couple of issues and didn't like it.
I fucking hate how she doesn't even have like a real hero name, she's just "Naomi".
Friendly reminder
>you have to like my legacy character because I made the og version like them
so tired of this shit
It is an excellent hook in of it self. Personally, I'm still hooked and I'm eager to see how it will end.
??? Is this new lantern tied to Mogo in any way
Sounds grand, I'll start on it after I finish reading the comic I'm currently working through
Babe in arms seems really interesting and I can she what the issue with overly complicated character designs would be but I still think is fantastic
Easiest way to win over an audiance, seems almost underhanded honestly
Just wait till the other Earth Lanterns and the Guardians meet her so they can all personally congratulate and reward her.
Fucking what? Where the fuck did Alan come from ?
They went to the Kingdom Come universe
It's the opposite at my local store, but DC has seriously dropped the ball in their trade department over the last few years.
The last year specifically was rough because AT&T bought WB, and started gutting departments. They lost a few key people, and probably a couple underlings who weren't mentioned in the firings posts.
Over all, the last two years of the bookscan numbers have shown massive losses. They got complacent in printing evergreen titles, but eventually people buy those, and have nothing to replace them with later on.
It's just going to get worse for the next while. Didio's grand idea is renumber the new trades back to #1 (which does make some sense, because writer's changed and because there is serious attrition for trades as the volume numbers get bigger), and to release them as Hardcover's first.
G Willow Wilson has been on wonder woman for ten months now, has now announced that she's quit, and her first trade isn't even out yet. Didio planned it to be a hardcover with ten issues, then changed his mind to be softcover, and finally a six issue hardcover now.
That pattern's going to keep repeating. Use HC's to maximize profit (see Moz TGL too), and try to keep AT&T from stopping physical print media
comixology.com
It was a one-shot that got reprinted as a 100-page giant a few years ago. That is the digital copy, but does not have the original cover
>are just so fucking detailed that it would look like shit when anybody else draws them
This is just one of the many problems with the LoSH redesigns.
Almost all of them are too complicated (and busy) for regular artists to do.
And Sook is guaranteed to fuck off before six issues are up
Gave up on everything DC but Green Lantern a long time ago. Is there anything worth a shit going on right now?
How’s the current MM book?
it's not bad. A little decompressed, but does seem like a passion project for Orlando.
It has nothing to do with current continuity, and Snyder has already given a conflicting MM backstory, so treat it as an elseworld
>a toddler that psychically controlling her mother’s corpse
That's messed up
Thanks!
I thinknits kinda cool, but yeah it's on the darker side no doubt
There was a dude in the last pre-new52 Freedom Fighters series that was literally powered by dead babies trapped in hell
I'm mixed on it. Harley has become a bit overexposed. I always found her best in small doses and bouncing off someone else, which the show will have going on somewhat I suppose. Some of the in article descriptions of the show have made me groan, but they can often play up the woke shit more than is actually shown, so we'll see. It may not be as bludgeon you over the head as so much other shit is these days. I hope it's decent and funny and doesn't take issues too seriously. I'm beyond delighted Bader is back as Batman as he did a fantastic job on BATB and really kind of works that straight, yet subtly comedic Bats to perfection. Speaking of BATB, if it's a raunchier villain version of that then that could be cool and fresh.
