The other gems would also probably keep an eye on a weird alien hanging out with Steven and WHILE Zim would be able to fool the habitants of Beach City (because they are almost as retarded as Zim's humans), Steven, his dad, the the gems and Connie would notice when Zim starts braging about how he is going to conquer and kill them after meeting each other for 5 minutes.

What WOULD be funny is Zim and the Gems interacting. He would think that they are humans and act like humans - the gems on the other side might be unsure if he is a gem-thing, a really weird human or an alien.

So you would get a scene where both go "How are you going, my fellow humans??"

Boring is the last word I'd used to describe Peridot, though you're kinda right about Giorno.

People forget the black comedy aspect of Invader Zim and think it'll just be Steven and Zim doing Teen Titans Go bullshit. Zim wouldn't be able to hurt the gems/Steven because of Plot Armor but he sure as hell could hurt and possibly kill the townies. Think about it.

If Zim was serious he wouldn't kill Steven, he'd revert him into a baby using Gir's Orb of Stupidity powers like he did against the baby looking aliens. That or assimilate/co-opt Gem Tech and just do Enter the Florpus 2.0 bullshit. Imagine the body horror Zim could do by creating artificial Stevens via cloning, kidnapping townies to infuse with Gem Injector stuff, or straight up finding Gem Shards and Frankensteining them into a irken tech zombie. Sure he wouldn't win because Steven has more plot armor than Dib and Gaz combined but he can make every victory bittersweet by having Steven cry rivers just to revive/heal all the damage Zim does everyday.

Where's this idea of Steven being a coward come from? Ever since Jasper appeared he's tackled threats head-on eventually stood up to the Diamonds themselves. If the movie trailer is anything to go by the moment Zim even touched a townie Steven would punt him into space (with or without bubble, choice is yours)

Ahah yes, this is exactly how it go down. Zim would fuck everyone up badly, hell even his dumb plans are still fucked up and evil, he wanted to inject cows with actual shit in hopes that people would get a disease and conquer earth while the people suffer in pain. Hell he made people see a terrible future just so he'd make them think buying his chocolate would stop it. He's down right evil even if he's stupid.

Zim disguises as a doughnut shop worker and ends up killing Lars. The Gems and Stephen try to get Zim to talk about his feelings of hatred, which makes Zim make a giant gem fusion. Then the Gems fuse and have an epic fight before Zim’s fusion not blows up and sends him into the ocean to burn and die. Zim comes back the next episode like nothing happens. Rinse and repeat.

While I think the gems outsmart and perform him in general competence, he has a fair chance to just keep going given that Steven is a retard who will insist there is good in him.
If his fucked upness is unfiltered by the show he'd also pose a much bigger threat than most antagonists in the SU universe.
His shenanigans and plans have shown multiple times to be unproductive for the mission overall, but extremely terrifying and effective in different ways.

An example of that would be that Zim gets really fascinated how the gems can pull out weapons out of their body attached gems. He adds a dispenser of similar power to gir, but fills it with turkeys. At first it seems harmless but soon the entire city and the gems are buried in turkeys. Then Zim screams something like "bow before my MEEEEAAAAT".

Rewatching the show I noticed that this is pretty much an overblown statement.
Zim gets fucked by himself, Gir or just sheer coincidence more than by Dib.
It's surprising how many times Dib actually loses, especially in earlier episodes

The people who make these threads have never actually watched Steven Universe and just make up a strawman. Like just because Steven doesn't like fighting doesn't mean he's afraid of it.

But the Gems are probably more incompetent than Zim is. Pearl was taken out by ketchup.

Steven never fights physically by himself. Any physical violence only happens when he orders a CG to do it or he's in a fusion. So he's not adverse to "fighting" as long as he gets someone else to do it for him. He can have strength rivaling that of Superman but he'll never use it against someone unless he's Stevonnie, Smoky Quartz, Sunstone, etc because he needs someone else to fight his battles physically. Even Steven's "NO U" was only possible by Pink Steven doing a sonic REEEE rather than Steven actually doing any physical fighting himself.

Secondly Steven would be applying emotions that don't really exist in Zim with his saccharine songs and crying. His stuff works on gems because he's a Diamond/God to them rather than any merit of good or evil. Steven isn't his Tallest nor the son of the current tallest so he isn't guilted by familial nepotism to listen/change his mind.

Steven is the anti-Dib not because of him being a crybaby but because the show tries to pamper Steven every time it can. No one believes in Dib but everyone is forced to believe in Steven. However since SU humans are even dumber and more apathetic to aliens because of Steven & the CGs, Zim walks all over them. Steven can't replace Dib because to do so, Steven would have to lose and be abused constantly without getting his happy ending. If anything since Rebecca is a hack anyway, she'd just make Ronaldo the new Dib and PeeDee his Gaz. If anything Steven would be the one telling the Townies/Gems to not touch Zim he blubbers through another song and Gir runs around setting people on fire.
