Sony made the right call

Sony made the right call.

Adjusted for inflation, and not a SINGLE MCU movie has made as much as there Spider-Man trilogy, AND Disney wants more money?

Fuck em’

Every Spider-Man movie they made made more than MCUman.

Plus, they own all the material they’d need for there own movie universe. The MCU/Mouse is just a burden with no benefits.

I mean you're clearly being sarcastic with this post but I can't not point out that they already tried and it fell on its face hard. Like, twice, if you count Venom

>Adjusted for inflation, and not a SINGLE MCU movie has made as much as there Spider-Man trilogy
Inflationfaggot, none of the trilogy movies made a billion, FFH made a billion, no one gives a shit if the trilogy's equal a billion in today's day and age, they failed in their own time

>Adjusted for inflation, and not a SINGLE MCU movie has made as much as there Spider-Man trilogy
But that's false.

>Snoy faggots literally have to make up facts to justify their stupidity
oh nononnononono hahahahahahahahahahahahahahah

You forget how incredibly stupid Sony executives are. Amy Pascal is still involved. They’ll burn it down like so much kindling and won’t have even embers to warm them, only ashes.

>Inflationfaggot, none of the trilogy movies made a billion, FFH made a billion, no one gives a shit if the trilogy's equal a billion in today's day and age, they failed in their own time
Thats not how fucking money works you dumb retard.

>Adjusted for inflation no single movie has made more than 3 movies
Huh?

user I agree with you on principle but don't make us look bad by blatantly lying.

Attached: 1564337273314.jpg (853x552, 73K)

Inflation changes the value of money, not the physical currency the film earned when it was released.

The Raimi movies never touched $1b

It changes the value of money which means as the dollar goes down, ticket prices go up, you fucking moron.

He's correct if he means individually, Spider-Man 1 and 3 are still, adjusted, the highest grossing films.

Spider-Man 2 im not sure about, might be above FFH still.

Stop being stupid

no buddy it literally just means the value of a dollar decreased ticket prices(ticket prices did increase but thats because of different thing like cameras are more expensive or the movie is popular or its and expensive theater) didnt go up the value of money just went down the price for the ticket is the same you just need more money to reach that value ( its confusing because inflation isn't a way of measuring the price of things like OP insinuated its to measure the value of money)

You re immeasurably stupid and need to take an economics class.

>Inflationfaggot
You mean, regular people? Money is worth less now that it was back then. That's fact. That's why music, video games and even comics go by numbers, not dollars. This is just a simple trick to make it seem like newer movies are constantly performing better.

Take an accounting class. You always pick the large sum earlier over the larger sum years later. That's why savings bonds exist. The government is able to do more with the money you give them, then the money you eventually cash out on.

explain to me how ecomics work then fuck head doint fuking tlak tough ofer the inetnert you fucking pciece of shit I ll chew you're dick to hell fjjck head

Attached: EB5KDvHX4AEqUoe.jpg (719x724, 47K)

But he said MCU movie. Adjusted for inflation no Sony movie comes close to Endgame

Inflation is the means by which we discuss and measure the BUYING POWER of the dollar, you dumb fuck. The reason tickets are getting more expensive, the reason why ANYTHING gets more expensive, is because of the constant march towards entropic declination of the value of currency. Comics didnt use to cost 50 cents because they were cheaper to make (they were to an extent but thats besides the point), they cost 50 cents because the buying power of 50 cents would be over $5 today.

Money is not magic, it has no set value, the value of currency is what we give it in exchange for goods and services, they're tangible/identifiable contracts for trades between individual.

The entire fucking reason foreign exchange trading exists is due to the fact that currency shifts in value over time.

He was clearly referring to the Spider-Man films you pedantic retard.

>the value of currency is what we give it in exchange for goods and services,
the value of the currency is how ,,much we buy gold with it

How old are you?

Whatever, unadjusted FFH is literally their number 1 movie of all time.

>unadjusted

Which means fucking nothing, dipshit. How old are you that you know this little about basic economics?

i'm 23 and I've been taking a major interest in economics since I was 12. Now I have a question for you give me some insight on the evolution of the market economies in the southern colonies

>i'm 23
No you're not
> I've been taking a major interest in economics since I was 12
No you havent.
>Now I have a question for you give me some insight on the evolution of the market economies in the southern colonies
I can tell you're looking at wikipedia right now.

Stop spying on the underage user you creep

Inflation seems like a meme to me when it comes to BO.
>This movie would have made this much if it came out today instead
But that money doesn't exist anymore because Sony spent it all all on making their flops like ghostbusters and MIB

>I can tell you're looking at wikipedia right now.
Just what I thought let me tell you my opinion on it If I had to describe the southern colonies it be as egregiously pre capitalist and doomed to fail if the revolutionary war had been delayed for about 10 years methinks the southern colonies would have had no choice but to give in to the demands of the north

Fuck off, Henry Turtledove, no one cares about your Secessionist fanfiction.

And you fuck off too, underageB&, no one cares about how well you think you did on the AP tests.

Look at this pathetic faggot acting like he knows shit about economy. If it wasn't for shitposting about the MCU, you wouldn't even know what inflation is. Clown.

At least now we won't have to worry about fucktards shilling Norman Osborn as the new Big Bad of the MCU.

>I can tell you're looking at wikipedia right now.
lol

>>But that money doesn't exist anymore because Sony spent it all all on making their flops like ghostbusters and MIB
Literally what does this have to do with the concept of inflation and currency value?

>MCUcks actually believe Iron Lad is bigger than Spider-Man was in 2002

Wow not that I think it'd alter your responses but the speed of which an individual resorts to insults indicative of lower IQ.

which one made a billion dollars I'll let the genius do the math

Spider-Man 1, 2, and 3 adjusted for inflation.

>Wow not that I think it'd alter your responses but the speed of which an individual resorts to insults indicative of lower IQ.
You wanna know how i know you're in middle school?

now adjust spiderman far from home for inflation and we'll see who's who in the dark

wanna know how I know you can't match me in a battle of wits

Attached: 47454214125698 gun edit.jpg (750x747, 322K)

A high IQ and $1.25 will buy you a Coke. History is replete with failed geniuses. Don't be so quick to count yourself among them just for the sake of sounding big in an online argument.

>Disneyshill has no idea what it's talking about
Figures

Nigga it came out a month ago what the fuck do you mean adjust it for inflation?

Attached: tenor (5).gif (194x228, 809K)

yeah really need to heavily adjust for inflation for a movie that came out in 2014
biggest brain

let's wait a month until the tariff goes into affect and then we'll see who made the big money

That...

user thats not how inflation or money work.

Attached: tenor (3).gif (240x266, 3.86M)

even adjusted for inflation, the first Spider-Man only barely squeaks ahead of FFH

So it still did better

only by like $40 million, and FFH beats both 2 and 3

So it did better.

>ONLY $40 million

I'll just ask for that $40 million since it's such a negligible amount.

>1.25
>Coke
Not in a fucking bottle you heathen.

Adjusted for inflation and exchange rates on each country, Spider-Man made over 1.3b

I gotta come clean the only thing I know about history or economics is the bar scene in good will hunting I've made a whole career on 3 minutes of a movie I've never scene I'm gonna die broke

Well... the tariffs are already affecting some box office movies but in china. We'll have to wait a few months to see how fucked hollywood is when it comes to foreign revenue.

>Adjusted for inflation, and not a SINGLE MCU movie has made as much as there Spider-Man trilogy

That's right. But those movies also cost a ton more than the MCU movies.

Marvel makes so many of them they can keep costs down.

Just what we need, another capeshit universe.
And here when I thought things were getting fine with Fox's demise and DC moving away, thinking the MCU was the last.

The MCU Spider-Man movies dont have nearly the kind of pop culture impact that the Raimiman movies did.

Merch as a result isnt nearly as lucrative, which is a big source of auxillary income for these movies.

>methinks

LMAO

Thats how much they cost when I was in high school.

I'd adjust for inflation if I wanted to piss off the thread even more.

FFH is close though right? What're the inflation totals for the raimi movies? Because I thought that BP topped it

Why did spider-man 2 make the least amount of money in the trilogy? Its the best one

ALl of the cultural impact the raimiman movies had is negative. It's a joke in retrospect. No seriously.

Lastly, macguire was horrible as spidey, dunsty was a bitch on stilts as mj, and none of the other characters were likeable or worth watching.
There's like JJJ as the only entertaining being in the entire movie
Hell the only person that was half decent to peter parker was the black editor dude. And tha't sit.
May was a bitch, MJ was a bigger bitch, I have no idea how harry is considered is fucking friend.
It's just all awful.

It's 2.10 when you do it.

>ALl of the cultural impact the raimiman movies had is negative. It's a joke in retrospect. No seriously.
How old are you that you sincerely believe something this retarded and objectively, factually incorrect?

Attached: rw93e8gf79111.png (1000x1000, 280K)

Explain how it's the best one.
It's fucking terrible.

What constitutes a "good movie" to the likes of you?

Attached: [palpable disgust].png (337x334, 172K)

>The MCU/Mouse is just a burden with no benefits

except the lack of Spidey fatigue

if a Raimi Spider-Man film came out today it would bomb and be considered shit by everyone including here, and Garfield Spider-Man isn't even worth bringing up. this is the unbiased truth. if you want a good Spider-Man read a comic or play the game you Yea Forumsfags have insufferably shit tastes.

Attached: gobby.jpg (1920x1040, 235K)

>if a Raimi Spider-Man film came out today it would bomb and be considered shit by everyone including here,
Why the fuck do you retards say this as if a good movie being old somehow makes it not a good movie?

What fucking cultural impact did it have outside of being a spiderman movie?

Good story, character motivations that make sense, likeable lead character, likeable antagonists, good music, good direction. You know. little shit like that.
Okay, I'm being a dick, the direction was good.
The everything else was awful though.

Y'all do know he's literally quoting Good Will Hunting at you, right?

user, it was considered good because no one thought spiderman could be done. But it was.

If it had comic movie contemporaries like today it would be ravaged by critics and movie goers.

what the fuck are you talking about
if it came out today you would call it shit, but because it came out almost 20 years ago you're nostalgic about it. so transparent.

>>What fucking cultural impact did it have outside of being a spiderman movie?
Are... Are you fucking for real?

Legitimately how old are you? Are you 10?

Post it.
No seriously.
What impact did the spiderman movies have.
It doesn't even have funny maymays outside of upside down kiss and MJ nipples.

Why are you samefagging?

Spider-man 1 showed that movies could be colorful and goofy while still appealing to both audiences and critics, Blade showed the Marvel could have financially viable movies X-men showed that you could make them appeal internationally and spider-man showed you didn't have to drape everyone in leather

>>Post it.
>No seriously.
>What impact did the spiderman movies have.
>It doesn't even have funny maymays outside of upside down kiss and MJ nipples.
user.

Do you know why the MCU exists?

Do you know why we've had 20 years of superhero movies?

Why do you think it is that we've had superhero movies for the past two decades?

>Post it.
Clarify what your minimum threshold of acceptable evidence is.

here
They're not perfect movies but its not wrong to say the the spider-man movies bridged the gap from old school superhero movies to what we see today in them. I'm not going to say it was some sort of massive cultural landmark like star wars or the godfather but to say that the raimi movies aren't a big part of why superhero movies have the cultural power they do today would be false

>two people almost agreed therefore must be samefag!
no
it seems arrogant to me that you would assume you're important enough to merit that

Attached: 156634389837649565.png (418x111, 3K)

I agree entirely with the movies being shitty and an awful adaptation but you're high if you think the majority of people did not enjoy those movies and it didn't have this huge cultural impact on media and the industry.

You guys mind if copy all of this dialogue to put in my ....."web "comic.
I think this is legit gold

Faggot those posts are literally exactly one minute apart down to the fucking second, dont try to fool me with your inspect element baby bitchmode toddler shit like im some kind of retard.

If anything, this controversy just showed me what the general audience think of Spider-Man. If this is what people took away from Marvel's 80+ years of content, then I don't blame them for going apeshit

Attached: Screenshot_20190820-182800_1.png (1080x1086, 227K)

i literally posted the (You) you newfag
>You clearly photoshopped it!
get me off this board

is still the unbiased truth

>>>You clearly photoshopped it!
I said inspect element you fucking moron nice slip-up.

Stop acting like you werent blatantly samefagging, you understand that theres an IP counter and 4chanX logs when a new IP posts right?

What do you think of the tim burton batman movies? or the donner superman? Are those bad because they're old?

I hope someone corrected that jackass

If you really want to prove something use those browser editors detectors.

>mfw reading this after my friends literally WE WUZ'd the MCU with Blade
I literally saw all of the Raimi films growing up, and I still believed them.
I bet Blade sucks dick. Gotta watch it later.

i don't even know what you're talking about inspect element
feel free to think whatever you want you jittery faggot, if posting the (You) isn't still unbiased truth

Attached: Screenshot (488).png (1366x768, 157K)

The first two blades still hold up they've aged a bit though considering a bulk of its "cool-itude" is so wrapped up in 90s flavor, as opposed to the raimi movies timeless feel

>i don't even know what you're talking about inspect element
Why are you trying this hard, this poorly to convince me of a lie i've already seen through?

>Adjusted for inflation
You know the population has increased since then, right?

>>You know the population has increased since then, right?
What in the god damn fuck does this have to do with inflation?

Attached: cnfs.gif (360x230, 2.81M)

You do realize how markedly different superheros would today be if Raimi didn't embrace the colorful nature of the source material. Literally we don't know how well it would work today because the landscape of block busters would be completely different

is taking a screenshot really trying hard i must be a fucking badass to edit it the same time i post it, i included the time for a reason
how about you try replying to my actual post

user....comic movies are only a thing today because of Blade.
And Norton Incredible Hulk is far more influential then Raimi Spiderman.

>What fucking cultural impact did it have outside of being a spiderman movie?
Besides being one of the first really successful cape movies about one of the top 3 most popular super heroes before the mcu? Nothing obviously.

>is taking a screenshot really trying hard i must be a fucking badass to edit it the same time i post it, i included the time for a reason
Everyone on this fucking website knows how to use inspect element you idiot, stop acting like you're a genius

>how about you try replying to my actual post
Reply to what? You're blatantly wrong and your hypothetical is pure conjecture. Theres nothing to argue, you're an idiot.

Are you that same fucking faggot from Yea Forums who was arguing that Modern Warfare was more influential than Doom?

Nigga stop obsessing with this guys and answer the other questions presented

Caveman tier post

>Comic book movies are only a thing because of blade

What are you smoking? Blade was a modest success, yes its a solid movie but the superman and batman movies that came before it are why "comic book movies are made" and I liked the norton hulk but it couldn't even influence itself into getting a sequel

Fucking loved this exchange. Thanks for giving me so much, Yea Forums.
(bottom to top)

guaranteed no we don't, i've used it to get video links before but no clue what you'd do to delete a (You) what's the point the best I could do is cover it with mspaint. I doubt you even know what you're talking about.

and you calling it blatantly wrong doesn't make it untrue. do you honestly believe a Raimi film would do well in the current year?

>guaranteed no we don't, i've used it to get video links before but no clue what you'd do to delete a (You) what's the point the best I could do is cover it with mspaint. I doubt you even know what you're talking about.

Yes, you do, stop lying.

>and you calling it blatantly wrong doesn't make it untrue. do you honestly believe a Raimi film would do well in the current year?
Yes, it would.

Disney are greedy SOBs, but I still want Sony to go completely out of business forever.

can someone actually explain why everyone is saying Sony is stupid? I actually have not idea whats going on but it sounds like Disney just wants more money and Sony doesn't want to give it to them? Is it that Sony is stupid or is it that Marvel fanboys are angry that Spider man wont be in the MCU anymore?

Yeah this is one of those moments where I feel regardless of who wins, we lose. I just want good spider-man comics bros I don't particularly care for the movies

choosing between disney and sony to make spiderman is like choosing between being stabbed or lit on fire. one is less painful than the other, but both suck.

>Adjusted for inflation, and not a SINGLE MCU movie has made as much as there Spider-Man trilogy
uh...
boxofficemojo.com/alltime/adjusted.htm
Endgame is #16, Spider-Man is #41 2 is #64, 3 is way down at #115.
You are correct that Homecoming and Far From Home are ranked lower than the Raimi trilogy (222 and 175, respectively) but Amazing is even farther down (265) and Venom isn't even on the list.

Whom? The second guy? He's right.

>Yes, you do, stop lying.
ok smart guy then how did i do it exactly, what's the process what do i do from here i want this You gone

Attached: Screenshot (491).png (1366x768, 238K)

Inflation is a meme because ticket price increases happen a lot less than the value of money changing.

> Now I have a question for you give me some insight on the evolution of the market economies in the southern colonies

Attached: maxresdefault.jpg (1280x720, 93K)

If you're trying to trick me, it isnt working, retard.

Attached: file.png (1872x539, 158K)

>user....comic movies are only a thing today because of Blade.
Not really, all Blade did was influence a lot of trenchcoat-and-guns vampire movies like Resident Evil, Underworld and the likes of those. It had barely any impact in superhero movies because by a large margin it didn't resemble anything from a comic universe.
Movies like Daredevil and Spider-Man had more of an impact.

The third guy

BlerdTerrence knows what's up

I was confused, I meant to say the third guy was right, Peter was indeed a teenager going into college from the beginning.

>I meant to say the third guy was right
No he fucking isnt.

Whoa there, cool it with the slur.
But he is though?

Attached: file.png (366x117, 17K)

>>But he is though?
He literally fucking isnt, you stupid faggot.

Spider-Man was not a teenager for "the majority of his publication", he was out of highschool by 1965.

And you don't leave high school in your 20's, my dear gentlesir. You leave at 16, making him effectively a teenager.
Check and mate.

RIP Spiderman, Sony doesn't know what they're doing.

Venom had $800 mil in revenue. I'd argue many people didn't realize it wasn't connected to the MCU and thought it was, but the point remains. Sony thinks they can do this solo thing on their own now...Venom proves it. And Carnage is the next step in that, so why not roll Holland into that universe? They still have 2 movies left to set up the transition, and Into the Spider-verse likewise sets up audience expectations about multiple Spider-Man universes and travelling betwixt them.

Attached: 1256607024969.jpg (450x600, 45K)

This.
As a matter of fact his best stuff was when he was an adult.
Hell the character's best stories happened when he was a married adult.

Not even mad.
Maybe now Don Cheadle will finally get to be Iron Man if Holland is out of the way as Iron Man Jr.

Attached: avengers-infinity-war-poster-don-cheadle-war-machine.jpg (810x1200, 206K)

>You leave at 16
You leave at 18 and Spider-Man was out of college by 1978 so no you dumb fuck he hasnt been even technically a teenager since the early 70s at absolute most.

Spider-Man 2 with Maguire, not Garfield.

well clearly this is something you've done before unsurprisingly

Tom Holland... Welcome home.

I was super confused why venom did so well in china, they would have no connection to the character

Damn right they did
>At 50% they could've made a movie that is half as successful and still made more
>They were getting 0% for all the non-Spider-man film cameos (like Civil and Infinity War)
>They've had success with the property before, even recently with Spider-Verse and Venom
>If they split it, Disney could lawyer their way into claiming that they own it and are the only ones doing anything with the property, before bruteforce owning it.
>Even though video games weren't part of the deal, Spider-man Ps4 is the most successful Ps4 game, and they'd be SOL if Disney took the property over time.
Sony made the right call.

You're a retard or a toddler if you dont know how to use inspect element.

>You leave at 18
Maybe in the US, what the fuck.
>he hasnt been even technically a teenager since the early 70s at absolute most.
Well if we go by the Sliding Timescale, 4 years in real life amount to 1 year in comic universe, and since 178 41 years have passed, meaning that 10 years have passed in universe.
In conclusion, Spider-Man is a millennial.

Why would someone need to learn how to edit their Yea Forums posts

>>Maybe in the US, what the fuck.
YES.

IN THE US.

WHERE SPIDER-MAN IS FUCKING FROM YOU FUCKING IDIOT. HE LIVES IN NEW YORK.

NEW YORK IS IN THE UNITED STATES.

He started off but 616 Peter has been an adult for the majority of his publication

No screaming in the library, please.

>why would anyone want to know how to edit text on a web page

Attached: 2ldenj.jpg (640x845, 108K)

We never fully saw him aging as in seeing birthdays and shit but he stopped aging year to year in the early 70s, we saw him graduate high school and get his bachelors he would've stopped being a "teen" in 67 at the latest

YOU JUST KNOW

Attached: 12398032446.png (904x662, 522K)

Exactly, why
Why would this be common knowledge
I spend most of my life on the Internet and not once had to do this

How old are you, child?

Why would you want to edit someone else's posts to save face?
I know I'm answering myself but I'd assume you'd have at least a shred of dignity not to do that in an ANONYMOUS board.

Old enough to not be called a child
How about you answer the question, why would a normal person on the Internet need to know this

Based Boba Fetty Wap.

Attached: file.png (254x578, 98K)

>>How about you answer the question, why would a normal person on the Internet need to know this
If you're on this site you are not normal.

>Why would you want to edit someone else's posts
Why not?
>you'd have at least a shred of dignity not to do that in an ANONYMOUS board
Who cares?

s-samefag

So you have no dignity, got it
No, unlike that guy, I do know how to inspect element and make changes, but I don't need to do that. I'm like Superman.

Attached: file.png (348x101, 8K)

>>So you have no dignity, got it
user, i dont typically inspect element posts, but i know how to because its an incredibly easy, simple thing to do.

My point was that the one retard was trying to pretend he wasnt blatantly samefagging and clearly used inspect element to hide his shit while pretending like he pulled a fast one.

NO SPIDER-MAN. NO PROBLEM.

Who needs Peter Parker when you have these the Marvel Rising Superstars right here baby!
Carol Is a proven billion dollar character then you Ms Marvel, Doreen and America Chavez can easily save the MCU.

Attached: who needs spiderman.jpg (1821x2800, 557K)

it literally wasn't, why are you hung up on this
what do you want me to prove it wasn't if a You isn't enough anymore

You cant prove it faggot because i know you were samefagging. Why are you acting like removing the (you) is some kind of difficult thing to do? Just fucking open inspect element and edit it out, it takes like 3 seconds. Stop pretending you're smart.

Attached: SonySpider-man.png (978x445, 145K)

Enough with the samefagging, both of you. Move the fuck on!

Attached: file.png (492x207, 25K)

you're wrong though which is why
this will have a You for me
but
this does not
not that it matters

this is still the unbiased truth, you can't even hope to disagree so you're whining about irrelevant shit

Its not unbiased truth, its retarded nonsense conjecture from a samefagging retard with shit taste.

seething user can't handle the truth

here you go hope you feel like a real fucking winner here, think twice before calling someone a samefag there's literally nothing more annoying than that but thank you for at least showing me how developer tools work

Attached: _co_ - Sony made the right call. Adjusted for inflation - Comics & Cartoons - 4chan - Google Chr (960x540, 2.86M)

Spider-man did around 1Billion adjusted to inflation. Is not that impresive with a "recent" movie. Older movies like Jaws are more impresive because only in domestic marked did around 1.1 Billions.

On one hand, Disney got greedy as fuck for their offer, but on the other hand, I have no fucking faith in Sony. In to the spider verse was a flock because The Amazing Spiderman movies and Venom were fucking awful.

Look since you can't understand inflation I'll show you the ticket sales. It's the fairest comparison you're ever going to get

>Spider-Man 69,484,700
>Spider-man 2 60,158,700
>Spider-Man 3 48,914,300
>Homecoming 37,418,200
>FFH 41,844,900

MCU Spider-Man isn't as popular as Raimi's Spidey. It's that simple

You're not accounting for inflation on ticket sales either. approximately 2.5 people back then are worth 1 patron now.

Shut up foul nigger

The reason the mcu peter is still young us because tgetre doing it like the earlier asm comics where it was more serialized. After college us when you get reboots and retcon shit and one more day.
They rather let people be relieved and a sense if accomplishment If they were to ever do an adult mcu spidey

> Literally has a Spider-Person on the cover

Attached: 1564969067115.gif (342x239, 921K)

>can easily save the MCU.
>easily save the MCU
>save the MCU
>the MCU
>save
Save it from what, exactly? Being the highest grossing franchise in the history of ever?

What are you talking about? Spectre was Sony's biggest movie until now, not the Raimi or the Webb ones, and in the end MCUman managed to top that. So how is money even a factor there? And don't push inflation here, FFH had a way bigger audience than the older ones.

Attached: aVBPUw3.jpg (439x320, 23K)

This troll would've been more effective had you removed Spider-Gwen from the poster.

Depending on the details on how it really went, since we're still on the dark on that.

If Sony clamped up on negotiations after their first offer immediately, or after Disney tried raising their 5% cut even just bit, then its on Sony.
If Disney had kept on insisting 50% deal or kept the numbers close to that, then its on Disney.

>adjusted for inflation.
>ignoring the fact that more markets have opened since then, the audience for capeshit has expanded since then, and that's what counts.

Not to mention it takes way less time to reach these box office numbers than it used to back in the day, by at least two weeks less.

>Starwarsfags campaigning against anything Disney because "IM NOT SHEEPLE"
Amazing. I bet he spams that RLM quote about "consume products" too.

>I bet he spams that RLM quote about "consume products" too.
He really seems the type. The worst part is, he's still gonna go see it because they can't. Get. Away.

>FFH had a bigger audience
That's clearly not true

Despite the retardation on your post , you are kinda have something there. Since there is more people on the planet, the potential audience of any movie is higher. If Spider-man were just as popular as he was during Raimi, the numbers would be higher, not lower.

I was taking the piss obviously, but reach isn't even. You have to take into account the amount of cinemas operating back then and now, to really measure the audience beyond "tickets sold"... Because for instance, one may say that yeah, Dark Phoenix flopped because "no one wanted to see it", but objectively speaking it's not like it opened for long and it had a very limited release worldwide, so even if *somebody* wanted to, they likely wouldn't have been able to.
So ticket sales, despite being a somewhat objective measure of the audience, ultimately it doesn't account for how big the release was.

>it's not like it opened for long and it had a very limited release worldwide
Because nobody wanted to see it

That's not really how it works on distribution level, though.

I'd say its it great use of music, which inspired Spider-Man ps4's soundtrack, as well as its great use of characters. Peter was trying to just get by with the responsibilities of being Spider-Man was piling on his worklife, while the love of his life was getting engaged to someone else. Then his powers suddenly disappear and he can focus on being Peter. Only to realize how someone needs to be there whenever a scientist goes mad and threatens the public. It has a good moral of putting others before yourself.
Aunt May was a great shoulder for Peter and MJ looked to be trying to move on with her life, trying to forget about her failed romance with Peter. JJJ was great just being himself, and Harry's descent in the movie as a small part to foreshadow SM3 was done well while not getting in the way of SM2

you dumb faggot we live in the age of digital distribution

netflix alone has a gigantic footprint, not to mention direct digital copies and piracy in general

what you should be looking at is that gigantic drop from spider-man 2 to 3, which is when sony forced venom on rami. sony cannot into creative competency. it's a proven fucking fact.

>Adjusted for inflation, and not a SINGLE MCU movie has made as much as there Spider-Man trilogy

Adjusted for inflation, Far From Home is about fifty million behind the first film and has passed the other two. It's in ninth place on the list; even tossing out team films, Captain Marvel, Iron Man 3, and Black Panther also have higher box office takes than any of the Raimi films even with the latter adjusted for inflation.

So is this going to be the thing now for the next several years where people just astroturf for the sony movies because they're less popular.

C O P E

>Yea Forums is actually defending Sony and their shitty Spider-Man movies now

WHAT THE FU-

way to leave out the amazing failures you dumb faggot

> The Amazing Spider-Man 33,677,900
> The Amazing Spider-Man 2 24,363,300

sony is a garbage studio. and no this doesn't make me a mouseshill, sony is the worst in the hollywood system. universal, paramount, wb, hell lionsgate, are ALL better studios.

sony's all-time top 10 movies are, far from home at #1, FIVE other spider-man movies, men in black, skyfall, jumanji with rock/kevin hart, and the original 1984 ghostbusters. that's a terrible track record of non-spidey ip

What the fuck are you talking about? Even adjusted FFH is almost 30mil behind the first film

it's just filled with Yea Forums contrarians who want to see the MCU fail because it's the big popular thing with normies

observe:

At least those shitty Spider-Man movies treats Spidey like Spider-Man and not Iron-Boy

>it's just filled with Yea Forums contrarians who want to see the MCU fail because it's the big popular thing with normies
Yeah, this. It's typical Yea Forums behavior, they celebrate this shit and their mind is rotten with RLM-tier cynicism.

By the way, it's over.
hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/sony-fires-back-at-marvel-spider-man-movie-divorce-1233490
> In a statement obtained exclusively by The Hollywood Reporter, the studio says it is “disappointed” that Marvel president Kevin Feige will no longer act as lead producer on the film franchise, squarely laying the decision at Disney’s feet.

>“Much of today’s news about Spider-Man has mischaracterized recent discussions about Kevin Feige’s involvement in the franchise,” says a Sony spokesperson. “We are disappointed, but respect Disney’s decision not to have him continue as a lead producer of our next live action Spider-Man film.”

>The studio then says Feige, who shepherds the robust Marvel Cinematic Universe for Disney-owned Marvel, may just have too much on his plate, given that Disney recently acquired additional Marvel characters via its acquisition of 21st Century Fox.

>“We hope this might change in the future, but understand that the many new responsibilities that Disney has given him – including all their newly added Marvel properties – do not allow time for him to work on IP they do not own,” says the statement. “Kevin is terrific and we are grateful for his help and guidance and appreciate the path he has helped put us on, which we will continue.”

what do you want you dumb faggot?

for uncle ben to die AGAIN? to see another goblin reboot AGAIN? we just had a fishbowl mysterio, that was a fucking impossibility even 5 years ago with sony's shitty garfield movies

you do realize that feige was a producer on raimi's films right? he didn't want to repeat himself, he KNOWS that people still remember the raimi films and that people had positive memories of them.

he personally went to jk simmons' house to ask him to come back as JJJ, and if simmons said no, he would've retired him and not used the character, because that's how much he understands that fans only wanted JK back, he cares that fucking much. sony is complete garbage, arad and pascal are the definition of hollywood suits with 0 creative concern of their movies. the hacked emails already double-proved this

So they'll continue making the same shit they've been doing but without Feige?

So why did he give us Alex JJJones ?

They have their lead actors and they have a formula laid out for them. They took everything they could from Feige's work and they don't need him anymore at least that's what Sony believes.

Pretty much, they claim Feige "had too much on his table" which reeks of Pascal and Arad wanting to share creative input in the direction of the characters they owned, so they finally decided not to allow it anymore and severed ties. They went out of their way not to accept Disney's deal (remember, most of the profits from FFH went to Sony, it's why Disney wanted 50/50) and as much strong-arming Disney can do, Sony were set in their ways.
To me this company politics shit is an easy way to miss me, but objectively speaking both of them were in the wrong here.

because it's different. JJJ behind the desk again and saying bring me photos of spider-man has been done to death and newspapers are a dying medium. alternative media jonah is a modern update of the character

Probably for the best to keep JJJ current than have people wondering why a guy is obsessed with having the best pictures for a dying medium and paying freelance when everyone in the country has a cell phone camera capable of taking decent pictures.

Because the video game did that great but they had the time to do it with subtlety

>inflation
op you imbecile

Yes, which is why I said that Far From Home was behind that film.

Black Panther and and Iron Man 3 earned more than any of the Raimi films even adjusted for inflation while Captain Marvel is slightly behind the first film and ahead of the others. I thought Marvel was ahead of all three as well but that's not quite the case.

Most of the team films are also ahead of the Raimi trilogy as well.

I still think the Raimi suit wad the best suit. It still looks modern, while still being unmistakably, "Spider-Man."

If I'm being honest even as a kid I never liked how it looks like he's covered in steel wire, and just the lack of expression will always be a thing for me.

Fuck the fanboys and fuck disney. Disney doesn't deserve shit and the entitled fanboys who think they deserve movies where Iron Man Jr is facefucked by Reed Richards or w/e can go die in a freak gasfire

This is the most brilliant bait post of our time. At least I hope it is.

That's what the Mouse gets for trying to put their eggs into one basket.

So a question.

If Sony is required to pay Disney X amount of dollars to use Spider-man in a movie due to how ownership rights are set up doesn't that mean since Sony is walking away from the previous deal that Disney can just forbid Sony from making Spider-man movies?

>If Sony is required to pay Disney X amount of dollars to use Spider-man in a movie due to how ownership rights are set up doesn't that mean since Sony is walking away from the previous deal that Disney can just forbid Sony from making Spider-man movies?
>If
You're wrong. Sony owns the Spider-Man movie rights out right. They bought them from Marvel decades ago when Marvel was selling those kinds of rights off in order to avoid bankruptcy. This being why Fox had the FF4 and X-Men movie rights. Sony only had to pay for the rights once and now owns them essentially in perpetuity. Presumably there was some kind of "have to keep using it" clause like with FF4, but Spider-Man was such a money maker they never needed to worry about it.

The deal for Tom Holland Spider-Man being attached to the MCU was more Disney wanting Spider-Man in the MCU and Sony completely fucking up their second attempt to make an ongoing Spider-Man movie franchise so they wanted the clout of the MCU to prop up another attempt. The Sony email leaks showed just how bafflingly out of touch they were around the second Garfield Spider-Man movie. It was only the widely publicized reveal of just how retarded they were being that pushed them to agree to Disney's deal. And now it looks like Sony's getting its head up its ass again and think they can just continue doing what they planned to do years ago.

And yet they were all on-the-nose garbage.

Venom 2, Black Cat, Sinister Six, Silver Sable. , Spider-verse 2, Spider-man: Home run, Carnage. There's no stopping Sony now

Dude im 23 and im wondering how you could not know or even understand the most basic concept of inflation, i bet you think that simply saving a bunch of money in the bank will help you "retire"

So does this mean we're getting yet another Spiderman reboot by Sony? Or that we're getting Amazing Spiderman 3?

shit taste

>it looks like he's covered in steel wire
Like every Spiderman?
>just the lack of expression will always be a thing for me.
So you dislike Raimi Spiderman because the mask doesn't move like it's a cartoon. You're literally on the "I Like Shiny Things" level of retarded.

Iron Man is dead, Hulk has one arm, Widow is dead, Cap is old and Thor is fat. They have no flag ship characters anymore. Spider-Man was their go to

There's absolutely nothing they could do with Black Cat and Silver Sable that would warrant a solo movie for each (or both, even), and on top of that make it interesting. Nothing.
