Dr Stone will join the lineup next week at midnight. Lupin gets the deathslot it deserves and moves to 3:30.
Toonami is extending 30 minutes in the back so that MHA can rerun. Wouldn’t it be a riot if manages to beat other shows still?
Demon Slayer will be joining Toonami at an undetermined date this fall. It will likely replace either Super or Gundam.
Last week was pretty average, nothing standout good nor bad. This week, Genlock actually did better, only losing 42% of the audience. I can’t believe people are actually tuning in for this crap. Fire Force is also up, and trusty Lupin is back to being an abyss for viewership, fully justifying its move to 3:30. Food Wars had a nice spike, i suppose starting an episode with a 60 second close up of tits is a decent hook. And MHA finished its run strong by beating 3 shows before it. New stuff and a fresh schedule next week, we will see what that changes.
11:00 Dragon Ball Super 771 0.37 480
11:30 Gen:Lock 453 0.25 324
12:00a Fire Force 410 0.23 293
12:30a Lupin the 3rd: Part 5 333 0.19 243
1:00a Food Wars 350 0.20 252
1:30a Black Clover (r) 324 0.19 241
2:00a Boruto: Naruto Next Generations 280 0.15 198
>Toonami is extending 30 minutes in the back so that MHA can rerun. Oh God no.
Juan Carter
>Black Clover aired later The absolute state of Lupintards
Easton Rivera
I whipped up my special glaze just for that episode.
Jayden Gomez
So is Dr Stone any good? From what I have heard so far it’s been kinda dull
Sebastian Lee
>Dude Toonami is dying lmao fuck Demarco Maybe the problem isn't the schedule that doesn't have anything working, maybe it's that no one wants to watch anime at 12 at night when anime is not only complete shit and everyone already watches the sub beforehand
Luke Garcia
Nobody said the block was dying this week though, it’s actually doing better. But yea fuck Demarco
Jason Cooper
I can't believe that their extending the block for a rerun. I guess it's their way of begrudgingly acknowledging its high ratings.
It’s taking over the timeslot of Gemmu Setto which typically hits under 150k. They probably figure it can at least muster 200k as a rerun which is a net improvement
This makes sense desuFuni has been a cunt for years, all of the sudden they decide it’s time to start cutting Toonami in on Fire Force and Dr Stone when they are hot off the press? Either someone has some dirt, or they are sweating about the Vic trial results
Owen Thomas
>I like Char Then you are my enemy.
Ian Gutierrez
I don't know what that means. Please explain.
Henry Bailey
It’s another one of those “intellectual” shonen like HxH that it’s fans take a little too seriously. Pretty low action.
It’s kind of funny, it’s one of the worst performing manga in Jump, yet all these bandwagoners are acting like it’s great and they have always supported it
Levi Rogers
FUNi's on the production committee for Fire Force, just like they were for Dimension W, so I'd wager that's the reason why they're letting Toonami air that.
Dr. Stone, though, I can totally buy them handing over because they're subtly panicking about Vic finding some way to win his futile attempt at a suit.
Jackson Martinez
Maki in Fire Force and Kohaku in Dr. Stone are both gorillas.
I like food wars and I've been watching blind but I recently stumbled upon a thread about it on Yea Forums and guys,I really REALLY hope the read there aren't true because if so then ho lee phuk.
Julian Ross
Explain.
Leo Gonzalez
Sum Ting Wong?
Brayden Miller
Yeah, it's true. It goes to shit. The anime won't reach the point where it completely falls off a cliff though.
Jayden Ross
It does kinda go to shit but last week shows that some of the complaints (specifically about characters with shonen superpower specialities) were there from the start and speedreaders just didn't realize it was always a part of the series' dna
Sebastian Jenkins
I read that they forced the creator to revive it and are making more. Like beyond a shambling corpse.
Jaxson Morris
This hand of mine glows with an awesome POWER!
Owen Reyes
The cooking superpowers never bothered me that much- though I think I bailed before it got really bad. The final antagonist was like "absorbing" everyone he defeated or something?- What killed it was they transitioned from a "prove yourself and reach the top" story to a waaaaay over the top "FATE OF THE ENTIRE WORLD AT STAKE" story, and it certainly didn't help that a good 95% of the character got sidelined hard in favor of the MC, and only the MC.
Jeremiah Robinson
A 4th season of the anime is coming this fall, but the manga was cancelled this year. They did force the creators to keep going even though they wanted to end it, which I guess really brought on the decline in quality.
Oliver Cruz
>The final antagonist was like "absorbing" everyone he defeated or something? It was really just a stylized/level up version of copy nigga's ability.
Jace Morris
Asking the chucklefucks in this thread will tell you SHONEN BAD, so you'll just have to watch episode 1 and judge for yourself.
Jaxon Cruz
just started watching/reading. Seems pretty good so far, if a bit slow
Isaac Rivera
A heads up for everyone who will watch Dr. Stone. Tsukasa did nothing wrong. Fuck boomers.
MHA is last and brings in 100k plus views. Stop making excuses faggot.
Nathan Scott
its like rick and morty but japan
Nolan Reed
you cant go from deep seeded racial wars and castle sieges with top tier magic users and suddenly go to magic equivalent of Kick the Can with new recruits.
Brody Jenkins
Maki is called a gorilla because of her muscles and gets angry if any one calls her something like it. I'm guessing Kohaku is the same or close to it or she has a brutish personality. I wouldn't know as I know nothing of Dr.Stone.
Parker Thompson
That’ll do, pig.
Samuel Jackson
It's like the Promised Neverland in that it differentiates itself from the average shonen and has a good hook but doesn't really get good until 6 eps in.
Nathan Cook
We need more Yami to save BC.
Henry Campbell
oh sure when yami takes a shit you cheer but when i dont have a follow up from another show
Isaiah Martin
>its like rick and morty but japan Don't mislead people, user. Literally all they have in common is "science". Jist in terms of the main protagonists, Senku and Rick couldn't be any different in personality, motives, or their approach toward science.
Logan Gutierrez
I still don't know what any of these numbers mean.
Hudson Bennett
viewers in thousands - rating - viewers in thousands (18-40 something demographic)
James Howard
so more like the microverse episode where they were in prehistoric times, got it
Robert Allen
DeMarco was probably going to sue or whatever. There was probably some kind of breach with MHA. And since Funimation is already dealing with Vic, that's the last thing they need.
Benjamin Rivera
>There was probably some kind of breach with MHA Hulu may have the rights to the new seasons since they had the show before we got it.
Nathaniel Cooper
wait are they running MHA from after USoSMASH?
Samuel Johnson
So when are you fags going to apologize to Gen:Lock?
Landon Jones
yes, theyre starting at the beginning of the license exam
Brody Turner
>futile You know he has a concrete case, right?
Luke Roberts
Except it’s confirmed that it will reach that point with the new season coming
Sebastian Robinson
Makes sense, once you lose passion for a project you stop giving a fuck.
I see nothing but praise for Food Wars and Fire Force, so I figure people here just have a better gauge for what good shonen is
Kayden Bennett
MHA also gets the DVR boost dumbo. Not that it matters, your trash show is going to the deathslot this week. If MHA reruns embarrass it, you will be nowhere to be found
Leo Anderson
Demarco clearly stated when they got MHA that it was only for up to season 3. There’s no way Funi would have got trapped into another AoT style deal where Toonami is entitled to all future seasons.
I don’t think the Hulu thing matters as much as we thought. Technically speaking, they had access to Fire Force and Dr Stone too, and we got those.
Cooper Rivera
So it’s just like Bleach. Get forced into going beyond your plan, so you just fuck around and have fun until you get cancelled
Adam Sanchez
They are setting it up to transition straight into S4 in October. It’s much better than how they handled AoT where they started from Ep1 and just ended it abruptly. If they get MHA before the final episode airs again, it’s in the perfect spot to extend the block for a night for a burnoff before S4
This is actually really good forward thinking considering Super is nearing its end. MHA near dub premieres is probably their best bet at maintaining a decent audience. Couple that with Demon Slayer dub premiere right behind it, and they have a strong start to the night
Dylan Long
MHA Season 4 is gonna be basically nonstop action/fighting for the first cour too.
I'd say lead with Demon Slayer if it being slow starting out doesn't murder the rest of the block- it has decent hype behind it.
Hudson Wright
Also the Food Wars manga gets really, really hilariously bad at the end to the point it got axed- it had a precipitous sales decline and one of the arcs was so hated by fans in Japan the author literally apologized for it on twitter.
The latest season that was announced is gonna be shit because it's basically an obligation being dumped on an overworked/poorly scheduled studio (J.C. Staff- who brought you the awful One Punch Man S2).
Basically the decline is as follows: >Erina's dad Azami shows up basically dripping with slime. Turns out he lost custody of her after physically/mentally abusing her to try and mold her into some superchef or make her the ultimate "god tongue" or save her life or some shit (don't let anyone tell you his motivation for what he did to her is clear- it changes like 3 times) >He convinces most of the Elite 10 to side with him and oust the current headmaster and make him the new one >He implements a new curriculum that eliminates shokugekis and replaces it with this very regimented/strict education that produces great chefs that all cook just like him >He tries to eliminate the Polar Star dorm by basically stacking the deck against them with tests, which they all pass with Erina helping train them >The epic good guy Polar Star members challenge the Elite 10 to a big group shokugeki >Lots of incredibly predictable wins/losses; jobbers continue to job, Souma continues to win, not a lot of actual food is shown because Tsukuda's food consultant was pregnant and squirted out a baby around this time >One of the matches was so bad it was the one Tsukuda apologized for on twitter. >Of course Souma clinches the final win, defeating Azami >Erina literally thanks Azami for "everything he has done for [her]" as he walks off in a huff. >Erina ends up Headmaster and Souma and co. take most of the E10 spots.
People HATED this fucking arc, and then he cranked out an even worse one right after it. It's baffling.
Ryan Miller
>J.C. Staff- who brought you the awful One Punch Man S2 S2 wasn't near S1's level but it was a far cry from awful. It was leagues better than JC Staff's regular output and showed a lot of effort and passion. The team just wasn't as talented and had a way worse production schedule than Madhouse's team.
And really, OPM season 1 was basically a fluke. The stars aligned to make it nearly perfect in every respect. Gorgeous animation and artwork, great music, great voice work, faithful to the source material... it had everything going for it in a way that normally does not happen. Lightning rarely strikes twice.
But then you have Mob Psycho Season 2 which shows it can in fact strike twice.
Evan Barnes
It’s probably better to lead with MHA. It’s proven already it’s lead material, and the crowd it draws actually sticks around
Sebastian Brooks
I suppose that sounds nice and all but id much rather go from United States of Smash into s4 if that was the case with a quick KLK style recap from TOM and/or SARA. Like TOm hitting the fast forward button on SARA to recap the license exam
Maybe a quip from SARA before a hard cut >dont do that again >that felt good weird >i didnt know i could do that >we should do that more often
Wondering if that hype will actually sustain itself through fall. The manga is definitely having a moment in Japan right, it's jumped to second place in sales behind One Piece and is dominating back orders right now for Weekly Shonen Jump, meaning tons of people are going back to buy the first few volumes.
Camden Brooks
Has anyone else had trouble loading threads? Like taking an extra couple of seconds? Not a huge deal just a little annoying.
Austin Martinez
>J.C. Staff- who brought you the awful One Punch Man S2 I think J.C. Staff just can't do heavy action oriented stuff. They are doing like 5 shows this season and they all look decent enough. Or probably OPM must have been a mess in production and they barely had any capable people working on it. They definitely need to stop overworking themselves though, screwing up a big franchise like OPM is embarrassing.
Luis Bailey
Latency that small can have any number of causes unrelated to Yea Forums itself.
Thomas James
Yeah. Might just be my ISP.
Nathan Martinez
Or your browser, or any of a dozen different issues with your computer itself.
Christopher Hall
Seems resolved after a simple cache clear.
Jacob Rogers
>Or probably OPM must have been a mess in production and they barely had any capable people working on it. JC Staff's season 2 of OPM looked okay. It was actually pretty nicely animated for the most part, much better animated than a typical JC Staff show in fact, so they clearly put some of their best people on the project. Problem is they don't have near the talent of the staff of season 1 and had a way worse schedule. I've seen so many shitty action anime that calling OPM s2 "badly animated" just doesn't hold water with me, it's actually above average overall.
The thing is, Season 1 was just phenomenal, it was a constant sakugafest with no drop in quality throughout its run. That is a long way to fall when your season 2 is just "okay".
Michael James
I was about ready to say that Mob Season 2 pretty much blew one out of the water and one was good.
Noah Rogers
>I can’t believe people are actually tuning in for this crap. Genlock's animation is actually really interesting. It's not amazing, but it's no worse than, say, Star Wars Rebels or Star Wars Resistance. And it has a similar color palette to Resistance while not being about a band of stupid annoying children.
The writing is the weakest part, but I can watch Genlock on mute and be amused, which is more than I can say for DBS or Lupin.
Lupin is unfortunate though because the actual stuff in this season is pretty fun. Americans have shit taste though; remember how badly Black Lagoon and PTE did. They just don't like jokes that aren't Family Guy tier.
That is also the reason why Dr. Stone is going to flop hard. I predict a premiere viewership of 325,000, and the numbers will only drop each week from there. It'll average 280,000 by week 3 because the Dr. is just a Gary Stu, the muscle head is too stereotypical, and the humor isn't very good.
Wyatt King
Mob Psycho 100 having two incredible anime seasons under its belt makes me really happy, a shame we probably won't get season 2 for a while.
Jackson Bailey
Hopefully it lasts. If Ufotable announces they're doing another season, it just might if it doesn't take too long.
Henry Evans
>Keep going It's only 3 epilogue chapters and we already got 2. Spoilers: Dark Souma is actually Erina's half-brother, while Souma is only his adopted brother. He's Azahi's blood son with some random hooker, which is why he wanted to marry Erina and combine their superior genes.
Daniel Torres
I'm pretty sure they will. Ufotable doesn't normally pick up series like this, they do a lot of video game adaptations and are Type-Moon's preferred studio as well, so I did a double take when I saw them as the studio for a shounen jump title.
>one of the arcs was so hated by fans in Japan the author literally apologized for it on twitter. Which one? There were so many bad ones towards the end. Was it MY HANDS HEAT UP THE POTS WHILE I JUGGLE?
Jack Williams
Ufotable doesn't just do TV anime, they do lots of cut scenes / cinematic stuff for JRPGs and visual novels, that's actually how they got started with Type-Moon, they did animated sequences for Fate/Stay Night's rerelease and some other Fate games, same for the Tales series.
Hunter Bennett
>The manga is definitely having a moment in Japan right, it's jumped to second place in sales behind One Piece and is dominating back orders right now for Weekly Shonen Jump, meaning tons of people are going back to buy the first few volumes. And this is why you animate a manga at the very end of its run, not at the middle. It generates a huge sales boost, people realize they can latch onto it and finish it in less than a year, and the anime will have momentum as it approaches the conclusion instead of lingering on like One Piece or Naruto.
Andrew Gutierrez
People were saying that apparently Nasu is a fan of the series and might have recommended it to Ufotable.
Henry Gonzalez
I believe that. Nasu probably has insane pull with them at this point, considering how he's worked with their staff on their adaptations of Fate/Stay Night.
Jackson Collins
There's zero chance of this turning into Naruto or One Piece, this isn't Toei or Pierrot for whom long running weekly series are their bread and butter. This is Ufotable, and it feels much more like somebody's passion project than a mercenary job.
Easton Cooper
Eh, they don’t put that kind of effort in these days. At the end of the day, this is just some 4am filler that most don’t care about
Aiden Collins
It was during central IIRC
Leo Butler
MHA is in a good place with the anime where it kept the seasons coming consistently. It’s not like AoT where there’s a huge gap that ran all the normies off
Dominic Perez
>There's zero chance of this turning into Naruto or One Piece There's zero chance because the way the industry works change. Either you get a situation like MHA, adapting a work from the middle and taking breaks per season instead of making filler, or you do like Kimetsu and Welcome to the Ballroom and adapt the manga when it's a few months or a year from ending. That way you adapt only the complete story and get as many views and sales as you can.
David Barnes
They waited a bit for MHA to build up a chapter buffer then I think Bones decided they would stick to about one season per year so they'd have no danger of overtaking, since I think they've realized their old habit of starting series adaptations early, overtaking, then doing anime original ends gave them a kind of negative reputation and after Brotherhood they've seemed to take a different approach. They're being careful to adapt MHA faithfully.
Nathaniel Phillips
Keith Silverstein is such a good VA. He looks kind of spooky though.
Dominic Sanchez
He should've let them adapt El-Melloi II instead of Troyca.
Wyatt Watson
JC Staff is who you call for fanservice. Notice no one ever complains about what Food Wars looks like because they do fanservice well
Troyca may have outbid them. Fate is a hot commodity now thanks to FGO, lots of studios probably hungry to get a potentially good selling series.
Jack Young
Why is genlock the only show I don't actually care about watching, considering they're all new shows to me?
Julian Bailey
Lupin just isn’t good. You know no matter what, he wins every time and nothing bad ever happens to the main cast. So these cliffhanger episodes where Lupin is shot have zero impact.
Landon Howard
It’s not anime and it looks and sounds like shit. Which amusingly enough, May be why Dragonfags stick around for it
Parker Hall
It's not about winning or losing. Lupin is a slice of life anime but about a master thief and his companions. You watch it to see the relationship between characters, and how they have fun in their latest heist.
Jackson Long
You're completely missing the entire appeal of Lupin and it sounds like you're expecting it to be some kind of serious suspenseful action series, or something. It's a serial adventure from a 60s manga, it's overall a very short manga series that ended up spawning a much more profitable and long running anime series because the format worked well for TV, being mostly self contained episodic adventures, which was very much the format at the time it was made into an anime.
Basically Lupin III is a relic of an era when serials like the old Indiana Jones adventures were still popular, stuff like Johnny Quest in America is a good example, if Johnny Quest had more sex and violence in it.
John Clark
Man you're way off base if you think Lupin is supposed to be like a battle shounen or something, it's more like anime James Bond. You're never in doubt that James Bond is going to win, he's a suave bad ass who fucks hot bitches and does cool spy shit. Lupin is a charming rascally master thief who makes fools out of authorities, flirts with hot babes, and gets into all kinds of adventures. He's the kind of character you'd match up against Inspector Gadget or something.
Evan Lee
And this isn’t what Toonami fans want yet Demarco STILL tries to force them to like it
Oliver James
Toonami Fans like DB Super, they deserve to have actually great stuff forced on them for their own good.
Juan Clark
Perhaps his only redeeming trait is continuing to air good series that plebs hate. I'd credit him with picking PTE but he probably had nothing to do with it.
Henry Brown
I think its funny how people are mad that Gen:Lock is getitng more attention.
Leo Martinez
People are dead set on hating it but what little I've seen of it hasn't seemed extremely bad. More generic than anything. I mute the TV when it's on now cause the voice acting is annoying as hell.
Juan Roberts
Well too bad, there's more to anime than Dragon Ball.
Ian Nguyen
Current Series End Dates (accounting for marathons): Dragon Ball Super - October 12, 2019 Gen:Lock - September 28, 2019 Dr. Stone - March 7, 2020 Fire Force - February 8, 2020 Food Wars! - October 24, 2020 Black Clover - TBD Boruto: Naruto Next Generations - TBD Naruto: Shippuden - November 9, 2024 Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin - October 5, 2019 Lupin III: Part V - December 14, 2019 My Hero Academia - November 9, 2019
Tyler Thomas
What about the crap about Dark Chefs and Souma's brother?
Carter Garcia
>he wins every time So does Goku yet that's ratings gold to people for some reason
Carson Howard
>Dr. Stone Who would have thought they would go with the sole remaining unaired Jump series that isn't D.gray-man? Gotta love this variety!
>My Hero Academia - November 9, 2019 Oh so they're only doing a partial. Weird. They typically only do this as a placeholder when they've got more series waiting.
Joseph Morales
>Goku >wins every time Lol
Christopher Ramirez
>hurr the only other choice is Dragonshit There are so many great shows that could be airing in the slot Lupin is wasting right now. Though I suppose since it’s in the 3:30 trashcan now, it’s time isn’t really being wasted since normally that would be a rerun
Joseph Parker
>There are so many great shows that could be airing in the slot Lupin is wasting right now name 3
Kayden Price
You are correct, Kim Manning was the driving force behind PTE
Ethan Mitchell
It’s obviously for S4. Since we will get it at a 2-3 week delay, that lines up perfect with its October release date
Adrian Jones
Why do you people act like this is a bad thing?
Nicholas Hernandez
So we did get it after all. Demarco's hissyfit must've been over the fact he has to share the premier with Hulu so Toonami won't have exclusivity like he normally wants.
Jordan Thomas
Because they promised us diversity last year and have shown no attempt to deliver on that promise
Robert Bell
anytime he does "lose" he acquires a new level that leaves them in the dust.
William Bailey
We don’t know if they got it, that’s just speculation, but it certainly seems like they got it.
There’s no telling what goes on behind the scenes. Deathslotting it could have been a power play that secured S4. There’s really no telling who caved if we do get it
Elijah Bailey
Food Wars is a pretty significant divergence from the norm and isn't a meme show forced on them by an executive like PTE. I think Food Wars is the first real diversity in Toonami's lineup, and probably a harbinger of things to come (cum?).
Gavin Flores
At work right now, so I'll post last week's ratings later. That said, hot damn, we seem to be doing alright after all. Just drop Gen:Lock, move BC up a half-hour and I think we're cooking with gas.
Noah Ward
>more Jump crap I mean yea, it’s different from normal Jump crap, but it’s still Jump crap. The diversity promise was a full blown move away from shonen
Chase Ortiz
Because the brass promised variety yet it's the same Shonen Jump promotional tool it was years ago. Seriously, out of all relatively recent available Jump series the only two that haven't aired are Medaka Box and Dr.gray-man (others like Beelzebub or REBORN! were never dubbed, and as such don't count. Nor does Gintama as only the 2015 season was dubbed)
David Martinez
So what are they going to do when Super ends?
Austin Brown
Konosuba, Goblin Slayer, Zombieland Saga. Now retort with a quip about how these are all shit. But all would have been massive ratings draws, rather than a viewership pit like Lupin
Nathan Bailey
Speculation is that's when Kimetsu slots in, a rerun is not out of the question either because if anybody refuses to learn from history it is Demarco.
Michael Lopez
>But all would have been massive ratings draws Each and every time one of you morons says this the results don't back it up. As nice as Konosuba would be you're vastly overestimating its commercial viability.
Jaxson Taylor
I think more of the surprise is that Dragonfags are actually staying around for it. At least, more than they did for AoT.
The desire for it to fail is more just so we never get RT trash on the block again. As shocking as it may be to some, Genlock is probably the best written and best animated thing they have
Charles Gonzalez
rerun it
Dominic Brown
>But all would have been massive ratings draws, You are delusional. I actually like those 3 shows but they would absolutely not do well on Toonami, only Goblin Slayer even has a hope of doing better than Lupin because it's more of a straight forward action series which is what Toonamiplebs eat up.
Levi Brooks
People said Food Wars tits would draw a crowd and here we are
Jayden Cox
I haven't even been watching MHA since it got deathslotted. Can't imagine I'm the only one, so deathslotting it is basically sabotaging S4's run on Toonami since some people haven't even seen the last part of S3.
Logan Rivera
>Genlock is probably the best written and best animated thing they have Thats just sad
If they don’t have MHA S4, then Demon Slayer probably takes over as the lead. If they do have S4, then it leads with DS behind.
As much as people meme it, rerunning Super is not viable and will kill the ratings. Considering how much cash they are dumping into the block right now, they seem to be setting it up to be full of new shit so Super ending has a cushion
Blake Ward
Food Wars has steadily grown its audience since it started on the block. It's not knocking shit out of the park but considering it's 5th in the lineup it's doing pretty damn good and not getting dabbed on by anything after it.
Jaxon Cox
PRE-TOONAMI RATINGS: 8:00 Dragon Ball Z Kai 318 8:30 Dragon Ball Super 266 9:00 Rick and Morty 319 9:30 Rick and Morty 393 10:00 Family Guy 595 10:30 Family Guy 651
POST-TOONAMI RATINGS: 4:00 Gemusetto Machu Picchu 204 4:30 Ballmastrz 9009 187 4:45 Tigtone 177 5:00 Aqua Teen Hunger Force 185 5:15 Aqua Teen Hunger Force 193 5:30 Home Movies 202
Samuel Sullivan
>those shows couldn’t outdo Lupin You are delusional. They wouldn’t be blowouts, but they would easily blow out Lupin
Adam Clark
I'm well acquainted with trashy RT shows, RWBY is an abomination I don't want anywhere near Toonami. Gen:Lock definitely feels like their attempt to break big in "legitimate" scifi storytelling.
Ayden Reyes
The Meat Master made ratings increase a little bit.
Samuel Bailey
Is... is Toonami actually dunking on Family guy now?
David Garcia
Remember, Food Wars is also a couple year old dub, and it’s still pulling the numbers it does. That says a lot compared to everything else either being a dub premiere or right on the heels of the simuldub
Easton Phillips
Shouldn't they just rename Toonami the Shonen Swim Hour?
Joseph Lopez
Food Wars has been on a sharp upswing ever since it’s disastrous premiere. If Demarco wouldn’t have hidden the fanservice completely from the initial promo, it wouldn’t have had a bad start either
Hunter Barnes
No because it's several hours long and there's still a seinen show on the block, though they've booted it to the end of the lineup.
Wyatt Young
probably get bad ratings and then rerun Super to open.
There's no fucking way any of those will get an AS run. Normies will 100% absolutely not watch a single solitary second of Zombieland Saga or Konosuba and Goblin Slayer's content is way too much for AS. It already sucks ass and it'd suck even more edited down.
May as well say Shield Hero at this point too
Justin Green
It starts slow because the first arc is basically a prequel, then it gets into the main arc of playing Civilization and beating up cavemen with science.
Ian Ortiz
More like the Shonen Jump Station or something, since EIGHT slots are occupied by Jump shows. The single non Jump shonen puts it at 9
Once it ends, more shonen can take its place
Lucas Reyes
Yeah that promo was not very representative of the show's lewdness nor its crazy, over the top style. Made it seem much more like some down to earth show about a boy's dream to be king of the chefs or whatever. Think people are starting to get the idea that it's a lot more crazy and fun with tons of T&A for spice.
Zachary Robinson
The only reason they aren’t getting a run is because Demarco is in charge >I have literally no evidence they won’t draw a crowd but they won’t! >even though it’s proven fanservice can carry a show which would benefit Konosuba >let’s keep airing shows like Lupin that the audience hates instead of attempting something new
Thomas Miller
>and Goblin Slayer's content is way too much for AS lol wut
you realize they aired Hellsing Ultimate and Black Lagoon right? Literally nothing in Goblin Slayer tops Hellsing Ultimate's tamest episode
Grayson Jackson
Literally one week later it had double viewership. The few people who did tune in spread the fanservice by word of mouth and it saved the show. I have no idea why Demarco insists on being blind to the power of fanservice
Ethan Scott
If you think any of the chicks getting gobbed would make it on AS you've got another thing coming.
Asher Long
Ratings across the block were down drastically that week, so I wouldn't hold it against Food Wars too much. Still nice to see it grow though.
Kayden Sullivan
Cause he's one of those "anime is a srs art form guys" people. He actually has pretty good taste in anime from that one tweet where he listed his favorite shows, but his picks were also fairly restrictive in terms of genre, tone, and style. Typically these kinds of people with really restrictive tastes who only like "the best anime hast offer" hate fan service.
James Kelly
Literally nothing is shown on screen and it's like 1 or 2 scenes max. Hellsing Ultimate had necrophilia and babies impaled on bayonettes. Get over yourself.
Erina's mom has God Tongue so bad that she can't eat anything because it all tastes like shit to her. That's why Erina is such a bitch all the time; she's looking for a chef who can cook good enough to feed her mother real food. Souma's mom is literally Souma in drag.
I can't remember the last time a series nosedived into irredeemable crap for the ending so fast and so hard
Jack Davis
Negima
Sebastian Stewart
That actually seems more reasonable than that nonsense I was reading earlier. I dropped the manga back during the central arc after it became clear this was gonna be the main story of the manga now because apparently the series needed a villain.
Ayden Butler
His “taste” is just a generic list of “artsy” shows. And in the same post he gives a paragraph long explanation of why Naruto is the best anime ever
Joseph Brown
I still cant get over how brutal Goemon can get.
Jack Ross
That whole ep was brutal
Luis Jones
Er, all three of those shows were pretty popular when they aired, and Konosuba and Goblin Slayer would absolutely do well because normies love memey shows like Konosuba and Goblin Slayer has a sizable cult following. I highly doubt we'll get anymore Shonen Jump property shows for a long time considering the fact that we basically ran through all of them and SJ doesn't have any more guaranteed hits running aside from Chainsaw Man, Jujutsu Kaisen, and Act-Age which would probably be a good shoujo show if they actually go through with that one. Other than those there are other shonen shows like Blood Blockade Battlefront and Seraph of The End, that forgotten series Wit animated when the AoT anime was on hiatus.
Jack Cook
>Souma's mom is literally Souma in drag. That's actually kind of funny.
Grayson Evans
>Eight slots Fire Force isn't a Jump series
Joshua Perry
Toonami has always been an action block, and while seinen exists, shonen is much easier to air without edits on US TV because we're a bunch of babies.
Jaxon Gomez
Jujutsu Kaisen is rumored to be getting an anime announce sometime in the nearish future by Bones and it's basically kind of a mish-mash of HxH/Bleach.
If Fujimoto can stay on his brain pills long enough to not blow Chainsaw Man up that'll almost certainly get an adaptation and it's memey as hell (it's also good)
Leo Sanders
I missed it, did the qt with the shark teeth make it out ok?
Connor Nelson
>they don’t have anything aside from all of these shows that easily could get an anime by the time Toonami has space
Connor Flores
Oops, added Demon Slayer in early
Josiah Hernandez
>Bones First time I've heard of this rumor but this pleases me greatly. Especially if they can get the team from Mob Psycho who handled the urban legends ep to help with the creature summonings. Considering the fact that the manga is already popular in Japan I can see it being another Demon Slayer.
They specifically said they didn’t want it to be an action block anymore
Christian Thompson
>Dr. Stone - March 7, 2020 It ends on my Birthday. I shall wait and see if that's a good thing.
Wyatt Taylor
Goemon cut off her nails and then when he didn't have his sword he throws them into her eyes. He then cuts her in half.
Zachary Ortiz
Most of the shows he named are legitimately great shows. Pretentious people liking them doesn't mean they're not great. It's just like how pretentious snobs like to listen to certain classical composers. The quality of the work isn't worsened by the quality of people who like it. And Demarco does seem like a typical pretentious elitist given his taste and general attitude toward anime in general.
Bentley Jackson
You realize seinen and shounen aren't demographics right? There's plenty of shounen anime that would require censorship if they tried to air it on Toonami, there's more than enough ecchi and romcom shows adapted from shounen manga that would not fly on this block.
Lincoln Phillips
>Chainsaw Man doesn't have enough chapters yet >Act-Age is a huge what-if These are your next shonen protagonists, say something nice about them
Super into Genlock: Lose 41.2% wheres my new record goddammit Genlock into Fire: Lose 9.5% Fire into Lupin: Lose 18.8% needs more Zenigata Lupin into Food: GAIN 5.1% a true symphony of meat Food into Clover: Lose 7.4% Clover into Boruto: Lose 13.6% Boruto into Naruto: Lose 2.9% Naruto into Gundam: GAIN 5.1% Gundam into Hero: GAIN 11.2%
WHY DONT THE VIEWERS LIKE US!?!?! WE HAD CUTE HACKER GIRL AND DRONES AND INTERNET SHRNANIGANS AND THE FULL OPENING AND GOOD BUDGET FOR ANIMATION AND SEXY FUJIKO ENDING AND GOEMON CUTTING PEOPLE IN HALF WHYYY DON'T THEY LIKE US STILL!?!?!? AAAAA AAAaaAAA
Sebastian Johnson
>Full OP Is there anything special about Part V's OP runtime or was that just an apology for fumbling Part 4's soundtrack when it aired?
Nicholas Price
Do we like FireForce?
Juan Turner
Haven't seen smug Peter in a while.
Leo Ortiz
I enjoyed the original Lupin series, but it really is pretty funny how hard demarco wants to essentially meme Lupin into existing on Toonami and it just. won't. happen.
Alexander Torres
And how's that working out for them?
Austin Walker
They are called "ahoge"s
Jace Ward
El Hermano didn't know he was Erina's brother.
William Thompson
At 4am? I don’t think so chief
Thomas Baker
now that TV guide is pretty much a gone thing they can do it any time anywhere probably just waiting for october. we start off with the Super Intro then hard cut to a closeup of All Might's face with "I AM HERE" and an [as] bumper "now time for a movie"
Adam Evans
>had There’s your problem. If you would have kept the qt hacker, I’d still be watching
Zachary Rivera
That would cost so much, and with no promotion the return surely wouldn’t justify it
Tyler Torres
yeah but, super audience.
Andrew Lopez
They never even tried and just hoped everyone forgot they said it
Eli Moore
>Super audience >I AM HERE >wtf that’s not Goku >*click*
Henry Price
They are called pass me the mf scissors so I can remove them
Owen Reed
If it’s like Black Lagoon, it may be that Lupin runs a little short so they can squeeze it in
Gavin Clark
T-those could be anyone’s eyes
Noah Gomez
It's honestly and unfortunately the most refreshing show on right now imo, despite being extremely generic. The directing and animation are its best qualities and both makes it feel a cut above the other shows.
Kayden Walker
How much does it break DeMarco's heart to have to send Lupin to the deathslot?
>I highly doubt we'll get anymore Shonen Jump property shows for a long time considering the fact that we basically ran through all of them There's still Haikyuu and Kuroko's Basketball but I guess Toonami viewers don't like sports.
John Gomez
Me too im just not staying up till 330!for it
Jace Davis
breaks my heart because im always drunk as fuck around that time and i still dont know what the fuck is going on in Gundam Origins and i been kinda sorta mostly watching match since the first episode
now i wont be able to follow lupin
Andrew Thompson
>You realize seinen and shounen aren't demographics right? But they literally are.
Ayden Scott
>You realize seinen and shounen aren't demographics right? But they literally are.
Hudson Powell
He was passive aggressive about it on Twitter
Joshua Long
>I highly doubt we'll get anymore Shonen Jump property shows for a long time considering the fact that we basically ran through all of them and SJ doesn't have any more guaranteed hits running aside from Chainsaw Man That's not the problem, the real problem is that these shows keep getting more seasons. Just about everything toonami touches keep getting more seasons. Food Wars manga is getting axed and its still getting another season.
And to anyone who thinks Dragon Ball Super is ending, better think again. The manga is still going, you'd be a fool not to think the anime won't be back.
Camden Gomez
>Food Wars manga is getting axed and its still getting another season. Because there's still enough material for one last season.
Angel Mitchell
>Hearing what Food Wars turned into How did they take a wonderful, but slightly by the books, sports anime and turn it into a card game anime?
Even if Pooper gets another season, it would be a long time before Toonami got it
Benjamin James
Less than it did Gundam >Yeah, the schedule isn't finalized but Gundam's gonna be at 1:30 >Scheduling department says otherwise >NOOOOOOOOO, THIS CAN'T BE >Toonami viewers don't like sports Very little mystery as to why. Food Wars is basically a sports anime but with tiddy meat and thighs
It seems like such a simple and straightforward concept would be impossible to fuck up.
Ryder Foster
Another week another shitty MHA chapter. >Redestro's dream is a world where everyone can use quirks without restrictions >loses one battle to Shiggy >surrenders his assets to Shiggy because he's like the most free or some shit >Redestro sacrifices his dream on a dime to the guy who will destroy everything and thus make a free quirk society moot because everyone is dead Yeah I don't think this semen slurping manga is for me
>he tweeted AGAIN that Gundam was at 1am after he had come back from vacation even though it had been at 3am for a few weeks >people inquired if it was moving up and he leaked on accident >never replies to anyone and it never moves >he was just seething so hard about it he forgot Watching his favorite shows go to the trash slots almost makes up for him getting them in the first place when all logic said not to
Gavin Barnes
is there a wiki or something on food wars food prep? i want to try the onion on meat thing but i was too drunk to remember.
Kayden Harris
>doesn't really get good until 6 eps in. I dropped it after 4 shit was boring
Charles Murphy
Apparently, Brown Gyaru Captain stepping on men saved Fire Force.
Not sure if I was supposed to fap, or cook after watching Food Wars. I was more impressed that Souma made an excellent dish out of discount beef. Is he a waffle house, or chinese food level cook or something?
Daniel Reed
Asta needs to be built like Conan to save BC. Either that, or get someone like Anno or Ikuhara to articulate the fights better. Asta is simply too much of a big dick chad for shonen fags to handle.
Austin Taylor
>Is he a waffle house, or chinese food level cook or something? Yes. One of his superpowers is that he's a really good short order cook in a world of smug artisan assholes so he knows how to make his customers (read: judges) happy.
Zachary Stewart
>Watching his favorite shows go to the trash slots almost makes up for him getting them in the first place when all logic said not to Then to add even further insult to injury, Fire Force took Lupin's spot and it got booted to being after Gundam.
There's official recipes in the supplements but idk if anyone has them all collected somewhere. You might have to look up each one individually
Jason Smith
Should have watched ep 5 for O MY STONE NECK.
Robert Diaz
fire force is too adhd for me
Nicholas Cooper
Nah, those artisan assholes are clearly Michelin stars level cooks. There's just no Chef Gordon Ramsey to shatter their grand delusions of superiority.
I know it's been said so much it's become a meme, but the first 6 episodes are just covering the official prologue and pretty much everyone considers it to be the weakest part of the manga.
Isaac Rogers
Anyone else been getting cloudflare error 523 off and on today? I don't think it's on my end.
Gavin Campbell
I'm thinking specifically of three scenes One is last week where he wins because he reaconizes the "commoner" dish needs to be synergistic while Nikumi's focus is only on her one speciality element, one is this upcoming week or maybe the week after where while everyone is struggling to feed a bunch of linebackers he does it with ease because he's used to dealing with a lunch rush and then later on in the fall tournament where Alice does all her molecular gastroonmy stuff while completely missing the point that it's not really applicable to anyone without a fancy lab.
Isaac Hughes
/ck/ here, this is so true of the catering industry that it fucking hurts. Culinary Schools are teaching kids how to be perfect chefs, and Chefs are low key sociopaths.
Was Erina's Mom loose server pussy, or a druggie?
Christian Baker
I wonder how many people here will think Taiju is the MC.
Jordan Williams
>all the talk of food/food wars Anyone remember that one show we had on Toonami where someone was frying eggs ON bacon? was not the main focus of the show/episode but still that was weird as fuck
Bentley Cooper
Dr. Stone is pretty much Mayuri or Dr. Saotome as the protagonist without understanding what made them popular.
Jaxon Watson
No accounting for taste, that's what. They just can't handle a cartoony crime thriller.
Landon Roberts
>MHA moves way down >ok, I have stuck with it for 50 some weeks, I’ll power through the end >my reward for doing so will be going to bed after Black Clover going forward >lmao Lupin to deathslot now I’m sorry bros I can’t do it anymore. Lupin is just going to have to be a casualty of a better sleep schedule. The Naruto hour and Snoredum just arent something I can deal with all the way to December
Have they said if we are getting all of food wars or just season 1?
Aaron Williams
Lupin peaked at Pink Jacket and trying to be artsy right after it ruined the show.
Wyatt Rodriguez
Food Wars I can pass off because lolanime, but I have never understood how food schools can do what they do irl. The taste of food is completely subjective to the person. If you pour strawberry jam onto a piece of tuna, that’s probably going to be disgusting to everyone you give it to. But there may be someone who thinks that tastes good. The criteria for food competition have no way to be uniform since everyone has different tastes
It makes me wish I had been better at STEM as a kid.
Jayden Morris
I remember there being an episode of Bleach where someone gives Orihime a hot dog for breakfast and it caused a huge uproar here
Luis Butler
When have they ever only gotten a single season of something? They always get it all. Sentai even confirmed S3 dub is in progress just to premiere on Toonami
Jackson Reed
Negima had the excuse that they wanted to stole the copyright from the author tho.
Kayden Ward
Looks like Supermansion season 3 is coming to [as] since season 1 is on now
They've been changing that time slot for a while now. But it's a strong possibility they are getting S3
Austin Jones
But this interpretation of Char is shit.
James Lewis
They probably went straight to the Japanese distributor. That's what they seem to be doing nowadays. Funimation would never let them have these shows otherwise.
Parker Bell
Char is shit.
Nathaniel Fisher
Its Rick and Morty for
Nathan Lewis
>This is Ufotable, and it feels much more like somebody's passion project than a mercenary job. I don't know why people say this bullshit. Ufotable is the biggest animation studio not named Toei. When Ufo takes on a project, they do that project only while Toei splits itself across multiple IPs. Even fucking Pierrot is on the smaller side of studios. THAT'S what Ufo anime look good. Not this passion project bullshit.
Liam Hill
Demarco would have to acknowledge it first
Nathaniel Gonzalez
Bleach didn’t get cancelled but your brain functions certainly did
Zachary Wilson
Thanks. How is rating calculated?
Luke Scott
And then he loses again in a humiliating fashion
Adam Cox
by whom?
David Cook
>Is... is Dragon Ball Super dunking on Family Guy now?
Why would they make multiple threads lying about the same and specific fuck ups?
Brayden Peterson
OPM, Mob Psycho, Black Lagoon, Blue Exorcist, and SAO. Am I missing anything?
Gabriel Edwards
>OPM S2 yet to be dubbed. High chance of us getting it >Mob Currently correct but not off the table >Black Lagoon Both seasons aired. RBT is an OVA, Toonami never airs OVAs unless the entire series in question is an OVA >Blue Exorcist They aired it all, then a new season came and they didn’t bother because it wasn’t that popular >SAO Every season has aired so far, and we already know we are getting the second half of the current season next year.
There has not been a single time where multiple seasons of a show were available and Toonami didn’t grab them all
Hudson Jones
Why have we only gotten nothing but shit for months then within weeks we get Dr Stone, Demon Slayer, Fire Force, and Food Wars. Lupin, Gundam, and Gen:Lock looked like death sentences.
>then a new season came and they didn’t bother Just say you're wrong man damn. There's probably alot of other series that they dropped as well
Colton Wood
i miss the old bleach
Connor Morales
They're finally striking while the iron is hot and picking up shows when they're airing and popular right now. Only Gen:Lock felt like a death sentence since it added soil to the Funi and Toonami are parting rumor but Lupin and Gundam are business as usual.
Owen Long
The difference is that the Bleach anime tanked so hard that it was axed several years before the manga. The Food Wars anime still sells despite the manga's nosedive.
Ayden Lopez
>There's probably alot of other series that they dropped as well Tokyo Ghoul
I’m not wrong though. If the season existed when they got the show, then it aired
Cooper Clark
The fact that they lost two shows before they needed to air seems like the best thing that ever happened to us. It forced them to make hasty decisions, and that’s how we ended up getting Food Wars. There’s zero chance Demarco would have cleared that under normal circumstances.
I do wonder how they pulled off Fire Force and Dr Stone. Even if you didn’t believe the rumors that Funi and AS were at odds, Funi was still actively trying to stay away from the block, and now for seemingly no reason, they hand over two of the seasons hottest shows
Josiah Parker
I don’t do what a THOT tells me, and I won’t start now
Hopefully some new DBS gets announced this week or the next, so that all we have to do is wait for Toei to give Funimation the licence to dub it.
Noah Johnson
No comment Probably won't make it to 2021
Carter Harris
Dragonshit doesn’t help the block at all. Once it’s gone, the night can start at about 500k and slowly trend down
Brody Lopez
Since [as] is losing Fox shows, I bet they'll keep it around as an option while they try to survive that transition. Unless it truly does horribly once DBS is gone that is.
Dylan Peterson
The fact that they are dumping some serious money into the block this summer makes it really seem like they want the block to survive and stay an anchor for Saturday
Dominic Brooks
the bad thing is it has annoying/boring side characters for like 7 episodes before trading them in for actual decent characters so you have to kinda slog through for a bit
Lucas Wright
who's that in the pic and are they a cute trap
Ryan Clark
Exactly, except if Rick was less funny and less of a drink asshole and was really serious about his catchphrases
Christopher Perez
End yourself trapfag
Nathan Cruz
>calling Meat Meat a trap Neck yourself
Colton Martinez
ah, even better shes perfect
Owen Jones
they're not going to license your moeshit regardless so I would get too fussed about it
Jose Green
Seems that way with those weirdass vidya related developments.
Parker Baker
What are you talking about? They're airing Bort right now, its basically ninja Lucky Star.
>There has not been a single time where multiple seasons of a show were available and Toonami didn’t grab them all And they were a available later on but they were dropped for better shit
Nathan Phillips
Nothing about that autistic faggot is funny
Henry Hughes
>Oh, so you don't like real girls, user? This public toilet comes up to you and asks you that, how do you respond?
>later That’s the entire point. If shonen dreck #2754 has 3 seasons when Toonami picks it up, all 3 seasons air. If shonen dreck #2537 has 1 season when Toonami picks it up, and gets a second season later, there’s no guarantee the second season gets on, though the probability is much higher than a fresh show
Henry Harris
Looks like a dude, is this a dude?
Daniel Cook
Consider the following. Basilisk: Kouga Ninpou Chou for 12:30 or 1:00 slot. It has fighting, ridiculous power levels, and a drastic contract on ninjas usage, compared to the rutos.
Andrew James
>I have never understood how food schools can do what they do irl. Subjectivity aside, there's still an amount of technique that goes into preparing dishes and having enough control over what you're making to modify it based on feedback. Like if the head of the kitchen says one of your dishes isn't firm enough, you have to know what to change to make your dish more in-line with what the kitchen wants.
Jason Foster
>old and obscure Literally the worst thing they could do for ratings. Especially that early at night
Brayden Martinez
>Zap her The only sensible action She's not human and no
The worst part is that now I believe we'll make it that far. Toonami is like that 30 year old cat that can't be killed despite all of the odds stacked against it.
Michael Brooks
Why are Shit:lock's ratings getting better and not crashing and burning?
Bentley Wright
People were going to think it looked like shit no matter what. They had too high of expectations.
Matthew Brown
Go woke or go broke.
Dominic Foster
The anime could not have continued beyond Lost Agent without substantial filler, as Kubo was only a few chapters into Thousand Year Blood War by the time the anime caught up to the manga.
Owen Cruz
DeMarco said he liked Food Wars on Toonami Pre-Flight quite a while ago. He knew what the show was like before Toonami got it.
Julian Gray
It seems like this question has been asked a lot lately. DBS is an island that only ever really benefited itself. Toonami can survive without it, especially since the FOX buffer is getting phased out. Toonami probably wont be in much danger of cancellation until one or more of those co-productions does so poorly that they can't make back the money they put into the production. That could definitely happen but if they set the bar low enough then maybe Toonami will survive about as long as Adult Swim does without Family Guy and Bob's Burgers.
Christian Phillips
If you actually expected a block like Toonami to stop picking up mostly shounen and some seinin action series in favor of other genres, you were definitely expecting too much. The block isn't going to move away from action anime in an instant, especially when most of the popular shows any given season are action shounen.
The most they'll ever do is pepper some diversity in. If you don't think non-action JUMP series like Food Wars, The Promised Neverland or a sports series like Megalobox or the largely slice of life FLCL Alternative count as diversity in Toonami's sea of fighting shounen and old man anime then I honestly don't know what you expect them to be airing.
Nah. Demarco is the kind of person who watches 5 minutes of something, maybe less, and claims to like it. He is entirely clueless otherwise. There’s no way someone as aggressively against fanservice as he is could enjoy Food Wars
Andrew Carter
They literally fucking said they were going to move away from the shonen spam. I didn’t set my expectations high, Demarco set them high with his lies
Evan Turner
God watching Food wars is even more enjoyable knowing Demarco probably hates it.
Samuel Bennett
I think most people cope with that fact but that doesn't mean they don't have the right to be annoyed about it. Especially since they did a fine job having diversity back when the block was half as long as it is now before 2016.
Jeremiah Carter
remember when demarco spent money on this piece of shit
I liked every part but I think part 2 and 3 were the funnest to watch with the general.
Connor Cox
Trips confirm, Toonami isn't ready for FIGH-TING GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLD
Luke Collins
This guy is right. Nobody really had expectations for them to mix up their show choices prior to them outright saying they wanted to mix things up. If they didn’t want people to expect change, they shouldn’t have teased it
Andrew Jenkins
Funny thing, I entirely forgot about this even happening
Eli Reyes
Btw this weeks game will be Big brains. Lookin' forward to it.
That begs to be ask: who would you cast for Part 5?
Hunter Robinson
But people didn't expect things to change quickly? They're weren't about to nuke all their on-going shounen in an instant.
I suppose it's reasonable to think that they wouldn't immediately go after more but them announcing Boruto definitely should have put those expectations in check back in 2018.
I think people also have forgotten the reason DeMarco sighted for why they were looking into other genres. A lack of bread and butter options at the time. He said that when he thought My Hero Academia was off the table and manga like Dr. Stone and Fire Force didn't even have anime adaptations in the works.
Megalobox, Promised Neverland and Food Wars are definitely showing some broadening of their scope though and in a less drastic manner than PTE was. Playing straight slice of life with no sci-fi or fantasy angle, will probably never happen but they will definitely air more shows that blur genres.
Dylan Wood
You should have watched Pop Team Epic, user. It was the show to test the waters for non-shonen shows and it bombed and told DeMarco that the shonen routine didn't need to be changed.
Hudson Watson
They first made the statement in early 2018, and promised 2019 would be when the big changes go into effect.
Zachary Cox
>choose show that’s an awful fit, mostly due to its rerun gag >it’s goes over poorly >well hey ho, I guess shonen is all these guys want! PTE is not the first choice you go for when you lift a long standing rule of shows being action only
Isaac Gray
That's not hard.
Asher Jenkins
>Fire Force flopped in Japan >Dr Stone is nothing but asspulls >Food Wars jumped the shark ages ago >Black Clover is painfully average >My Hero was overrated garbage that disappeared up its own ass >people only show up to watch shit that was huge in the early 2000s
Black Clover was amazing with its elf reveal/twist faggot. I'm still seething at the fact that the anime spoiled literally everything and was given to Pierrot with barely any animators.
Really bad timing with the Kyoani fire. Delay + reminder of what happened, coupled with the fact that it's not that interesting.
Landon Morris
B-BUT IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE THE NEXT BLEACH
Jeremiah Russell
What is it about Lupin that pisses [as] viewers off?
Cooper Sanchez
Well it quickly turned into garbage like Bleach, so you're somewhat right.
Joseph Clark
>Unrelated event to the show motivated people to stop watching a show. Why are Japs retarded?
Ian Baker
Why has the site been shitting itself so much recently?
Daniel Morales
didnt this happen on toonami night once like 5 or so years ago and everyone killed themselves?
Isaac Phillips
It’s been the same scooby doo tier antics since red jacket.
Lincoln King
>anime studio burns down >anime about flaming people Admittedly it’s hitting pretty close. Not to mention this was the worst terror attack Japan has had in decades. While it was forgotten about here a day after it happened, I’m sure their news networks are still actively reporting on it, similar to how shootings here get weeks of coverage
Aaron Phillips
Yes. During the Space Dandy Fishing episode. Also for 5 minutes last week.
Grayson Gutierrez
In 2 months the line up will be >Black Clover >Demon Slayer >Fire Force >Food Wars >Dr Stone >Attack on Titan >JoJo >Boruto >Naruto >MHA The block has never been stronger
Josiah Mitchell
>Attack on Titan Wot
Benjamin Mitchell
>>Black Clover >First Never going to happen
Lincoln Brown
>Jojo >AoT >MHA still that low if they get S4
Nathan Miller
That line-up kinda blows
Anthony Morales
>constant skipping on [as] all night fucking god damn its thursday saturday is so close
Aiden Carter
Super will be replaced by a long runner
Jose Moore
Yea MHA or Demon Slayer
Logan Perez
You guys seeing this fucking [as] bumper? >breath of the wild town music >woman on an exercise ball >a dog >random shit everywhere >MOTHERFUCKING BREATH OF THE WILD MUSIC how the fuck did they get away with it?
Asher Young
Are threads loading slowly for anyone else?
Brayden Turner
>Why have we only gotten nothing but shit for months then within weeks we get Dr Stone, Demon Slayer, Fire Force
That's not necessarily a good thing. They're still following whatever's popular at the moment, they're just able to latch onto simuldubs instead of waiting for the series to finish airing.
Ryder Roberts
Same way LoL got MHA music.
Jaxson Flores
oh yeah I forgot about that
Jayden Jackson
Threads not so much but refreshing a board has been taking a while the past few days for me.
Dylan Diaz
Been hearing this and other things. Wonder if the site is about to go for a long sleep.
Jason Wright
whats this about [as] losing the fox shows and does this mean we'll get more animated from [as] like ATHF and stuff or will it just be shity live action like tim and eric
Adam Lee
>Food Wars jumped the shark ages ago What happened?
Jayden Richardson
His point was that they were good choices, more that they are all fairly high shelf choices when Toonami had been scraping the bottom of the barrel for many months prior
Eli Garcia
In 2021 AS loses the right to Family Guy and Bobs Burgers. They keep American Dad no matter what though.
And no. Dumb retards on Yea Forums may think that, but the reality is, Family Guy pays the bills. When that’s gone, AS simply stops making content due to lack of funds.
Lucas Thompson
Tubi (Comcast)is playing the Cowboy Bebop dub uncut. There is a ad in the middle but you can ff past it If you start before the ad starts.
Yeah, he made a great Speedwagon in JoJo. I think he plays the clown pedophile in HunterxHunter as well. He's pretty good in that one too.
Noah Baker
This but unironically.
Austin Wood
>he doesn’t know The greatest thing to ever air on Toonami back in the day.
Jackson Morgan
>hehehe le randumb gags and funne faces If you didn’t have the nostalgia goggles on you would hate this trash
John Adams
Im starting to understand why no one cheered for Boruto during its reveal, once they got their pussy deflector 9000 headbands it became boring and generic
Owen Sullivan
It was boring and generic from the start >woah super specific issue >it just so happens we are going to learn the super specific solution this episode! It’s like a Saturday morning cartoon
Logan Miller
Watamote when?
Asher Cook
>Hating on Genlock >Gen:Lock bad! Not real anime! >Cannon Busters bad! Not real anime! >RWBY bad! Not real anime! That hate sustains and empowers me.
>which they all pass with Erina helping train them So is this when they try to push Erina as the love interest because she has been nothing but a mega bitch right now, or does she mellow out before this?
Chase Sanders
The problem with Promised Neverland is after the kid leave the orphanage than the story lose interest.
It's going to flop hard because of the prologue and Rick & Morty has jaded everyone about scientist characters, which sucks because the manga is so fun.
John Campbell
>jaded food wars might be tainting my viewing for this one. like if all the science stuff is ass pulls without any actual backup or othershit then yeah its going to be rick like.
meanwhile food wars has a cookbook based on actual dishes and goes into great detail on preparation and presentation. but if dr stone is going to be asspull after asspull then.. meh
Bentley Anderson
Well in that case you’ll probably actually like Dr. Stone cause the science is actually pretty grounded in real science outside of the main concept behind the show.
It’s semi-realistic science not Rick and Morty meme science.
Evan Jenkins
It's definitely not 100% accurate, nobody should consider it a documentary or survival guide. I'd say it's somewhere between real life and scifi, some stuff is fudged here and there for the sake of the plot/fun. As for asspulls, (almost) all of the "shonen powerups" are shown beforehand because they're tech and need to be built before use. Food Wars is actually a great comparison, both protags are really good at their specific field, but there are other characters who are shown to be better at their respective areas of expertise. When the protags hit a wall, they tend to work with other characters to figure out how to overcome it, along with some diner/chemistry knowledge.
Every other scene with her will be, since that's her whole character.
Oliver Brown
If demarco could he would just remove that character from the show
Matthew Davis
They showed the scene where ragyo raped her young daughter in a large bath. Uncensored.
What you're showing is tame as fuck compared to that.
Juan Bailey
When are they going to show Dragon Ball Z abridged? It's objectively better then Kai.
Caleb Adams
>They showed the scene where ragyo raped her young daughter in a large bath. >Uncensored. No, that was censored
Kayden Johnson
But they didn’t, that was by far the biggest cut from the show, and probably the longest consecutive cut in Toonami history
Liam Myers
Never, Toei would never allow it to happen. And really, no it’s not better. It’s poisoned the entire series with dumb memes that dumber memers can’t help but spew any time they get the chance
Jackson Richardson
it was alright i guess. i was reading the manga and i lost interest after getting to the third arc where they have to build a boat or something. there's just no sense of urgency, got tired of the antagonists sitting on their asses while senku gets fuck tons of prep time to finish doing whatever he wants.
Hunter Ross
>poisoned the entire series How does one poison literal shit user?
Jose Wilson
Eating shit won’t kill you instantly, but dump some poison on it and it will
But on the upside, the show was barely edited after that point.
Evan Scott
>barely Not at all. Which made some of the nitpicky edits from early episodes seem completely unnecessary
Nathaniel Harris
Yeah the current arc is pretty lame, almost considering dropping it.
Christian Price
>that one Mako nosebleed reaction they cut from the episode but continuously used in the bumpers I have a feeling the censor team is pretty lazy unless they are forced to work. The flashback to the SAO rape was completely uncut and showed a lot of the stuff they made a big fuss over. So it seems like the only reason the original was censored was because Sketch went straight to Demarco to ask about it, and Demarco probably told them to tone it down, even if it cleared S&P
Carson Butler
The author didn't make a plan past the orphanage, he's just been winging it per author interview
Lucas Hernandez
>just winging it >just From what I have seen, he jumps the shark bigtime
Nathaniel Robinson
I say barely in that the only things they edited were they replaced two scenes of Ragyo's hand getting dangerously close to Satsuki's crotch with a still of the beginning of the next scene, which in my opinion improved things.
the average [as] viewer is a retard. most only want family guy / futurama / american dad / king of the hill to rerun forever
Asher Gray
thats why theyre backlogging rick and morty episodes
Jaxon Martinez
I really doubt the creators of rick and morty will be able to make all those eps, they had a pretty hard time making s3 and it was shit.
John Jenkins
Realistically that deal may have been a huge mistake on their part. They bought 70 episodes, and have thus far gotten 0 episodes. It’s taking far too long for the episodes to be made to expect it to carry AS by its lonesome. I have a strong feeling AS will never see even half the episodes they paid upfront for
I dunno the manga has been on a downward trend for a long time. The beginning is basically the high point.
Matthew King
>that super promo how.. was that a spoiler? how big was it? actually now that im typing this out it looks like another generic powerup or maybe they wished for ultra instinct for all their universe members.
big justice guy going super i guess
Adrian Ross
>Deku 2.0 in Kekkaishi universe You're good for like 2 more years and then it's shark jumping time
Samuel Davis
>Lots of incredibly predictable wins/losses; jobbers continue to job, Souma continues to win, not a lot of actual food is shown because Tsukuda's food consultant was pregnant and squirted out a baby around this time >>One of the matches was so bad it was the one Tsukuda apologized for on twitter. The My Hero parallels are uncanny
The science in Dr. Stone is hard enough that they had to include a disclaimer not to try that stuff at home. They skip some steps but that's still a good indicator imo.
Oliver Jackson
dont try curing petrification at home, got it
Christian Gomez
Isn’t it like the least popular current running title in Jump by a sizeable margin?
That might be your view on it, but almost everyone I've talked to in manga threads and elsewhere has said that the beginning is on the weaker side, if not the worst part. Taiju quickly becomes irrelevant, Yuzuriha only gets development way later, Tsukasa is weak as a villain because he isn't one. the second the villagers show up things pick up.
Asher Lee
One of the first major things they make is gunpowder, so it's probably smart of them legally to disclaimer that shit.
Dylan Myers
That was something up by anons on here because it goes against their worldview that Demarco could pick up a show that they like.
Connor Harris
>Fire Force censored >Food Wars censored >Lupin in the death slot Yeah, I'm out. Wake me up if we ever get Mob S2 OPM S2 or JoJo PT5.
>that lineup Glad I stopped watching this shit block 3 years ago, would've been a terrible waste of my life if I were to wait expecting any change for the better.
