I think what makes them appealing besides typical tinpot dictator antics is the truly unique relationship they have with Zim. Rather than Zim being a simple minion, obstacle, or enemy, he's a genuine menace that is simultaneously dangerous to them but is also (somewhat) loyal to them. Giving him exactly what he wants would make him more entitled than ever, but being too hard on him might cause him to rebel. Putting the wool over Zim's eyes is a very risky game, so that adds a lot of flavour to their interactions with the defective ex-Invader that you can't find anywhere else.

If you want to try and go deeper, their relationship with Zim could also be considered a metaphor for the volatility of a population underneath a leader, even ones as (supposedly) supreme as the Tallest. For all his talents and bouts of genius, Zim is more or less an unflattering Irken everyman who is high on patriotism, a bloated sense of self-worth, and plebeian vices such as snacks and television. But if not properly placated, he could be a huge problem for those in charge.

Why is Tak's voice so sexy? I can't think of another time I loved a voice.

I feel like it works best if you are to consider how much time has passed from the original series. Dib is more mature, but not yet a perfect adult; he still talks to himself and still screws up a lot, but he's better at handling his mistakes and learning from them. Tak is more or less the same, but struggles both new and old have visibly altered her perspective (that is to say little of the physiological changes). Zim is still on the forefront of things, but he is no longer the focal point of their relationship, which is a lot healthier in the long-run.

I'm disappointed the author never continued. It held a lot of potential not just on the shipping side of things. Oh well.

So, apparently the reasons for the flash animation sequences in the movie is because Maven Studios fucked-up and Nick animated those scenes in-house.

They're hit and miss imo (mostly when whatever artist they got can't draw in the show's style and it takes me out of it) but when they're good they're peak Zim. And even the off model ones can be great, Dib's Skeleton is fucking sick looking despite how different it is.

I keep trying to revive the "cheese=alcohol for irkens" conversation for threads now and it's just not happening
