She is the least horrible of the 4 batgirls.
I really do like her and I enjoyed her run that had Dustin Nguyen on art duties.
>debuted as Spoiler in August
>debuted (properly) as Robin in August

Huh, big month for her. Well happy anniversary to absolute best girl. Here's hoping to some kind of substantial role in literally anything soon. Ideally with decent characterization, but that's just naive.
I love Gaby's art for Steph!
I thought her appearance in Young Justice #5 was really good. But sadly, Tynion isn't in the Bat-office anymore, and Bendis is stuck on his multiverse storyline for 10 issues before we can get back to her.
I quite liked her Spoiler stories.
Robin (who was written VERY much as a teenager with a few skills, not grotesquely out of reach for real humans) was up against D-List villain The Cluemaster, and Cluemaster's daughter (who was super pissed at him because he was a shithead that always caused trouble for her and her mom) kept sneaking out in a homemade costume on a fucking bike to try and fuck up his plans so he'd go back to jail and stop fucking up everything at home.
It was... nifty!
They were indeed good. And then she whacked Robin in the face with a brick!
Okay, senpai. Time to do a storytime of Steph's first issue in celebration of 10 years!
Using my actual scans, and not the digitals, so I can include the end content if it's relevant!
Got someone on twitter to start this series today. They thought this page was cool. "Boys are stupid." :)
Lee Garbett was so boss. I should really check out Skyward.
This page I remember very vividly, that day 10 years ago. I was like, "Finally, Steph is getting some justice."
So darn comfy.
Not bad at all, just unfortunately brief, and sliiightly confusing (though I can't say I'm upset about Cluemaster's inexplicable resurrection since he's an important part of her character and it was stupid to kill him off in the first place). But given all the chaos going on in the Bat books right now, it might not be a bad time for her to play benchwarmer anyway.
>Not my best plan.
Oh, she said that one twice. Top tier underrated catchphrase.
There were so many amazing catchphrases from this series. "Here we go." "I know, right." And so many more.
Babs was so aggro in this intro. But after Oracle: The Cure, wouldn't you be?
Steph's doodles are so good.
I know Cass fans are REALLY salty about this scene in particular, and they have a point. But do they have to bring it up every time? Sigh.
Jim and Babs are the best. I miss them being good family.
One more night...oh, Steph. So much.
I do wish they would have published a short summary of the status quo in the new trades. Woulda helped. They did it in the new Batwoman collection.
Sometimes I wonder if the opening issues of this series contributed to the unfair idea that Steph is a screwup.
Waifu is for PURE! NOT SHOWER SCENES!
am confused. What happened?
Uh oh...
Join us next month for the 10 year anniversary of issue 2! In which we have Birds of Prey callbacks, more quips, and a certain Batvillain shows up!
Not all that unusual for her.
It's a shitty situation. Just a shame DC couldn't fathom a way for them to share the spotlight without someone getting the short end of the stick.
Probably mostly War Games to blame for that. Unfortunate that so much of her character after all that (and the perception of it by other characters and select readers alike) had to be defined by such a mess of storyline, but I do love my Steph with a little self-loathing for flavor.
Oh boy, quips! Thanks for the storytime.
>But do they have to bring it up every time?
Yes. Sorry dude, but we keep a list.
And the reason why we keep a list is that DC piled so much shit on the character that we HAVE to keep a list just to keep shit straight.
"So right after the mini where Batman adopted her she gave up the mantle and said she didn't want to be Bat-anything any more. Right. Okay."
This cover and lead up still make me furious
And here comes :(
The only thing about this book that still makes me mad to this day is the one where Steph goes over the history of the Batfamily and doesn't mention Cass. At all.
It's inevitable. Batgirl Yea Forums is a Cass world and we're just living in it. Luckily she's great too. Less lucky that DC's abysmal editorial choices had to cause drama that's lasted a decade now (but what else is new). Guess it's the anniversary for that too. Happy seething Cassfriends.
