Depends how you define that. I was always the weird kid that liked to watch IZ on TV while everyone around me wanted to watch something else. I read the comics the first day they released, and have been looking forward to the movie for months now. I have never interacted much with people who liked it too though, I just kept it to myself and am now here to snatch up any Zim pics I find.

I guess you're right. What I can remember from the show is Dexter's a little bit younger so he acts a tiny bit more childish but he's much smarter while Dib just has good technology (from his dad) and superhuman physical prowess.
In a fist-fight, Dib would win against Dexter but in any other case, Dexter would blow Dib off the planet.

I keep hearing everyone say that its "just like a episode of the tv show" but its not in the slightest. No world biulding, no consistant charicters and unearned charicter moments like zims depression and "i m always proud of you son"

vasquez dosn't care about world biulding in the slightest so alot of his modern creative decitions are to spite fans like me with a "get over it its just a cartoon" but there was more passion to the prosses then given credit for and the call out to one of the more then skin deep scenes where zim and dib is screaming across a busy highway and they recorded both the vas really in a road trying to talk but because of storybording issues no cars where in the animation makeing the beeping that mutch funnier to me. so a perfectly paced joke is now remade in the movie as dib yells at zim from his house and the punchline is that there just both being loud and can't hear each other. among other issues with paceing and tone the biggest is the "lol random" of the humor only reserved for gir and the towns people where the joke was more about there charicters "arnt these people downtown weird, this is a exxageration of what youd see rideing a bus irl" or "gir isnt paying attention because hes thinking about this, cut to something weird because he was raised on tv" so any other charicter being overly waAcky and RanDumB is just hard to watch.

I loved Invader Zim when I was younger and thought that a movie 13 years after the original show would be shit but I loved it. It wasn't as dark as some of the darker episodes of the show but that's fine. Some of the GIRs randomness grated me a bit but I'm sure if I watched the show again it would be similar, some of his jokes worked though. Animation was better overall but some parts in particular stood out as weird to me like when they were in the ship. Suddenly the animation felt like a weird rick and morty and slightly cheap there? Not sure

my two faveorite episodes is backseat drivers from byond the stars and frycook what came from all that space. both have tight wrighting, layered a and b plot (or for backseat drivers like 4 seprate things all woven together beautifully) and all the jokes where charicter driven. so if someone is acting some way its a play on a pre existing quality they had. with the movie everyone acts the same so you cant play with varried values and personalities. a big conflict made from misunderstandings, arragance, and insicurity is amazing because its hard to do.

I was laughing throughout it like I used to laugh when I was a kid watching this on TV, that laugh that sounds dumb as fuck but you can't help. Invader Zim always felt more like a CN show with it's brand of humor. It's funny to read about the struggles the crew had with Nickelodeon not allowing certain things because TV Y7 meanwhile CN was getting away with all sorts of things given they made a show with Death as the main character that ran for 6 seasons

Classic Zim would have had the peaceday bracelets infect the host children like parasites and turn them in to braindead green semitransparent versions of themselves after being shot by the moose, never being cured by the end of the episode and the world being too stupid to realize something had happened. Classic Zim would have had his plans foiled by something extremely stupid and commonplace within humanity, like the Florpus being an actual living entity but the stench of humans being so great that when it tried to eat them, it spat them back out in disgust someplace near where earth originally was, but not exactly, leaving a noticeable change in the solar system, etc. that only Dib calls out to everyone, who as always, ignores him.

I liked it for the most part, but it kind of bugged me how sanitized and brightly colored everything was. One of Invader Zim's defining traits is its grimy, dirty world and dingy colors. The world in Florpus felt too clean and the colors too bright and sharp. It didn't quite feel like Invader Zim. Also I thought the Tallest were made unreasonably retarded and the whole gag with them refusing to turn could probably have been done in a way that made more sense.

3) said machine also turned Zim into the peak example of what an Irken can be physically, even the Tallest would be stunned at what Zim's become(and then would start vomiting when they realize it's Zim who they're feeling gaga about)

maybe even a blend of two of these answers

I am inclined to believe the Irken race existed before the Pak as their infrastructure benefits their physical being, most notably food and entertainment. There's also the fact that their mug is stenciled on all their tech, indicative of a clear species identity. They also likely reproduced sexually, and modern Irkens retain a definable genders

It was fine, the show needed an interesting plot so this one worked. I liked the idea that Zim sort of gave up and found new meaning. Senseless violence never worked for him in the past and this plan actually made sense because he was really just trying to get the attention of the Tallest in the most direct way possible, he probably doesn’t even care about the Earth anymore he just wants attention, which is obvious by the fact that he was had GIR make him a giant throne.

Or maybe his plan was revenge but he’s too stupid to realize it. Subconsciously maybe he meant to send the Tallest into the florpus to get back at him, using their stupid strategy of only flying in a Steiger line against them. At the end he kind of just fucks with Dib but he doesn’t care or mean any harm. It’s called character development. Sure after 13 years you’d want a that gross disgusting Zim show back, but this plot about them actually growing and realizing their efforts would always be in vain was great too. Gross out humor is lame anyway, it works in short 12-15 minute shows but not for 40 minutes. And this episode was more about Dib than Zim honestly. Zim is pretty much washed up and even knows it, he doesn’t seem like the type to destroy out of spite, he was only doing it to impress the tallest the entire time.

This is a different type of Zim episode but it works good enough.

well still working it out in my head, but basically picturing Irken puberty as being designed with the top priority being turning the Irken form towards two things: Breeding and Protecting their mates and offspring, with things like intelligence and tool usage taking a massive drop in priority

so picture a lot more limbs, all sorts of primary, secondary, and even tertiary sexual traits and organs being developed, an overall more bestial bodyplan(yet still humanoid enough to be oddly sexy), and all sorts of odd and sexual distortions of bodily proportions, not to mention all sorts of strange fluids and secretions coming out of all sorts of orifices
