Hey Yea Forums, Joss Whedon here
Just wanted to let you all know that I'll be writing and directing the MCU X Men movies

Better be closer to the quality of Avengers 1 than Age of Ultron (Although I understand it wasn't his fault, the meddling got out of hand).
Joss Whedon is unironically good, people only blame him for not being able to save Zack Snyder imminent failure because they would rather blame literally everyone else(RT,WB,Whedon,Disney,Metacritic, the audience,Nolan) than the hack itself
at least is not Zack
Are you sure it isn’t Steampunk Joss Whedon?
Do you know what happens to a toad when it's struck by lightning?
I really liked Astonishing X-Men.
Real talk, why was Harvey Weinstien treated like satan and Whedon wasn't?
>has never made a single good thing besides Cabin in the Woods
>which was co-written by based Drew Goddard
kek sure user, it's definitely that Justice League film that tarnished him.
I am not looking forward to MCU X-Men cause you know people will just make it a laundry list of X-Men cliches.
>>Cyclops must shout "JEAAAAN"
>>Wolverine/Cyclops/Jean Love Triangle
>>Rogue/Gambit
>>Wolverine "Best there is"
>>So many family trees
It's a fine line though, just badly executed.
Storm flies in, says the first half, hits him with lightning, he flies off, she turns around to go back inside and says, quietly and to herself, "same thing that happens to everything else". Her delivery is 75% of the problem.
His writing for X-Men would be fine, he can't direct action very well.
You can think whatever you want about his movies but the fact is he always managed to please critics, audience and make a lot of money, something that Snyder never managed to do through his entire career.
Snyder highest point in his life was the highly divisive Dawn of the Dead, that is considered a souless, brainless remake of an important hollywood classic.
Everyone likes to dump on Whedon for what he did to Avengers 2, but the truth is, that was just Whedon writing what he knows how to write. He's not all that well suited to "Crossover Event of the Summer" blockbusters, obviously, but smaller scale, more personal stories? Not a problem, particularly when it comes to the X-Men- the X-Books have always been the not-so-secret soap operas of the Marvel Universe, and Whedon can do melodrama just fine.
It's why his run on Astonishing was so good, minus his blatant fetish for mousy Jewish girls named Kitty Pryde.
And the obvious studio meddling from the "creative committee" certainly didn't help. There's a reason Feige got them all removed after AoU.
Considering he's written some of the best X-Men stories, I am perfectly fine with this.
why does he look like thanos
>that is considered a souless, brainless remake of an important hollywood classic.
Actually a lot of people, and filmmakers, consider it better
kek
Because Whedon is your perfectly ordinary sleazeball producer, while Weinstein somehow managed to be utterly pathetic about it despite being far more prolific.
He would do better on X-Men than he did Avengers. The team suits his style better. Also his small X-Men run was fine.
Did Whedon make people fuck him?
Yeah, that's not happening.
Yes

>When I was running ‘Buffy,’ I was surrounded by beautiful, needy, aggressive young women. It felt like I had a disease, like something from a Greek myth. Suddenly I am a powerful producer and the world is laid out at my feet and I can’t touch it.” But he did touch it. He said he understood, “I would have to lie — or conceal some part of the truth — for the rest of my life,” but he did it anyway, hoping that first affair, “would be ENOUGH, that THEN we could move on and outlast it.”
>Joss admitted that for the next decade and a half, he hid multiple affairs and a number of inappropriate emotional ones that he had with his actresses, co-workers, fans and friends, while he stayed married to me. He wrote me a letter when our marriage was falling apart, but I still didn’t know the whole truth, and said, “I’ve never loved anyone or wanted to be with anyone in any real or long-term way except for you ever. And I love our life. I love how you are, how we are, who you are and what we’ve done both separately and together, how much fun we have…” He wanted it all; he didn’t want to choose, so he accepted the duality as a part of his life.
Whedon's wife claimed he cheated on her. Weinstein was accused of systematic sexual harrassment and abuse by well over a hundred women. He was convicted of rape and is in jail now.
Whether or not Whedon did cheat on his wife is irrelevant since none of the supposed actresses he slept with came out and accused him of harrassment/abuse of power. By all accounts it either didn't happen, or if it did it was consensual.
>i'll give you a multi-million dollar job to fuck me
>okay
>twenty years later: HE RAPED ME
kek, whatever you say sweetie
If he brings in the team he had for Astonishijg X-Men i am down. Can we please forget about forcing Jean? She tanked 2 movies. Give Emma a chance
>minus his blatant fetish for mousy Jewish girls named Kitty Pryde.
Ironically he managed to tap that back more than most X-Men writers of the past 20 years. Bendis and Guggenheims Kitty fetish was far worse
>and Whedon wasn't?
Whedon, as afar as we know, never abused of his situation.
That's his ex. Admitelly, I understand she is angry, he cheated on her, but it's her word against his. And so far, zero, 0 of all the women he has worked with have come out. In this #metoo era, at least one would have cme out. Sarah Michelle Gellar would have come out, if she had been victim or witnessed other being victim. She has no reason to not tell about it.
As far as we know, everything Whedon has done was consensual, if outside the wedlock. So no, he didn't. I do get his wife is pissed for cheating on her, though. But I don't think being unfaithful means you are not feminist.
>blaming the victim
it never fail.
Avengers 2 is good. fuck the haters. It was mostly victim of MCU fatigue.
It was good up until the final act. Ultron just became boring then
>they can't both be at fault
kek
There was a weird power imbalance with it being his show(s) or whatever but yeah it was more just being skeezy than like something monstrous
In situation where your employer is taking advantage of the situation, no.
So why is there not a problem here?
We do'nt even know if he slept with people that worked for him. Could have been someone outside of work.
I would be ok with Whedon doing the main X-Men. But something like X-Statics needs an indie director
I blame him for being in the same room as Kevin Feige and not taking one for the team and murdering the motherfucker.
Pointless. by the point they met, Feige had already started his molting. There was notihng that could be done, his tendril already reaching for Disney's computer Network . Now Feige has left his human husk, fully merged with the infrastructure of the company. He is unremovable.
Trump has literally driven him crazy and broken his mind.
Having said that, I think he would do a great job with the x franchise, he's a huge fan. God knows he ripped off enough Buffy episodes from it.
>implying X Static will ever be adapted in any way, shape or form
get the fuck outta here
Whedon would be great at doing a Harry Potter style X-franchise, or a Spider-Man franchise. Anything with quippy high school students.
Here comes Dark Phoenix again, at least he'd have an excuse to kill off a character as usual.
Also, didn't he write the first X-Men script? Why would anyone expect anything good now, even if the MCU were still good?
He didn't MAKE them fuck him, in most cases they were people who worked for him though.
No one came forward to metoo him even though he admitted to dozens of affairs simply because he flat out said the women initiated not him and were doing it for reasons of ambition (actress wanting to secure roles) or just fans who wanted to fuck joss whedon. Buffy had a lot of female fans who idolized him, and if you think a lot of them wouldn't fuck him at a con or something you are crazy.
The reason Weinstein and Bryan Singer got nuked by accusations was that not only did they always initiate but a lot of times they didnt come through with what they were promising in exchange for sex, parts, bigger roles, promotions, etc. Apparently Whedon always kept his promises, if the transaction was honored people don't look back with anger usually, and if they got the part dragging it all out just makes them " the person who just got the part because they fucked Joss".
He flat out said in his confession letter after his wife's accusations that it all happened because he was a former nerd who became famous and then was surrounded by "smart ambitious women".
That's what they should do anyways. Drop a new student into an actual school setting.
That's how you do an X-Men origin after all. Animated series did it, Pride of the X-Men, X-Men legends, the original X-Men movie, all start with a new student.
>wanting the X Men to be teenagers again after we already had them being teens in the last 2 shitty movies
The only one who I accept being a teenager is Iceman, and that's only because I want some Iceman and Spidey crossovers
The rest have to be in their early to mid or late twenties, not too old but not too young
No chance after his ex wife outted him as a cheater and a sleeze. Disney would get torn apart by critics.
No you have the main X-Men being adults, and a younger student cast, Evolution style (only Cyclops and Jean shouldn't be students).
>Also, didn't he write the first X-Men script?
he did a draft that got rewritten completely, they only kept two lines, the "You know what happens to a toad" and Wolverine telling Cyclops that he's a dick
This had his dick in this
I thought the yellow spandex remark was him, too.
,Eh, they'd want to push the gay angle for Bobby.
wrong it was boring brown orange blue garbage. with a quip monster
What’s the other 25%?
He specifically said in interviews on the Buffy a anniversary stuff that he is embarrassed by how white the Buffy cast was and if he could do things over he would have almost no white actors. So giving him X-Men would probably result in like a Bendis style "reimagining".
It's just an okay line, that's the other 25%
Have Beast an adult too. Kelsey Grammer was the best Beast so far
So the factual inaccuracy isn't a factor?
You mean a Claremont style reimagining. He made them diverse
No problem with Whedon, here, as fas as we know. He just cheated on his wife.
It's for Weinstein there were victims.
They should let you do Runaways instead. I've been saying that since Avengers 1.
>they were people who worked for him though.
We do'nt even have a confirmation of that. Could as well be off-wok.
He was in Evolutions which was sort of the template I was going off. Storm, Cyclops, Jean (or she is already dead), Beast, Wolverine and Xavier as teachers, and a cast of students
wrong.
So what students? Kitty, Jubes, iceman, collosus, nightcrawler. I want Rogue to be an adult this time
and it could just have never happened. No one has come forward saying it happened except for the ex-wife, who obviously wouldn't have been there if Whedon was having an affair.
Granted, he most likely did cheat on his wife at some point. I just don't think it's an abuse of power. It's not like his wife accused him of having a casting couch or whatever. If the worst thing about a Hollywood filmmaker is that they cheated on their wife, then they're still a fucking saint compared to everyone else
>Astonishing
>so good
Not that user but it is one of the top 10 X-Men runs easily. And it is what i always recomment to newbies of X-Men cause it is easy to get into
Claremont didn't write Giant Size X-men and the first thing he did was send the Nip packing. The second thing he did was put the listerine drinker in a grave. Then he brought a redhead back to the team and made her the most powerful member. It wasn't until the New Mutants that he started adding non-white characters
whedon is a tv meme director who doesn't understand true movies
feige locking up the russos after winter soldier literally saved the MCU
>and it could just have never happened.
No, they are separated and it's quite official the reason they did was because he cheated on her.
I just find it weird that he got less heat for this than Aziz Ansari did for having a bad date.
You obviously haven't read his Runaways run.
See, Whedon is a gentleman. He doesn't do Facial on the first date.
You do'nt get heat on Hollywood for cheating on your partner. It's basically a Tuesday.
DIVERSE AND GOOD X-MEN TEAM:
White Male: Cyclops, slim guy, no muscles
White Slavic Russianbut more eastern/caucasus: Colossus, FAT.
Storm: the nigger of the team, of course, but not afro-american
Nightcrawler: retconed to be a romani gypsy raised in germany, he's a demon so whatever
Kitty: 5/10 jewish girl, really Semitic looks so no "white" jew bullshit
Thunderbird: huge amerindian, dies in the end of the first movie
His Runaways was fine. It worked well averything after was when it went to garbage.
>first arc has colossus come back from the dead after curing mutants AIDS because lol alien stole his body before his funeral
>second arc is a bad episode of Star Trek Voyager
>third arc has him completely fuck up Cassandra Nova/Ernst plot
The fourth arc is the only one worth anything. He created some useful characters (Brand, Danger, Rao) but they went on to do good things in other people's work
>top 10
If you're using just the mainline/flag ship book that's not too impressive. Claremont's 16 year run takes up only one spot but if you split it into 4 it would probably take up 4
I even consider minis like X-Club being one of my favs. Yes Whedons run is really solid and he made Scemma work whej Morrison failed
>Slim being slim is PROBLEMATIC!
>save me Jim Lee!
>muscles didn't exist before the 90s
>tall people don't naturally take longer to fill out
If Cyclops is in his 20s he shouldn't be a twig anymore
Didn't imply any of that, champ.
It's just seriously pathetic when people here go full SJW and consider any perceived flaw of an individual character to be an attack on an entire gender and race, and thus on themselves.
But MCU doesnt want to lose money
What the fuck are you even replying to you sperg? I was pointing out that Cyclops had a superhero physique before Jim Lee even became an American.
A 6'3" teenager should be lanky and awkward looking but if he's as much of a pro as a Cyclops by the time he's 22 he should have filled out. If Disney goes with a skinny Cyclops then they fucked up.
