Slightly drunk disregard errors ^^
Collections tend to be curated to highlight the better material. Best way to get a taste of what you like best.
Single issues are going to be rare, expensive and probably more often than not a mixed bag.
Slabs are a scam.
Where would I check for collections?

Right,
For the cream of the crop, EC Comics (Tales from the Crypt, Vault or Horror, Shock Suspense Stories, ect) there are a bunch of ways to read them. The best entry point might be to read the Fantagraphics hardcover b/w Artist's Library editions. They're relatively cheap and give you a good swath of "Best of" material.

If your interested in going a little more fancy, pick up the Dark Horse EC Archives hardcover editions (and in digital as well)

PS Publishing has put out some good, reasonably priced trade paperback reprints of Black Cat Mystery and other Harvey Horror Comics. They've kept them as original as possible, no touch ups or re-coloring's, even with the original advertisements.

Over at IDW, the YOE! Books imprint has been collecting a bunch of pre-code horror comics.

And as a personal recommendation, check out Steve Ditko's Strange Suspense, first volume in a series of his pre-Spider-Man horror and sci-fi comics.

Craig Yoe and other collectors like him have been hunting down and collecting old runs to reprint.
Tons of fresh volume hardbacks or golden age horror at your disposal.
The YOE Books Chilling Archive collections are the best resource for finding pre code horror in affordable batches. They're themed in every volume, too, so you get a good selection of stories from different creators, publishers and titles.
A lot of people complain about YOE Books because they reprint public domain material without bothering to research the credits (since no one was credited back then) and of course, no royalties (because they're public domain). But if you don't give a shit about that sort of stuff and are only interested in reading the material, then there isn't anything wrong with the Chilling Archives. The scan quality can be kinda lousy, admittedly, since they're at the mercy of the condition of the hard copy they could find, but it sometimes adds to the experience and all are at least in readable condition.

Thank you! Very informative!
There are multiple different titles
To choose from, would you say to start with crime Or horror
PS Artbooks has collections of pretty much everything at this point except EC Comics. It's also all public domain except for EC so you can just go online and read that shit.
EC stuff is poorly collected and never in print
Did he really try to eat a stick of radium?
For EC stuff go look for as many of the reprints as possible, but be warned: There may be a lot of recoloring so it's not entirely like the originals.
Many Pre-Code Horror is actually public domain, you can use the suggestions in this thread for printed stuff, but you can also go to comicbookplus.com or digitalcomicmuseum.com for them. Just look up whichever company you want to look for, the check on the site to see if a copy of the comic is up there.
The only thing I don't know about is stuff that might still be copyrighted, like Timely's horror stuff.
Hey man, I have 12 of the Fanta volumes and I love them, but lately I've been getting a lot into colloring as a whole and Marie Severin in particular. Which editions are the best ones in terms of color reproduction? I now she did some amazing work in her late 70s restoring one of the Bernie Kriegstein collections, but I'm not even sure which one.
comic book plus has a horror section that should satisfy your needs
>radium stick challenge
They didn't have Tide Pods back then
any tpb or digital versions?
I don't know what's in it but that's exactly why I linked this
thanks fiend
