I hate this character. Why is she so sympathized and the joker so hated? She was his right hand man. If joker shot someone she loaded the bullets but ever now an then they talk about her like she was an unknowing victim. Like she didn't quit her fucking job for this shit. Like she wasn't there when joker killed hundreds if not thousands. The fuck?!?!
SHE QUIT HER JOB TO DO THIS SHIT!!! SHE CHOSE THE LIFE NOT VICE VERSA!!
The problem is that none of her fans read comics, the ones who post up pages from The Injustice comics crack me up the most seeing as how she helped Joker murder thousands of people with an act of terrorism and tricked Superman into killing a pregnant Lois. And she gets off without even a slap on the wrist because “she’s sorry” and “didn’t know Joker was going to do that” and is even made a member of the JL. Her fans are so bad and clueless that I’ve been told that she named Task Force X the Suicide Squad, and it doesn’t help that DC has made her greater than the trinity combined
Sebastian Lopez
I miss classic Harley Quinn and I'm really fucking tired of the modern version, I don't like her anymore.
>Doctor Doom kills innocent people for not clapping enough to satisfy his ego, Marvel heroes treat him as a hero "MAKE MINE MARVEL! SO BASED! SUCH GOOD WRITING!!" >Harley Quinn does small-ass crimes, lives in jail doing work for the Suicide Squad, is treat like a villain by everyone "REEEEEEEEEEEEEE WHY DOESN'T HARLEY QUINN PAY FOR HER CRIMES? THIS IS AWFUL!"
That's why I write fanfiction where my self-insert fucks her into a mindbroken state and makes her good. Same with Ivy, Catwoman, Talia, Livewire, Giganta, etc.
Hudson Flores
She was only half-way tolerable in the DCAU. Never anywhere else.
Brody Nelson
post them
Alexander Morgan
That's a bad example because they've basically made every superhero in Marvel as bad as their villains.
Also, Harley doesn't do "small-ass crimes". She once hid bombs in teddy bears and set them off on Christmas.
Nicholas Williams
>Why is she so sympathized and the joker so hated? Unironically because she’s a woman. Women are forgiven far more easily than men, especially if they can cook up a sob story. It’s why female villains are far more likely to turn good in fiction, and it’s why women get lighter punishments than men for the same crime in real life. Female characters start out with audience sympathy, male characters have to earn it.
Jason Campbell
>Also, Harley doesn't do "small-ass crimes". She once hid bombs in teddy bears and set them off on Christmas. Marvel heroes have done worse.
Hunter Allen
Dr. Doom is evil and never in the comics have they tried to make it seem like he was a victim of his actions/inactions.
Also harley has been Jokers right hand man for a while. She helped him commit alot of crimes.
Fanboys like to have a back and forth arguement about how morally grey batman is for leaving joker alive but here we have harley quinn helping him commit crimes and she can be a good guy simply because the joker was abusive.
Like batman can tramitized from childhood and still not be forgiven for killing one person.
Harley can be a grown professional psychiatrist, quit her day job and go help a mentally ill person commit genocide and be forgiven.
Asher Cruz
I absolutely fucking loathe her modern look.
Luis Walker
This is the batman universe were people have an arguement on whether joker should be dead or not.
Not mentally hospitalized and treated for his illness. No. Should we kill him or not.
Yet harley his right hand man is mostly having a struggle argument on whether she is even a villian.
Christopher Bennett
I absolutely love her modern look. Whore-ley Quinn was the best thing to happen to the shit character. At least she's fappable, now.
Asher Harris
Her voice is just terrible to listen to.
And the worst part is how she is portrayed as some kind of feminist symbol, even though her whole character is based around domestic abuse and Stockholm Syndrome.
Lincoln Wood
Agree to disagree, there was literally nothing wrong with her old costume.
Hunter Evans
This is nothing new at all for comics. Venom, Punisher, and a lot of other antiheroes started as straight up murderous villains who were later softened to make them more marketable.
Nicholas Peterson
Pretty much how I feel
Easton Turner
Punisher isn't an anti-hero, you moron.
Logan Long
Do you not understand what an antihero is?
Grayson Rivera
The only person who Venom ever wanted to straight up murder with malice was Spider-Man, any time the two were not near one another Eddie and Venom were doing their best to combat crime, if in a vicious monstrous way, no worse than Frank. I can’t remember Eddie ever killing someone innocent with the intent of killing them like Harley did multiple times for Joker
Liam Powell
Do you? Frank Castle doesn't do what he does for ANY sort of heroism or good at all. It's purely coincidental. All Frank wants is a war to die in
Ayden Green
Harley is good, modern comics turning her into a victim isn't. She's supposed to be just as crazy as all the other nutters in Arkham with her particular brand being violent obsession combined with this perfect image of Joker that if he starts going too far against it she'd outright murder him and while Joker doesn't care about her day to day those bits of violent madness make him fall for her all over again.
In the cartoon when he tried to replace her she broke out of Arkham just to beat his ass and when she tried to kill him at the end of Harlequinade he responded with love.
Owen Nelson
>Dr. Doom is evil and never in the comics have they tried to make it seem like he was a victim of his actions/inactions Both Books of Doom and Triumph and Torment are basically "poor Doom, he is just a victim of the circumstances".
Leo Phillips
Venom has raped a woman and eaten human beings.
Kevin Jones
Venom while bonded to Mac, someone who actually had been convicted of a number of murders and other awful crimes. Venom is a poor example due to the fact that Venom is always The Symbiote + The Host What? No it didn’t, that book didn’t make you go “Ohhh poor doom, it wasn’t his fault at all, his mom is trapped in hell!” Naw man, Doom was a massive cunt who only showed Strange some respect because he needed help. Hell, Superior Foes did a better job making you feel sorry for Doom than T&T did
Robert Bell
>Hell, Superior Foes did a better job making you feel sorry for Doom than T&T did So, yet another "Doom is just misunderstood poor him" story to the list.
Ryder Hall
Also, I’m pretty sure the woman that Mac raped was a hooker he paid for, so that’s a bit of a Grey area, of course it was implied that he ate her afterwards. Back when Eddie was Venom and killing people and eating brains it was always some criminal q
Carson Stewart
Which one? Seems like someone new plays her every story.
James Adams
Eddie raped his then girlfriend, too.
Jaxon Brown
I think he means Tara Strong since she's played her more than most. I really do miss Sorkin
Daniel Peterson
When has the last time Harley worked with the Joker? Nowadays she's just this "yaassss queen slay" feminist icon/lesbian with Ivy.
All of them. They all have her with that same screechy, too loud tone of voice.
Julian Rodriguez
Naw, it was two pages wherein Doom hires some artist to paint his portrait. He got a little loaded off wine, was feeling down and began to cry about wanting to call his mom. The artist painted this and Doom vaporized him for it later. But kept the painting. You should check out Superior Foes, it’s a great series that didn’t last too long. Highly recommended
Hudson Gutierrez
Same here. I really like classic Harley Quinn but now seeing her turn into this is just tragic.
Jacob Kelly
Eddie Raped Ann? I don’t remember this happening, but it’s been a few years since I sat down and read all the way through ASM and some of the adjacent titles
Christian Richardson
>began to cry about wanting to call his mom. And this is considered one of Marvel's finest comics, huh?
Jayden Long
I think one of the things that piss me off the most about modern Harley is how much she's stagnated Poison Ivy's character into nothing more than HER supporting character. Old Poison Ivy >A deadly seductress who would lure, manipulate, and kill men which is partly tied to her past issues with father figures and men in her scientific field. An ecoterrorist who valued plant life more than humans, and wanted nothing but total extinction of the "apes" in favor of plants (often mutated) dominating the planet. Sympathized with Harley because her torment originated from a abusive male relationship, and their relationship ranged from friends to one sided manipulation. New Ivy >An "anti-hero" where fans and writers pretend she's some sort of misunderstood green peace rep trying to save the planet. Characterization has been watered down to Harley's rug munching fuck buddy and caters to autistic tumblr shippers who don't give a damn about anything of substance so long as it's cute or fits their gay agenda.
It’s a comedy title user, Doom is even wearing F4 boxers when he wakes up after the fact, don’t worry tho, Doom doesn’t really play a big part in the comic at all, and that story is being told by Boomerang, so take it with a grain of salt
Ayden Foster
an amazing mommydom, all is forgiven
Nicholas Kelly
This. Women want to be her and men want to fuck her.
Dylan Robinson
She started that turn though back in No Man's Land when she was very much MOMMY.
Carter Hughes
nigger
Jayden Perez
What? Venom killed people all the time during his villain phase. Remember how he squished that guard head? When he almost suffocated another with webbing?
Ryder Reyes
Just remember that in Injustice 2, Batman accepted the main Joker culprit around, the guy who blew up Metropolis and pushed Superman over the ledge. And for some reason Superman didn't snapped her neck in the first second of being in the same room with her.
Liam Foster
l-link?
Jaxon Parker
I hate cuz even in BTAS Ivy mostly just tolerated Harley. She felt a kinship with her but she wouldn't put up with her looniness for too long and wasn't afraid to let her know. But it feels like everyone is afraid of her being even a little rude to her because they're meant to be some sort of idealized couple. Harley and Ivy were fun when they were a Thelma and Louise who went on fun crime sprees. But everyone likes Harley so Harley can't be bad, and Everyone likes them together so they can't have any conflict or abuse cuz that'd be problematic. It's OBNOXIOUS. Everyone wants to treat these characters and their relationships like they're fucking real and cares about Harley's being abused by literal villains as if that's not a thing villains are just...gonna do cuz they're fucking villains.
I mean if more new things had this sorta dynamic I'd dig it more. I can't really look at it in a vacuum cuz unfortunately I am old and experienced old thing first. I'm hoping their relationship has them butt more heads in that upcoming Harley Quinn cartoon.
Yeah that's why he's an antihero. Doing mostly good things for bad reasons
Asher Hernandez
Didn’t Venom squash that guards head for opening fire on him while Venom was in a very public area thereby putting innocents in danger? And as for the nearly suffocating a guy, nearly is t the same thing as fully, but I understand what you mean. What I mean is that Venom never decides to go out and just kill anyone he sees, or send explosives to dozens of random homes, the only person he ever really wanted to murder and tried to torment with a heart full of malice was Peter
Nolan Phillips
user Red Hood is an anti-hero. Frank is not. Frank is a severely disturbed man who just wants to die in battle and hopes by poking the bear long enough someone will just do it.
Grayson Watson
>character created in 90s >classic
Charles Wilson
The new Harley cartoon seems like it's gonna push her as a strong independent woman who don't need no Joker, let's see how it goes. I'm still fucking mad the teaser had her with her old costume but the footage they released later has her with that shitty new design.
Noah Stewart
The difference is that Harley isn't allowed to lose ever while Doom has had his ass beaten by RICHARDS and Squirrel Girl every Tuesday.
Daniel Ortiz
Harley was at her best when she was the abused right hand woman of the Joker. Now she's just a second rate Deadpool.
She was always going to be in a mix of both in the show she wears the jester outfit because that's her trying to be like the joker's sidekick Her current look is her own look signifying her independence
Chase Smith
We've reached a paradigm shift in pop culture where characters are lauded not for what they actually are, but what they could be in the personal head canons of their "fans".
Instead of being the mentally ill psychopathic groupie that she really is, DC chooses to push the facade of her being a STRONK liberated woman who can go anywhere and get away with anything just because she escaped from an abusive relationship, because that's the premise a loud minority latched onto.
